Wanted to try something new and decided to stop by The Boy & The Bear Coffee Roastery. [[HIGHLIGHT]]From the outside, it's a pretty non-descript corner shop on Green St. and Mentor Ave., with a plain gray exterior that doesn't immediately stand out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Once you step inside, though, the space feels completely different--bright, airy, modern, and open, with a clean minimalist design.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Seating is very limited, but the atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, with light music playing softly in the background.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were greeted with smiles and friendly hellos as soon as we walked in, and the employee who took our order was both knowledgeable and welcoming, happily answering questions about the coffee offerings. One thing we really appreciated was that they paired each coffee with a small sample of the dried ground beans so you could smell the aroma before taking your first sip. It was a fun and unique touch that enhanced the tasting experience. My husband's Emerald Series La Roca Sidra iced pour-over had a sweet, red wine-like aroma, while my Emerald Series Chiroso Imperial iced pour-over offered deep floral notes of jasmine and rich caramel. For food, my husband ordered the avocado mushroom open-faced toast, and I got the avocado mushroom smoked trout open-faced toast topped with cucumber, pickled red onions, and dill. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The coffees were especially memorable and showcased the care that goes into their roasting and brewing process. The only downside for us was the price. While the quality of both the food and coffee was excellent, we felt the portions were on the smaller side for what was charged. Overall, The Boy & The Bear offers delicious specialty coffee, thoughtfully prepared food, friendly service, and a chill atmosphere. If you're looking for a unique coffee experience and appreciate the nuances of specialty beans, it's definitely worth checking out.

Really wanted to try their Mango Sunrise Matcha but staff said they ran out of mango, maybe next time I'll order that. Pastries were great, ordered them warmed up and they were crispy. Strawberry Matcha -tasted like strawberry ice cream mixed into matcha, no artificial taste. Personally would prefer it to be a bit sweeter, a few sugar packets helped a ton. Always better to not be overly sweet than too sweet and can't fix it. Stockholm Fog -mocha shines through the chai and it was great. It's cinnamon strong and I'm not complaining.

It has a really inviting vibe whether you're meeting up with friends, catching up over coffee, or looking for a spot to get some work done.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I got the vanilla iced latte and loved that they make their vanilla syrup in-house. You can really taste the difference, it wasn't overly sweet and had a really nice flavor. They also have alternative milk options, which is always a plus. Definitely a great Pasadena coffee spot with a beautiful space, good coffee, with chill vibes.

2/11/2026 Stockholm Fog (The perfect of Mocha + Chai flavor blend) They gave me a sample of this as iced drink. Spicy, but very creamy and slightly on the sweeter side. You can taste the chai flavors which is forward in this drink, but due to the creaminess of the milk and the chocolate, it is a harmonious drink. It is slightly more on the sweet side. Cappuccino (2oz double shot of Classic or Modern Espresso + the milk of your preference Served in a 5oz cup) It was good and creamy. Did add a packet of sugar as usual. Light sourness and bitterness of the espresso. The temperature could be hotter, as it would probably get cold much sooner than later. Personally, it wasn't my favorite cappuccino, as I like my drinks a bit more frothier. Customer Service The person taking my order was nice, but at the same time, I can tell she was a bit annoyed at my many questions of their coffee options. However, she got through it with a smile! The barista making the drink was very nice and encouraged me to order a cappuccino with chocolate, as she made one for herself earlier. I was going to, but maybe another time. Space / Ambiance It is a nice modern space, mostly dark furniture and tables and chairs of metal and wood. About 9 tables of 2. All of them were taken by those working on their laptops. There was a bench in the corner towards the wall, which were directly facing the tables right in front of them, which would be an awkward seat to take. Gladly I snagged a table near the front and it was nice and cozy. Parking Free street parking. Not a whole lot of spots close to the coffee shop, but if you do find one, you would never want to leave!

My go to drink is a Flat white with oat milk and this place had it, but unfortunately it lacked the rich velvety smoothness of a delicious ristretto shot. It wasn't super bitter so I was happy about that. The service was great, staff was friendly and super helpful to the customer before me and to me. The Boy and The Bear in Pasadena is a wonderful spot for great coffee and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Colombian coffee and decor influences with latin music is a welcomed break from the cookie cutter coffee shops. The space is charming and thoughtfully designed, making it the perfect place to catch up with friends, get some work done, or simply enjoy a quiet moment with a really good cup of coffee. 4.8* Coffee 4.8* Service 5* Ambiance The coffee is smooth, rich and clearly made with high quality beans and roasted to perfection. By the time we arrived, they had sold out on all their pastries.... I guess you have to get there earlier in the day to enjoy their very popular sweets. I loved my macchiato as it had a great ratio of espresso and milk. The latte was also good however, next time, I want to try their other specialty brews.

I stopped by The Boy & The Bear and had the vanilla latte along with the avo toast. Both were really good--the latte was smooth and the avocado toast was fresh and satisfying. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the café itself is beautiful with a spacious, thoughtfully designed interior that's perfect for relaxing or getting some work done. I'm not sure if they have their own parking lot. I ended up finding street parking, but since it's Pasadena, there are also several public parking structures nearby that charge a small fee, so parking wasn't too much of an issue. Overall, I had a pleasant experience and would definitely come back to try more of their menu. read more

