    I tried- I really did..

Stopped in after buying shoes at Rothy's next door- and first off I'd like to say the friendliness of the staff just wasn't there! I ordered their famous vanilla latte and it was super sweet! Couldn't drink it! I had previously asked if it was sweet and the barista said the espresso evened it out it wasn't too sweet. There were customers waiting for their drinks- However what caught my eye was when I walked in there was a unhoused man who left a bundle of blankets in the eating area and headed to the restrooms- People were just coming in and heading straight to the restrooms. I was disappointed with this visit-

First time at this location, and unfortunately, not the best experience. I placed an order around 7:30 AM for two drinks. I totally understand it's early in the morning I'm barely waking up too but customer service still matters. I walked up to the cashier and she didn't greet me or say anything. She just looked at me waiting for me to order. I told her I had already placed an order, and she simply pointed to the side and said, "Your drinks are on the counter." Her facial expression made it pretty obvious that she didn't want to be there. she might need to work the afternoon shift if the morning shifts are a drag. I also got a vanilla latte, and honestly, it tasted like pure milk it didn't taste anything like vanilla I don't know if they forgot to add it in or if it was one less pump or something but For almost $9, that's crazy. I'm paying for a coffee, not a cup of milk. Hopefully the experience is better next time!

    Matcha POG and iced latte

I came back to this location in Old Town Pasadena to meet up with a friend. I decided to try their seasonal drink and it was FABULOUS! I am writing an update so matcha and fruit juice lovers can go and get this amazing seasonal drink: POG Matcha (passionfruit, orange, and guava). It's as if the tropical juices and Matcha had a baby, the baby would be POG Matcha! Service was fine. The servers here usually have good energy. The drink was refreshing and not overly sweet which I enjoyed. I highly recommend snatching one of the small tables outside in the alley in the shade to sip your drinks while working/yapping!

Alfred is a solid cafe for casual coffee runs 9 out of 10 times. Not super craft but way better than many other chains. My husband only ever gets the vanilla latte while I rotate between random drinks such as the matcha latte, lavender latte, and espresso cloud which is quite tasty. My only complaint is the twix-wannabe Nowhere Bakery cookie is pretty much always listed and NEVER actually available. Stop teasing me Alfred :(!

The drinks were okay, pretty much like any others new wave coffee shop. The burrito that seemed premade was below average. It had quite a bit of moisture in it. I assume taking it from a freezer or a cold refrigerator and heating it could create condensation. The sauce made the burrito tasty. The chocolate croissant was truly good. That said two drinks, one chocolate croissant and one burrito at $42? How? Who could afford that daily? That said there was a line for 30 minutes.

Amazing coffee!! One of the best I've had. We got the cloud latte with dairy and it was soooo goood!! The decaf even tasted amazing. Can't wait to be back for more.

Got UberEats since there is a promo of 15% OFF $12+ orders I was impressed I got my order in less than 30 min! However, I definitely think the drinks are overpriced and not worth the price. I ordered a Matcha Cloud Cream ($9 for a 12 oz). There are 2 options for the Cream Base - Organic Dairy OR Plant-Based Coconut. There are plenty of milk substitutions free of charge so I selected oat milk with less ice. I enjoyed how creamy and how the drink wasn't too sweet. However, I had high expectations for the matcha since I read that they use high grade ceremonial matcha but the matcha was very disappointing. I honestly couldn't taste the matcha at all so I'm skeptical whether they really use high quality matcha. Overall, I felt that the drink was overpriced and wasn't worth the price so this was 2/5. The World Famous Iced Vanilla Latte ($8.40 - 12 oz). There is the option for vanilla or sugar-free syrup, milk substitutions , choice of espresso, ice and sugar adjustments free of charge. The coffee was pretty good. It wasn't too bitter or too sweet. However, I don't think it was worth almost $9 so this was 3/5. Overall, I think the drinks were just ok and definitely not worth the price so I won't recommend or return unfortunately.

