I came back to this location in Old Town Pasadena to meet up with a friend. I decided to try their seasonal drink and it was FABULOUS! I am writing an update so matcha and fruit juice lovers can go and get this amazing seasonal drink: POG Matcha (passionfruit, orange, and guava). It's as if the tropical juices and Matcha had a baby, the baby would be POG Matcha! Service was fine. The servers here usually have good energy. The drink was refreshing and not overly sweet which I enjoyed. I highly recommend snatching one of the small tables outside in the alley in the shade to sip your drinks while working/yapping! read more

The drinks were okay, pretty much like any others new wave coffee shop. The burrito that seemed premade was below average. It had quite a bit of moisture in it. I assume taking it from a freezer or a cold refrigerator and heating it could create condensation. The sauce made the burrito tasty. The chocolate croissant was truly good. That said two drinks, one chocolate croissant and one burrito at $42? How? Who could afford that daily? That said there was a line for 30 minutes. read more

Yum! Grabbed two Cloud drinks and they were a dream to drink on a very hot summer day. This will be my go to drink when I'm in the area. I'm normally a no nonsense black coffee drinker and Alfred's coffee is one of my favorites in LA but this drink sounded enticing and I wanted something cold. This hit the spot. read more

Alfred is a solid cafe for casual coffee runs 9 out of 10 times. Not super craft but way better than many other chains. My husband only ever gets the vanilla latte while I rotate between random drinks such as the matcha latte, lavender latte, and espresso cloud which is quite tasty. My only complaint is the twix-wannabe Nowhere Bakery cookie is pretty much always listed and NEVER actually available. Stop teasing me Alfred :(! read more

Got UberEats since there is a promo of 15% OFF $12+ orders I was impressed I got my order in less than 30 min! However, I definitely think the drinks are overpriced and not worth the price. I ordered a Matcha Cloud Cream ($9 for a 12 oz). There are 2 options for the Cream Base - Organic Dairy OR Plant-Based Coconut. There are plenty of milk substitutions free of charge so I selected oat milk with less ice. I enjoyed how creamy and how the drink wasn't too sweet. However, I had high expectations for the matcha since I read that they use high grade ceremonial matcha but the matcha was very disappointing. I honestly couldn't taste the matcha at all so I'm skeptical whether they really use high quality matcha. Overall, I felt that the drink was overpriced and wasn't worth the price so this was 2/5. The World Famous Iced Vanilla Latte ($8.40 - 12 oz). There is the option for vanilla or sugar-free syrup, milk substitutions , choice of espresso, ice and sugar adjustments free of charge. The coffee was pretty good. It wasn't too bitter or too sweet. However, I don't think it was worth almost $9 so this was 3/5. Overall, I think the drinks were just ok and definitely not worth the price so I won't recommend or return unfortunately. read more

I tried the DedCool latte with oat milk (lavender + blueberry + espresso) and I really wanted to like it, but it was honestly not good. For some reason, it had this salty, ginger-like taste. The lavender and blueberry didn't blend well with the espresso, and it didn't even taste much like coffee either. That said, the service was great, and I appreciated that they offered complimentary water and cups on the side for customers, especially during this hot weather. read more

Came early in the morning so it wasn't too hectic. The barista was helpful with answering my questions and gave some suggestions when it came to getting a coffee. I ended up getting a vanilla latte, the cloud, and 2 chocolate/walnut cookies. They had several pastries to pick from and they all looked good. The drinks and the cookie were good. My bf and I ordered an iced vanilla latte sugar free. We found it expensive for a 12 oz cup at $7 but delicious. It was a little strong for me at first but as the ice melted it actually got a lot better which is why I'm giving it a 4. In all honesty we mostly just came to use the restroom for customers and I've always wanted to try it before given the past hype so it was a good excuse and I'm glad we tried it! I'd be back again if I were in the area and felt like splurging for a drink. Service was quick even with a line on a Saturday morning. The store is located in old town Pasadena. We went on an early Sunday morning so free street parking; otherwise they do have parking structures nearby. I've been meaning to try this bougie coffee place for ages. So since I was in Pasadena the other day I made a point to swing by. Parking is a bit difficult sadly. The place was a bit unassuming...I thought it would be bigger I suppose. They have a cute little window sill area for pick up orders. My DedCool inspired latte was PHENOMENAL and so flavorful. The chocolate Babka was also tasty and I saved half for my daughter who also loved it. Cute shop with both indoor and outdoor seating. The staff were friendly, and my total came out to $15. Matcha Cloud - The cream top was fluffy and sweet, while the matcha itself wasn't overly sweet, balancing the cream nicely. Hazelnut Latte - I ordered it with two pumps of hazelnut. I was in the area and decided to come in and grab a coffee. I wanted something cold but while I was looking up at the menu board Christian suggested "The World Famous Vanilla Latte". I don't know if they just forgot to put vanilla syrup in it or if the syrup was just very very mild but I definitely would not call it worthy of world famous stature. Didn't really taste like vanilla at all. The latte was still good but did not stand out to me. The service was very mid. Was not greeted by staff apart from taking my order and walking away. Such a lovely location in Old Town Pasadena! The design inside is beautiful! During my visit I got a matcha with light vanilla syrup. It is not very earthy for those that like a more earthy flavored matcha, it is pretty smooth. However, do add sweetener if you are a fan of a sweet matcha drink. I would suggest a full shot of syrup because the light shot was not enough. I bought the cutest small sample bottle of vanilla syrup and I added more on my own and it did the trick for me. With that being said, their syrups are really good :) I did not confirm but I think their syrups are in house! read more

