Full disclosure: I have (embarrassingly) never sat down for dinner at Nosh! I have spent many a happy hour at the bar, and enjoy sampling their selection of pizzas and SNACKS. The space is absolutely beautiful and situated in a super convenient spot with ample parking. The Nosh happy hour is one of the best in town with $6 cocktails/wine, $5 draft beer, and 50% off pizzas. Whether it is a post-work drink with friends or a solo beverage wind-down after meetings, the bar staff is always attentive, kind, and ready to whip up a delicious cocktail. The full menu is eclectic with some asian influence - but there is absolutely something for whatever your palate is feeling that day. Ever since Nosh opened, I've been struck by their clear commitment to collaboration (many menu items are associated with NFPs that change quarterly). We're some out of towners looking for a great meal - enter Nosh. We came with 2 local pals who had been here before and spoke very highly of it. We also knew going in, after looking at the menu online, that we wanted to go big and get the tomahawk. We.......did not have a shortage of food THAT IS FOR SURE. We ended up getting noshos and bao to start which is maybe where we went off the rails because when the tomahawk came we were like oh boy. The tomahawk was a great experience, I loved the added touches of roasted onion and garlic. There was also like a huge mountain of french fries to go with it which was just....magnifique. Let me start off by saying that I have only been here for dessert and drinks. But I have never been disappointed with anything I have ordered. I still dream of the creme brûlée they offered a couple years ago before the pandemic and wish it would come back to the menu. We stopped randomly on a Friday night around 8 PM. We were lucky to be able to find two seats at the bar. I definitely recommend that you make reservations if you are trying to get a seat at a reasonable time. We ordered fried dough. It was fresh and delicious. You could taste the yeast in the bread! This definitely is not your normal state fair fried dough. It was less greasy and more bread like. What a delight! I also had the Kamikaze Nuevo. It taste like a boozey cream sickle. We have been so happy with nosh that we made dinner reservations for us and friends when they are in town for Christmas. The Neighborhood of the Arts is becoming tony as more upscale restaurants and breweries open in the area. At the restaurant there is plenty of parking but it fills up. nosh, spelled with the lower case "n" is an Asian/Southwest fusion restaurant. The bar is "U" shaped and is just to your right as you enter the dining area. There is seating adjacent to the bar. It is a pleasant place to rest if you need to wait for a table. The menu categories are salads, "pickings", pizza and entreés. The portions of everything, including the pickings, are generous and easy to share. We started with Ahi Noshos and Calamari. Both dishes had some spice. The chips for the Noshos were house made and the serving size is large. The squid was delicious but our portion could have been cooked a little longer. The Entreés are exceptional. The Crazy Chicken is a katsu style breaded chicken cutlet, with avocado, tomato, cucumber, jalapeno, crema, cotija, arugula and a black bean puree. You will want to bring home what you cannot consume. It heats up well. The prime rib special was 14 ounces of melt in your mouth beef. The Kimchee Noodles are out of this world with umami. Made with Korean udon noodles, shrimp, house kimchi, soju and assorted vegetables. It was one of the dishes that was completely consumed at the table. The Cola Burger is eye-popping when it comes to the table. You can hardly imagine getting your mouth around it to take a bite. Don't be bashful. It is served with French fries, and made of wagyu beef, cola braised bacon, gruyere cheese, tomato jam, arugula and a garlic aioli. Of course there is dessert, but you want to cry because you are so full. Nevertheless, order it. read more

Nosh either doesn't know how to listen to their customers, or most likely chooses not to listen, which I'm afraid is far worse. If I could speak in Negligence, perhaps they would listen. But sadly, I'll never know as I'll never give Nosh another thought, let alone step foot there. Our tomahawk order on the evening of 12/14/2024 was contaminated with glitter and dense resin beads that cracked my tooth and resulted in a dental visit. They make keeping food clean seem harder than brain surgery. I will be notifying my friend who works in Monroe County Restaurant Inspections of this transgression because Nosh doesn't listen and has not addressed my concerns satisfactorily. Our most recent dining experience was great. We made reservations a few weeks in advance being that it was the weekend after Valentine's Day. We arrived early and sat at the bar until our take was ready. Our libations of choice included the, "Jalapoma," and the, "Where's my car?" The Jalapoma had a kick to it. If you like spice, you'll find this delightful. Both drinks had very distinct flavor profiles and were expertly crafted. The shining stars were the entrees. I had the melazana. The balsamic reduction and sauce were the perfect pair for this dish. I also love the added arugula. The melazana can easily rival my favorite lasagna in a small Parisian restaurant that we tried over the summer. It is outstanding and highly recommend for all. The mister raved about the chili chops. They, too, had a kick