Wow! Just wow. We decided to try Capitano's for the first time last night, and I can confidently say it's one of the best dining experiences we've had in a long time. From the moment we walked in, we were treated like regulars. The service was absolutely top-notch--attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable without ever being intrusive. We started our evening with some cocktails, which were creative and perfectly mixed. A great sign of things to come! For an appetizer, we went with the calamari, and it was cooked to perfection--lightly crispy and not at all chewy, with a delicious dipping sauce. Next up were the wedge salads. It's a classic, but they do it right here. The lettuce was crisp, the dressing was flavorful, and the toppings were generous. For our main courses, our table got a variety of dishes, and every single one was a home run. Spicy Rigatoni: Had a fantastic kick to it! The pasta was perfectly al dente, and the sauce was rich and clung to every piece. Hot Honey & Pepperoni Pizza: The perfect balance of sweet and spicy. The crust was amazing--chewy with a great char. A must-try for pizza lovers. 7-Layer Lasagna: This was a masterpiece. You could taste the care that went into every single layer. It was rich, cheesy, and incredibly satisfying. Philly Steak Soup: I was intrigued by this and it did not disappoint! It had all the flavors of a classic Philly cheesesteak in a hearty, delicious soup. So unique and so good. Every single bite of food was delicious. The quality of the ingredients and the skill in the kitchen are obvious. We are already planning our next visit. Capitano's has earned some new loyal fans. We will definitely be back!

A Perfect Birthday Find with Charm, View, and Incredible Food!! For my wife's birthday last night, I wanted to find a spot that hit all the notes for us foodies. Let me tell you, this place was an absolute home run. The location is perfect, right on the water. We had a cozy little table with a gorgeous view. The whole place just screams classy, but in a way that's inviting, not intimidating. It's the kind of place where you can feel fancy but still totally relax. And the food? Oh, the food. Our meals were exceptional. The menu had just the right amount of choices, and everything we tasted was a 10/10. The vibe was perfect--buzzy and chatty but not so loud we couldn't hear each other. The centered, spacious bar really adds to the atmosphere. It was a birthday dinner she won't forget, and we've already decided we're going back. If you're looking for a spot with charm, a view, and truly great food, this is it!

I wanted to give it FOUR STARS. The service was perfect. The food was perfect and when I say perfect, it was the best red clam sauce I've ever had. The waitress was just as good as you would ever hope. The problem was a few things. First of all, it was extremely loud, so loud almost every conversation I had to ask what the person next to me said I asked the other three people at my table and they all agreed. Second problem it was very cold. They had extra heaters, but I had a feeling it was probably about 65°. It was even colder the one time I went to the bathroom. And then finally, although not the waitress's fault it took very, very long with the spread between the salad and the entrée. Granted everything's these days are expensive, but for $250 before tip, the problems I mentioned should not have happened I'm looking forward to coming back, but I probably would want to eat outside when the weather is good because of how loud it was. I hope they can work on the problems. I mentioned because it could easily became one of my favorite restaurants.

The wings were excellent perfectly cooked and coated in a house sauce that actually deserves the name. The waitresses were exceptionally kind and attentive, setting an easy, welcoming tone from the start. The place carries great vibes without trying too hard, and the menu is refreshingly diverse, matching an atmosphere that feels open, lively, and well-balanced. A spot that respects good food and good energy

Amazing food! Great drinks! It was very packed but service was great. The inside was dimly lit at the high top, I can only imagine how beautiful it is during the summertime looking across the bay.

A beautiful room with stunning views of Irondequoit Bay. A very large menu with so many choices. Craft cocktails, draft beer, and a nice wine list. Portions are large. The food is nicely prepared and well presented.

We were in the area for 3 days- 2 of those days we chose to eat at Capitano's. The restaurant is very clean and has an amazing water view. Our server Tiffany was the best of the best! She gave us recommendations and knew the menu well. She was the reason we came back the next day. Everything we ate was delicious. The brownie cheesecake dessert was delicious and the lobster bisque has huge pieces of lobster (served on Saturdays) many people comment that the restaurant is loud and it was hard to hold a conversation, we did not find that to be true on a Friday or Saturday night. The portions are huge and worth the price. Plenty of leftovers to enjoy later. We will definitely be back on our next trip and hope to see Tiffany again.

In the evenings, it gets pretty loud, particularly for a hotel restaurant at that price point. The bartenders are always friendly and the vibe down here is fun. It's a nice place to grab a well crafted cocktail. I like the Smoke and Spice, a slightly sweet whiskey based drink. We both enjoyed our breakfast as well. The service in the morning was a little slow, but still attentive. Again, the menu is fairly small, so I had a bagel, eggs, and fruit from the ala carte menu. Nothing overly exciting, but not bad!