A great coffee stop in an area filled with options. Alfred Coffee keeps things simple but delivers quality across the board. The shop is clean, the staff is friendly, and while seating is a bit limited, it's a comfortable spot to enjoy your drink. They also have some great food items like bagels, muffins, and breakfast burritos. Alfred's is a coffee shop chain in SoCal & Arizona. They have a variety of caffeinated beverages and snacks/foods to choose from. I've tried the jasmine green tea here and it's my favorite from a coffee shop. The flavor is absolutely perfect. I'm glad they sell the looseleaf bag on their website. Would love to know where the ingredients are sourced from. As for foods, I've tried the bacon and steak breakfast burritos and they were both delicious, would recommend. I've tried their pesto pasta and I can taste the homemade pesto, it's a thumbs up from me. The staff at this location are amazing. read more

I got their famous vanilla latte and it did not disappoint! It still tasted like espresso with hints of vanilla and just enough milk that didn't overpower the whole drink. That's hard to find. My experience with Alfred coffee was just okay. My sis ordered a 8 oz. hot matcha latte with oat milk and it came out to be $6!!!! For a freakin 8 oz!! Tiny little cup. I ordered their "world famous" iced vanilla latte with almond milk. 16 oz for $7.75. It tasted like any ol typical vanilla latte. Not sure how they claim to be "world famous." That's pretty far fetched. Ooof....two drinks for close to $14.00. The drinks were fine...served its purpose of getting my caffeine fix. But definitely not worth $8 for a latte. Small coffee shop..there's only a few seats facing out the window. There are some tables outside though. Closest parking structure to Alfred will be the Schoolhouse garage, $1 for up to two hours. $2 for each additional hour. Nearby stores are Alo, Nike, Sephora and Lululemon. 2 days after Thanksgiving and I wanted to test my patience and come to old town to shop. Of course I needed some fuel for this before anything. Decided to come here and try out their world famous vanilla latte I was very surprise on how good it is and had a slight sweetness to it. You can taste the coffee and vanilla. We also got the lavender matcha latte and you can actually taste the matcha and the floral from the lavender. Service was really nice and friendly. The chicken apple sausage was flavorful & eggs were cooked as requested. Noise level was somewhat loud with all the clanging as tables were cleaned/bussed around us. Overall a decent experience for our first time visit, as mentioned, if the service was more thoughtful & welcoming, it would've made the difference from a 3 star to perhaps a 4 or a 5 star. Food for thought.

Not too milky and espresso was good not burnt/crazy acidic or anything. Mocha ($6.5)-- The mocha is real dark chocolate vs something like Hershey's syrup. You can definitely taste the difference! Good ratio of espresso and milk and I liked the dark chocolate! But if you're used to super sweet mochas then this isn't for you! Pretty reasonable prices for Pasadena no? Or am I just used to everything being expensive. But here the vibes are really nice. They have WiFi and outlets too so lots of people had a wfh set up. I swapped the bacon for tofu, and it made for a satisfying breakfast. However, my husband wasn't as impressed with his brisket burrito, saying it was a bit dry. Based on this visit, I'd recommend sticking with the breakfast items, pastries, and of course, the coffee. Copa Vida still makes a great cup of coffee!

For food, we started with the bacon deviled eggs and shrimp taquitos. Those deviled eggs were lightly fried, which was different, then had apple wood smoked bacon on top, just a really tasty bite. The shrimp taquitos were also not what you would expect, nice and light but still very good. Entrees we went with the center cut fillet and the prime rib dip with swiss cheese on a brioche bun. That sandwich just melts if your mouth after dipping it in the jous, and the cheese was the perfect accompiament. The fillet was cooked perfect as well, coming out medium rare. Overall, great restaurant in Pasadena. Definitely get the Mai Tai, Devine eggs and prime rib dip. Taquitos were good and, if you're feeling like another hg er appetizer, definitely a way to go . The fillet, also great but I feel you can get it anywhere.

