Spacious restaurant. We tried 3 dishes, and I would come back for the sizzling Taiwanese steak. The steak is thick and juicy and reasonably priced. I wish they would offer the chicken and pork on sizzling platter too. The pork belly and brisket noodle soup are decent but definitely check out the sizzling steak!
We wanted to try this location but the doors weren't opening even though it said it was open, according to the times. There was a lady inside but she kept on waving a "no" gesture. I don't understand why the schedule says it's open on Saturday at 11am but it was already 11:04 and they did not want to open.
Cafe Spot!!! It used to be in Alhambra!! Super happy to see that they reopened in Temple City. They did make quite a change tho. Earlier when looking at the menu, I noticed that they offered a lot of drinks. The food selections were also somewhat different. We got the baked chicken steak over spaghetti. The spaghetti was good. However, the chicken steak was not good. It didn't taste that fresh. There were lots of chicken skins and it was dry. We also ordered the XLB and egg waffles. XLB was not bad. However, it was sticking to the container. Once I pulled it out, it teared and most of the soup got onto the container. The egg waffle was a bit too sweet. It was not bad, but there are better ones around. For drinks, we got the mango pomelo and earl grey tea (hot). Not bad at all esp for the price. The earl grey was only $1.99 and the pomelo was only $3.99. Pretty decent drinks. I don't think anywhere can beat the prices. Will return to try other drinks
Service is good and fast. Ordered a Teppanyaki New York Steak with spaghetti and Signature Beef Brisket Noodle Soup and Osmanthus Oolong Milk Tea. They were delicious and very filling. I parked on the streets and it's free. They have parking at the back too. I remember the Cafe Spot in Alhambra and it's the same place as before. Very nice place
Foods here are super super super salty. The first time they sent the chicken over, it had turmeric sauce all over. We took a bite and it's like eating salt bomb. Call the server over and he was not happy the hear that chicken was way too salty. We told him may be just get rid of the sauce. The chicken came back and still very salty. I am not kidding. Besides the foods, we just don't have a nice experience here. Servers are not motivated to serve you as well. We will pack these home and try to water it down or something. I do like their drinks though. I don't recommend this place and won't be back, sadly.
This was my first time dining at Cafe Spot, and it was good. First, the environment is friendly and has some Christmas decorations. Apparently, it has a weekday combo special which includes a drink, an appetizer, and an entree. I ordered the fried chicken steak with black pepper sauce, xiao lao bao, and jasmine green tea. The chicken steak was delicious, and the black pepper sauce was tasty. The green tea was not too sweet and had a great tea taste. The service was attentive and good.
We were on Las Tunas Blvd to run an errand when I spotted Cafe Spot and wondered if it was connected to the old Cafe Spot in Alhambra that closed a few years ago. A quick Yelp search confirmed they serve the red wine braised short rib, my favorite dish from the original location, so my boyfriend and I decided to stop by after our errand. We shared the braised short rib, which came with rice, steamed corn, and broccoli. It was exactly how I remembered it: moist, savory, and absolutely delicious. We also ordered an iced tea with a slice of lime, which was really refreshing, and an Earl Grey milk tea with agar boba. The milk tea wasn't too sweet and the agar boba had a great chewy texture. The drink prices were surprisingly affordable at $2.99 for the iced tea and $3.50 for the boba milk tea. For dessert, we ordered a Hong Kong waffle and it was crispy outside and moist inside. It was a good after dinner dessert and paired well with the milk tea. I'm so happy Cafe Spot is back, and I hope they eventually expand their menu like the old location. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better. I'll definitely be returning.
Can't believe the prices on their tea drinks. $2.99 for milk tea and $1.99 for tea. How good can it taste at that price right?! Been here two times now, the drinks have been consistently good. You can order the drinks with less sugar. The drinks have a great flavor and you can really taste the flavor from the tea leaves. The mango pomelo sago was extremely delicious too. It's a smoothie with baby tapioca on the bottom. HAPPY DRINKING!!
At Cafe Spot, I had to get a drink, since they are so worth for the cost and quality. The osmanthus oolong milk tea was very strong in the osmanthus, which is hard to do with a light flavor. I would recommend getting less ice and less sweet. The mango pomelo drink was also super worth for the price and the drink. The mango tasted very good and not artificial and it comes with crystal boba as a topping. One thing that my family all agree on is that the food can be a bit hotter, especially the side vegetables. It seemed like the corn was just thawed and the inside was a bit cold. Sadly, they ran out of the HK waffle, which was something we were all looking forward to, so I'll have to return for it.
