    Popcorn Chicken
    John W.

Kitty's Cafe is a Taiwanese style eatery in the north side of the SGV. We stopped by to grab a quick snack. This used to be Copycat Cafe as a heads-up for those wondering. When you come inside, you'll notice a retro look as there are things that still are in transition from Copycat. But that doesn't mean that the food itself was solid. We ordered a set of popcorn chicken for the road and after about 10 minutes, we got our bag full of popcorn chicken goodies. The chicken was delicious - not too crispy and super flavorful. Had a slightly sweet flavor and was nice and hot. The only thing that would've helped would have been some sweet and sour sauce. At least on the weekend, there's plenty of parking in front of the restaurant. The owners are super nice. Know they commented to us that they have been having a tougher time during the pandemic with some lost business around town so they could definitely use the help!

when the lady said they were out of boba and takoyaki I knew the food was going to slap. They make taiwanese food with rice and broccoli l. I got the pork chop. crispy and flavorful. don't let the storefront fool you. the winter melon tea was also very nice and intense. And for the price you can't beat it.

Long read...Okay I by chance found this place. For those that want inexpensive, simple and well rounded meals this is a place to go. It's a mom and pop shop and presentation of the place isn't anything to write about, except for the price for the food you get and the great taste! It seems like this is a hidden, low key, gem of sorts - look at the photo of the two plates. Two plates and a boba drink cost me $20.95!! For the amount of food, comparing this to escalating prices elsewhere, this place is a good value! The way I eat my meals, this is an opportunity to counter act the inflationary aspect of food, possibly a plan is to come in and buy like 10 plates with differing mains based off their menu and throw them into the freezer for the week and microwave what you want to eat. I (me) can get two meals out of a plate so technically I can eat for a work week for a little less than $50! Cash only place!!!

This place use to be Copycat Cafe, but it seems to be renamed now, although retaining the same menu. I use to come at least once a week back in high school, and still come sometimes for their rice bowls and drinks! Affordable, and an all around great place to come for locals. When I visited, they weren't open but I'll be sure to come back another time!

Fb group removed my neither bashing nor negative review, it was an honest review so people can see different point of view!

Somehow my fb pic doesn't show up. I would give it 3.5 stars if I could. My comment was removed by fb group called SGV Eats. I know it has nothing to do with the owner. But my comment was not negative nor bashing, was hoping to give honest feedbacks. Very disappointed by the fb group!!! I am posting it here so people can see it. The comment I made on fb was that for the set dinner, there wasn't much difference between the 2 vs 3 vs 4 ppl in terms of amount of food. I don't mind paying more for more food, but if it didn't make much of a difference then I would opt for the cheaper set. At least one other commenter agreed with me. But yet fb group didn't allow me to post anything less than a raving review. I don't want other people to complete believe what the fb group says. Why can't I leave honest review like this? It is to make the owner know what he can do to improve customers' experience!

The food here is awful. I ordered Hainan Chicken and it was microwaved and bland. The pork chop is a little better but I would go elsewhere if taste is important to you. Sometimes we find restaurants than look crappy but serve up great food. The food match show this place looks.

I am extremely disappointed in the food quality of this place. I've ordered tons of Taiwanese food deliveries from various places throughout the pandemic, and I have never had such bad experience. Of the food we ordered, we got spoiled Taiwanese sausages, burnt meatballs, burnt fried fish cake, and oyster pancake completely made wrong without gelatin. I will not be returning.

They have daily family meal special. Food was delicious and it came with authentic Cantonese soup. You can use WhatsApp to join their mailing list. 626-348-1338

I would have never ordered it if my cousin didn't recommend it to me because the name is unfamiliar. lol. So glad I tried it. The barley jelly is tasty and has great texture. It goes so well with the ember milk tea. It's not overly sweet either. It's a refreshing drink. All their teas have been pretty good. I wasn't a fan of the popcorn milktea. It was just ok for me. I'm surprised it's not as busy as like Molly Tea. I think Toroteas is better than Molly Tea. You can tell they use high quality tea in their drinks.

