Attended a private party here. Really enjoyed the service, food, and atmosphere. Would definitely return. Filet was cooked well and on point. Broccolini was spicy but really enjoyed it. Mashed potatoes were great as well. To start I had the mixed green salad. Also incredibly delicious. Would definitely come back again. And would also recommend this restaurant for parties as well.

My husband and I ate at Tournedos for our wedding anniversary last weekend and had a really excellent experience. We had been hearing about how Tournedos is one of Rochester's best restaurants, but always assumed it was more of a 'hotel restaurant' and not the kind of atmosphere or menu we would be interested in....but we have been nearly everywhere else in Rochester and wanted to try something new, so I made a reservation. The food photos on Yelp helped us feel confident in our decision, though we were a little confused by some of the recent reviews talking about slow service, poor quality meals and a change in management. I am really happy to say our experience was all around great, from the service to the drinks to the meal to the extras lavished on us as folks celebrating a milestone. We arrived for our 6:30 pm reservation at exactly 6:30 pm. Upon entering, we took advantage of the free coat-check service, and approached the hostess. Our table was ready and we were seated in a corner table in a dining room that was about 60% full. The level of noise was low compared to what we had expected, and my hubs and I were able to converse without needing to raise our voices. We were immediately greeted by our server, Melissa, who brought menus and offered us our choice of iced tap water or sparkling (we took tap). We were also served fresh-out-of-the-oven bread, which came with plenty of whipped, easy-to-spread butter and an olive-oil-and-seasoning blend with large pieces of roasted garlic. Knowing that we wanted dessert, we decided to each have a single piece of bread, but then the bread was so warm with a perfect crust...I had 2 pieces and my hubby finished the loaf. Melissa was very attentive and efficient, taking our drink order and bringing our drinks in a very reasonable amount of time - I had a glass of pinot noir (in a huge glass with a very generous pour), and my hubby had a glass of cider. The restaurant also served us two complimentary glasses of champagne to help us celebrate our anniversary - unexpected and classy. For our dinner, we ordered: -- the colossal shrimp cocktail to start (3 very large shrimp, served cold with lemon and cocktail sauce - really good, really fresh) -- the aged porterhouse steak (at over 20 ounces, we split this, and the kitchen offered to slice it for us to make serving it easier, and we took them up on that) -- two sauces - the au poivre (pepper) sauce (which was very mild) and the béarnaise (very good) (and these were both complimentary/not charged) -- two side veggies (which are ala cart) - the asparagus (a large portion of 18 stalks, cooked perfectly) and the thousand-layer potatoes (thinly sliced potatoes cooked/baked with a cream cheese sauce over top). Although the steak was cooked a little more rare than we ordered, everything was delicious. We both agreed it was one of the best meals we've had in a long time. I'll also note that the meals are served on a cart, which is such an elegant presentation, and throughout the meal, Melissa checked on us numerous times. Finally, it was time for dessert, which was compulsory as this was a special occasion. Melissa wheeled over the dessert cart, full of digestifs, after-dinner liquors and dessert, and then slowly and deliberately showed us each dessert, close up, while explaining all the details. Everything looked great, but we decided on the Broadway chocolate cake with the layer of cheesecake in the middle, and we asked for a side of whipped cream (my husband's weakness). We also ordered coffees (caffeinated for the hubs, decaf for me - both were fresh and very good), and an amaro nonino digestif, which came served in a cute special glass. The kitchen hand whipped the whipped cream fresh, so that took a few extra minutes, but overall, the coffees and dessert were on the table at the same time, no excessive waiting. I am giving Tournedos 5 stars because it really represents the experience we had - service was excellent, food quality was excellent, wait times were normal, ambiance was lovely, menu selection was great, and, though this was a pricey meal at $250 with tax and tip, compared to what we can get locally for that price, I felt this was an exceptional value. It's not every day we shell out that kind of money, but on a special occasion, and knowing the service we received, we would do it again. Last note - the bill was delivered with two house-made, dark-chocolate truffles which were also excellent. And such a nice little end-of-evening treat!