I tried the DedCool latte with oat milk (lavender + blueberry + espresso) and I really wanted to like it, but it was honestly not good. For some reason, it had this salty, ginger-like taste. The lavender and blueberry didn't blend well with the espresso, and it didn't even taste much like coffee either. That said, the service was great, and I appreciated that they offered complimentary water and cups on the side for customers, especially during this hot weather.

The service and coffee at Alfred never miss. I'll take it hot or cold. Always hits the spot. I appreciate the friendly greeting whether I'm ordering in or picking up a mobile order.

Vanilla Latte with Almond Milk (with their famous vanilla syrup)
    Diana Z.

Came early in the morning so it wasn't too hectic. The barista was helpful with answering my questions and gave some suggestions when it came to getting a coffee. I ended up getting a vanilla latte, the cloud, and 2 chocolate/walnut cookies. They had several pastries to pick from and they all looked good. The drinks and the cookie were good. It was nice to try a new coffee spot. For 4 items it was around $25 dollars. Not too bad.

Got a breakfast burrito and had the "spiciest" sauce they had. It was very vinegary with little spice. I wish I was told this in order to get a different sauce. The staff is helpful but this place is extremely crowded with little room inside. They do have a seating area outside.

I would like to provide an update regarding my previous concern. The store responded to my email, and I am satisfied with the resolution that was offered. I appreciate the prompt response and the attention given to my feedback. While my initial experience was disappointing, I am pleased with how the matter was handled and resolved. Thank you for taking the time to address my concerns.

Guys at register, nice. 2 female coffee makers? Sassy, rude.
    Tyler B.

Idk if it's only because I tipped 10% but somehow the 4 people behind my got there drinks first. Sassy when I asked if my drink was being made. I also ordered a cold brew... so there's really no excuse on why it should take 12 minutes to make? Talk about sh1tty. The guy was at the register, nice. 2 baristas seemed like they would rather be anywhere else in the world. Which I get, but let's have some customer service, yea?

We arrived just before noon and there was already a wait list and line for a table. When checking in, we were told it would be about a half hour wait or so. It's fine, they take your number and text you to let you know when your table is ready. Also, it's advised to look at the menu beforehand as when your table is ready, you order before being seated. It did take about half an hour or so till we got seated. We originally asked for a table outside but it wasn't available so inside it was. You order before being seated and a number placards is given for the table. Menu, it has a a lot of good dishes to choose from. The last time we were here the meal was great so we knew what to expect again. Started off with some mimosas, which was about 10.00 a glass. Also water was brought out. Every single one of the staff were so friendly which is nice to walk into a place so welcoming. Friendly hi, making sure everyone was taken care of and if anything was needed. Great customer service. Drinks didn't take long to arrive followed by the first item. The cinnamon apple French toast. It was quite nice with the crunch and apple jam. Everything was great when brought out that no extra syrup was needed. Also served with whipped cream. Within a Couple minutes after that, the entrees came out. An order of the kimchi buttered fried chicken Benedict. First off, it was delicious. Two big portions of Benedict, with kimchi added and the chicken had a lot of flavors. It wasn't too powering with the kimchi and worked really well. That came with their potatoes and a side salad. And the Norwegian Benedict with smoked salmon. Basically a smoked salmon Benedict with all the trimmings. The meals were great and the dishes were massive. We've seen a couple of people sharing plates and lots of leftovers. The food was great and delicious. Service didn't take long after ordering and staff were all very friendly. The only waiting was for a table but that's a given during the weekend. They are limited in hours. Mainly breakfast and brunch but the food was great. Until next time. Parking situation is either street parking which is paid with the kiosk as well as the parking structure behind the building.

