I've tried the jasmine green tea here and it's my favorite from a coffee shop. The flavor is absolutely perfect. I'm glad they sell the looseleaf bag on their website. Would love to know where the ingredients are sourced from. As for foods, I've tried the bacon and steak breakfast burritos and they were both delicious, would recommend. Not much of a coffee drinker but wanted to give Alfred's a try. While the coffee was delicious, the employee that I spoke with had a terrible attitude. I first asked her if there was a restroom which she just glanced up at me and spoke to me like I was stupid and just said no. Then once I got my drink, I wanted to confirm that it was decaf because I don't really drink coffee and she again, glanced up rolled her eyes & simply said yes. My experience with Alfred coffee was just okay. My sis ordered a 8 oz. hot matcha latte with oat milk and it came out to be $6!!!! For a freakin 8 oz!! Tiny little cup. I ordered their "world famous" iced vanilla latte with almond milk. 16 oz for $7.75. It tasted like any ol typical vanilla latte. Not sure how they claim to be "world famous." That's pretty far fetched. Ooof....two drinks for close to $14.00. The drinks were fine...served its purpose of getting my caffeine fix. But definitely not worth $8 for a latte. Small coffee shop..there's only a few seats facing out the window. There are some tables outside though. Closest parking structure to Alfred will be the Schoolhouse garage, $1 for up to two hours. $2 for each additional hour. Nearby stores are Alo, Nike, Sephora and Lululemon. This is just another coffee shop, too crowded to stand inside, and if you're waiting outside, no system to alert you when your order is ready, so you end up going inside 3 or 4 times checking on your order. Not able to use the restrooms anymore. They blame it on the homeless situation, so now, any paying customer is not allowed to even go in the restroom to wash your hands or use the toilet. They've turned it into an employee-only restroom. The general manager suggested I go down the street to another facility to use the restroom. Can you believe that? Dang, I got the opportunity to grab one of Alfred's drinks. I chose their cloud cream espresso latte and it's delicious! It comes in one size, 12 ounces and it costs $7 but it's so worth it! 2 days after Thanksgiving and I wanted to test my patience and come to old town to shop. Of course I needed some fuel for this before anything. Decided to come here and try out their world famous vanilla latte I was very surprise on how good it is and had a slight sweetness to it. You can taste the coffee and vanilla. I came here with my mom after doing some shopping. Parking on Colorado Blvd can be challenging though there is paid street parking theoretically available. We parked at a parking garage located on Fair Oaks (2 hrs for $1!). This location is small with room for a maximum of 6 people staying inside, seated, to eat/drink. Definitely a to-go spot. We came toward the evening and the barista who helped us was very kind and answered some questions we had about their size options and location information. Hot matcha latte w/ whole milk 4.5/5, this is a traditionally bitter matcha latte, if this is something not up your alley I would recommend adding sweetener (which was offered by our barista). I always like to try a place's matcha without sweetener first hence the 4.5 rating as I could tell they used high quality matcha in a good ratio of matcha : milk. I was in the area to have lunch with some old coworkers and needed somewhere to wait for the Apple Store to open. Alfred's happened to be right across the street, so I thought I'd stop in and get some work done. This one is just as cute as the other locations. There aren't too many spots to work at but a bar top facing the street and a small bench on the side. Got lucky enough to get a seat at the bar to knock some emails out. Once we saw that they were favoring mobile orders over live in person customers was a tragedy. Barista isn't even grinding and prepping. It's all on a push-button system. I mean this in the kindest way because of the crew at this location is very kind and helpful and they deal with a very, very high volume of orders. But I have very consistently experienced, short pours, drinks that are not hot, or missing shots of espresso. And at this point it has me driving well out of my way to go to Klatch or even considering spending a large amount of money on an espresso machine at home and making them myself. Randomly stopped by when I was going to the Apple Store near by. It's a small shop with a few bar seats so you can work and outdoor seating along the alley but it's mostly a pick up and go shop. I've never been here but heard about it so I'm glad that it was along my walking route. I ended up ordering their iced vanilla latte with the cloud top, which also included some salt and cocoa powder sprinkled on top for a "tiramisu moment" which the barista mentioned. This isn't a fast coffee shop like Starbucks as they choose to craft their drink carefully. The drink was really good but I would expect it to be with the prices. I also got the feta and spinach pastry which was excellent- the croissant part was SO CRISPY but again it was pricey. Both workers were incredibly nice and the barista who took my order was super friendly and informative. Definitely stop by if you need a pick me up! One of several amazing coffee spots on Colorado boulevard. Alfred is a chain that is really well known for their vanilla latte as well as a cream top drink. I love the decor and ambiance in this spot, as well as the fact that they have matcha options for all of their drinks in addition to coffee. Service is always super friendly but this place is extremely popular so I usually find myself waiting a little bit for a drink. I think you are able to order ahead if you can call or order online to try to mitigate that delay. Parking unfortunately is difficult as with everywhere else in Old Town. Pasadena and just gets harder as they add more and more great restaurants and businesses. I usually just bike the bullet and pay the dollar or so for a hour in one of the garages. I had no idea that Alfred coined the term, "But First Coffee." It's a phrase that many of us live by, myself included. Their signature logo is also very recognizable - the letter A with antlers on top. I don't know the significance of the antlers, but I do know that Molly Thorpe designed it. Alfred takes pride in serving innovative coffee and tea drinks. Their signature blends are roasted specifically by Stumptown Coffee Roasters, and their teas are sourced from all over the world. I stopped by the Old Town Pasadena location on my way to the gym for my morning pick me up. It was my first visit, and I wasn't sure what to order. I was about to ask for an Americano, but then I spotted the Signature Menu that listed: "World Famous Vanilla Latte." Of course I had to try it! I also noticed they had bottles of their custom vanilla bean syrup for sale as well. (Regular & Sugar Free $12.50) I requested mine with the sugar free vanilla syrup and almond milk. Amelia assisted me. She was nice and personable. She informed me that all their syrups are made in house including the lavender. The café is small & quaint with bar style seating against the window so you can people watch. There is a section with merchandise for sale in addition to grab & go items. I didn't have to wait long for my beverage, and I couldn't wait to try it. The first sip was lovely. The foam was smooth and creamy. I could taste the hint of vanilla with each sip and the brew was not bitter or overpowering. It was nicely balanced and light on the sweetness level. Next time I'll give the Lavender Latte a try.