The milk was smoothly integrated with the espresso, creating a balanced body that held together throughout the drink instead of separating after a few sips. It was served in the proper glass with clean presentation and solid latte art. The temperature was slightly hotter than my personal preference, which is understandable in a brunch setting, but overall it was a great cortado and far better than what many brunch cafés serve. The pain au chocolat was outstanding as well and a perfect pairing with the cortado. The service made the visit even better. Our server, Michael (aka Bev), was welcoming, attentive, and provided excellent service from start to finish. I also had the chance to compliment the barista on the cortado. Although I didn't get her name, she was very kind, took a few minutes to explain their coffee program, and shared that they use Boxx Coffee beans along with a dedicated water system to ensure the cleanest possible cup. It's always nice to meet people who genuinely care about what they're serving. Overall, Oh La La exceeded my expectations. Despite its popularity, I find the food to be fairly average. Much of it tastes like it's made from standard commercial food-service ingredients rather than prepared fresh. On the positive side, the prices are reasonable, the dining room has a pleasant atmosphere, and the staff is generally attentive. Overall, it's a decent neighborhood breakfast restaurant - nothing particularly memorable, but nothing especially disappointing either. The Reyn Special - 3/5. A classic breakfast plate with eggs, bacon, hash browns, and banana bread. The eggs and bacon are fairly average, although the bacon tends to be overcooked and dry. The standout is the hash browns. They're cooked with a nicely browned, crispy crust while still remaining fairly moist inside. The real highlight, however, is the banana bread. It tastes homemade and is easily the best item on the plate. Crepes - 1/5. This dish comes as two separate plates: one with the ricotta-filled crepes and another with eggs, sausage, bacon, and your choice of fries or tater tots. Unfortunately, the crepes are the weakest part of the meal. The ricotta-filled crepes don't taste freshly made and instead resemble a pre-made food-service product that's simply reheated before serving. Both the crepe and ricotta filling have a generic flavor with noticeable artificial notes. You can choose either banana or strawberry topping, but both sauces taste overly processed and artificial. The accompanying breakfast plate is noticeably better. I chose the tater tots, which were well prepared - crispy on the outside while remaining soft inside. The bacon, however, was again overcooked and dry, making it tough to chew. The sausage was acceptable but unremarkable. Scrambled Supreme - 2.5/5. Despite the name, this is essentially an omelet. The eggs have a mild, neutral flavor, and the fillings are okay but don't stand out. Coffee - 2/5. The coffee is classic diner coffee in every sense. It's somewhat watery, heavily roasted, and finishes with a flat, slightly bitter aftertaste. It's neither particularly good nor particularly bad - just standard coffee that does the job. Overall, The Reyn succeeds as a comfortable, affordable breakfast spot with a pleasant atmosphere and friendly service. While the food is average, and several dishes rely on ingredients that taste commercially prepared rather than freshly made.

It comes unsweetened, but there's a convenient self-service station stocked with simple syrup, utensils, napkins, and to-go containers so you can customize it however you like. One thing to note is that it's a self-bus restaurant, so after your meal you'll return your tray and dispose of your trash. I had every intention of ordering one of their gorgeous matcha parfaits, but after finishing my meal, I simply didn't have the room. This was a poor execution of a risotto. The texture was off, and the flavor was overwhelmed by whatever cheese they used in this dish. The charred scallop was one single scallop cut in half and overly charred and rubbery in taste. The blue shrimp were shriveled too. We made sure to eat the proteins to prevent waste but you know it's bad when my boyfriend didn't even want to togo this dish. He normally eats anything to prevent waste. Branzino alla Griglia ($38) - Whole grilled branzino topped with eggplant, salsa verde and herb salad. This was the least bad item that we paid for... Although there was a lot of bones to be cautious of. I understand the risk of stumbling on a few bones when ordering a whole fish but this was more than I would have liked. I also didn't like some of the flavors coating the fish. Although from a grilled perspective it was crispy and perfectly cooked. This is a popular business with plenty of patrons to keep them busy. Whatever they like... it isn't what I look for in a business I frequent. I know they don't need my business and I will gladly stay away and save myself all of the trouble. This was way too stressful and there weren't any dishes I need to have again. My experience was so awful I'm being very generous with this 3 star, which is "average".