We were celebrating our wedding anniversary, and received complimentary champagne and dessert, which was a nice touch! My husband ordered 1 draft beer which was cold and refreshing, and I ordered a Jack and Coke, which was everything it should be! The garlic topped bread and butter was amazing! We skipped appetizers this trip. I ordered the New York strip. It was ordered medium and came out more like a medium well, but it was good. The béarnaise was very flavorful. My husband ordered the half rack of lamb. It was also good. For sides, we tried the truffle fries, squash, and mushrooms. All were fine. Our servers were nice and knowledgable. Our waters were always full and they were attentive. Overall it was nice evening. Everything was just "fine" and "good". Our bill totaled $219.00 after a 20% tip and I found myself wanting more than just "fine" and "good" for that price!

Walked in to be warmly greeted by waitstaff in santa hats. Restaurant and bar is full Christmas spirit with lights, trees and decorations. Very festive! The walls are adorned in caricatures of famous italian americans: actors, athletes, singers, politicians etc. There's also a room dedicated to fake italians, for actors who played iconic italian roles but are not in fact of italian dissent. We were in that room, which was fun for us because 2 our all time favs were in there: the Barones of Everybody Loves Raymond and some Soprano's characters. Normally I am not a fan of chain restaurants for italian food, but this place is special. The food was bellisimo! Absolutely delicious. The shrimp cocktail, were like small lobster tails they were so huge & fresh! The stuffed peppers appetizer itself could be a meal (and for me, it was) The peppers practically melted in your mouth, stuffed with ricotta, sausage, gorgonzola and crusted breadcrumbs with balsamic glaze drizzle. To DIE for! The one pound lasagna is EPIC. Yes it's huge, but it's also cooked and stuffed to perfection. Comes with a pitcher of extra sauce without having to ask! We were too stuffed for dessert. Loved it here. Hope they expand include a Long Island location someday.

They took my number and we stepped outside to take a walk around the block while we waited. We ended up getting a text about the bar seat availability in about 15 minutes. Once we got seated at the bar, things turned around quickly. The space has a really cozy, intimate vibe with dim lighting, warm atmosphere and overall it feels thoughtfully put together. We ordered hot toddies to drink, which were perfect for the weather, and for food we got the Japanese sweet potatoes and the cavolo nero pesto. Both dishes were incredibly delicious - flavorful and well-balanced. Just be prepared for a wait (and maybe stay nearby instead of wandering off), but once you're in, it's a great experience!

It's a small space inside but it's designed well enough to manage a flow of traffic for customers and staff. We sat in the back greenhouse area. I think the least enjoyable part of our experience was how loud it was in the restaurant. Definitely not a good spot if you're trying to catch up with someone and your voice doesn't carry. I couldn't actually hear the specials the server was telling us. I want to try out Vern's again, so I may wait until there's an outdoor table or ask to sit in the second level to see if that's quieter. We tried one of their spring menu appetizer items, the Japanese sweet potatoes with kimchi ranch and dill. One bite and I was addicted, these were so so good. We then moved on to the classics for entrees -- bee sting pizza and the ragu-- and we were amazed at how good everything was! The only note we had was about the pizza, it was very soggy in the middle but still edible if you rolled it over in itself. We also had a few cocktails, and while they were somewhat small, you could tell they weren't watered down in any way. Two drinks was more than enough for me. Overall it was a great experience and we want to try it again. If you're someone who struggles to enjoy a meal out where you can't hear much, maybe wait for outdoor tables.

An unforgettable 50th birthday dinner!…read more My wife treated me to dinner here, and from start to finish, the experience was exceptional. The food was absolutely outstanding. Every dish was cooked to perfection, beautifully presented, and packed with flavor. This is the kind of meal you keep talking about long after you leave. What truly elevated the night, though, was the service. Our waiter Andy was phenomenal. Attentive, knowledgeable, warm, and effortlessly professional. He struck that perfect balance of being present without hovering, and his recommendations were spot on. Junior waiter James was equally impressive, thoughtful, polished, and clearly invested in making sure we had a great experience. They made us feel celebrated without being over-the-top, which is not easy to do. The entire team contributed to an atmosphere that felt upscale, welcoming, and memorable. If you are celebrating something important or simply want an incredible dining experience, Black & Blue delivers on every level. I couldn't have asked for a better way to celebrate such a milestone birthday. Highly recommend.

