Ma Po To Fu, Vegetable Fried Rice, 6 Pork Soup Dumplings

Finally! A place that has actual authentic Chinese food. Of course if you're into that, they do have the traditional Chinese take out options. The menu is huge, portions are huge and everything is amazing. We ordered so much food not know the size of each dish so we had a lot to take home. 4 people we spent ~$160 TOTAL. We also loved the inside of the restaurant, decorated tastefully and staff were nice.

Sherman Williams should make a new paint color called Rochester Grey. Oppressive weather sometimes makes us hungry and this was the color of the sky yesterday afternoon when My Beloved and I decided we needed to brighten things up a bit with a random late lunch date. Since we'd been watching the films of Jia Zhanke lately, we were in the mood for Chinese so we headed out toward Manting House, which we'd read good things about somewhere online (starts with a Y...) but had never been. From Greece (NY, where we also live), it's easy to locate with plenty of free parking, already a plus. 3-3:30 on a dreary Saturday afternoon and the place was UN-packed with only 2 other sets of diners in the (Manting) House. Upon entering, the energy was calm and relaxed and the interior was gorgeous, with the warm lights down low but not too low, just enough to highlight the pops of color and gleam we so desperately needed. Two large glowing koi lanterns hovered gracefully over the spacious dining area. This was an environment of whimsical upscale ambience and casual elegance where intimacy could be had for a quiet romantic evening or I suspect, later in the evening, a gently raucous dinner gathering of friends. The hostess asked us whether we wanted a table or a booth? We chose a booth. Clean and comfortable. Then we were handed a well-illustrated folder menu as well as an iPad to peruse and place our order directly to the kitchen. The menu is extensive and slightly overwhelming with all the delicious looking and sounding choices but we managed. Here's what we ordered: 1. Braised Pork Belly with Abalone 2. Black Truffle Beef Fried Rice 3. Smoked Duck with Cinnamon & Tea 4. Ants Climbing a Tree (Glass Noodles with Finely Ground Pork) 5. 2 Fried Chive Dumplings 6. Hot Jasmine Tea I will not go on at length about each dish except to say that we loved every generous portion we were graciously served and had plenty of leftovers, which was part of The Plan. But let me offer a few spot standouts: The Braised Pork Belly with Abalone was absolutely delicious: braised cubes of pork belly served in a deep sienna rich and flavorful sauce. As the name implies, the gently braised pork outnumbers the abalone chunks 5 to 1 but that's not a complaint. There are also little green stalks of bok choy lurking about in the sauce. This dish is best eaten with rice, of course, and the subtle flavor of the Black Truffle Beef Fried Rice seemed to be a good match--a gentle tug-of-war between flavors. Lots of texture and nuance in each bite. The Smoked Duck with Cinnamon & Tea tasted like its name suggests it would taste, meaning excellent. Subtly sweet one second then salty and smoky the next. Succulent, tender, a little crispy 'round the edges--perfection! We were surprised that the Fried Chive Dumplings were served without any dipping sauce so I couldn't resist dunking my steaming, torn portion into the velvety Pork Belly sauce--that did the trick. MY Beloved thought the hot, jasmine tea served with our meal was of exceptional quality, fragrance and taste-wise. Next time you're in the mood for Asian Fusion food that's bright, flavorful and spicy enough to burn away any lingering winter blues, head to Manting House. You will NOT be disappointed. And like us, you WILL return to further sample the exquisite and sumptuous offerings of their great & plentiful menu. Special shout out to our server, Lu, whose lovely tableside presence and patter added another layer of warmth and authenticity to our exquisite Manting House dining experience.

Black truffle fried rice- not enough truffle flavor (actually no truffle flavor at all). But still a tasty rice.

Beautiful dining area. Friendly ambiance. Food was amazing and very flavorful. Will definitely go back to check out the other menu items.

I was so excited to check out this place with a friend. This took over the former Trio restaurant in the plaza so I was very curious to see what they have done with the place. Signage is well done and seen from the main road. Parking is ample. Place is beautifully decorated from lighting and decor. Love all the plush seating and aesthetics of the place once you enter. The seating is super comfortable and we were given one of their elegant booths. We did need to wait a bit to be seated as there was no hostess waiting up front but we were quickly seated thereafter and served water right away. Ordering is done through a tablet and you are given a wonderful fancy, plush menu to see all their featured dishes in beautifully colored photos. Food is more Szechuan style so watch out that there will be more spicy options on the menu even if some of the dishes aren't designated as spicy. I had taken a look at the menu before hand so we ordered the crab and pork filled steamed dumplings, beef skewers, beef chow fun, and shepherd's purse wonton soup. Food came out surprisingly quite quickly. Large portions of tender beef in the noodles which we were surprised by. Though kind of wish there were more noodles in it, but all and all very tasty! Everything had great flavor. The wonton soup did have a bit too much ginger in it but still was very good. Beware of the spice on the beef skewers, it has cumin and other spices which gave it quite a kick! Will definitely be back to try out some of their other speciality dishes!