The hostess let this happen and when I got in front of these overgrown children and told them all to stand behind me and learn some damn manners, the hostess STILL didn't apologize for even speaking to them to begin with. She put my name down and then took the other party. I did notice the female hostess was the only unpleasant employee. I wanted to blame it on age, but another young man who seemed to be doing multiple duties roughly her age (16-7) was very kind and on top of everything- so was all the very young staff inside the restaurant. They were all welcoming, attentive, and gracious. The food? Subpar. We saw so many plates of the Nashville chicken eggs Benedict. We each got one.. we definitely could've gotten different things lol but it's what we were all craving. But because we all had the same thing, we were all able to come to the same consensus- some places are meat free, dairy free, ect but this place is SEASONING FREE! Atrocious. The only spice was a hint of spice as in HEAT not as in FLAVOR. There was no flavor in the chicken, in the eggs, in the coleslaw, no where. And the little side salad that it came with made absolutely zero sense- a bunch of arugula ,with one tiny tomato sliced in half, with some corn sprinkled on top.... I- The restaurant itself was very aesthetic and everyone is having a good time with their families and friends.

Walking in, it definitely has that California/Pasadena neighborhood café vibe, and I was looking forward to a solid breakfast. I'll start with the positive: Joey, the host, was awesome. Great attitude, welcoming, attentive--exactly how you want to be treated when you walk into a restaurant. Unfortunately, it went downhill from there. I ordered bacon medium, and it initially came out crispy. When I mentioned it to the guy bringing out the food, instead of simply saying, "No problem, we'll fix it," I got attitude and a response like, "What is medium?" Second round of bacon was actually good, so obviously it could be done. The biggest disappointment was the chicken fried chicken. The chicken breast was extremely dry. The potatoes were good, the eggs were good, but the main part of the meal just wasn't there. When it was time to pay, Elizabeth brought my check and I politely gave her my feedback. I wasn't asking for anything free. I wasn't trying to get the meal taken off the bill. I paid for my food. I simply explained that the chicken was really dry and asked whether they hear that complaint often. Her response was basically, "Everybody has their own opinion." And that right there killed the experience for me. Of course everybody has an opinion--that's exactly what a review is. But when a paying customer calmly gives you feedback about the food, there's a difference between saying, "I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it, I'll mention it to the kitchen," and basically dismissing them. For a locally known café with this many reviews, I expected more pride in both the food and the customer service. I'm not comparing Millie's to Denny's or some giant chain. I actually expect more from an independent neighborhood café. Joey: great job. Potatoes and eggs: good. Second bacon: good. Chicken fried chicken: dry and disappointing. Handling of customer feedback: terrible. I came in because of the reputation. Unfortunately, my experience didn't live up to it.

Warm, tender, and juicy, with a sauce that had a nice tang and brought some brightness to the dish. The Garlic Prawns were very garlicky, and the flavor was definitely there. That said, they were quite salty on their own, especially since I don't usually eat my meals with rice. I'm also not a huge fan of shell-on prawns, but the taste was still enjoyable. My favorite dish of the night, though, was the Beef Ribs. Probably some of the most tender and juicy ribs I've ever had. The ambiance is dark, moody, and cozy, which made the whole dinner feel intimate and comfortable. Service was also so attentive throughout the night.

We asked our server if the Nasi Goreng was spicy, she said no. We inquired further, pointed at our toddler, and asked "So he can eat it?" She said "Yup"! Well, as you'd guess it.. we gave it to our toddler before we tried it ourselves (oops), and he immediately reached for his water and said "SPICY!!" I think our server had gone on break, so another one came over when we raised our hand. We said we were told the Nasi Goreng was toddler-friendly and not spicy. She said, "Oh yeah, the Nasi Goreng has a kick." Then she went and brought over a gentleman, who we presumed to be the manager? And he apologized and offered us WHITE RICE and added, "That's the best we can do." THE BEST YOU CAN DO?? No, the best you can do is take the Nasi Goreng off our bill, or offer to make us a non-spicy, toddler-friendly dish. Even a simple egg fried rice would have sufficed. If our toddler was allergic to peanuts, and we asked if a dish had peanuts, assured that it didn't, and were then subsequently served peanuts.. would you offer to bring out white rice and then still charge us for the peanuts? (Okay, maybe not the best analogy, but you get my point.) For a place in this price point, customer service has got to step up. Will not be returning.
