Tried this as a different option than the ole Mermaid place - which is down the road. Researched the menu ahead of time which was good because the drive thru attendant met me in a relatively long line well ahead of the display board. I sounded like a regular as I ordered, so there's that! I ordered a Horchata Latte and a Mocha Mexicano, both medium sized and hot and a Tres Leches Muffin. The muffin was handed over when I got to the window and the coffees quickly followed. I sampled both coffees and kept the Horchata for myself. The Mocha is ready for the next day. The muffin was delicious, but fair warning, it's messy too. Both coffees could have been a little hotter, but mixing with milk will do that. Also be wary of entering and exiting. I usually bounce between Jameson Brown, Philz (when I want to battle parking), and yes, Starbucks--mixed feelings, but predictable and fast. Tierra Mía is a 10-minute walk; on a Thursday morning, while everyone's hustling to work, I ordered right away at the walk-up window--no drive-thru line for me! I love their outdoor counter. Is it the most scenic? Well, you're looking at KFC, a shuttered Roscoe's, and Chick-fil-A--but angle yourself, and you get a peek of the mountains. I ordered an iced vanilla latte--always chasing that perfect vanilla. At first sip, the vanilla syrup was pretty "medium." I thought, "Uh-oh, not sure I'll come back"--I was being a bit snobby. But after letting it settle and giving it a good stir, the taste improved. Still not the best vanilla syrup ever--maybe it's flavored differently, perhaps a Mexican-style coffee twist. That said, I only tried the vanilla latte, so maybe I'll try a warm drink or a pastry next. But here's the win: $5.75! I went with a dulce de leche iced latte and it was so delicious! Sweetness level was perfect and the espresso itself was great! I love the concept of drive thru coffee, especially when it's cold and I don't want to get out of my warm car. Well. Imagine my surprise when I drove up and saw a darling girl bundled up standing by the menu board with an iPad waiting to take my order. What? I feel sorry for whomever get assigned that shift when it's raining or 100 degrees outside. I hope they install an intercom soon. This location recently opened in what was a former fast-food spot. There are a few tables outside to enjoy your coffee & pastry. In addition to a walk-up window. The menu bord is large with pictures. I ordered a small Caramel Macchiato with almond milk. ($5.25 + .75) I drove up to the window where I was greeted by a friendly gal who told me my order when be ready shortly. She closed the window, and I couldn't help but think of the other girl standing in the cold taking orders. (Did she draw the short straw?) Soon after, my coffee was ready and I was on my way. (I was the only car in line so my wait time was minimal.) I should point out that my drink was more of a latte than a traditional Macchiato. I had a very disappointing experience at Tierra Mia. While in the drive-thru, another customer aggressively tried to cut in front of me and nearly hit my car. The situation was already upsetting, but what made it worse was how the employee handled it. After hearing the other customer disrespect me, the worker immediately took their side instead of remaining professional and neutral. I then ordered two medium horchata frappes, and the employee confirmed the order correctly. However, when I went to pay, she repeated the order back as two medium mazapan frappes. I corrected her, and although she claimed to fix it, I was still handed the wrong drinks. The entire interaction made me feel singled out and treated differently after the other customer was speaking negatively about me. I've been to a few Tierra Mia's and am excited that there is one closer to home. The location is a little odd as there isn't really any parking and the drive thru line gets long pretty easily. So excited for Tierra Mia to be in Altadena / Pasadena and bonus it's a drive thru! The wait was minimal. They're running an efficient system from order to when the drinks are ready. I ordered a large hot Cubano latte with oat milk (half sweetened) and large hot horchata latte with oat milk (half sweetened). Between the two, the cubano slightly takes the lead. I enjoyed the espresso taste with that brown sugar hint in the back. Most of all, IT WAS THE PERFECT TEMP to drink immediately. 