If you remember the Cafe Spot on Valley Boulevard, then you'll be familiar with this location. Unlike the original though, this version feels more like half HK cafe and half tea shop. Both the drink menu and food menu feel smaller because of that which could be a positive or negative depending on your preference. For me, I missed a few menu items from the original Cafe Spot and was pleasantly surprised that their bolognese spaghetti tasted about the same as what I remembered. The drinks there were boba tea shop style in both flavor and that they come in similar plastic cups, so no refill and a bit wasteful (I prefer reusable cup option even if it's no refill). And because of this, it doesn't have the usual HK cafe feel where you can get at least one refill on the staple HK style milk tea or lemon tea. Service was alright. Staff seemed a bit toward the inexperienced side compared to what I'm used to expecting in the area. You can generally flag them down and get attention as needed, but occasionally you'll see the younger ones chatting with each other or looking at their phone, which is fair when business is slow and all the orders have been handed off, but during my 2-3 experiences being there, they could try to increase their scanning frequency during down time since I had to wait a little bit to get someone to help me get extra napkins, then later a check and box. Food overall tastes very similar to the original Cafe Spot. Their steak dishes are alright, a bit on the smaller side compared to other HK restaurants and less of the familiar sauce options. The spaghetti and sauce heavy dishes like baked pork are great. Some of the other dishes didn't stand out either in a good or bad way but were a thumbs up/ pass from me. Price was fair and I feel for just the drinks, competitive in pricing actually considering the quality was pretty decent (earl gray milk tea was great) Interior was interesting. Clean and spacious but the feel felt clashing to me. Like they didn't know what they wanted to do. This used to be a tea station and still has that boba shop feel to it but the table layout feels like restaurant. Feels too chill to be an HK cafe for food but too restaurant like to be a hangout/ study Spot. Overall, i like having the OG Cafe Spot food back as an option though their menu is very limited compared to the original. Drinks are good too and overall everything feels passable. I am giving it 4 stars because I felt the hybrid restaurant- tea shop style they went for doesn't really work well and feels awkward, and because the menu and staff feel slightly underwhelming. But I'm comparing this to both the old tea station and old Cafe Spot which I feel influenced the current design
My daughter came down from Merced to visit me so I thought I would bring her to Cafe Spot for lunch since she never been here. I wanted to show her the Chicken Steak that I really liked. It seemed they changed their menu since last time I came. I ordered the Baked Chicken Steak thinking it was my usual. But duh! It's baked, not grilled. In my old age, these descriptive words don't register in my brain. I usually don't like cheese. Lactose intolerant, also caused by old age (sorry, TMI). However, I was pleasantly surprised. It was delicious! Sometimes mistakes are good as in this one. Forgot to take a picture of the food before I ate it. The picture should say how much I liked it. This is a wonderful cafe to come to. Nice Chinese music giving a cozy atmosphere.
They are currently doing soft opening so their teas are only $1.99, milk teas are $2.99, and smoothies were $3.99! Toppings are $0.50 and they do ice & sugar adjustments. Parking was pretty easy since there is a big parking lot behind their cafe but it's shared with other businesses! Service was friendly and welcoming Inside was very spacious and had plenty of seating. Menu had a good variety of drinks and food items (appetizers were $6.99 and most entrees were $15+) The Mango Pomelo Sago Smoothie ($3.99) was pretty good. I got it 25% sweet with less ice and it wasn't too sweet. It had lots of pomelo and sago and it was very refreshing! This was 8/10 The Earl Grey Milk Tea ($2.99) was tasty! I got it 25% sweet with less ice and it was just right! Very strong earl grey and it wasn't too sweet or bitter! This was 8/10 Would definitely recommend and return
July 2026 - After they closed for remodeling and reopened, I recently went and noticed that their menu has shrunken to a fraction of what it once was. Tried the hainan chicken (8.2/10) and beef noodle soup (5.5/10). The super friendly staff that used to be there wasn't present, this time around, either. Less excited to go back now, tbh. read more
The two of us created our own little afternoon tea time when we stopped by at 2pm on a Monday. I was surprised at how affordable the drinks were, ranging from $1.99 to $4.99. I haven't seen prices like that in ages! It reminded me of visiting Cafe Spot back in the day in Alhambra on Valley Blvd. We weren't too hungry, so we shared an order of fried chicken wings and a minced beef with egg over rice. Both dishes were tasty, and we even had leftovers from each. My osmanthus milk tea had a very light floral flavor, but for the price, I really can't complain. You can customize your drink, which I did with easy ice and half sugar. Since we came during off-hours, we were the only customers the entire time and basically had the place to ourselves. First time visiting, spacious restaurant with lots of seating, friendly service, affordable food & drinks. The teas were only $2.99 and they were pretty good. We tried their weekday special, M-F 10a-9p, $19.99 for a drink, dim sum & entree. We enjoyed the Teppanyaki New York Steak, beef brisket rice, pan-grilled pork chop, soup dumplings, chicken feet & jasmine green tea. It's a great place to hang out for drinks & a snack or for a meal. There's street parking & a lot in the back. read more