of spice, but he welcomed it and complimented the chef on the meal. For dessert we had the Tres Leche and fried dough. Everything can't be perfect and so this is where the meal fell flat for me. The fried dough was good, but the Tres Leche, not so much. It is better at D'Mangu. We have been to Nosh a couple of times. The first time was for a private birthday celebration and the second time this past weekend. Both times, the food has been excellent and the service is outstanding. It's been a while (as you can see) since I've been here. My experience years later has declined. I want to start by saying that I will still probably go back but, the experience wasn't the same. We went on a Friday night. The vibe is still the same and the staff is extremely efficient. However, it's missing the "charm" that it used to.l have. The front of the house was amazing. Friendly and personable. Our waiter was about 75% attentive and you could tell he was working hard. He did his job but, I sort of got the feeling he wasn't happy to be there. He seems like an efficient employee but, not really friendly or personable. That however, wasn't my issue. The food was... We ordered the shrimp toast and cold avocado soup for appetizers. The shrimp toast was decent and the soup was good but, it comes with dollops of fresh crab and I got so many mouthfuls of shells that it was inedible. We then ordered the tomahawk steak. We ordered it medium. Everything was so incredibly burnt that it wasn't enjoyable at all. Everything on the platter was just tasteless or all we could taste was the burnt outside. I actually enjoyed the steak the next day more when I took off the outer skin and fried up the onions, steak and fries (they were soggy from the steak on top) the next day. When you have leftovers you look forward to enjoying the meal again and get disappointed bc it's just not the same. However, this time I enjoyed the leftovers more than the actual meal in the restaurant...for $120 for an entree I don't think I will order this ever again. I feel that this place is so efficient that it runs like a factory forgetting their hospitality and detail to food. Which is why I say it's lost its "charm" and the food is proof. This is my number one special occasion pick. You'll find decor that is modern but warm and inviting. Before Covid we would hit the bar for happy hour for great food and drink specials. These days we are rarely going out but have gotten Nosh take out a few times. They just reopened this week and we have been craving the melenzana so got it the second night they were open (they were fully booked by 4 on Friday). This is the best eggplant parm in the city. Sweet balsamic, basil and a slightly spicy sauce combine with perfectly crispy eggplant for heaven in a plastic dish (or cast iron skillet if you go in person). Finally made it to Nosh! Can't believe it's taken this long, but decided to treat ourselves to a wedding anniversary dinner there, earlier in September 2022. Nicole was our server, and she did an exceptional job of guiding us through the menu and giving great tips on what to order and how many items to try. We HAD to get the Noshos (of course we did!) And also tried the Cold Noodle Salad and the Corn Fritters. All were DELICIOUS! We each had a glass of crisp white wine (again, superbly chosen by Nicole!) And the creme brulee for dessert. We came on a Tuesday night.... Maybe that was the problem? It looked like an incredible bar but I wasn't drunk... maybe that was the problem? Everything sounded really creative and we were excited to try it. The pork belly was ice cold, like it was cooked yesterday or something. All of the condiments on the Korean BBQ platter were the cheap prepackaged stuff that comes from the grocery store. None of it was homemade. The spare ribs were burnt AND cold. Went to Nosh after my son's graduation for dinner, party of three. I have a garlic allergy. I informed the waiter of the garlic allergy and was informed that the Butternut Squash Flatbread Pizza was garlic free as well as the Brussel Sprouts appetizer. Almost 10-15 mins after placing the entire order, I was informed that oops the Butternut Squash dish does have garlic. So we had to scramble, and they offered me dry salmon filet with plain rice and asparagus. Being 15 mins into the order, was wondering how they were going to get that in time for the other two orders. The other 2 orders came out, and mine came maybe less than a minute later and the filet was completely raw in the middle. I like Salmon Tartare, but did not order Salmon Tartare. Granted the waiter took the Salmon off the bill as well as one glass of wine, and in general he was doing everything he could, but got screwed by the kitchen. There appears to be a communication issue with the staff and the kitchen, and they are not well prepared to deal with a garlic allergy. We've eaten at Nosh quite a few times but I really wanted to write about their fantastic bar staff. We decided to eat at the bar because we didn't have reservations and just wanted an appetizer. The bar is full service for dinner so that was perfect. The bar staff? Amazing. No one waited long even though they were making complex cocktails and ordering food. The crowd was friendly and fun. Prior to coming here I was told that the menu was limited and I wish that I had looked at it ahead of time. Going in I anticipated an American fare but was surprised by the Asian fusion on the menu. I ordered the butternut squash soup as an appetizer