Had a great lunchtime dining experience here with my grandma. The place wasn't busy at all and we got our dishes in record time after putting in our orders. My grandma got the Seafood in Love dish which is mixed seafood, vegetables, and rice on the side (nothing too spicy) which she really enjoyed. I got the Drunken Noodles which were flavored nicely. The service was attentive and cordial. They have off-street parking in the back, an entrance on the side that you can access without having to use any stairs, and nice authentic-feeling decor inside. Overall this is one of my favorite Thai places in Rochester along with Wild Elephant in Irondequoit. Would recommend highly! read more

Greeted with a friendly hello and seated promptly. Nice ambiance with different rooms. The menu was great easy to read descriptions and variety. Ordered medium spicy and it was hot! Perfect heat to add to a dish. Choices of protein and sauces on dishes. Our guy was super funny and had a great laugh and showed us what his secret spice is. Nice wine menu and beers available. Pleasantly surprised by my recent takeout experience from The Elephant. Not as good as Sak's Thai and Seasoning, which are my two favorite Thai spots in Rochester, but has delivery to the Eastside of Rochester. We ordered a green curry, pad thai, tom yum soup and the puff pastries. Everything was decent. Taste-wise everything leaned towards the sweeter side, which I don't mind occasionally. Portions were good and pricing was reasonable. Overall, I would order take-out from here again if I am too lazy / busy/ tired to go out to pick up myself from a restaurant. read more

This brand new restaurant is one to tell your family about during the holidays. The inside of the restaurant makes me think at one point this building was someone's home, but I'm glad it's a Thai restaurant now. First of all, the food is delicious!!! I work near The Elephant in Victor and get takeout with my colleagues. The orders are filled at top speed, and all the people who work there are gracious and welcoming. My current favorite is the Massaman curry with pumpkin. Just enough spice! We love Thai food and heard about this little gem. Went tonight. We knew it was small so decided to go early. We were greeted warmly and quickly. It is decorated just darling - very welcoming. They serve beer and wine - but you can also bring your own wine for a $10 corkage charge. Service was friendly and efficient. We almost ordered too much but our wonderful server told us it was too much and he was right! Grateful as these are great servings. We started with the spring rolls - expecting two but got four. They were delicious. My husband got cashew chicken and I got the duck - both come with delicious jasmine rice. We both LOVED our meal and cleaned our plates. Then we had the Thai donuts. We had takeout from The Elephant on a Friday evening. The entire meal was unfortunately a big disappointment. Prices are excessive for the quantity of food that you get compared to just about any other Thai or other Asian cuisine restaurants in the area. $9 for "Thai Dumplings", where you get four very small wontons full of dry, flavorless chicken is a definite miss. The sweet soy dipping sauce was pretty good, but nothing could have saved the general blandness or clumpy texture of the dumplings themselves. I could have used one of them as a golf ball - it was certainly firm enough although probably a little smaller. I'll give the benefit of the doubt that maybe the dumplings would have better texture fresh, but I've had plenty of takeout dumplings that at least still had decent texture. Drunken Noodles with shrimp for $20 isn't crazy, but it's about 3/4 the size and a few dollars more expensive than the same dish at Seasoning or Khong Thai. The noodles had a good texture, no complaints there. Unfortunately, the dish only had 5 small pieces of shrimp to go with a modest amount of vegetables. The biggest killer for this dish is that typically Drunken Noodles (or pad kee mao) typically has at least some element of spice, often medium to high heat. This dish had absolutely no spice whatsoever (even for my low spice tolerance), and tasted more like it was tossed in a sweet soy sauce. At first I thought they may have accidentally used the sauce from a Pad See Ew instead, but even if that was the case, it wouldn't have been a very good Pad See Ew sauce either. Just overly sweet. Finally, the Thai Basil (kra prow) stir fry with beef for $19, with white rice. The portion of beef was respectable, definitely the best quantity of anything across the entire order, though still small relative to other restaurants. Unfortunately, the beef was also dry, grainy and mostly flavorless. The sauce in this dish was watery and didn't coat any of the meat or vegetables, so it ended up being more like dry meat and vegetables with a broth dumped over it. Again, no spice in this dish - often Thai Basil stir fries have at least some chili kick to it. I don't mind the lack of heat but I do mind the lack of flavor. Even taking spoonfuls of the sauce-water, it mostly just tasted like sweet soy - not a significant amount of basil flavor. The positive is that the order was on time, and the interior of the restaurant seemed clean. It's possible that this was just a bad order, which happens. But with the high prices and small portion sizes on top of mediocre to poor quality, it'll be a tough sell to give this another try. read more

Many Asian dinners are covered with a goopy sauce that is over salted, over sweet, and feels like it came out of a 5-gallon industrial food bucket. This was not the case at The Elephant. The sauces on our dishes were light and subtle and allowed the flavors of the meat and vegetables to shine through. The server was attentive and personable. Same thing I said on Google. One of their employees made a mistake on my order, I didn't realized until I got home. I called them back for a refund because at this point I can't eat the food. She said I had to drive back and give the food back to her 50 percent refund. BULL. I didn't want to. She said the server who took out Carey out order will have to pay 50% of the meal... who says that? I felt terrible so I drive back. GUESS WHAT! As soon as I walk in the door, "oh we gave you a 100% refund, you didn't need to come back" WHATTTTT!!!! After I just drove all the way back with the untouched food. Service is crap. I really like the Elephant - Victor, and I'm hoping to change this to 5 stars when they get a few of the kinks worked out! The positives: I'm so excited to have a Thai place in Victor and I'm so glad they do takeout, delivery, and in person! And most of the food is insanely good! The curries, the dumplings, the soups (best thing there probably), all of the proteins (duck and tofu are amazing). The pad Thai is also good, and probably the best I've found in Rochester, although a little oily. The pad see ew is also very good, although a little too sweet for me. The prices are a little higher than I was expecting, but I didn't mind since the food was so good. The main negative thing is that they were out of about half of the items when we went and I totally get that they are working out the kinks as a new business, but it was a little frustrating. I do think they can work out these kinks and since the food is so so good, we will definitely be back! read more

Came here for a quiet dinner. I love Thai food and this did not disappoint. This place just opened 4 months ago and they don't have great signage out front so it's easy to miss. This was our 1st time there, and we had a wonderful experience. The ambiance was relaxing, soft music and the dining area had a calm Asian flare, as you might expect. We ordered the Calamari as the appetizer that was lightly battered, the calamari was tender and not excessively chewy with a light sweet drizzle. The soup of the day was light and flavorful and the main course, mine, the Thai fried rice with shrimp was a blend of mild spices, sooo good, the shrimp was cooked perfectly. It was ready right on time, hot and there were generous portions, enough for leftovers the next day.