Came here for their soft opening special on the drinks since they are priced cheaper than other places. The employees were really nice and took my order quickly. I got the Jasmine Green Milk Tea (2.99) with less ice and half sugar. The drinks were ready in about 5 minutes or so and they put it in a drink holder and bag for me. The milk tea was not too sweet and had the perfect amount of tea taste. They have some food on their menu and lots of tables for dine in. It is a pretty casual, similar to the old Tea Station. I didn't get a good look at the other drinks on the menu but I will try coming back again for their drink specials! read more
Unfortunately they have discontinued their weekday combo menu making it less worth the drive for us so we're not sure when we'll next be back. The good news is, their chicken steak is still just as yummy! We ordered: - Grilled chicken steak with black pepper sauce and spaghetti (4/5): Super crispy skin and juicy chicken. The black pepper sauce adds a fragrant touch - much better pairing than the mushroom sauce we got on a previous visit. The spaghetti portion is smaller than at most other HK cafes and isn't as good though. - Baked sole filet with rice and white sauce (3/5): Had high expectations for this dish but it didn't quite meet them. The rice used was plain white rice which isn't what I'm used to at other HK cafes and it left me a bit disappointed since it meant the dish was much more monotone in flavor and there were bites that were unflavorful. The fish itself was generously portioned and easy to eat with the warming cheese and white sauce combo. Wouldn't get again only because I know other spots that do it much better but decent overall. - Beef stew with noodle (3/5): Had expected this to be dry style with the beef stew over softened egg noodles but it came out as a soup. Beef pieces were tender and generous. Egg noodles were a bit overcooked. - Sticky Rice Dim Sum: They were massive and decent in flavor. They were a little mushy I think because it had been steaming a while (which was probably why they were quick to be served) but we didn't mind - Siumai: Generous amount of fish egg on top and was pleasantly meaty. We found parking in the front but also know there's a lot in the back. The restaurant itself is big and pretty empty and quiet. We were glad that service was friendly and quick this visit since the first time we were there one of the servers gave us attitude. read more
I wasn't expecting to be impressed with Cafe Spot. There are so many restaurants similar to this establishment in 626, but Cafe Spot can totally compete! You can really taste the fresh floral notes in the Camellia Milk Tea. Their chicken steak was nice a crisp on the outside, yet juicy and tender inside. It also comes with a delicious black pepper sauce! The fish fillet curry was another yummy dish-tender and full of flavor. There was something different about their braised pork belly. Its sauce is thicker and sweeter than your typical 'hong shao rou,' but my table still licked it! And, on top of everything, the portion sizes will totally leave you feeling satisfied. They're a little short-staffed FOH at the moment, so be patient with them when you're waiting on your beverages. Food was average. Service was extremely slow. They have special sets which is an appetizer, entree and a drink. They even forgot to put in the appetizers which we waited so long we didn't even want it anymore. Apparently their system had a malfunction and it didn't process from front end to back end to show the shumais were placed. The guy (not our waiter) came up to us and told us that and sent us a free egg waffle while we waited some more. Idk but whatever. It's not like the food was exceptional or memorable. Was craving popcorn chicken and friend craving takoyaki. Looking at the menus on Yelp. Looked good so friend and I drove down. When we got there, menu was totally different. Can barely see the English writing. This menu did not have the popcorn chicken or takoyaki on it. We scanned the QR code on table and these items were on there. So menus vary. We also decided to order the tripe and tendon rice dish, but server came and notified us that they didn't have it. For drinks, I got the peach tea w pulp, no sweetness, but the drink ended up having popping boba. The mango pomelo sago was a "milkshake". Wasn't the best. Cheap price. I guess you get what you paid for. Popcorn chicken was excellent. Big chunks and juicy. The takoyaki wasn't all that. I don't think there was any pieces of octopus in the middle. The sauces that were spread on it were good! I used the mayo to dip my popcorn chicken. Dining area is very spacious, bright and clean! read more
