I heard good things about Wild Elephant so we came for lunch on Mother's Day. We easily made reservations a couple of hours before we came in and we were seated immediately when we got there. The place is nicely decorated and has an authentic, elegant vibe. We all decided on getting some apps and lunches. The portions were great and included a choice of a side; veggie choices - fried or fresh spring roll and Tom Yum soup. I thought the calamari was crispy and light. The Pad See Ew and Pad Kee Mao were good. I was very disappointed in the Pad Thai. My mom ate a couple of bites and disliked it. It was very heavily seasoned and left a paste that was reddish brown on the noodles. We didn't want to take the leftovers and the dish was comped. I like that the owner came over and asked about the dish so they can fix it going forward. The owner said her brother (main chef) was out and another chef was working. I wasn't blown away as I was expecting, however, I think they will do well. The owner was gracious and understanding and they offer larger portions than other places that I have been to. read more

The Good: There's parking unless area is busy. The restaurant looks clean and plenty if seating for weekday meal with friends. The Bad: Online pictures are nothing like the actual look of the presented dish. Our party of 4 was split in the opinion of this place. The prices on line and in person are at least $2.00 higher on a few items. Some drinks are made with a "twist"but should probably be renamed and not labeled after "Mojito and Sex on the beach". Really terrible taste. We enjoyed the Soju and appetizers unanimously. The worst part to our evening celebration came when 9pm came and we had to leave. The birthday girl left behind present & birthday card. I quickly called the restaurant which was closed by then. I was told they were cleaning and took name & # to call back as they were in the process of cleaning and was going to check with server and clearing person. Well, 4 phone calls later and 1 unresponsive email to the restaurant I was told nothing was left and nothing was found. I can certainly say that isn't so. We all remember the item left behind and was very descriptive. I love supporting small businesses so this is dissapoiting and unacceptable. At least return calls and messages. We won't be returning here and not recommending. Wild Elephant was chosen to come celebrate and we're left with this experience. read more

We had a great experience at The Wild Elephant. We tried the rare steak pho, and my husband ordered the pho that comes with every type of meat. We're originally from Southern California and eat pho all the time, so we have a pretty good idea of what we like and what to expect. The flavor here was a bit different than what we're used to, but in a really good way--it was still rich, comforting, and very well made. We also ordered the fried ice cream, which was absolutely amazing and the perfect way to end the meal. On top of the great food, the service was excellent--friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout our visit. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and we'll definitely be back to try more dishes. read more

My BF and I stopped in for a couple of appetizers and desert. They have the best calamari in Rochester. Nice and delicate, with tentacles, not rubbery or chewy. No rings. Nice selection of side dips. Fresh spring rolls, the peanut sauce was amazing! The shrimp fresh, would have rather had Thai Basil in there instead of cilantro. Personal preference, and I should have asked. It was very fresh. Chicken Potsticker's, were cooked perfectly, dipping sauce was awesome. I probably wouldn't order again, only because they were not as big a hit as some of their other dishes. Ordered Tiramisu, amazing flavor, but be careful, lots of caffeine, I might be sensitive, but I would not recommend ordering after 4pm, if you want to sleep. lol Ambiance is classy and friendly. We ordered the chicken Thai curry puff appetizer, chuchee fried fish and tofu pad see eew mains, and Thai fried ice cream for dessert. I wasn't a huge fan of the curry puffs but that is personal preference; this appetizer, which was a valentines day specials, came with two heart shaped puff pastry filled with potatoes, veggies, and chicken. They tasted like they were primarily seasoned with curry powder. Both main dishes were exceptionally tasty. The chuchee fried fish (valentine's day special) was crispy, and the curry was rich in flavor with a nice kick to it. The pad see eew was a very large dish, after we'd eaten our fill it hardly looked like we'd touched the plate. It made a good lunch the next day. If you're a fan of spice, the chili oil it came with was great (flavorful and hot). The thai fried ice cream was perfect for two. Ordering more than one would have been too much (for me). Next time we visit I'd like to order the crispy pork belly, and the mango sticky rice. read more

We saw this place while playing Mini-golf and decided to give it a try. It did not disappoint! Everything was fantastic. We started with spring rolls which were nicely filled and came with great dipping sauce. We then shared both Thai Fried Rice and Pas See Eew. The noodles were so tender and in a wonderful sauce. The Thai Fried Rice was a standout and was fragrant and crave-able. Service was very attentive and friendly. Their patio is also lovely. We plan to return. Family members suggested this newer place for dinner since up it was not too far from their neighborhood. We had a reservation but it didn't seem like they were aware of it... though it didn't matter because it was not too busy on this weeknight. Service was friendly and prompt. There were many good choices on the menu though they don't have a liquor license yet. I spotted one of my favorites Thai Sesame Beef. It was a large portion for a reasonable price though in the past at other restaurants this dish came with broccoli. The others enjoyed their meals (Pad Thai, fresh spring rolls, etc.) and the large portions resulted in plenty of leftovers. Solid! Though they should skip shipping on their tvs the weird Thai food travel shows. Even without the volume on it was not appealing! read more

