I tried- I really did..
Eileen F.

Stopped in after buying shoes at Rothy's next door- and first off I'd like to say the friendliness of the staff just wasn't there! I ordered their famous vanilla latte and it was super sweet! Couldn't drink it! I had previously asked if it was sweet and the barista said the espresso evened it out it wasn't too sweet. There were customers waiting for their drinks- However what caught my eye was when I walked in there was a unhoused man who left a bundle of blankets in the eating area and headed to the restrooms- People were just coming in and heading straight to the restrooms. I was disappointed with this visit-

First time at this location, and unfortunately, not the best experience. I placed an order around 7:30 AM for two drinks. I totally understand it's early in the morning I'm barely waking up too but customer service still matters. I walked up to the cashier and she didn't greet me or say anything. She just looked at me waiting for me to order. I told her I had already placed an order, and she simply pointed to the side and said, "Your drinks are on the counter." Her facial expression made it pretty obvious that she didn't want to be there. she might need to work the afternoon shift if the morning shifts are a drag. I also got a vanilla latte, and honestly, it tasted like pure milk it didn't taste anything like vanilla I don't know if they forgot to add it in or if it was one less pump or something but For almost $9, that's crazy. I'm paying for a coffee, not a cup of milk. Hopefully the experience is better next time!

Came in the other day after workout class and it wasn't too busy on a Saturday morning. I skipped out on the coffee this time and got a ham and cheese croissant and it was so yummy. It was also really huge! There are some seating inside and there's also lots of seating in the corner that runs to the alley in the one Colorado area. Overall had a very relaxing and cozy vibe.

Matcha POG and iced latte

I came back to this location in Old Town Pasadena to meet up with a friend. I decided to try their seasonal drink and it was FABULOUS! I am writing an update so matcha and fruit juice lovers can go and get this amazing seasonal drink: POG Matcha (passionfruit, orange, and guava). It's as if the tropical juices and Matcha had a baby, the baby would be POG Matcha! Service was fine. The servers here usually have good energy. The drink was refreshing and not overly sweet which I enjoyed. I highly recommend snatching one of the small tables outside in the alley in the shade to sip your drinks while working/yapping!

Alfred is a solid cafe for casual coffee runs 9 out of 10 times. Not super craft but way better than many other chains. My husband only ever gets the vanilla latte while I rotate between random drinks such as the matcha latte, lavender latte, and espresso cloud which is quite tasty. My only complaint is the twix-wannabe Nowhere Bakery cookie is pretty much always listed and NEVER actually available. Stop teasing me Alfred :(!

Got UberEats since there is a promo of 15% OFF $12+ orders I was impressed I got my order in less than 30 min! However, I definitely think the drinks are overpriced and not worth the price. I ordered a Matcha Cloud Cream ($9 for a 12 oz). There are 2 options for the Cream Base - Organic Dairy OR Plant-Based Coconut. There are plenty of milk substitutions free of charge so I selected oat milk with less ice. I enjoyed how creamy and how the drink wasn't too sweet. However, I had high expectations for the matcha since I read that they use high grade ceremonial matcha but the matcha was very disappointing. I honestly couldn't taste the matcha at all so I'm skeptical whether they really use high quality matcha. Overall, I felt that the drink was overpriced and wasn't worth the price so this was 2/5. The World Famous Iced Vanilla Latte ($8.40 - 12 oz). There is the option for vanilla or sugar-free syrup, milk substitutions , choice of espresso, ice and sugar adjustments free of charge. The coffee was pretty good. It wasn't too bitter or too sweet. However, I don't think it was worth almost $9 so this was 3/5. Overall, I think the drinks were just ok and definitely not worth the price so I won't recommend or return unfortunately.

The drinks were okay, pretty much like any others new wave coffee shop. The burrito that seemed premade was below average. It had quite a bit of moisture in it. I assume taking it from a freezer or a cold refrigerator and heating it could create condensation. The sauce made the burrito tasty. The chocolate croissant was truly good. That said two drinks, one chocolate croissant and one burrito at $42? How? Who could afford that daily? That said there was a line for 30 minutes.

Amazing coffee!! One of the best I've had. We got the cloud latte with dairy and it was soooo goood!! The decaf even tasted amazing. Can't wait to be back for more.

I tried the DedCool latte with oat milk (lavender + blueberry + espresso) and I really wanted to like it, but it was honestly not good. For some reason, it had this salty, ginger-like taste. The lavender and blueberry didn't blend well with the espresso, and it didn't even taste much like coffee either. That said, the service was great, and I appreciated that they offered complimentary water and cups on the side for customers, especially during this hot weather.

Iced vanilla latte and the greenie

The service and coffee at Alfred never miss. I'll take it hot or cold. Always hits the spot. I appreciate the friendly greeting whether I'm ordering in or picking up a mobile order.

Vanilla Latte with Almond Milk (with their famous vanilla syrup)
Diana Z.

Came early in the morning so it wasn't too hectic. The barista was helpful with answering my questions and gave some suggestions when it came to getting a coffee. I ended up getting a vanilla latte, the cloud, and 2 chocolate/walnut cookies. They had several pastries to pick from and they all looked good. The drinks and the cookie were good. It was nice to try a new coffee spot. For 4 items it was around $25 dollars. Not too bad.

