I was craving an agua fresca, but unfortunately this place was a huge disappointment. When I asked to sample the drinks, one of the employees opened a container and immediately made a disgusted face. He looked over at his coworker, who also appeared visibly disgusted, and they just stared at each other for a moment before deciding to serve it anyway. That immediately made me question the freshness of the drinks. I ended up choosing a different flavor, so I didn't think much more about it at the time. Later that day, I came down with severe food poisoning. My boyfriend ate the exact same food that I did and was completely fine, so the only thing I had that he didn't was the agua fresca. While I can't say with absolute certainty that it was the cause, the timing--combined with the employees' reactions when opening the drink--left me with serious concerns about the freshness of their beverages and their food safety practices. One of my favorites in the mall! They are always so friendly so we finally decided to check them out. The agua Fresca was super sweet but delicious (strawberry dragonfruit). I'd want to try some of their other flavors too. My favorite was the steak burrito. The steak was cooked perfectly, nicely seasoned, and fresh. I stopped by Sunday Cafe in the mall and instantly loved the energy from the guys working there. They greet everyone, offer free samples of their agua frescas, and really make you feel welcome right away. It has that friendly, neighborhood spot vibe even though it's inside the mall. I ordered asada nachos, an asada torta, and a side of rice. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and the portions were solid for the price. For drinks, I tried the cantaloupe and lemon agua frescas and they were amazing - super refreshing, not overly sweet, and you can really taste the fresh fruit. I've been wanting to try it ever since it opened in the mall and I finally got the chance. It's right at the main entrance of the mall to the food court. Can't miss them they are super bright and have their aqua frescas all laid out. You order at the register and they are all super nice. They offer samples of the aqua Frescas to make sure you like what you get. They also make suggestions if you aren't sure. I got their quesadilla and dragonfruit strawberry aqua Fresca. The quesadilla was a lot and even came with rice! Definitely enough for me to share with my sister. The aqua Fresca was a suggestion by the man at the counter and I liked it! I went to this place to order steak fries after we saw someone with a plate of it and wanted to try it out. This chain has been in many of the food festivals especially the 626 night market. They always offer everyone free samples of the many drinks they serve. They have the colorful drinks displayed in the front. Their grill is also viewable so you can see how they cook their dishes. The staff are always helpful. On a Sunday afternoon, there was a line and wait but not as slow as the other places. I ordered the steak fries with everything which was about $15. The wait wasn't more than ten minutes, they will call out your order number so don't go far. The steak fries had nacho cheese, pieces of steak, sour cream, jalapeño salsa, and grilled onions. It was actually pretty spicy, I didn't know and wish I asked before ordering it with everything. The fries were crispy, the steak was tender, the sauce had a good flavor as well. After a while the fries Will gets soggy so best to eat it when it's fresh. read more

This review is for the Agua Fresca at a festival and not for the brick and mortar location. We went to the 4th of July Celebration at Rosemead Park this year and last year. Both times, we got an Agua Fresca at Sunday Cafe's stall. I gotta say the Aquas are top-notch here! We got the Strawberry Lemon and it had bits of strawberries in it. It tasted very fresh! Been here 2 xs. Order takers are ok. They try to be helpful and offer samples . They are a little loud and aggressive for our taste. We got the chicken plate, French toast breakfast, and steak plate on our two visits as well as a pineapple drink. Chicken was very good and well flavored but came with a very spicy salsa which was good but pretty hot. Steak was not tough and well marinated. French toast was just ok. Their scrambled eggs are very good. Rice was well seasoned. Chilaquiles with the steak just ok, bit soggy. The pineapple drink was not too sweet. There is a big lot and parking garage for the mall, but it gets crowded at peak hours and on weekends. We usually bring our own drinks in a small cooler or water bottles. Horrendous! A friend recommended this place and I stopped by while at the mall. The pricing is crazy. $24 for a "chicken meal" and that includes the whopping $6 fruit drink. The cashier who hawks free samples very loudly while you are ordering said it woudl be 10 minutes. It was almost 30. I watched as my "chicken" sat on the grill buried in grease. Turns out I was waiting on the white rice to get ready. But cashier guy wasn't interested in details, just yelling to the open mall that he did samples of their over-sugary drinks and talking to his friends as they passed by. My friend is a gym colleague and I am shocked she calls this healthy. It is the complete opposite. But hey -- it's a mall. I should have known better. The "chicken" was NOT breast or anything near quality. It was sinous dark meat that looked and tasted like it came from a chicken mc nugget factory. Tough as nails. My plastic fork couldn't even cut it. Certainly the cheapest, lowest grade chicken known to man. If this lunch was $10 instead of $24, I would not have bothered for the review. However, food is super expensive now and they should provide top quality products for the price. I am sure these kids are working hard to please the boss, but they are pushing sad, sub par food. Never tried the food here but this is my go to place in the mall when I want something to drink. They have many flavors of agua frescas and are generous with samples. All the flavors taste good assuming you don't have issues with that fruit flavor. And, they will mix flavors too so the pineapple+mango is the best combo IMO. read more

I tried their Steak Plate - it was decent, but in retrospect, I regret not getting the bacon wrapped hot dog instead. The service here is outstanding - they made a mistake and gave me fries instead of salad (which I had requested) with my steak. When I pointed out the error, they just went ahead and gave me a separate container of salad (gratis) without question or hassle. This place use to make great steak fries. But not anymore. I got an order with great chopped steak and pico de gallo. But this particular day , their fries were just sitting and got cold and hard and they thought they could cover it up with great topping but it was like chewing rocks with a great topping. I had to give this place a really good review because I'm a sucker for their teddy bear drink holders they're so adorable! And they light up if you press the button underneath! This is a good sized food stand in the mall food court with an impressive plethora of agua frescas that range from mildly sweet with high fiber content to summer sugared goodness. And every employee here in each section of the food stand worked on point it was amazing to see young people who understood what quality service means !
