I come here probably on average once per month. Our favorite is the basil fried rice with shrimp. It is delicious. I will say that this is not the cheapest place to eat. Our average for takeout is probably around $120 and up. Also the menu is good, but limited. read more

Decent place for Asia food. I got here around 6pm on Monday to order for take out. The restaurant was almost half full and 3 staffs running around taking orders and delivery food. The inside of the restaurant may need more light since it feels dark. I got special Pho. It took about 10 minutes for my food to be ready. I enjoy all the beef. They were soft. Definitely a good choice for pho! It wasn't my favorite pho I've ever had, but it was pretty comparable to homemade pho I've had in the past. The restaurant itself is a bit small and it was a bit busy when we went, but we still got seated for a table for three relatively quickly. Prices go up everytime I go there. The appetizer squid is now 11 dollars!!!!! And the portion is still the same if not less. The beef special pho used to be 13 now 15, again same portion. The rice and meat dishes are horrible! They don't even use chicken breast, it's chicken thigh with alot of fat and stringy tissue! And they give you maybe 10 little pieces of chicken thigh! The larb at Sea Me Go restaurant next door is extorting people. You have to have rice with larb and they make you pay for the rice! So you're basically paying 19 dollars for a small portion of larb with rice! The prices on everything has gone up at SEA restaurant, yet the market prices of meat has gone down! So why are they charging so much? There are way too many other Asian restaurants for them to do this to their customers! There are so many Asian restaurants that has opened in Rochester! read more

Looking for good pho & the Monroe ave location is my go to but they are not open Monday. Staff is very sterile & not very welcoming. Just kind of monotone. The floor could use some cleaning & the booths a little updating. Ordered the fresh spring rolls which were very bland & barely had any meat in them. They told us they were out of boba for bubble tea so my daughter was a bit upset. She still wanted a strawberry smoothie but when I tried some it was overly sweet & didn't taste like strawberry but more like cotton candy. Then about 20 mins later someone else at a table next to us ordered boba but was able to get some. She noticed & said how come they got it but I didn't. Just poor customer service to say you're out of it & then have the next customer who orders receive it. Pho was hot but nothing to brag about. Ok flavor but even with the sauce given for spice it was still mild. Unfortunately I don't think we will be coming back here. Not worth it. read more

Love SEA- so so much! now that we live closer to the Mt Hope location- we go there a little too often the staple for us is their thin slice eyeround steak pho- or the vermicelli. Lately, we've been branching out- green curry, yellow curry, pad Thai, yellow noodles, and most recently ... crispy noodles (aka birds nest). I don't have anything negative to say about any dish. First time visiting Rochester and was craving Viet food and came across SEA since it had such strong reviews. I tried out the Phơ Tái (Medium Rare Beef Pho) and the Bún Thịt Nướng (Vermicelli Noodles with Pork). Phơ Tái, Medium Rare Beef Pho: The broth was decent and had nice flavours. It was actually a decent sized bowl considering for only one size. Usually I don't get entirely full from pho but this place certainly had large portions. Bún Thịt Nướng, Vermicelli Bowl with Pork: It was alright, nothing too extraordinary. The fish sauce (nước mắm) was too salty and didn't really have the usual authentic flavour as I expected. However, portions were good. Overall considering Rochester didn't have a wide range of Vietnamese restaurants, it certainly satisfies the craving though I would only recommend the phơ. We got pho dac biet and their udon noodle soup. Both were tasty and we will likely come back to try other things. We also go their banh mi house special. Everything was decent except for their bread. I fortunately, it was very chewy. I have been spoiled by the most amazing banh mi from Dong Phuong in New Orleans...but I feel like this was not even okay. One of the best phos I've had in a long time! The service was quick and efficient; the waitress literally came right after I sat down to take my order. Got the spring rolls and wings for the appetizer. Both delicious. The wings tasted extra crispy and not too dry. For the main course, I got the usual pho dac biet which came in a huge bowl! They loaded it with generous portions of brisket, steak, tripe, and meatballs. I definitely ended up with leftovers. I really liked the overlap in staffing at the tables. One minute this waitress would come over and another minute a different person would check in to see how everything was going. Again, efficient service. My friend highly recommended this place and it did not disappoint! When you walk in you'll have to go to the back of the restaurant to meet with a host/server to get a table. We started off with the fried calamari and spring rolls. Calamari was very good, but it needed a dipping sauce on the side and was a smaller portion than I expected. The spring rolls were also good but we're packed with more rice noodle than anything else. I came here specifically for the Pho though and that's what I enjoyed most. I got the chicken and steamed veggies (which is an additional cost) and it came out in a massive bowl. I'm also pregnant so I asked for the bean sprouts on the side to be cooked, which they did for me! Service was quick all night and all and all we really enjoyed ourselves. This was my first time here and it's most definitely a hidden gem. Our wait for a table at lunchtime was brief and we had spring rolls as our appetizers. We ordered red wine, a Pho Bowl and 2 Pad Thai Dishes. Everything was outstanding and there was never an empty table to be found. The only unfortunate incident was that their credit card machine was down, but they were quick to offer to take our card information and charge it when things were back up and running. We were recommended by friends who studied in Rochester Institute Technology few years ago that SEA Restaurant serves the top 1 pho in their opinion. We visited with high expectation but left with little disappointment. Dining-in is currently allowed with social distancing and the staff was really friendly. The decor is bright and clean with limited seats. The food was overall decent but was overrated and definitely not the top 1 pho for us. We tried their beef special pho with brisket, rough flank, rare steak, tripe and meatball, shrimp salad and fried squid with reasonable price $30 (+tax & tip) and great portion. The broth was flavorful and light but some of the beef was overcooked. The fried squid was the best, tender and juicy, but a bit too spicy for me. Overall, SEA Restaurant is a good place for pho if you live in Rochester, but we wouldn't recommend to visit during your trip. read more