Filet mignon - perfect crust and pink inside, melt in your mouth quality. Loved the crispness and seasoning of the fingerlings.

Wow! Went here for an educators dinner. Four courses were served and there was a wide array of choices - something for everyone. I had colossal shrimp. They were HUGE, which made it a bit tricky to eat. I loved how they were plated with a lemon wrapped in cheesecloth (no seeds fall out when squeezed) and a bit of seaweed salad on the side. FOr the second course I went with the mixed greens salad with balsamic. Would have loved a bit more cucumber, tomato, carrot, and onion, but it was a great way to get in some vegetables before the main entree. So happy that I ordered the filet. The server asked if I would like it medium or medium rare. The medium was the perfect pink inside and with a nice curst on the outside. It was certainly a steak to remember. The sides of green beans and fingerling potatoes were served family style. I loved the seasoning and crispness of the potatoes. Such a great meal. It took a while for the dessert to arrive, but it was worth the wait. A flourless chocolate cake, so rich and silky. Definitely a top notch steakhouse. I recommend using their valet parking service because the street parking is limited.

I struggled with how to rate this. I will explain more but if I broke it down it would be rated- Food 4 Service 2.5 Ambiance 3.5 This was my first visit so we arrived early to make sure we could find it and park. They had valet service which was quick when we arrived and when we pick up the vehicle after dinner. We were seated at our exact reservation time. They brought water to the table immediately on a cart with several water options-still, sparkling, iced. It was 15 min before our waitress arrived to ask if we wanted any other drinks. Bread was brought and a few minutes later they brought butter and a very garlicky dipping oil. We had the crab cake, Caesar salad, crustacean bisque, domestic Filet Minion, steak fries, ribeye and cheesecake. All sides are extra and shareable. Steaks come with your choice of sauce and we both chose the butter. All of the food was good but nothing was exceptional. In regards to the service the biggest issues were that it was slow and not attentive. We had to ask for additional drink. Table wasn't cleared between servings, waitress forgot there was a birthday at the table so didn't offer us that dessert. Waited 20 min after meal and all plates were cleared for waitress to come back and ask about dessert or the check. We didn't eat our dessert there and I think we were there a little over two hours. The restaurant has good decor and decent acoustics. We had a table next to us that decided to FaceTime and take phone calls so that took away from the experience but that isn't the restaurants fault. If I lived in the area I might try to give them another shot to see if the service was better.

Came on a Friday for brunch with the girls. Our reservations were for 1:45, and when we arrived, we were the only ones there! Not bad, as it was a holiday week. We did the brunch menu, where you select a drink, app, main & dessert. Everything was phenomenal, there is a dark ambiance there so it could be quite romantic! I had a glass of Sauvignon blanc, colossal shrimp, crustacean bisque & fudge brownie dessert. The shrimp were truly colossal, the bisque had huge chunks of crab & lobster in it, with a buttery bisque! So good, I wanted more! We will be back! Such a deal!

