$7.50 for a croissant. Service was fine. I liked the vibe it was giving; relaxed and serene.

Wanted to try something new and decided to stop by The Boy & The Bear Coffee Roastery. [[HIGHLIGHT]]From the outside, it's a pretty non-descript corner shop on Green St. and Mentor Ave., with a plain gray exterior that doesn't immediately stand out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Once you step inside, though, the space feels completely different--bright, airy, modern, and open, with a clean minimalist design.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Seating is very limited, but the atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, with light music playing softly in the background.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were greeted with smiles and friendly hellos as soon as we walked in, and the employee who took our order was both knowledgeable and welcoming, happily answering questions about the coffee offerings. One thing we really appreciated was that they paired each coffee with a small sample of the dried ground beans so you could smell the aroma before taking your first sip. It was a fun and unique touch that enhanced the tasting experience. My husband's Emerald Series La Roca Sidra iced pour-over had a sweet, red wine-like aroma, while my Emerald Series Chiroso Imperial iced pour-over offered deep floral notes of jasmine and rich caramel. For food, my husband ordered the avocado mushroom open-faced toast, and I got the avocado mushroom smoked trout open-faced toast topped with cucumber, pickled red onions, and dill. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The coffees were especially memorable and showcased the care that goes into their roasting and brewing process. The only downside for us was the price. While the quality of both the food and coffee was excellent, we felt the portions were on the smaller side for what was charged. Overall, The Boy & The Bear offers delicious specialty coffee, thoughtfully prepared food, friendly service, and a chill atmosphere. If you're looking for a unique coffee experience and appreciate the nuances of specialty beans, it's definitely worth checking out.

I usually come here for the coffee and this place is always consistent. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I love the interior and all the plants that are decorated throughout.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff is usually kind and are always helpful whenever I have a question. I'm happy to live near such a reliable coffee spot.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Decor inside was modern aesthetic but tranquil, would love to have a work from cafe day here.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Visited on a Monday late morning and was able to find parking right on Green St. but I understand parking maybe a nightmare during other times of the day. Really wanted to try their Mango Sunrise Matcha but staff said they ran out of mango, maybe next time I'll order that. Pastries were great, ordered them warmed up and they were crispy. Strawberry Matcha -tasted like strawberry ice cream mixed into matcha, no artificial taste. Personally would prefer it to be a bit sweeter, a few sugar packets helped a ton. Always better to not be overly sweet than too sweet and can't fix it. Stockholm Fog -mocha shines through the chai and it was great. It's cinnamon strong and I'm not complaining.

What a coffee spot! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I'm still reminiscing on the ambiance and how perfect it would be for a coworking spot.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's an abundant amount of small tables.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you're in the mood for specialty drip coffee, this is the spot! I ordered the Stockholm Fog and it was delicious. Not overly sweet and just the right amount of smokiness, so good! Highly recommend.

Such a cool coffee shop find in Pasadena! This place is tucked away on the corner of a one-way street, so parking can be a little tricky. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space is huge and open with so much attention to detail throughout. It has a really inviting vibe whether you're meeting up with friends, catching up over coffee, or looking for a spot to get some work done.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I got the vanilla iced latte and loved that they make their vanilla syrup in-house. You can really taste the difference, it wasn't overly sweet and had a really nice flavor. They also have alternative milk options, which is always a plus. Definitely a great Pasadena coffee spot with a beautiful space, good coffee, with chill vibes.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Cozy corner, coffee, establishment, offering limited pastries and light foods.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service is friendly and warm coffee's are assorted and delicious.

2/11/2026 Stockholm Fog (The perfect of Mocha + Chai flavor blend) They gave me a sample of this as iced drink. Spicy, but very creamy and slightly on the sweeter side. You can taste the chai flavors which is forward in this drink, but due to the creaminess of the milk and the chocolate, it is a harmonious drink. It is slightly more on the sweet side. Cappuccino (2oz double shot of Classic or Modern Espresso + the milk of your preference Served in a 5oz cup) It was good and creamy. Did add a packet of sugar as usual. Light sourness and bitterness of the espresso. The temperature could be hotter, as it would probably get cold much sooner than later. Personally, it wasn't my favorite cappuccino, as I like my drinks a bit more frothier. Customer Service The person taking my order was nice, but at the same time, I can tell she was a bit annoyed at my many questions of their coffee options. However, she got through it with a smile! The barista making the drink was very nice and encouraged me to order a cappuccino with chocolate, as she made one for herself earlier. I was going to, but maybe another time. Space / Ambiance It is a nice modern space, mostly dark furniture and tables and chairs of metal and wood. About 9 tables of 2. All of them were taken by those working on their laptops. There was a bench in the corner towards the wall, which were directly facing the tables right in front of them, which would be an awkward seat to take. Gladly I snagged a table near the front and it was nice and cozy. Parking Free street parking. Not a whole lot of spots close to the coffee shop, but if you do find one, you would never want to leave!

Service: server did not smile at all. Seems like ordering was a burden for her. Ambiance: [[HIGHLIGHT]]nice decor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But [[HIGHLIGHT]]I felt like I had to whisper in there like a library.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food: white tea was refreshing. Got the sourdough toast with salted butter and jam. Eh Don't think I'll be returning.

