Small little shop off Del Mar and Lake. It was an easy walk from work but if you drive, there's a lot right behind it. It's a build your own kinda açaí bowl places. You can mix and match the bases. I got açaí and blue majik. I didn't feel like the açaí was tart enough but the blue majik was delicious. It was a little runnier than the açaí base though. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The walk back to the office in the heat probably didn't help.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's no where to sit. I mean I might have seen a small bench right outside but this is by no means somewhere you can go sit and eat at, which is a shame.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The toppings were unlimited and the service was good and fast. I got a medium which was filling so I think I could do with a small next time. I would definitely try them out again.

I love the acai here!! The base doesn't melt really fast like other places I've tried. They have lots of options of toppings & sauces so it's great I came on Wednesday afternoon & the staff was really kind to help me choose items for my order! Thank you!

Roots and rye may be like my new recent obsession. I fear I have gone so much that the guy on Lake just says extra granola right before I even say it and walk in. Anyways it's so so good. I could probably eat this everyday and not get tired of it. The overnight oats, acai, and granola are all just so yummy and it genuinely is the best acai bar with unlimited toppings!

My daughter recommended this place to me. She had açaí bowls with her friend. It's my first time. I ordered a small açaí bowl. The base I chose was overnight oats, young coconut, strawberries, and blueberries. For toppings, I had pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, dried cranberries, and cinnamon. The açaí bowl tastes so good and filling. That was my quick lunch and got energized. The service was prompt and easy.

I went to Roots & Rye yesterday. I got a small acai bowl. The base for my acai bowl included pitaya. The toppings for my acai bowl included a mix of berries, nuts, overnight oats, granola, seeds, beeswax, honey, and peanut butter. I was highly satified with the bowl I had. Every ingredient looked great. I didn't much enjoy the flavor or texture of the overnight oats and the beeswax.

Pretty solid acai spot. I love how customizable the bowls are. Picking and chooses from a plethora of toppings is always great. That way, you can get exactly what you want. There's an abundance of delicious, diverse toppings, which is what makes Roots & Rye stand out. I'm knocking off a star due to the quality of the ingredients. The acai is the frozen, sherbert-like ice-cream type. Not my preference when it comes to acai. And the bananas and strawberries were a little underripe. Still tasty! And I loved being able to add protein powder, peanut butter, and cacao nibs on top. So this is a good, quick acai bowl stop if you're looking for swift service, and customizabilty.

I placed an ubereats order for an Acai Bowl, and when I went to pick it up, they handed it to me in a bag, not saying anything. I went home and noticed there was no Acai in my Acai bowl. I called their customer service, went to voicemail, left a message, and haven't heard back.

The acai bowls here are so refreshing, and I love all the options. I got a small and you can mix and match the bases. I got Blue Majik, Acai, and chia pudding as the bases. The fruits offered are bananas, strawberries, and blueberries. They also have a good selection of granolas, nut butters, etc to choose from. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a small shop, definitely a place to pick up your order.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I've had roots & rye plenty of times and they never disappoint! Their acai bowls and smoothies are customizable. The fruits and veggies taste fresh. I typically order the acai smoothie and acai bowl. I like how they offer unlimited toppings and add ons. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The store was clean and service was friendly![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

My friend introduced me to this spot and no other açaí place can't compare for me. My go to combo for the base is chia pudding and açaí. Top it with blueberries, strawberries, and bananas. This is a straightforward shop. Order and enjoy your açaí outside in the sun. Service is met with a smile and efficiency. Another great combo

I recently have discovered how much I love Acai bowls! So I was excited to try a new spot in Pasadena when I was in the area. Parking here was difficult, this location is located in central Pasadena (near Lake) and every time I am in this area it gives me such high stress and anxiety because the drivers here seemed to be impatient and reckless as they drive in the city. The parking lot behind the row of businesses were packed. This was on a Friday night around 7pm. After 10 mins of circling the area, we finally found a spot. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Once we got in, I wondered if they were open. It was dimly lit and really quiet inside. It looked like a ghost town, where there was no one in sight. Maybe I came during an off-peak time?[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The worker sitting in the way back saw us and came over and helped us with our order. This process was fast and I appreciated that, it was nicely packed with all the toppings and I was excited to try it out! I wished there were more options for fruits; there were only strawberries, bananas, and blueberries (maybe by the time I was there all the other ones were sold out?) My base had the matcha, acai, and chia pudding. I love matcha and this matcha felt like it punched me in the face to let me know they were invited to the party and acai and chia pudding were just there as decoration. I wished there was a better balance between the flavors (maybe I should've asked to try a sample) but not the stores fault. Now I know to probably stick to just the acai base. It was good but it didn't wow me, I don't think I'll go out of the way to come here but if I am by chance then I wouldn't mind stopping in

All I have to say is this place sets my bar high for acai bowls bc everything on it is so fresh and the portions are so generous. Like each small bowl is barely $10 for unlimited toppings. None of that $1 for each extra topping!

    Amy L.

Small açaí shop on lake. I like their blue majik flavor (coconut, mango, pineapple, and blue algae(?)) because the texture is smoother than the açaí (which gets kinda icy). Blue majik does melt faster though, fyi. Unlimited toppings. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Small bench in front of the store to sit at and people/traffic watch while you eat :)[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Luckily, it wasn't busy... granted I went around noonish on a Wednesday. The staff was incredibly friendly and after I placed my order, I received a number and took a seat outside where they had two chairs and a table where I could observe the growing Sushi Gen line. Despite the heat, the table was shaded so it was nice to take in the breeze. My matcha oat latte was made quickly and brought to me. The latte itself was perfectly balanced, not too sweet nor was it too bitter. What I also appreciated is that it was also strong in flavor! It was a perfect treat after lunch and in this wild heat! Definitely recommend this place and will try the soft serve next time!

It was good, but a little bit bitter than desired. Added a little bit of honey for sweetness. Overall, this was ice cold and refreshing! A wonderful drink on a hot, summer day! Love that I can drink delicious matcha without added milk! MATCHA SOFT SERVE Soft serve was milky, creamy, smooth with a light matcha flavor. But they added matcha powder on top, which brought a strong matcha flavor. But because it was only on the top, so it wasn't an even flavor with matcha flavor. Overall delicious and would order it again! PARKING Best to park at Honda Plaza, where Tea Master is located. They validate parking! BUT even after they scanned my ticket for validation, it did not work when I was at the gate exiting! Bummer. I paid $5.00. Street parking is hard to find and I wouldn't recommend walking too far for parking. There was another parking lot across from Honda Plaza, but do not know the rates there. CUSTOMER SERVICE Friendly customer service. They were a bit slow in making the matcha and the soft serve is my small complaint. It took a bit more time than desired. AMBIANCE + SEATS Small store. Lots of tea-related merch sold. They also sell their own matcha and other teas as well. Two outdoor seats with tables. Seats for 2. The outdoor area was not clean, so would not recommend. The tables looked clean, but the ground around it smelled of urine. Yuck. Some people may not have noticed because there were people who sat at the tables and enjoyed their matcha and soft serve ice cream. Yay for them. Would I return? Not sure. I enjoyed everything, but the parking situation is not ideal. I feel like I have to go out of my way to come here. Although Honda Plaza did not have any homeless in the immediate area, as soon as you drive to the main street, there was a homeless camp nearby. So it's just less and less appealing to return.