Beautiful building tucked at the end of Broadway in downtown Rochester. Exceptional dining experience - best in Rochester in my humble opinion (IMHO) - and it was our first time dining here. Valet only parking makes dining here an easy choice, although I did not see an accessible entrance. Once inside and up the stairs, the restaurant is to your left, restrooms are to the right. The hostess assured me that if a patron needs an accessible entrance, please simply notify the valet upon arrival and there is a side entrance with a lift off of the main lobby. The restaurant has dark wood paneling, hardwood floors, Roman shades - classy decor, yet cozy - and a large wine cellar. We were seated promptly, menus were provided, and Brandon & Megan took wonderful care of us. We were not rushed to put in an order, had time for a drink, bread and conversation. The oil with roasted garlic was perfect with the warm, crusty bread. We started with the marinated roasted beet salad - they plated it separately for us - and then ordered two of the best steaks ever. Seasoned and cooked perfectly, my 8oz petite wagyu ribeye was tender, flavorful, and simply delicious. Hubby also enjoyed his 18oz wagyu bone-in ribeye. The rich horseradish cream sauce and side of button & crimini mushrooms put the meal over the top. Warm hand towels were brought out after the dishes were cleared - very nice touch! Brandon wheeled over the cart of in-house made desserts and a variety of cordials. Hubby chose the banana bourbon bread pudding and I had the apple crisp. While the apple crisp was good, I highly recommend the bread pudding - the one spoonful I had was fantastic! And, as an added treat, Brandon brought us two house-made truffles with the check. The truffles were dark chocolate and a perfect way to end the meal. We enjoyed the evening, the atmosphere, and especially the food. Looking forward to our next meal here.

Definitely one of the best steaks in Rochester. I vacillate between a few restaurants for the best steak in town. In no particular order: Tournedos, Char Steak & Lounge at Strathallan Hotel and Max Chophouse. Depending on the cut, the steaks are pretty close at all 3 restaurants. However, Tournedos definitely wins for best atmosphere. Tables are spaced out well and it does not feel like you're dining in a hotel lobby. There is also an air of elegance and luxury that is missing at the other restaurants. Waiters push around a drink and dessert cart, which I am sure they find annoying, but it does add some novelty and hospitality to the dining experience. Sure, it's a bit of a show but I feel like it brings diners back to an era they may not have even experienced with tableside service. The menu is printed on one gigantic page of thick cardboard. A little different, but at least is easily navigable without the need to turn any pages. On my most recent visit, I went straight to the Texas Wagyu Bone-In Ribeye. It was excellent and pretty comparable to Char's Delmonico Ribeye. I enjoyed their house steak sauce, which was BBQ based and a bit sweet. My wife preferred the bordelaise sauce. Her filet was cooked perfectly and she liked it more than Char's filet. We ordered crab cakes and a Caesar salad to share. We also ordered fries and mushrooms as sides. Everything was delicious including the Bananas Fosters Dessert. Service was decent and food came out in a timely manner. Price-wise, Tournedos might be the most expensive out of the restaurants I listed. However, it's a good splurge for the special occasion.

We sat in the bar area at a table and the vibe was super chill and our server had great recommendations. Everything tasted excellent, the only bad part was the risotto portion was really small but it was super good.

The service was very excellent. I love ambiance especially the way the lights was dimmed. I had the king salmon with the shrimp on top which was great. The bar tender was also a great host.

This place has a reputation of being fancy with good steaks. Thus, we decided to have a post Valentine's day celebration to try it out. Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed with the experience, staff, and food. For the price that we paid, the service at the Golden Corral would have been comparable. The steaks that were so highly hyped on with a giant 1 page tablet describing the dry aged experience really did not live up the hype that we were hoping for. The dishes were large and heavy protein ones that made the meal feel like a chew fest all the way through. The staff seemed harried and burnt out. We ordered the Porter steak dry aged. It was an impressive sized cut of meat and it was a good steak but it was not spectacular. It felt kind of a chore to eat after half way because despite the large portion, there was not a side to break up the textures and flavor thus making this dish somewhat cumbersome to finish. We also ordered the feast of 7 fishes; another impressive dish on presentation but it a whole bowl of seafood. Delicious on the first few bites but definitely needs to be a dish shared by many people as it was a heavy protein dish without a pasta or something else to break up the protein. Would recommend calling side dishes for all their dishes but I feel the restaurant should revisit smaller protein portion with more balanced other textures. However, it was the service that was truly disappointing. We ordered our food at 8 pm and didn't get the food until 9:15 pm. we were the only ones with another couple that came at 9 for drinks. We were already not hungry from waiting that long and tired. The bartender was also our waiter and appeared harried; he made his rounds to ask people how they were doing but did not really seem to care but doing it out of obligation. By the time we paid our bill it was 10 p.m and we were pretty tired and i had to get up to go to the bar and there were people there, one standing there looking at me but made no move to the waiter that I was here to pay the bill. When he did notice I was there, the check was pretty much tossed at me while another person next to them was counting a large stack of cash. It felt tacky to see them count their cash in front of customers. The person who was also with coats and valet also pretty much crumpled my coat and tossed it at me. It it safe to say we will not be returning to this place. We tried to give feedback but there was no response, but given how harried everyone seemed, this is also not surprising.

