Not the simple brazilian style where acai/pitaya are the only base options, and the only toppings are the holy trinity (strawberry, blueberry, bananas). It was a little confusing at first, because you order at the register on the right side, then make your way left to customize your bowl..? I was a little confused at first. I thought it was so cool that they had an ube flavored base, and it was so creamy and delicious. The toppings available were akin to what you'd find at somewhere like Roots and Rye or Blue Bowl. Everything tasted so refreshing. Lots of outdoor tables available, and a few indoor ones. My bf and I stopped in last week needing something refreshing post workout. Both of our smoothies were awful and we had to throw them out. The cashier was polite but rushed us (think he had a bathroom emergency which sucks for him but would have rather him have one of the other 2 employees help us out since they weren't super busy at the time we ordered). My boyfriend's mango glow smoothie tasted so overly sweet and artificial. I was going to order the strawberry banana but wanted peanut butter and a green added and the cashier recommended me customizing rather than taking time to answer my questions. I was rushed so ended up ordering it with almond milk base, acai, peanut butter, banana, strawberry and spinach. Couldn't taste the peanut butter or berry. I think this is a pretty silly mistake given it's Filipino American History Month and neighboring Eagle Rock has a notably large Filipino community. The base had a gooey texture that was super off putting and it didn't have that delicious tropical taste that I love in pitaya bowls. The staff are unfriendly and slow moving. There was only one couple in front of me and I waited probably 15 min to start my order. Then when I asked for blueberries the container was pretty empty and gross looking and the employee just scraped the last of them into my bowl. They should have changed out the tray and I never would have known. It was offputting. Overall this spot was a miss for me. Yes, you read that correctly... a kid-size bowl of all this yumminess! And it more than satisfies a hungry adult. Berry Bowl's kid-size bowl serving is slightly smaller than regular bowls in the South Bay for about 1/4 less serving. Açaí bowls are not cheap, but at Berry Bowl you get more bang for your buck. Truly the best açaí bowls around! Order on line and avoid the long lines and wait time. Tables outside are available for enjoying your special treat as they do melt quickly and not ideal to transport. Parking can be tough but there is a lot around the corner that always has available parking that is metered. Snacks and other canned/ bottle drinks are available for purchase but we only go for the bowls or smoothies. The staff is generally all pretty friendly and helpful, I've come across one gentleman that didn't seem to be having a good day but that didn't affect us.