Staff immediately welcomed us in and offered a sample of their location exclusive Pinewood Pure Tea. The aesthetics are nice at this location as compared to the others. The seating is all along the hallway and the vibe is much more chill here. We opted to try the Pinewood Pure Tea as the sample tasted really good! We received the drink within minutes. Took some time to relax and wind down inside Torotea. It was nice and cool inside on these hot summer days. That Pinewood Pure Tea was top tier! Shout outs to the staff for the hospitality and service! This location is solid! Good vibes! ( ^_^)b

The parking is easy as there are spots in the front or behind the business. The spot has outdoor seating and a long counter inside to enjoy your drinks. Kiosk ordering is offered at this location. The staff greeted us and took our orders and we decided to try an extra drink this time. He allowed us to substitute our milk for oat milk which is always a positive. The sweetness and ice can be adjusted to your liking. We ordered: Iron Goddess Milk Tea (SGV boba passport) Gyukuro Tea (SGV boba passport) Ice Matcha Latte (additional purchase) All the drinks came out together and ALL of them I enjoyed. My wife agreed that both the milk tea and regular tea options tasted great. Their Ice Matcha Latte was yummy. The taste was not bitter and the sweetness level was perfect without any adjustments. Chapresso is a trustworthy spot for tea, milk tea and matcha in my opinion. I have had good experiences and drinks here each time we visit. ( ^_^)b

My daughter and I came on a Wednesday evening after visiting the excellent Dumpling Wei next door. We were welcomed into a busy, student-filled cafe. The decor is understated, worn, and very student driven, with a charming sign offering a free milk drink to any student who ordered a full meal during a challenging exam week - how kind [+1 point for service]. We ordered from a screen; call me old fashioned, but I like being greeted and the place wasn't busy enough to justify such a streamlined experience. We ordered the original waffle with vanilla ice cream. It took about 10 minutes as we entertained ourselves with the claw machine and got lucky - twice. The waffle was crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, with a distinct fortune-cookie flavor. It was delicious, and paired perfectly with the vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. We did not get a filling nor try the delectable appearing chocolate waffle - next time! Prices were elevated - $8 for the waffle and $2.50 for the ice cream (complete with whipped cream and chocolate syrup), but the unique product was absolutely delicious. While my undergraduate career was 20 years ago, I really can appreciate a place like this. Were I a student at PCC, I would simply live at this establishment. Good for a quick dessert and perfect for students, Bubble Puff & Tea is well worth a stop. Food: 4.5/5 Ambiance: 3.5/5 Service: 4/5 Value: 3.5/5

3/5 stars I found…read moreBubble Puff & Tea after searching for local boba spots near Pasadena City College since I was meeting up with my sister in the area. There were quite a few boba shops nearby, but honestly the business name alone caught my attention and made me choose this one. The shop is conveniently located directly across from Pasadena City College, which makes it a great spot for students looking to grab drinks or food between classes. The downside is parking. There's very limited parking in the back and a lot of nearby residential streets have "no parking" signs, so finding a spot can be a little annoying. The shop itself is a decent size and definitely seems popular with students hanging out, studying, or working on assignments. Personally though, the atmosphere didn't feel especially warm or cozy to me compared to some other boba shops I've visited. The layout also felt a bit narrow, which was difficult navigating with my son's stroller. That said, what the shop lacked in atmosphere for me, it definitely made up for with the drinks and food. I ordered a 16 oz jasmine milk tea and even though I had to pay extra for boba (which brought the total to almost $5.50), the drink itself was honestly pretty good. I was also hungry, so I tried the pork buns, which ended up being tasty and surprisingly filling. You get four for around $13. While I do think you could probably get a larger meal elsewhere for the same price, the quality itself was still good. One thing I appreciated is that they have a larger food menu than most boba shops. Besides milk teas and fruit teas, they also offer popcorn chicken, appetizers, soups, rice dishes, sandwiches, smoothies, coffee, and even ice cream drinks. Customer service was excellent. The staff were polite, efficient, and kind throughout the visit. Overall, I think this is a solid spot for Pasadena City College students looking for a place to study, hang out with friends, or grab a quick meal and boba. I do think the shop could benefit from adding a little more personality and warmth to the space... maybe board games, student artwork, or more fun décor would help make it feel more inviting and memorable???