Our party of five enjoyed one of the finest meals ever. Upon arrival, a well mannered valet opens your doors, escorts you out and saves you the trouble of finding a parking spot. Once inside the stately building, you are greeted by a hostess who points you to the coat check if you so desire and escorts you to a well appointed table. From the warm, sliced bread, right from the oven with a tasty garlic olive oil, to the extraordinary appetizers, this place doesn't disappoint. All food was cooked to perfection. The wait staff knows how to serve drinks and coffee and cuisine. They were polite and gracious and knowledgeable about every menu item. The table was set perfectly with appropriate flatware and suitable ramekins. The wine list is more than adequate for eclectic tastes, providing choices for delightful pairings with everything that is on their interesting and diverse menu. The bartenders mixed perfect drinks, a rarity these days. Fine dining is not forgotten in this establishment that has only gotten better since the last time we were here a few months ago when I awarded 4 stars. Much has improved in six months. Hot terry cloth towels for the guests after the main course was taken away and the table cleaned up. There is a noticeable upgrade to this fine dining restaurant, which went from very good to superb. Then came dessert. Oh my. A well informed staff member wheeled out a cart that contained very fine liqueurs, cognacs and ports, and an assortment of desserts that were as artistically presented as they were delicious. The bread pudding with croissant base was out of this world. As was the apple crisp, and every other item we tried. The coffee cups remained filled. Tournedos is a destination restaurant; well worth a trip from Buffalo for the cuisine and ambience. If I could award a sixth star, I would.

I want to try out Vern's again, so I may wait until there's an outdoor table or ask to sit in the second level to see if that's quieter. We tried one of their spring menu appetizer items, the Japanese sweet potatoes with kimchi ranch and dill. One bite and I was addicted, these were so so good. We then moved on to the classics for entrees -- bee sting pizza and the ragu-- and we were amazed at how good everything was! The only note we had was about the pizza, it was very soggy in the middle but still edible if you rolled it over in itself. We also had a few cocktails, and while they were somewhat small, you could tell they weren't watered down in any way. Two drinks was more than enough for me. Overall it was a great experience and we want to try it again. If you're someone who struggles to enjoy a meal out where you can't hear much, maybe wait for outdoor tables.

An unforgettable 50th birthday dinner!…read more My wife treated me to dinner here, and from start to finish, the experience was exceptional. The food was absolutely outstanding. Every dish was cooked to perfection, beautifully presented, and packed with flavor. This is the kind of meal you keep talking about long after you leave. What truly elevated the night, though, was the service. Our waiter Andy was phenomenal. Attentive, knowledgeable, warm, and effortlessly professional. He struck that perfect balance of being present without hovering, and his recommendations were spot on. Junior waiter James was equally impressive, thoughtful, polished, and clearly invested in making sure we had a great experience. They made us feel celebrated without being over-the-top, which is not easy to do. The entire team contributed to an atmosphere that felt upscale, welcoming, and memorable. If you are celebrating something important or simply want an incredible dining experience, Black & Blue delivers on every level. I couldn't have asked for a better way to celebrate such a milestone birthday. Highly recommend.

