We have tried the chocolate strawberry mochi and it is a bit too sweet for my preference so we always stick to the traditional daifuku. Today we tried the cream brulee crepe and it was ok. It had the crunchy sugar on top, but the edges of the crepe were burnt and left a weird after taste when we ate it. The Mont Blanc matcha strawberry parfait was delicious- with matcha and vanilla swirl. The Mont Blanc part is definitely the most impressive part and the strawberry, mochi, and soft serve part along with the Mont Blanc created an amazing textural combination. Lines can get pretty long as it's still in their soft opening era but it goes by pretty fast. I decided to try their Mont Blanc and daifuku. 1. Mont Blanc- 7/10 I was expecting the spaghetti to also be matcha flavored but found out later that Mont Blanc is a chestnut, nutty cream which makes more sense. I did really like the subtle texture differences between the Mont Blanc and the soft serve itself. We got the matcha and Hokkaido milk swirl and that tasted really good. The matcha wasn't too bitter and it balanced out the sweetness of the Hokkaido milk. I wish the matcha was a bit more earthy but overall it was still good! I did enjoy the presentation of the staff pumping out the spaghetti; it was fun to watch! 2. Strawberry daifuku- 5/10 Mochi was not soft enough as parts of it were still hard. Strawberry was nice though and i liked the white bean mochi paste inside. Total came out to be almost $16 which is pretty expensive. I've been wanting to try Matcha Ren for so long, so I was excited to see them open at The Shops at Santa Anita. A new matcha spot is always a welcome addition! They are located on the second floor above Din Tai Fung, turn left into the food court section and walk all the way down. I definitely didn't expect the line to be so long as it stretched all the way to Easweet. The wait was about 30 minutes before I got to order. Shoutout to the staff for being patient and professional despite how busy it's been. After ordering, they give you a number and call it when your items are ready. I ordered the Strawberry Mont Blanc Parfait and the Strawberry Daifuku. For the parfait, you can choose your soft serve base to be either matcha or a matcha-and-milk swirl. Honestly, the matcha Mont Blanc itself wasn't what I expected. The texture and taste were more like white bean paste, and I couldn't really taste any matcha. However, the soft serve was delicious! I'd recommend just getting the matcha soft serve if you're looking for a strong matcha flavor (and you'll save a few dollars too). The parfait also had cereal, a couple pieces of dango, and jellies inside. I really enjoyed the daifuku. It tasted fresh, not overly sweet, and the tartness of the strawberry paired nicely with the mochi and white bean paste. There was even a subtle floral note to the flavor, which I liked. She got orders wrong multiple times and never once apologized when guests had to wait for orders to remade. She gave out orders without utensils. No spoons for soft serve or multiple straws for one drink. When calling out numbers for pick up, you could not hear her unless you were standing in front of her so orders just sat with no pick up. I heard one man ask about his order since others after him got their orders. She told him the machine broke but never bothered to inform him and just let him wait for something that was not coming. This place took over the hainan chicken place next to din tai fung. I only got the mochi. They ran out of everything but the mochi with chocolate at 3 pm. They were making more but they said they are taking any out. I would not get the chocolate mochi with strawberry. The mochi was soft but it was mostly chocolate filling. The chocolate filling was tasteless and dry. It didn't taste like chocolate. The strawberry was disappointing beyond recognition. It was more white than red. The barrista was trying to encourage me to try their matcha bean paste on ice cream, what they specialize in but was craving a more fruity drink. The other is more dessert and sweet. Always looking for a new matcha spot nearby and this one just opened in the Santa Anita mall just passed Noodle Street as you walk out towards the outside of the Nordstrom exit. They had a short line but the drinks and desserts were being pumped out really quickly. You get to see them whisk the matcha, make the lattes, and swirl the matcha noodle looking desserts just behind a glass window. My family tried out a few items, the matcha soft serve with rice cakes, the blueberry matcha latte, and the strawberry matcha latte. All of the drinks were good, not overly sweet, although a little grainy with a clear umami grassy flavor but it was good. I also tried a daifuku for the first time and the fresh strawberry wrapped in mochi and bean paste was surprisingly good. The ripe strawberry was definitely the best part. Pricy and deceptive! I stopped by Matcha Ren after wandering around the mall to burn off my dinner. It's my first time trying them out, but didn't opt for their matcha stuff since it was night and I value my sleep. Ended up getting the hojicha latte instead. Hojicha is decent here, but they didn't ask to adjust for sweetness levels. My drink was good, but it was a splurge. They offer dairy replacements, but keep in mind that they don't tell you how much they charge. Oat milk was a 1$ upcharge, so I ended up paying 8$ for a 16 oz cup before tip. I know times are tough and COL has gone up, but yeesh. Would be nice to see how much they charge for the other milk replacements. Not returning. read more

I ordered a matcha latte, but unfortunately, the matcha tasted very chalky and was not enjoyable. I politely asked if I could receive a refund, and the employee assisting me made a genuine effort to help, though she was unable to process it on the register. She then asked her manager for assistance. Unfortunately, my interaction with the manager or colleague was disappointing. He came across as dismissive and told me that a refund could not be issued unless something was "wrong" with the drink.
