Amazing açaí bowl place! Unlimited base and toppings - do I need to say more? I also love the variety of base that you can choose from - green tea, chia pudding, açaí, pitaya, and blue majik. A lot of toppings to choose from and you can even add powders like cacao powder, matcha powder, and bee pollen. I usually get the medium bowl and the portion is very decent! My first Acai bowl EVER and I'm a fan! I found this through fellow yelpers and decided to give it a try because of the high reviews. The store is small; no place to sit other than the small bench outside. We had to wait outdoors for others to finish with their orders inside. I was a bit turned off. But once I got in, the store associates were kind and made suggestions for me when I told them that I'm new. I got a small Acai bowl and LOTS of toppings. I got the Acai, chia pudding, granola, almonds, pumpkin seeds, flax seeds, banana, blueberry, strawberry, honey and bee pollen (!!!) for $8. I had no choice but to sit on their small bench. It's been heating up in the San Gabriel Valley, so some friends and I decided to come for acai bowls on a Sunday afternoon. When we arrived around 1:30 PM, there were only a couple other people in line. From a price standpoint, their acai bowls are pretty affordable! I paid $9.50 for 12oz yesterday and was able to get 12oz for only $8 here (they don't charge tax but you can leave a tip!) In terms of taste, the acai was pretty standard, and I enjoyed the matcha and chia pudding as well. I wasn't a huge fan of the overnight oats, but it definitely made the bowl quite hearty. One thing to note is that as the bases started to melt, the texture became a bit foamy(?). I felt like the bases also melted pretty quickly in comparison to some other spots I've been to. ANOTHER R & R in Pasadena?! Well, we had to give it a try. Personally, I like this location more than the one on Colorado! For one thing, there is a parking lot readily available unlike the other location, so you can park and walk right over. Second, there is a customer bathroom in this, LOL. A tiny detail, but very important. You know, for when you ask for too much honey, and it drips all over your hand as you eat LOL. And third, the staff here are much better at their jobs. They are FAST! They are FRIENDLY! You get your bowl within minutes even if you have a large group. The Colorado location couldn't even handle 4 people in a timely manner. In terms of quality of ingredients and taste, it's on par with the other location. Whew! The interior is clean and simple, and there is a bench outside to eat on. I will be coming to this location from now on whenever I'm in Pasadena, but the happiest day ever will be when Roots & Rye decides to open a location on the West side in LA hehehee read more

This was my first time trying an acai bowl and it was amazing omg. When I told my friends from SoCal I was going to LA, the only advice they gave me was to try an acai bowl and I'm so glad I did. This place was so amazing as they gave you so many different options for bases and toppings. The only thing is that I wish they had better parking and indoor seating (as the place seemed to be designed pretty much as to-go), but it's not that big of a deal. Over quarantine, I fell in love with acai bowls. There's not many in my area but then I stumbled upon Roots & Rye through a mutual friend's instagram post! The chia pudding and overnight oats provide a creamy texture and just goes so well with the acai. I'm usually an adventurous eater but I typically stick to what I know when it comes to acai bowls but I'd love to try their other bases next time. Aside from the typical wide variety of fruits, granolas, and toppings, they also have some interesting nut butters! They have a large parking lot in the back, and you can't miss the place as it's painted a bright yellow orange on the exterior. Due to covid, there's no seating inside or outside but my friend and I walked across the street, where Trader Joe's is and just sat on the steps outside. Every time I come here when I leave I promise myself it will be the last time. Give this place another shot today, I order my usual 24 oz ( a.k.a. large açai bowl) . I have noticed they have a new trick that it is to add very thick granola to the bottom or on top of your base so they can give you less of the açaí and more of the other stuff . Me personally I don't really like granola and chia pudding on my bowl , But because of the amount of açai they put in my large bowl I start adding so it doesn't look like I'm getting a small size. If you're getting a size large you expect to have a large amount of what you're paying which is not the case here. Every single time is the same thing, I get more of toppings and add-ons than the actual base of preference in my case is açai. I paid $28 for two bowls and I feel like I'm not getting what is my money worth. I always get medium 16 OZ half açaí, half coconut, peanut butter in the middle, granola, banana, blueberries, strawberries, and coconut flakes on the top! The açaí and the coconut mix gives it a more creamy flavor and the granola is always fresh and crunchy. I've had other açaís around the area and sometimes the granola is just horrible and stale. The açaí and coconut is always on point and consistent in the flavor as well . Fruits is usually sweet and always sweet when it's not in season but that's understandable.