I consider myself somewhat of a restaurant expert, and until my most recent visit, Black & Blue in…read morePittsford had been one of my favorite restaurants. Unfortunately, this Mother's Day 5/10/26 experience was disappointing enough that I felt compelled to leave a review. We had reservations for 3:30 PM on Mother's Day, and in the special request section of the reservation, I clearly specified that this was a Mother's Day celebration. I also requested a quiet or private booth and mentioned that my daughter is vegetarian. Upon arrival, we were seated upstairs directly next to what appeared to be an employee service area. We could constantly hear employees talking, dishes being washed or thrown around, and overall it was easily the loudest table in the restaurant. What made this more frustrating was that another couple seated next to us complained loudly about their table and caused a scene. Although staff initially explained the restaurant was full, they were eventually moved. Meanwhile, we had politely requested a better table in advance through the reservation system, yet because we were patient and understanding, it felt like we were simply ignored. Service throughout the meal was inconsistent and inattentive. It took quite a while before anyone took our drink order. The wine menu presented to me only included wines by the glass, despite the fact that I later saw servers bringing full bottles of wine and champagne to other tables. I wanted to order a bottle of champagne for the occasion, but by the time our waitress finally arrived, I didn't want to complicate things further. Another detail that stood out was the complete lack of acknowledgment for Mother's Day. I overheard our waitress enthusiastically wishing other tables a "Happy Mother's Day" and asking if they were celebrating anything special, yet she never once acknowledged me or our celebration. My husband ordered a piña colada and was told they could not make one, so he settled for a strawberry martini that was overwhelmingly sweet and unenjoyable. We chose not to complain. The food itself, as always, was excellent and truly the highlight of the evening. However, the service continued to feel rushed and impersonal. I was planning to order my favorite espresso martini after dinner, but instead the bill was simply dropped at the table without anyone asking if we wanted dessert or another drink. One employee who was handling bread and water service also made us feel rushed. While I was literally still chewing my food, she interrupted to ask, "Should I bag that for you?" It made me feel like we were being pushed out. I was also disappointed that despite specifically mentioning my daughter was vegetarian in the reservation notes, our waitress never offered vegetarian suggestions or asked about dietary restrictions. At most upscale restaurants, this level of attentiveness is expected. The most upsetting part of the evening, however, was what felt like dismissive and unprofessional behavior toward us as Latinos. My husband has an accent, and our waitress repeatedly pretended not to understand him. At one point, after commenting on his accent, she laughed and said, "Or maybe I'm deaf." We found this rude, uncomfortable, and inappropriate for a restaurant of this caliber. Ironically, despite the poor experience, I still tipped over 20% -- more than $100 from our table alone -- because I did not want to reinforce unfair stereotypes about Latinos not tipping. Black & Blue has always justified its upscale pricing through excellent food and outstanding hospitality, which is why this experience was so disappointing. While the food remains exceptional, the atmosphere has become extremely loud and chaotic, to the point where it reminded me more of Red Lobster than the elevated dining experience this restaurant once offered. I truly hope management takes customer service more seriously moving forward, because this visit was nowhere near the standard Black & Blue used to represent.