got the mango sunrise matcha and a raspberry danish! matcha itself was not too sweet but i do think the mango flavor overpowered the whole drink! i could barely taste the matcha. it also came w a slice of mango to eat after. not my favorite for a matcha but was in the area! i do think their coffees would be better as it was getting packed like an hour after opening already. raspberry danish was amazing! sweet and tart. it may be too sweet depending on your taste buds but i was in the mood for something super sweet so i didnt mind it! barista was very nice! 3.5 Stars Coffee 3/5 Service 5/5 The Boy & The Bear. It's a cute name and the logo is cute too. This coffee roastery was established in 2012. They source their coffee from small farms in Columbia that are dedicated to producing top-quality beans. I've heard great things about TBTB and since it's near my gym I decided to stop in for a pre-workout caffeine fix. The design aesthetic is sleek & modern. The first thing you notice is the stunning mural on the wall, which emits art-deco vibes. There are tables along the wall in case you want to work or just relax in one of the comfy chairs. The lady that took my order was very friendly. I saw that they had a seasonal Pumpkin Spice Latte, so I requested it with almond milk. The latte was smooth & creamy. I could taste a hint of the spices but the coffee flavor was non-existent. It was more milk than coffee. I should have asked for an extra shot of espresso. I was also shocked that it was $10! What a great vibe! Plenty of places to work or study, connect with friends or read a book while enjoying a beverage. The location is really beautiful, smells good, and is in a charming location. The coffee was good - I think? I'm new to drinking coffee and wanted a latte or cafe au lait. I'm not a good judge! The people behind the counter were competent, a bit aloof, but that's kind of the vibe. read more
We made our way through our Coffee Passport! The Boy & The Bear was our favorite spot, and by far! The barista helping us out gave us a run-down on the pastries and provided great recommendations, based on our preferences. I'm in my Americano era and wowee, this one was phenomenal! The ambiance was incredibly relaxing and seemed like a great place to do remote work or take a scenic stop while going along bustling Colorado. Had the Yuzu Matcha and it was great. Wow, refreshing and interesting drink. I never thought I could have matcha without any type of milks but this works. The texture is also very smooth as opposed to some grainy matchas. Great high quality drink that was truly refreshing. Very 'sipplable' and didn't feel heavy which is what I was looking for! Came here on a Sunday so it was somewhat busy and they only had one person taking orders / making the drinks but she handled the line like a pro! She was great at communicating to us that if we had any questions to let her know and as she was making drinks she was holding a conversation with us while we waited for her to take our order! Delicious coffee, relaxing space, and friendly baristas! I recently spent some time in Pasadena and The Boy & The Bear was down the street from my hotel which was so great to have. The shop is really nice with lots of plants and had a chill vibe. I had lattes and sparkling Americanos during my few visits but the sparkling Americano was definitely my favorite because I don't get to have it in Vegas. I really enjoyed this coffee spot! Came here on a Sunday with my two girl friends and my dog after our run at the Rose Bowl. I also was able to get my Pasadena Coffee Passport stamped as well, woot woot! Lots of street parking on the one way Greet Street. This coffee place is beautiful inside! The aesthetic gives Contemporary Botanical. A very sleek, contemporary vibe where the greenery is not just a decoration, but a bold design feature against the black accents. We ordered: Chocolate Chip Cookie, Matcha & Vanilla Latte, Everything Croissant, and Pesto Tomato Everything we ordered was amazing, but I will say my favorite of all would have to be the Everything Croissant & the Chocolate Chip Cookie. I had been here a while ago, and I was a little worried... I'm not usually a big fan of the Columbian coffee flavor profile. And that's all they have here. So I took a little different tactic this time. Rather than my usual drip coffee, I'd feel free to doctor it up a bit. I'm glad I did. Truth be told, the Stockholm Fog had very little coffee in it, and the flavors were dominated by the chai. My vanilla cappuccino was great, complementing the coffee flavor profile in a way I could get behind. read more

Here's the rundown: Parking: 1/5 There's a chance there's street parking, there's a chance there isn't. Price: 0/5 Why is it that expensive? We spent almost $30 for 2 coffees and a cookie. Taste: basic. There's nothing special about the coffee or the matcha. Cookie was also mid. For the price, you'd assume it's the most heavenly drinks and cookie. Service: basic The cafe is cute. It has a modern vibe going on. They limit your wifi to 2 hours. Will not be going back. read more

Decided to meet up with a buddy for coffee on a Wednesday. Arrived shortly after 8:30 and noticed most of the tables inside had patrons working on their laptops. Loved the decor and the fact that it was fairly quiet unlike other coffee shops in the area. Decided to order their featured coffee, The Diviso. As others have stated, was pretty pricey but was intrigued with the flavor description. My buddy ordered their regular drip of the day. Pretty cool presentation and the coffee was pretty good. Loved how they give you some of the grinds to smell as you enjoy the cup of coffee. Now onto my buddy's drip. Though he did enjoy the coffee, what was strange was that there were coffee grinds at the bottom of his cup. We were definitely not expecting that as his cup was quickly filled from the pot to the left of the register. Would come back as I enjoyed the coffee and the shop itself. read more

Their matcha lattes are pale green. I was so distraught.. I needed a good matcha today and after paying out $8.50, this is the quality of latte I was handed. I came in because videos on TikTok were showing vibrant matcha lattes at your store. It seems like this is a consistency issue. Why am I paying the same amount as others to get a matcha that has far less matcha powder.. I am beyond disappointed. Please train all baristas to use the same amount and this amount of powder SHOULD NOT be the benchmark... paid almost 9 dollars for a cup of oat milk. read more

It's always nice when a coffee shop gets straight to the point with decent options and efficient service. This place was near work for me and I was able to grab a Stockholm Fog Latte with oat milk fairly quickly on a Thursday morning. My drink was made immediately after ordering - I was in and out. I enjoyed my drink and will definitely now keep this place in mind in the future. read more

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Very ethereal atmosphere when you walk in most like a high-end art gallery The wood wall and artwork and back lit products on the wall.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Coffee was good service was excellent. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was there early in the morning and had plenty of space and room to work.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Almond croissant was a little bit stale side of it have been there a day too long but otherwise a great experience.