Got a breakfast burrito and had the "spiciest" sauce they had. It was very vinegary with little spice. I wish I was told this in order to get a different sauce. The staff is helpful but this place is extremely crowded with little room inside. They do have a seating area outside.

I would like to provide an update regarding my previous concern. The store responded to my email, and I am satisfied with the resolution that was offered. I appreciate the prompt response and the attention given to my feedback. While my initial experience was disappointing, I am pleased with how the matter was handled and resolved. Thank you for taking the time to address my concerns.

This did not disappoint! I got the pandan latte. Definitely heavier on the vanilla flavor but the pandan still comes through. My mom got the crème brulee latte and it was probably one of the better ones I've had. It wasn't just sweet - you could get the essence of that burnt sugar topping. For food we had the spam kimchi cheese croissant and it was so good! The croissant was nice and flaky. There was the perfect ratio of filling. It is a very craveable sandwich. All of this in itself deserved a 5 star review already, but one more thing happened I need to mention. We were just about to leave and I wanted a straw in my drink. I want to put it in the lid and instead I spilled it all over the counter. A woman who I presumed to be the owner immediately came over to clean the mess and told the girl at the counter to remake me a new drink. Given I was taking care of my mom and my daughter today, that small kindness meant a lot to me. Overall, highly recommend Dash. Good coffee and good people.

Got the Chicken Pesto Panini ($18) and it was pretty good. It was slightly too oily but the ingredients tasted very fresh. The Matcha Latte ($7) was so disappointing. I requested it with less ice and less sweet so I got it 80% full. It literally tasted like milk and I couldn't taste any matcha at all unfortunately. They used to use very high quality matcha but the matcha used now is completely different. I was really looking forward to enjoying the matcha latte because it used to be one of my favorites but this was most likely the worst matcha latte I've had. Overall, the panini was good but the matcha wasn't good at all so I will definitely not get the matcha again!

Mandarin quickly became a TikTok darling, and it has since been featured by the LA Times and The Infatuation. Mandarin is tucked away in the quaint Burlington Arcade on South Lake. The brightly lit, semi-enclosed walkway feels like the streets of London. A firetruck-red telephone booth completes the ambiance. On a weekend morning, the buzzing shop is a stark contrast to the sleepy surrounding storefronts. Mandarin's tiny interior is limited to 4 customers, and it feels immediately serene compared to the shoulder-to-shoulder line. Warm filamented bulbs, pressed-tin ceiling, and dry-brushed slate walls create an industrial-minimalist vibe fitting for the street. Fifties tunes blend with the hum of espresso machines. My fiancee and I arrived before 10AM on the weekend, and we still faced a 20-minute queue down the alley. Once inside, our drinks were promptly prepared to order. We loved the signature "Toasty", an elevated take on milk tea. The spice mix and oat milk combined into a deliciously not-too-sweet drink. Meanwhile, the silky Vienna Latte recalled La Colombe's classic draft latte, but it was decidedly more standard. Lastly, the White Miso Kouign-Amann (billed as a "creme brulee croissant") left us wanting; caramelized sugar collected disproportionately at the bottom. The service was warm and approachable, and pastries and beverages run $5-7 range. Broadly, my fiancee and I agreed that the coffee was good but not quite great, and the pastries weren't worth the premium. While a few other drinks piqued my interest, I can't see myself going out of my way to Mandarin in the future.

Finally visited Jameson Brown Coffee Roasters!…read more Jameson Brown has been on my ever-growing list of coffee shops to try, and I'm so glad I finally made it in! Tucked on a brick corner building in Pasadena, their simple signage is easy to miss (I've driven by so many times and never noticed!), but stepping inside, you find a spacious and inviting interior with ample table options and even a cozy fireplace in the back. Parking is street only, so you might have to walk a bit during peak times, but it's worth it for the atmosphere alone. There are a couple of outdoor tables too, if you want some fresh air. Jameson Brown is an artisan roaster sourcing beans from around the globe, barrels of beautiful coffee beans are on display and you can watch the baristas access them as they craft each drink to order. The menu is displayed on a giant blackboard, with special and seasonal offerings up front by the counter. New pastry selections include treats like calamansi cheesecake pandesal and sticky buns (with vegan options as well). The staff were incredibly friendly, patient, and welcoming as I took my time deciding what to get. I went with my usual vanilla latte, plus their specialty Vienna latte. The espresso in my vanilla latte was bold and delicious, and while I'm not a big cinnamon fan, the Vienna latte (with honey and cinnamon) was perfect to bring home to my husband. I absolvely love how unique and well-balanced this particular drink is - with its Ethiopian cold brew and orange blossom water. What stood out to me was how the zestiness of the orange/lemon/and lime combined complemented the richness of the cold brew. The sugar adds just enough sweetness without overpowering the coffee. I must have ordered the Sicily so many times that they should just name the coffee after me. The staff here is wonderful and the baristas genuinely seem passionate about what they're serving. I know what I like so I haven't gotten around to experimenting with the other coffees, but I can feel the intention behind the menu! I would look elsewhere if you're hunkering down for a place to work but if you're looking for a lively chat with friends, this would be the spot. There is soft, upbeat music playing and this place is popular so people come and go! For Pasadena, parking is surprisingly easy because this is located closer to the edge of the city near a residential neighborhood. Peacocks also frequent this residential neighborhood, which is a fun sight to see. Mandarin 2 is like the cool sibling that I look up to, visionary and cool!