An Honest Texas de Brazil Review for Meat Eaters…read more If you're a committed carnivore looking for a place where meat is the star of the show and you leave feeling full and satisfied, Texas de Brazil delivers. It's not a subtle dining experience-it's a marathon of meats, and for the right diner, it is absolutely worth it. The Main Attraction: The Meats The core of the experience is the endless parade of gaucho carving flame-grilled meats directly onto your plate. The quality is consistently good to very good - not necessarily dry-aged, steakhouse level, but far above typical chain fare. · Standouts: The Picanha is the signature must-try--juicy, flavorful, and perfectly salted. Another winner: Fraldinha, or bottom sirloin. Lamb chops are often excellent, and the parmesan-crusted pork loin is a surprise favorite for many. Bacon-wrapped chicken and filet mignon are reliably tender. * The Strategy: Make judicious use of the coaster provided-green for "go," red for "stop." Pace yourself. If something sounds less than thrilling to you (plain chicken, sausages), give it a pass and save room for the premium cuts. If you like something so much, feel free to ask for doneness or a specific cut. The Salve for the Savvy: The Salad & Sides Bar Salad bar is a huge understatement; it's a legitimate feast in and of itself. And includes more than 50 items: High-value items include smoked salmon, premium cheeses like manchego and buffalo mozzarella, salami, prosciutto, steamed asparagus, hearts of palm, and seafood salads. · Pro-Tip: One smart visit includes a first trip to the salad bar for these gourmet items only; avoid filling up on leafy greens or pasta salads. The hot sides, brought to the table-especially those garlic mashed potatoes and fried bananas-are delicious complements to the meat. The Value Proposition/The Crucial Question For a dinner price that's usually $55-$65 per head, depending on the location and date, it's good value if approached strategically. Worth it if: You have a big appetite and you like variety, and you'll focus on the higher-end meats and salad bar delicacies. It's also fantastic for any celebrations if you want a boisterous, indulgent atmosphere. Not worth it if: You're a light eater, like your steakhouse meal quiet and a la carte, or won't eat enough to make the upfront cost worthwhile. Drinks and dessert are extra; both can greatly increase the bill. The Vibe & Service Expect a busy, energetic atmosphere-it's not an intimate, quiet spot. Generally efficient, attentive service. With constant meat servers, you're never waiting long if your coaster is on green. Final Verdict for Meat Eaters: Delicious? Yes. The sheer variety of well-seasoned, freshly grilled meats is a carnivore's dream. The highlights-Picanha, lamb-are genuinely delicious. Worth it for most diners? For its target audience-absolutely. Go in with the right mindset: This is about abundance, not finesse. Arrive hungry, ignore the filler, pay attention to the premium offering, and you'll walk away satisfied that you received value for money spent in quality and quantity. It's a reliably great option for a special night out where the goal is to feast without limits.

My chair was adjacent to the area where waitresses were dropping off dirty bar glasses.clinking; sloppyz; waitress actually reached over me to put something in the table with the dirty glassware ; gave her a look and she apologized. Salad bar was good., waitress initially was cheerful when we were seated; gave the usual info and asked if medium rare was ok as all our meat is done that way . No meat arriving for a very long time. No one in the dining room if you looked around. Eventually flank steak arrived ; medium but ok . Then a huge lapse with no meat . About that time waitress arrived with mashed and bananas. Better late than never! Asked if we had gotten what we wanted for meat... we did get one piece each of hammered filet in the interim. We told her we're wanted piqueno (Brazilian cut) and flank steak and wanted medium rare as she had outlined . Her response was al"well there are a lot of people here tonight who want medium well and well done" and sooooooooo. We told her that was not an acceptable answer. She must have gotten the manager who arrived with the Brazilian cut himself and cut it himself. Shortly after medium rare flank steak arrived. Dessert and coffee/tea not offered...can't imagine why not! Don't let the door hit you in the way out. Ughhh...

On the reservation form (online) it doesn't mention needing to place a comment in the notes for special occasions that you'd like a booth- so unfortunately, even though the place was pretty empty upon arrival we were unable to have a booth - the hostess said "had I known by you placing that request in the comments section online I might have been able to secure you a booth- but it's not guaranteed." - wait, what?? Not sure why they take online reservations then. Started dinner with a salad which was delicious and bread that was pretty basic and unfortunately the oil that they served with it was a simple and nothing special. For our entrees, my partner had the dual filets, which I'm sorry to report were seasoned with so much pepper that it took away from the steaks themselves. I had the salmon wrapped in bacon- which was superb. My partner had wished he had gotten it after trying one compared to his and after tasting his steak I'd have to agree it would have been a better choice. Hoping if we try this again it will be a better experience. Staff were nice, but not very welcoming. Decor could use some upgrades. Not sure if I would recommend.