This place is amazing. We met Pang, the owner, and she is extremely nice. Her hospitality is exceptional. The food was delicious and service was outstanding. I highly recommend the Crying Tiger or the Pork belly. I would caution you that a level 2 heat is very very hot. If you don't like spicy ask for level 0. read more

The first time was mixed (curry puffs amazing, crab Rangoon solid, fried rice good flavor, but light on meat, massaman curry with tofu disappointing - broth was okay and it was mainly potatoes). Thought we'd give it a second time. Second order was a little more disappointing than the first. Puffs and Rangoon still good, ordered extra meat for fried rice, sesame beef seemed good. We ordered a flank steak, which was under cooked and lacking flavor, and tofu pad Thai - I thought I was safe with pad Thai, but it was not good. Had a weird sauce and I don't know what they did to the tofu. There are much better Thai options in Rochester, so I'm not sure that we'll be back. IM IN LOVE. IM OBSESSED. We came to check out this spot on Saturday and were blown away. We started with a papaya salad Thai style level two and loved the addition of the peanuts it was delicious and still pretty spicy! For drinks I got the papaya salad spritz which was super refreshing with a lil kick and the Vietnamese espresso martini which was 20/10 the condensed milk sugar rim made the drink and it tasted JUST LIKE a viet coffee super bold but still creamy and sweet. For food I got the fried fish with red curry they had on special and again was blown away. The curry was so delicious and flavorful I loved how the coconut milk in it paired with the spices. It's cute inside and the service was great but the food was just ok. We had the chicken curry puffs, which were really good. Not as good as other places I've had, but pretty decent. The Pad Thai was enjoyable but the Massaman Chicken was kind of disappointing. It was mostly sauce there were not a few peanuts and like 2 small pieces of potato. It says it is a spicy dish, I didn't ask for any more, but it was not spicy at all. I probably wouldn't order this dish again. The fried rice had an incredibly delicious curry and coconut flavor. We got it without pineapple. Everything else was delicious. The decoration is absolutely beautiful and classy. I ordered from Wild Elephant last night after hearing great things, and being in the mood for some Thai. The food was great! The fresh spring rolls were tasty, and had the perfect ratio of vegetables, vermicelli and shrimp. The Tom Yum Vegetable soup was perfectly seasoned, a nice balance of sweet and sour, with plenty of fresh vegetables. The only issue I had with the soup was that I ordered one with chicken, and one with vegetables. Neither container was full, the chicken one was about 3/4 full, while the veggie one was barely 2/3rds full. The papaya salad was spicy, as it should be, but not inedibly so, as I've had on occasion. It was just right! Finally, we had the chicken satay. The meat was wonderfully seasoned, tender, and had a great peanut sauce. I'll definitely be going for a visit soon to try more of their delicious-sounding menu! read more

Pros: * They have vegan options. * The food was decent. * Our server was friendly and attentive. * Bathroom was spacious and (mostly) clean. Cons: * Menu doesn't list vegan options, and our server had to go back to the kitchen and ask the cooks. * Curries have too much liquid in proportion to vegetables & tofu. * Fresh spring rolls had too many noodles and not enough vegetables. * Overhead lights were too bright. * Wall-mounted TVs were turned on and distracting. Our waitress was polite and friendly, and our water glasses were kept filled. My wife and I are both vegan. We were interested in the tom yum soup, but the waitress didn't know if it could be made vegan. She had to go back to the kitchen to ask (turns out it can't be made vegan). It would have been much better if the the restaurant had marked vegan items on the menu, or maybe created a separate vegan menu altogether. We also noticed that the menu didn't say anything about gluten-free options (we have relatives who have celiac disease). My wife had fresh veggie spring rolls and masaman curry with tofu and vegetables. The spring rolls were OK but heavy on the noodles. The masaman curry had a decent flavor but a lot of liquid. I had green papaya salad and panang curry with tofu and vegetables. The salad was good, but I would have loved to have some peanuts included with it. The curry was flavorful and I enjoyed it. But much like my wife's dish, my curry was heavy on the liquid at the expense of tofu and vegetables. The unisex bathroom was spacious and mostly clean. But when I lifted up the toilet seat, I saw that the top of the ceramic bowl was a bit dirty. Also, a paper towel dispenser was mounted on the wall, but the dispenser was empty. In fairness, there was a roll of paper towels on the counter, and there was also a hot air dryer. Several TVs were mounted on the wall, including one right near our table. I find those TVs needlessly distracting--it's not a sports bar, after all. The overhead lights were a bit too bright for my taste. Overall, we had an enjoyable evening. read more

I was a bit surprised that is was more like a soup, but it was very tasty as well. My companion had Pad Thai and she said it was very very good. Food: Our group tried a variety of dishes, Gang Phet, Kao Poon Gai, Mango Sticky Rice, and a few others. The Gang Phet is a standout dish, offering a perfect harmony of spices that a curry needs. This is the first time I have tried Mango Sticky Rice and I have to say that I am a bit disappointed that I have never tried it before as it was phenomenal! I went here lat week for the first time and it fantastic. The food was amazing. The portions were large and it was so flavorful. I had my left overs for dinner next day and they held up so good. I got the Masaman Curry with chicken and my boyfriend got the Pad Thai with chicken. We shared some sake as well which hit the spot.
