THE DARKINATOR!! Some smashed patties, some chilli, some tri tip, all on this incredible UBE BUN
    Ryan R.

Absolutely stellar culinary (and vibes) experience, hidden off the beaten path. Make your journey, it's so worth it. I joined Yelp because I absolutely love owner operators with passion, because they make a better product and love to make things better. Nobody I've ever found has embodied that more than Chef Darko. First off, the whole parking lot setup had room for my toddler daughter to play and pick flowers, and run over to me for the next round of deliciousness. My wife found a spot near her on the bench, while Chef Darko and I chopped it up a bit while he cooked. His story is one of realizing the things that really make us happy, and that by focusing on making something incredible from our own heart, the outcome can never be wrong so make that dream happen by any means available. Ugh, man I'm a fan for life. My man also has some good tunes keeping the vibe more than the sizzling of burgers. His creativity on the spot at the end of the day created one of most epic burgers I've ever had. We agreed we'd call it the Darkinator. My man really had a few things at the end of the day and created a fat boy challenge that I'll never forget. How many kinds of meat can a man handle? Oh, we WILL find out! Also, I'm a bit of a birria connoisseur so I had to try Chef Darko's take on it. A beautiful dish, with the acidity to cut through it all. The most original take that still was solid birria. And Da OG! This is what got us to swing by in the first place and it hit the spot, and a perfect bun because it wasn't too bread-y like some buns can get. His fresh made ube buns were just hands-down amazing. Wrapped around all of this amazing flavor, you can't help but feeling happy with each bite. Go and see the cool kid spot before it gets blown up. We made a decent detour on our little roadtrip to go out there and were rewarded with core memories. Thank you Chef Darko!

Chill place with great food! I went last week for the first time and the chef complemented me on my SOAD shirt so we were talking about them for a bit. I came wanting to try the burger on the ube bun which is called the OG because he was the first to do the ube buns, which he told me he makes fresh each day. He was nice enough to give me one birria taco on the house. I also appreciated that he was willing to grill the onions for my burger. Everything was great! The burger was delicious and tasted high quality. And since I came here in a burger mood and not as much in a taco mood, the taco was a surprise star for me! Apologies for the partially eaten food pics but when I saw the food, I just wanted to dig in! I'll definitely be back. I got my food to go but I'd like to try it there at the brewery another time.

I have never had a tastier hamburger in my life It's all homemade and the chef is a class act. I encourage everyone reading this to give it a chance. I got to try the homemade chili and it was equally as amazing. Every element of the smash burger went perfectly together. The sauce was divine (as if made by God himself). The ube bun was perfectly balancing sweet and nutty flavors. The onion were grilled to perfection, and pickles resting perfectly on the patty. I want to go eat another one just typing this review...

10/10 burger! The OG burger was so bomb. The ube flavor is very subtle and overall, so delicious! Definitely recommend if you're craving a good burger

The burger was great! The ube bun is a mixture of a potato and kings Hawaiian roll. Definitely want to try the rest of his menu next time.

The King of Sierra Madre, Chef Darko is delivering heart-felt fast casual delights like Smashburgers and corned beef on ube buns with his super special goddess sauce. His passion for excellent food and genuine vibes shine thru his creations and character. Thank you, chef!

Good food and friendly service! Love the beers at the brewery too. Get the chili with cheese and onions

AMAZING!!!! MUST TRY... This guy blew me away. Read the reviews and thought, yeah right. I would easily say it was the best burger I have ever had. NO JOKE! Simple burger, but the way the flavors come together, incredible. You must go visit this guy. My son couldn't put his burger down until he finished it, and it was big for him.

We love coming to RT Rodger's in Sierra Madre and enjoying a delicious ube burger with a cold beer or seltzer. Darko's burgers are SO good and so unique! Such a fun meal.

Chef Darko always comes in clutch! From tacos to burgers & hot hogs (with his very unique twist) my girlfriend and I always make a point grab a bite when visiting our favorite micro pub! All I'm gonna say is you NEED to try the Ube Smashburger. No exaggeration, it's one of the most unique and flavorful burgers I've ever had, and I've had my fair share of smashburgers over the years. The buns are made fresh daily, soft, slightly sweet, and it brings everything together in the best way possible. Also, if you get the chance, chat it up with Remrick. Super chill, down to earth guy who clearly loves what he does and is just good vibes all around. Do yourself a huge favor and check this place out.