and the Korean Chicken Sandwich. Now I'm such a butternut squash fan that if it's not on point I'm not pleased. I am really not sure what took me so long to stop in. First off we appreciate the simple lot parking and clear signage to location of parking. We made reservations for dinner on a Thursday night. Approx 630p there were some tables still available but it did start to fill up so reservations are recommended. Hostess was very friendly. We walked in to this beautiful open, trendy but welcoming atmosphere and were immediately seated. We sat inside but they did have some tables outside at the front of the restaurant. We were quickly greeted by very friendly wait staff and my husband's mojito was perfect! Their drink menu includes some inventive and craveable options and I really would like to try the Sangria some time. We had the Daily Breads sharable app which is essentially 3 separate apps - Scallion pancakes, Roasted Garlic/Rosemary flat bread and Melted Cheese in a skillet (still bubbling) with Fresh Tortilla combo. This was a huge app and all was amazing. I especially loved the scallion pancakes! You will have left overs - unless you have a larger group, this is the perfect app to share. We were celebrating my Hubs birthday so we splurged and got the Tomahawk! This is a ton of perfectly cooked, seasoned beef. We will be eating leftovers for the rest of the week! The Portabella butter on the side was perfect with the steak. The grilled asparagus was also wonderful that came on the side. My big surprise was the excellent fresh cut seasoned fries - Amazing!! I will be craving these fries! Perfectly crisp on outside, soft on inside and seasoned well - just how you want your fries. The grilled ciabatta bread that was meant for dipping in bone marrow (which I don't care for in general) was wonderful all by itself as it had been slathered on butter prior to grilling. Yum!! We were already stuffed but needed to try dessert. We had a hard choice but ended up picking the Pecan hand pies - with rich, nutty filling covered in caramel. They came as a set of 2, so it made for simple sharing. They use Amazing Grains of Fairport's crust and it's buttery and rich. Next time we want to try the Salted Bread Pudding! Throughout dinner, wait staff was friendly, efficient and helpful and we overall had a great experience. The service was average, I think because they're so busy. Not bad but not exceptional. Everything I ate was absolutely delicious. The calamari, the steamed dumplings, the cioppino was by far my favorite. I ordered the risotto which was also delicious, but the cioppino was amazing!! The cheesecake was also good. Last year we enjoyed an amazing dinner but this time we were disappointed. We ordered drinks and the Korean BBQ to start. First we ordered wine and a Japanese whiskey, then 2 cocktails called fuzzy feelings, it's Bacardi, Germain, peach, lemon, lime, agave, orange bitters. We couldn't taste the peach or orange, all we could taste was Bacardi, lemon, lime and club soda. I would of rather Bacardi and spirit, that would have had more flavor. The Korean BBQ was really good. Too much to list but the rice was hard, the pork belly had no flavor, the short rib had bones in every piece which we had to dig through it to remove the bones before put it in a sticky bun or lettuce wrap. The chicken was way too spicy. I love spicy but this was really really spicy. They should probably let people know when they are ordering it. I order the lobster Ravioli and my boyfriend ordered the Cola Burger again because it was so good last time. Our waiter forgot our entrees. Which was ok, things like this happen. He was very apologetic but not sure if our food was sitting in the back or they rushed the cooking process because it was closing time but my food came lukewarm. The flavor of the sauce was good and the ravioli was cooked well. My food tasted like lobster was in it but I didn't see any lobster in it.I was expecting pieces of lobster not lobster flavoring.. The odd part of this dish is it had cilantro. I went in with an open mind, but in my opinion cilantro doesn't go with a lobster cheese sauce. Loved the Noshos (fresh tuna tacos)! The pizzas were mediocre- definitely nothing special about them. The calamari was very nicely cooked with a crispy outside so we enjoyed those! Overall the place can get super packed. Definitely make a reservation in advance. It can also get very loud- there was a table of women basically screaming so it was hard to hear my friends. Hands down my favorite restaurant in Rochester! I've never had a bad meal here and the staff here is great. One of my favorite appetizers to share is the ahi noshos. It is literally a mountain of tuna, wonton chips, cucumber, rice, seaweed with a spicy mayo and unagi glaze. The flavors and textures all mixed together is phenomenal. I ordered the gnocchi dish during my most recent visit. The braised beef short rib and wild mushroom gnocchi are the perfect combination along with the cotija. Always make sure you have room for dessert. The chocolate tower torte is heavenly. The slice is ginormous and enough to share with several others. Nosh changes their menu every so often so there's always a reason to come back. I'm glad they always keep fan favorites such as the ahi noshos and the chocolate tower torte. Some dishes will have names of non profits by them. Nosh gives a portion of the profits of that dish to the organization. I'm eating and giving back at the same time, sweet!