SEA Restaurant on Mt. Hope has always one of my favourite lunch spots. I always tend to get the same items every single time. Starting off with some fried squid. Crispy on the outside, soft and tender on the inside. Tossed with some fish sauce and jalapenos for a little kick. One of the best places for fried squid in my opinion. I also rather enjoy their papaya salad. Also tossed in fish sauce, which is a little sweet, a little salty with a pungent fish smell and taste. This comes plain which I think goes great with shrimp. This small restaurant is known for their pho. Having tried pho from all over here in Rochester, NY, this is the closest to having it at home from Mom. A solid and consistent place to get a bowl of pho. Not my favorite pho in town, but it always satisfies my craving. The portions are large, including the soup, noodles and meat. The broth is pretty meaty and lacks a bit of the nuance (star anise, pepper, onion) that I find in my favorite pho restaurants. With that being said, it's still good. 3.5 stars overall. Solid place still, but it gets very very busy. Came at 8PM on a weeknight and waited about 5-10 minutes before someone noticed us and another 5-10 before someone cleared off a table. We ordered pho, summer rolls, and a soda Chanh (sour Vietnamese drink). The summer rolls were very small and pretty standard. The pho is always good here and I have no complaints. They did forget about our drink until right before we left though. For me, it's all about the Pho and seas delivers both in flavor and portions. The staff is awesome. My family and I live in the area and we've been going there for the last eight years. I had steamed vegetables and a meat for protein along with their hot oil to kick it up a notch. They also make an awesome wonton soup. read more

Overall: Rochester's Asian food scene is not like Philadelphia, Atlanta, NYC that we have often frequented but what they do have, has so far been so good, as this is our new city we are moving to. Pho is EXCELLENT- I'm a Pho fanatic and I'm happy to say that the pho broth is concentrated, well brewed, and didn't skimp on flavors. The noodles are not overly done and meat quality is good. Spring rolls were pretty good and pad thai was good as well. Seems to be popular among the college and Rochester campus which is only 0.3 miles away fro the hospital. Pho: The soup is well brewed- I'm usually a stickler for good broth b/c people who skimp on ingredients/time will come out with a broth that is noticeably mediocre and bland. The noodles were not overcooked but again, if you're not someone who eats pho often, don't let the noodles stay in the soup too long b/c it will get soggy no matter how good the noodles are. The meats are what are described- if a brisket is named, it is ribbony with a small amount of fat and tender. If it says flank steak, it is tougher and less fatty. EVERY meat was its own distinct name- I've been to places where they say flank, brisket, eye steak, etc but they were all the SAME thing whatever it was (maybe not even any of the 3....) Pad thai: tofu pad thai- tofu is Viet tofu which is a drier bean curd with a brown outside crispy shell. Th pad thai noodles are the same noodles as the pho soup but the sauce seems to be made from scratch rather some generic sauce bought and dumped over. spring rolls- I usually prefer spring rolls without iceburg lettuce but that's just dependent on places. The ice burg lettuce remind me of taco iceburg lettuce topping, but the shrimp and pork in side are otherwise perfect. The rice wrapping is not falling apart and not too sticky. There is adequate crunch and it is refreshing. read more

SEA is pho goals in Rochester! I love that Rochester pho restaurants tend to add a hint of nutmeg to their broth. It smells so good and really enhances the flavor! My mom and I stopped for dinner on a Friday night and it was quiet other than four or five other small tables. We were waited on right away and our food came out quickly. Overall I had a pretty good time at SEA Restaurant. The service was very good and the place was very clean. The food itself was also very good in taste, the meats were spiced and cooked very nicely!! The portion sizes were way larger than I expected considering the price is on the lower side. The one thing that is a down side is the ratio of items in some of the dishes, for example in the house vermicelli had a base that was very heavily bean sprouts which made it a little deceptively large but still very good. The spring roll was ok nothing super special honestly it wasn't my favorite so I'd probably skip it next time. I will definitely come back! read more