Was this the best coffee I've had in the LA area? No, was it good? Yes! My go to drink is a Flat white with oat milk and this place had it, but unfortunately it lacked the rich velvety smoothness of a delicious ristretto shot. It wasn't super bitter so I was happy about that. The service was great, staff was friendly and super helpful to the customer before me and to me. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a cute little shop so I will definitely be back to try something else.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Of interest, street parking is free but hard to come by.

Its very rare that I order a vanilla latte, after all, it so basic right? Well, not here. My intent when I ordered was to get it and go, but after the first sip, I was like, 'Wait, this is amazing," so I decided to stay a while and enjoy the flavor which was in line with the atmosphere- soft, inviting, and relaxing. Go off The Boy & The Bear! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great customer service, great drink, well thought out vibes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I will return time and time again.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Delicious coffee, delicious pastries, immaculate design & ambiance, and charming baristas.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Located on the corner of Green and Mentor is this super cool but unassuming building. The exterior wall with large windows is dotted with minimalist seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Just a couple small tables and chairs to enjoy your morning latte as passersby greet you.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]As soon as you enter, the rich dark academia decor instantly sets a calming tone.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The baristas are friendly, welcoming, and helpful. I ordered an iced honey latte but I was lucky to taste the hot vanilla latte as well and both were nutty, rich, perfectly sweetened and delicious. I fell in love with the place and hope to visit again soon Note: Outside food and drinks not allowed so don't try to bring the previous night's dessert with you. :P

The Boy and The Bear in Pasadena is a wonderful spot for great coffee and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Colombian coffee and decor influences with latin music is a welcomed break from the cookie cutter coffee shops. The space is charming and thoughtfully designed, making it the perfect place to catch up with friends, get some work done, or simply enjoy a quiet moment with a really good cup of coffee. 4.8* Coffee 4.8* Service 5* Ambiance The coffee is smooth, rich and clearly made with high quality beans and roasted to perfection. By the time we arrived, they had sold out on all their pastries.... I guess you have to get there earlier in the day to enjoy their very popular sweets. I loved my macchiato as it had a great ratio of espresso and milk. The latte was also good however, next time, I want to try their other specialty brews.

    Coffee beans to go.

We arrived just after they opened at 7am and were quite literally the first customers of the day. Thanks for opening your doors to us! This place is such a unique blend: part hip-hop vinyl shop, part artsy cafe, and all-around good vibes. The music selection is top notch, and I loved browsing the cute merch and randomly awesome stationery items. Service was super friendly. My husband had a great conversation with one of the guys behind the counter about the shop's minimalist decor, and we learned Two Kids has been thriving for 10 years. I hadn't been in since right around the pandemic, so it was heartwarming to see they made it through and are still flourishing. The espresso was absolutely luscious, and as a bonus, we got the prettiest latte art with hearts in our drinks, big love for that! Really wish I had more time to hang out on the comfy couches in the middle of the shop and soak in some vinyl tunes. Can't wait to come back and spend a morning here the right way, highly recommended!

The one issue I have with them is they show a loyalty program in terms of entering your phone number -- if you order online as well as the register. But I've never gotten any points. I once asked the owner about it and he claimed that they do in fact give out items, and said he would check on it that night when I told him the situation. Found seating outside but moved some plates ourselves from one table to another to find shade for us the kiddo. Grabbed a high chair and got seating set up. A few folks were setting up to play music out on the patio. We ordered inside as expected, thankfully the line wasn't too bad at that time so it went smoothly, though the prices are still higher than the average mom/pop sandwich place (but we anticipated this). We waited a bit for food while the patio band played. Ambience was pretty nice. Our friend's sandwich came out first and about 5 minutes later our food came. However, the Arnold Palmer we ordered didn't arrive with the food so we asked if they'd come back to bring it, and we were told they'd be right back. We waited probably another 5 minutes but drink still didn't come so I went inside to ask about it and saw the drink sitting on the back counter. So I asked staff if I could pick up the drink and they handed it over. Our friend's sandwich (the Jester) looked pretty filling while wife and I ordered/shared the Crown Jewel with cheese and mayo on the side. The Crown Jewel was pretty meh overall. Wasn't as stacked as the Jester and the bread fell apart as I ate it, despite the mayo on the side. At the end of eating someone came by to grab our order numbers and ask how things went. I commented on the wait for the drink and was told they couldn't find us, which sounded strange because they found us when bringing the sandwich and we still had our order number. But she said we could get a free refill. Since I wanted to take advantage of the refill I went inside to inquire but the order counter had gotten extremely busy. So I asked one of the bus/wait staff outside if they could grab my refill. He directed me inside and he commented how busy they were but I said I didn't want to wait in the huge line simply for a refill, so he offered to meet me inside to get the refill. Eventually I did receive the refill and we left. Overall, for the price of the food I felt the service was very average bordering on subpar, and the food was meh for the price. I don't blame the staff as they all seemed to be working very hard, but perhaps they were understaffed which would be more of a management issue. We basically bussed a couple tables on our own and waited what eventually amounted to 20-25 minutes for an ice tea/lemonade. I pre-tipped when I bought the food, which I kind of regretted but also felt bad that the employees were understaffed so I likely would have left a tip anyways. I don't plan to go back anytime soon. Wish the food and service were better