Hot and new, Cafe Spot has taken over this corner spot on Las Tunas. I was so excited to try after reading the positive reviews. Specializing in Cantonese food and drinks, my friend and I ordered their Chicken Steak plate and Minced Beef plate, paired with red bean slush and a classic milk tea with boba. Loved the bold flavors and tangy sauce on the chicken steak. The minced beef was also delicious, a Cantonese staple. I loved how spacious the restaurant is, they even have claw machines. The staff were super friendly and even walked us through their lunch specials and drink deals. If you're looking for a delicious lunch spot with vast drink options, this is it! read more

This is a new place but they already had a change of manager. I noticed there are more and more people here each time I drive by so I decided to pop in one afternoon. The menu is more extensive than I had expected. Apparently they started with drinks only, gradually added appetizers and now they have full meals available and the price point is reasonable. My only complaint is the place stinks a bit so I prefer to take the food to go. I ordered a taro slushy and popcorn chicken but next time I will try their Cantonese dishes. I decided to try this restaurant based on the many high reviews, but after my experience, I began to question their authenticity. A large number of the reviews appear to be from "elite" reviewers or brand-new accounts with only one review, which felt concerning in hindsight. When I arrived, the restaurant itself was nice--beautifully designed, modern, and clean for an Asian café. It was also fairly empty at the time, so I expected the food to come out quickly. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case, as there was still a noticeable wait. I ordered two of the special sets, which included an entrée, a drink, and a dim sum item. Once I got home, my husband was excited to try the food but immediately noticed that the siu mai was unusually chewy. After a few bites, he inspected it more closely and realized the meat was not fully cooked and appeared raw. This was extremely upsetting and made him feel sick to his stomach. I was completely disgusted after that and lost my appetite, so I couldn't finish my meal. To make matters worse, the following day my husband experienced diarrhea three times, which we believe was caused by the undercooked food. Overall, this experience was very disappointing. While the restaurant looks appealing, food safety is non-negotiable, and this visit left us with serious concerns. read more

There's free parking in the back, but it's limited. We were able to park across the street at the other public parking. We came on a Saturday afternoon. The place wasn't busy, only a few tables. It's cool that they had arcade games and Halloween drinks. They had a game where you can shoot a dart for every $30 you spend. The place still had the Tea Station vibe. Got the 咖喱牛腩 or Curry Beef Brisket with 意粉 or Spaghetti for $15.95. The curry was really good, but there was so little spaghetti for the curry. We total regret getting Spaghetti. Should've gotten rice with the curry. Also got the 焗鸡扒意粉 or Baked Chicken Steak over Spaghetti for $14.95. This dish was really good. They didn't skimp on the cheese or spaghetti. The 鹽酥雞 or Popcorn Chicken for $7.99 was really good. The chicken pieces were big and they didn't use too much batting. Unfortunately we ask for the chili powder on the side, but they incorporated the chili powder in the dish. For drinks we got the 炭香招财 (碳培乌龙) or Roasted Oolong Milk Tea for $2.99, 桂语清风 (桂花乌龙) or Osmanthus Oolong Tea for $1.99, and 招财百香 (百香绿) Passion Fruit Green Tea for $2.99. They gave us Osmanthus Oolong Milk Tea instead of Osmanthus Oolong Tea so we had wait for our drinks a second time. All the drinks were good for the price. We ordered using our phone. We didn't like how they messed up two of our orders when they weren't busy and they had 2-3 waiters. The dart game was fun. read more
My family really likes Cafe Spot in Temple City. It's a fairly new location, and it's convenient for my family. I ordered the Red Wine Braised Rib Steak since I noticed mostly every one else has it on their table. It's actually very good and the meat is super tender. I can see why a lot of customers order the same thing. They have a big drinks menu as well. To my surprise they're kind of cheap in today's standards. My mother-in-law ordered the chicken steak but it was just mediocre. Anyway, I shall be back to try other items on the menu! read more

We came in for a quick drink and snack. There was a line for to-go orders. It did take a while for all the food to be made fresh. It was good to see the staff cleaning and checking on the customers that were dining in. The tea was good and refreshing. We will come back for a quick tea. Maybe not for snacks if in a hurry. read more

I decided to try cafe spot after feeling some nostalgia of the old cafe spot that was located on valley in alhambra, and I did not leave disappointed. while not the same as the old Cantonese style restaurant in alhambra, this new restaurant also serves Hong Kong style dishes, with some fun snacks that you would expect from a boba shop like popcorn chicken and fries. the chicken curry was fragrant and used very juicy pieces of boneless chicken and potatoes, and was actually exactly the same as I remembered from the old cafe spot (but again is not the same restaurant XD). the minced beef with rice was also flavored well and mixed well with the rice. they also have different types of milk/fruit teas for just $2.99, which is almost impossible to find nowadays and the tea was actually very fragrant! I will definitely be coming back for the curry and the affordable drinks! read more