I consider myself somewhat of a restaurant expert, and until my most recent visit, Black & Blue in…read morePittsford had been one of my favorite restaurants. Unfortunately, this Mother's Day 5/10/26 experience was disappointing enough that I felt compelled to leave a review. We had reservations for 3:30 PM on Mother's Day, and in the special request section of the reservation, I clearly specified that this was a Mother's Day celebration. I also requested a quiet or private booth and mentioned that my daughter is vegetarian. Upon arrival, we were seated upstairs directly next to what appeared to be an employee service area. We could constantly hear employees talking, dishes being washed or thrown around, and overall it was easily the loudest table in the restaurant. What made this more frustrating was that another couple seated next to us complained loudly about their table and caused a scene. Although staff initially explained the restaurant was full, they were eventually moved. Meanwhile, we had politely requested a better table in advance through the reservation system, yet because we were patient and understanding, it felt like we were simply ignored. Service throughout the meal was inconsistent and inattentive. It took quite a while before anyone took our drink order. The wine menu presented to me only included wines by the glass, despite the fact that I later saw servers bringing full bottles of wine and champagne to other tables. I wanted to order a bottle of champagne for the occasion, but by the time our waitress finally arrived, I didn't want to complicate things further. Another detail that stood out was the complete lack of acknowledgment for Mother's Day. I overheard our waitress enthusiastically wishing other tables a "Happy Mother's Day" and asking if they were celebrating anything special, yet she never once acknowledged me or our celebration. My husband ordered a piña colada and was told they could not make one, so he settled for a strawberry martini that was overwhelmingly sweet and unenjoyable. We chose not to complain. The food itself, as always, was excellent and truly the highlight of the evening. However, the service continued to feel rushed and impersonal. I was planning to order my favorite espresso martini after dinner, but instead the bill was simply dropped at the table without anyone asking if we wanted dessert or another drink. One employee who was handling bread and water service also made us feel rushed. While I was literally still chewing my food, she interrupted to ask, "Should I bag that for you?" It made me feel like we were being pushed out. I was also disappointed that despite specifically mentioning my daughter was vegetarian in the reservation notes, our waitress never offered vegetarian suggestions or asked about dietary restrictions. At most upscale restaurants, this level of attentiveness is expected. The most upsetting part of the evening, however, was what felt like dismissive and unprofessional behavior toward us as Latinos. My husband has an accent, and our waitress repeatedly pretended not to understand him. At one point, after commenting on his accent, she laughed and said, "Or maybe I'm deaf." We found this rude, uncomfortable, and inappropriate for a restaurant of this caliber. Ironically, despite the poor experience, I still tipped over 20% -- more than $100 from our table alone -- because I did not want to reinforce unfair stereotypes about Latinos not tipping. Black & Blue has always justified its upscale pricing through excellent food and outstanding hospitality, which is why this experience was so disappointing. While the food remains exceptional, the atmosphere has become extremely loud and chaotic, to the point where it reminded me more of Red Lobster than the elevated dining experience this restaurant once offered. I truly hope management takes customer service more seriously moving forward, because this visit was nowhere near the standard Black & Blue used to represent.

An Honest Texas de Brazil Review for Meat Eaters…read more If you're a committed carnivore looking for a place where meat is the star of the show and you leave feeling full and satisfied, Texas de Brazil delivers. It's not a subtle dining experience-it's a marathon of meats, and for the right diner, it is absolutely worth it. The Main Attraction: The Meats The core of the experience is the endless parade of gaucho carving flame-grilled meats directly onto your plate. The quality is consistently good to very good - not necessarily dry-aged, steakhouse level, but far above typical chain fare. · Standouts: The Picanha is the signature must-try--juicy, flavorful, and perfectly salted. Another winner: Fraldinha, or bottom sirloin. Lamb chops are often excellent, and the parmesan-crusted pork loin is a surprise favorite for many. Bacon-wrapped chicken and filet mignon are reliably tender. * The Strategy: Make judicious use of the coaster provided-green for "go," red for "stop." Pace yourself. If something sounds less than thrilling to you (plain chicken, sausages), give it a pass and save room for the premium cuts. If you like something so much, feel free to ask for doneness or a specific cut. The Salve for the Savvy: The Salad & Sides Bar Salad bar is a huge understatement; it's a legitimate feast in and of itself. And includes more than 50 items: High-value items include smoked salmon, premium cheeses like manchego and buffalo mozzarella, salami, prosciutto, steamed asparagus, hearts of palm, and seafood salads. · Pro-Tip: One smart visit includes a first trip to the salad bar for these gourmet items only; avoid filling up on leafy greens or pasta salads. The hot sides, brought to the table-especially those garlic mashed potatoes and fried bananas-are delicious complements to the meat. The Value Proposition/The Crucial Question For a dinner price that's usually $55-$65 per head, depending on the location and date, it's good value if approached strategically. Worth it if: You have a big appetite and you like variety, and you'll focus on the higher-end meats and salad bar delicacies. It's also fantastic for any celebrations if you want a boisterous, indulgent atmosphere. Not worth it if: You're a light eater, like your steakhouse meal quiet and a la carte, or won't eat enough to make the upfront cost worthwhile. Drinks and dessert are extra; both can greatly increase the bill. The Vibe & Service Expect a busy, energetic atmosphere-it's not an intimate, quiet spot. Generally efficient, attentive service. With constant meat servers, you're never waiting long if your coaster is on green. Final Verdict for Meat Eaters: Delicious? Yes. The sheer variety of well-seasoned, freshly grilled meats is a carnivore's dream. The highlights-Picanha, lamb-are genuinely delicious. Worth it for most diners? For its target audience-absolutely. Go in with the right mindset: This is about abundance, not finesse. Arrive hungry, ignore the filler, pay attention to the premium offering, and you'll walk away satisfied that you received value for money spent in quality and quantity. It's a reliably great option for a special night out where the goal is to feast without limits.