2nd day in a row? OBSESSED, obviously. This time I got the same thing, an Iced Horchata Latte but in a large $6.25 & a Cheese Delight $2.50. The pastry was small but boy was it tasty! For the price, I'd say it was worth it! This time I went through the drive thru, I got there at 7:14am and got my order at 7:26am. Was so excited to find out Tierra Mia Coffee was opening down the street from us! My husband always went with his friends in OC so I was excited to get one here in Pasadena. The menu can be a bit overwhelming but staff is always friendly and helpful. The drinks are very sweet, so if that's up your alley, this is the place to go! I find the cubano con leche is a mild option so I can pretend I'm drinking a sweet drink with hubby. The place is small with minimal outdoor seating and it can get busy. I've been here three times so far and the Customer Service has always been pretty nice. I've never tried Tierra Mia prior to them coming to Pasadena, so I was very excited when I heard how happy the locals were that they were bringing a location to Pasadena. Their coffee isn't expensive and I love that. They have cool unique flavors to choose from and I'm very happy that I tried something new. I've tried the dolce de Leche latte iced and I've also tried the Horchata Matcha iced. Both were nice and I'm excited to eventually try other flavors. read more

I love Tierra Mia and used to drive to its other locations far away before this opened close to home. I love their coco loco latte because it reminds me of this coffee I used to get in Hawaii! The service is good but the drive thru line is a pain to get through. I suggest just parking and walking up to the walk up window and ordering. You will wait 10-20 mins depending on how long the line is. All other locations with drive throughs have the same issue though! Anyways come out and support because we need more shops like this in Pasadena! read more

Quick service drive thru and really friendly staff! I asked for a recommendation & got the iced Mint mexican mocha and it was perfection! The milk to coffee ratio was great and the chocolate was tasty! Would definitely get again ! I also got a croissant which was " ok " but I admittedly def have pretty high / likely unfair croissant standards (French buttery layers/slight crisp outside and flakey inside). Came last Saturday for the first time ever to Tierra Mia. I had an horchata cream, my son had a blue raspberry cream. Both delicious but the blue raspberry cream was amazing (he let me have a sip). We sat on the tables available; the staff was great!! A few days later I decided to comeback for that delicious blue drink that I couldn't remember the name of after picking up my kids from school. I didn't have a lot of time so I decided to do the drive thru this time. I pulled up to a girl with a resting bitch face (sorry there is no other way to describe her) I looked at the menu displayed outside but the blue drink I was looking for wasn't listed. When I asked her about a blue drink she very rudely said whatever you see there, that's all we have. So I said, no, I was here on Saturday and there is a blue drink and I ordered it in the front. She just stared at me as if I was getting on her last nerve. She expected me to drive away but instead I looked it up on Yelp found the delicious blue raspberry drink and when I gave her the name she looked it up and charged me for without any more words coming out of her mouth but that very rude stare. I pulled up for my drink and the staff at the front were very kind and friendly. I wish I could say I love this place but that girl has got to go. I understand it was very hot this past week and she was standing outside, but a job is a job. I INSTANTLY felt offended that a room full of white women assumed my husband name base on his skin color. instead of asking for clarifications they assumed he was Julio just because they saw a brown man. The only man there quickly tried to apologize while using the excuse that the music was loud and they could not hear my husband. WELL THEN LOWER THE VOLUME SIR!!! ASSUMING A PERSONS NAME BASED ON THEIR SKIN COLOR IS RACIST! This is why TIERRA MIA NEEDS TO OPEN A STORE FRONT IN THE VALLEY SO THE BROWN COMMUNITY THAT SUPPORTS CAN TO FEEL WELCOMED! I wanted to love this new location, but after multiple attempts, the service is consistently disappointing. It's ironic because they have a sign for staff inside reminding staff to "smile" and "thank customers," yet my experience, particularly on Friday and Sunday night shifts, has been the exact opposite. There is a recurring pattern of hostile behavior from the drive-thru staff: zero eye contact, a curt/aggressive tone, and the window being slammed shut before I can even pull away. Beyond the unwelcoming attitude, there has been other times where my orders are frequently incorrect, forcing me to ask for corrections which only increases the tension. It has reached a point where my "complicated" drink order (which is handled perfectly at the surrounding Tierra Mia locations) causes me major anxiety here because the drive thru attendant makes me feel like a burden. Looking at other reviews, it's clear I'm not alone in this. While the surrounding Tierra Mia locations are fantastic (shout-out to Montebello, El Monte, and West Covina), this branch has a serious culture problem. I had one great experience with a different staff member months ago, but until management addresses the professionalism of the night shift, I'll be taking my business back to my old locations where customers are treated with basic respect. read more