We came here for lunch on a snowy weekday and it surely did not disappoint. I ordered the braised pork lunch special which comes with salad, soup (hot & sour), rice, shrimp chips and hot tea. We also ordered string beans to share which was a generous amount. It's such a good deal for the amount of food you get for the lunch bento box deal and we couldn't finish it all so we had leftovers that we were able to take home. The string beans were so delicious and lots of garlic. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. You can either order from the tablet and it'll send everything automatically to the kitchen or if you prefer the traditional way, you can order from a physical menu. The interior is extremely clean, modern and aesthetic. We were also given coupons at the end of our meal. Will definitely be coming back to try other menu items!

what a wonderful surprise it's right near the Brighton Henrietta/Winton intersection that I used to call Todd Mart. The same plaza that still has Fox's delicatessen. Manting House is a separate building by itself. i've eaten in that building many times with many owners, but this actually may be the best yet, especially if you are a person that likes Asian food Nothing is perfect, I get the impression that many of those that work there do not speak English, or at least not easily. They do for that reason, at least this is the reason I believe you make an order yourself with an Internet tablet. I cannot tell you this time what I ate because one of my closest friend grew up in landline, China, and then later in Hong Kong. For that reason, I always ask my friend to choose everything for the table. I've never been disappointed. what I can tell you though is the food was outstanding. And I will also tell you that this is probably the most beautiful Asian restaurant I've been to in Monroe County. not only will we come back, we can't wait until we come back

Manting House is where Trio used to be, and the new interior is stunning. You're seated on retro green couches with plush gold pillows, which set a cozy yet elegant vibe. The ordering is modern and fun -- they hand you an iPad so you can select dim sum, cold apps, soups, entrées, and desserts at your own pace. I spotted truffle fried rice and lobster on the menu (definitely saving those for next time!), but since I wasn't too hungry, I just enjoyed the atmosphere this round. The staff were genuinely warm, attentive, and friendly -- which made the whole experience even better. I'll absolutely be going back to try more.

Nice place with good decorations. Spaces really spacey inside. . Food come out with good presentation on a nice fancy plates . However the food taste is around average compared to other authentic Chinese restaurants. One thing I do not like is the kitchen have no doors. You can hear everything from the staffs and cook chatting inside . Sometimes it really loud . If they want this restaurant to be one of those upscale food cuisine place. , they need to be more awareness to their talking.

Very cool vibe to this place. There are tables, booths and family style tables - seating 10. The Shepard's Purse soup was absolutely fantastic. I will definitely be back!

I was hoping to place an on line take-out order, but decided not to because the menu didn't provide enough detail about the menu items

Ordered delivery and I'm honestly still thinking about this meal…read more First of all, it arrived so fast and everything was packaged perfectly. Nothing spilled, everything still looked fresh, which already put me in a good mood. Now the food... I cannot believe how good the lobster roll is. If you haven't had it, you haven't lived. It's that kind of good. Like pause mid-bite, close your eyes, what is happening right now kind of delicious. The miso soup was a whole experience by itself. Warm, comforting, and it just felt nourishing. Not just something on the side, but something you actually appreciate with every sip. And the Brussels sprouts... I added just a little soy sauce and wow. Completely took them to another level. So simple but so good. This is one of those places where everything hits. Fast delivery, great packaging, and food that actually lives up to the hype. I'm already bookmarking this spot.

You are seated at a tablet in front of a conveyor belt with the sushi making it's way around the restaurant. You can take whatever catches your eye as it passes in front of you, or you can order from the tablet. If you order from the tablet, little cars bring the food on a second, higher conveyor belt above the first one, or sometimes a robot brings it to your seat. So there are 2 moving belts, robots, and servers. It's a lot! Fun, but be aware. It is cool that you can see things moving past and try different things. The plates on the belt are also less than a full order, which means you can try more things, if that's your style. Service is pretty quick since you're helping yourself from the belt. They do a good job making sure there is a variety of items on the belt and seemed to restock pretty quickly. You can mostly chose from rolls and nigiri. I do like American style rolls, and enjoyed the options. The guy prefers nigiri. We ordered some tempura and picked some nigiri from the menu as well. I really enjoyed the veggie tempura. They have good salmon - we tried the peppered salmon, which he thought was too much, but was smokey and peppery, and I enjoyed. There was also a spicy yellowtail, and plain salmon that was also nice quality. We shared an ice cream sundae with one of the little fish shaped cakes for dessert, which was really good. I liked the little cake with the red bean paste inside. It was fun and pretty low key.

I wasn't sure if it was reheated or due to the lack of experienced diners, who thought the redness near the bone on a pouched chicken was "raw". Not only was the chicken not served with ginger and scallion sauce, it was drizzled with soy sauce. I didn't taste the chicken flavor in the chicken rice either. Usually it's paired with the Hainese chicken. The mango chicken was too sweet, according to my husband and son. The roti canai was decent, but it had beef or pork in it. Previously, I've only had chicken in the sauce. With only 2 other seatings taken, we were sat next to a mom group of chatty 4 women. They were loud enough for our table not to bother speaking. When I go out with my girlfriends, we usually ask for a table in to corner or back, as to not bother other customers. We don't live in the area and only stopped by for a college open house.