We arrived by 0715 so it was easy to find parking. Check in went pretty smoothly. Thrilled to get the Mission 2 Mission t-shirt!! There didn't appear to be that many runners/walkers. Most were runners. Some were young kids. There were even a few moms with baby strollers. Totally enjoyed running/walking past the houses. Really loved the drummers which helped me to pick up my pace. Only one water station, but that was fine because it was a cool morning. Finished in about 50 minutes. I wasn't last so I was thrilled. Got a cool looking medal. Afterwards we looked at the few venders that were there. Got a free drink thanks to my daughter and Instagram. Great way to start my morning!

The event started at 9a.m. and ended at 4p.m. This is my first time attending this event with my family. We got there around 10a.m. and started on Mission St in San Gabriel. (you had the option to choose between different routes for a starting point). The event was very organized and they provided free Pocari Sweat drinks when we got there. They had 3 hub locations San Gabriel, Alhambra and Pasadena as well as activity zones and places for you to stop and rest. Each activity hub offered core services, including live music, entertainment, and games. It was a fun experience even though we didn't complete the whole "mission" but we passed 2 hubs (San Gabriel and Alhambra). Free bike and roll valet parking (for strollers, scooters, bikes, skateboards, etc.) Water stations were provided to stop and refill. Hand-wash stations and restrooms were also available. It was great to see many people participating with their kids, friends and family by walking, biking, running, etc. The traffic was also directed well. Weather was perfect. Will definetely come back and do this with family again. P.S. I'm surprised that no one wrote reviews for 626 Golden Streets on Yelp this year.

However, we saw tons of free neighborhood parking in the area after we got dropped off by Lyft. Check-in was super easy. The tasting glasses were nice and noticeably larger than ones we received at another beer festival in Claremont a few weeks ago. Instead of carrying around tickets, we each received a 10-drink punch card attached to a lanyard. Even being there from 4:45-8pm when the event ended, we didn't end up using all of our punches! Same thing for our 15 tickets at the last festival we attended. Once you start chugging IPA "samples" and mixing that with wine, you'll see what I mean lol. There was quite the variety of brews to taste. Our fav thing was probably the margarita wine from a winery out of Irvine. What a fun and tasty idea! The same guy also had a really good sangria. For telling a joke at a different stand, you could get a really cool, high quality bottle opener shaped like CA with a wine glass on it. That was prob my fav take home thing from the event! The only downsides of the event were the heat and the food. Obvi the event can't control the weather, but there was very little shade provided. There were only 3 food trucks, not a lot of variety. It took over 20 min for us just to get 4 basic tacos from the taco truck despite there only being 2-3 orders ahead of ours. Would I go back to this next year? Yes! We enjoyed the variety of breweries and wineries. When you don't get out much, events like this are the perfect places to try things we otherwise would never get to go to, all in one place! There were plenty of beer companies representing, and 2 wine companies. We drank lots of wine and didn't even use up all the punches on our punch cards. With no waits and friendly company reps, we really enjoyed the event. Just a couple suggestions to the organizers: 1. Plan out the shade angle and food truck positioning next event, as to order and wait for food we were standing in direct 100 degree sun. Flipping the position of the trucks so they would provide shade to waiting customers would be ideal! 2. Additional non-beer options would be great (more wine!).

My fondest memories of Friday nights after school was walking around here and getting some honey stick samples, checking out the produce, and enjoying the smell of kettle corn. The farmers market evolved from a dozen tents of goods/local produce, kettle corn, petting zoo and a few food stalls to such a bustling huge community of independent owners showcasing their homemade, handmade, unique, and local items and edible goodies. Now there's inflatable rides and bouncers, a whole section of food stalls and food trucks, live music and performers, balloon animal makers, and the whole place stretches multiple blocks. The petting zoo became bigger and has pony rides, the kettle corn now has two stalls to make sure you don't miss them, and the local produce are still there with their free samples. The one thing I realized is how prices skyrocketed, you can expect to spend somewhere around 20-30$ for something at a homemade/handmade stall but the story and history they'll tell you about what your buying makes it worth the buy usually. The free samples will lure you in and you'll feel like if you don't buy something you're missing out! Even the stores that have been around for decades are open later than other days to accommodate curious passers. Unfortunately, it's sad to see the old places have gone. But it's also exciting to see new places emerge and grow. It's now a rare occasion for us to visit since it can be a bit expensive if you want to eat, play on the rides, and go into the petting zoo.
