We had dinner at Hedges Nine Mile Point in Webster and overall really enjoyed it. We got the rosé, which isn't shown on the menus in the Yelp photos, but it was amazing. Highly recommend. Then we had the lobster bisque. It came out quite hot, tasted good, though the presentation was a little messy. For mains, we had the prime rib. Definitely a huge portion. The au jus was a bit lacking in my opinion, but the mashed potatoes and the green beans were delicious. I was told they don't offer gravy on the side, which was a bit of a shame. Service was a bit slow, but it was prime time at the end of May, so that's understandable. The live music was amazing. And honestly the atmosphere and the view are unbeatable. That alone makes it worth a visit. Interior is "dated" to some but it's what makes Hedges so unique and I personally wouldn't change it! read more

Upscale steak/seafood place with incredible views of Ontario Lake. HUGE portions. A great place to go for a celebration. The desserts come in giant glass about 1.5 feet tall, the steaks massive, and the atmosphere a good festive place that makes you feel like you are on some nautical adventure. Steaks- must get. We got the rib eye and we got the standard size- 18 oz? It was HUGE. I had to flag the waitress down to makes sure they didn't give us the wrong order due to the size. We had to take it home between 2 people. Luckily we didn't call the 24 oz. That thing would have been about 1 foot across. If you're eating for 1 person, get the 14 oz. that is plenty. the 24 oz can probably feed a family of 4. Appetizers wise, I thought these weren't as impressive as the main courses. you may be ok with not ordering these unless you just want to kill time and have things to graze on. the main portions are already so big that I would save your appetite for that instead. We ordered sriracha apricot duck legs which were ok- just reminded me of some Panda Express Honey chicken dish. The artichokes were also not memorable. Crab cakes were good- definitely get this if you had to get an appetizer. Fresh oysters were fresh. If you're an oyster person, would also get this. Seafood- we ordered the Tuscan seafood pasta. This was actually an ok dish. The seafood was plenty but it was such a large dish with the pasta being a little too overcooked by the time you get 1/3 in that it was kind of a big overwhelming underflavored dish. If you can split it fast among like 3-4 people and eat it fast while hot this may taste better. For 1-2 people it's ok for flavor. We had to to go this dish because it was on a blander in with a LOT of protein Desserts- definitely need to order one of their GIANT sundaes. it's served in a glass wine glass the about 1 foot tall making it impressive in presentation and definitely setting the tone for celebration at your table. Service- attentive and good. Atmosphere- loud and celebratory. Think of nautical ship vibes and drinks galore and large seafood. I can't believe it's the first time I've been to Hedges for dinner, but it was our anniversary so I thought it was a special night and a good night to go there! Being that it's a Friday night in the summer, I got a reservation a few days in advance and they had a 7 PM so I took that. They suggested that we come early and sit out on the Adirondack chairs or picnic tables with a drink and enjoy the lake, which we did. It was beautiful. They have a huge bar and there was a band playing nice oldies and blues tunes. We were able to get a table right next to the window, which was nice. I was told that the lobster bisque was something to order so even on a hot summer night, we both ordered it and it was fantastic! So creamy and delicious and with nice chunks of lobster in it. Wifey ordered the Chicken Brittany, which is kind of a thicker version of a chicken French. She really enjoyed that and only was able to eat half of it. I ordered the two pork chops which come with onion rings on top and some apples on the side. It was also really great -nice and juicy. I ended up taking one of the pork chops home for dinner the next night. Despite the place being completely full, it was not overly loud. It was a real pleasant dinner. And as a bonus, my friend Laura was working the bar- which she does on Friday nights. And we had two servers taking care of us - who were both very pleasant and friendly. We had reservations for Saturday @ 6pm. We were seated at our table on the side where you had a bit of a water view. One of the waitresses came over with a basket of bread and our ice waters with lemon. Then our actual waitress came to the table and took our drink & appetizer order. She was cute & nice and very pregnant lol! She came back to the table with our appetizers and then she took our main course orders. I got the Vegetable Risotto to which I loved and my significant other got the Halibut. After a short wait we were served our main course. To which our meals were hot. The ambience was pretty good and it was kind of busy. After our meal we got the chocolate/ peanut butter cake. However, I didn't eat any I was captivated by the sunset which was incredible. So I got a couple inside and then I ran outside and got more pictures. So all in all a great night! read more

My wife had the Tuscan Seafood Pasta (loaded with seafood) - more on that in the next paragraph. We finished up with two nice desserts. The service was average. Tab was $240 before tip. So what's the problem? Well, my wife's pasta, at $56. was totally tasteless. Not just the pasta in white clam sauce but also the seafood. I don't have any idea how you make lobster, crab, scallops and shrimp tasteless, but apparently there is a way. My wife didn't want to make an issue of it because it was our anniversary and she didn't want to bring it up as she felt it might detract from our evening. However, on the way home and the next day, she said that she really didn't like her meal. Also, I wasn't paying attention during dinner, but my wife also said she salted her meal 3 time ... this from a woman who never salts her food. I called Hedges the next day and spoke to a lady who was the "floor manager" and explained the problem. Her answer was a curt "you should have said something when you were here" and she made no offer to compensate - and that was before I even asked. I told her we had patronized them before and were always satisfied but this didn't move her. Keep in mind I was always pleasant, so after she refused to do anything and she told me that the next time, I should speak up, I thanked her for her time, reminded her that there are many fine restaurants in the area and that we wouldn't be returning. I hung up after wishing her a good evening. End of the story is this - we dine out frequently, we always liked watching a sunset at Hedges and always enjoyed our meals. The restaurant has amazing views of Lake Ontario. There's a nice lawn with seating and cute small lighthouses that light up at night. There's plenty of parking here and the restaurant has a nice local vibe. On Friday night, there was a live band. Service was attentive and quick. The Chicken Brittany is their version of the Chicken French. It comes with salad and your choice of starch. Come here for the atmosphere on a summer evening and watch the sunset from an Adirondak chair with gorgeous views of the lake. The service was impeccable and everyone was so accommodating for our party of 6 including 3 young children. I wouldn't say this is a kid-friendly place by any means, but the staff were great while my kids figured out whether clams casino were a go/no go. What was a go was the massive brownie sundae that feeds an entire family! People should post more pictures of it. This is a lovely restaurant on the lake, perfect for a date night or with family, preferably adults. Super disappointment. Was so looking forward to enjoying a nice dinner. Fridays and Saturdays they do not serve food at the bar. You need a reservation. We were lucky to get a table. Ordered the filet mignon with crab meat and the sea bass. I was never told the sea bass came with Broccoli and I am allergic to it. When it came I told the waitress I was allergic. She just said "oh I didn't know" , she never offered another vegetable or side which was very surprising to me. I transferred the broccoli to my side bread plate and proceeded to try my sea bass. The sea bass was seared , however very cool inside. The outside was not hot either. It was as though it was cooled and sat. Also the broccoli I transferred was cool. The sea bass was not only cool but translucent. I could not enjoy it prepared this way. The steak was shared with me since I was unable to eat mine. First bite was tough and I could not consume it. The bread was very greasy my fingers shined with oil when I picked it up. One of the worst meals I have had. The filet was topped with snow crab which not very expensive and the dish was $90.00. I'd describe Hedges as worth the visit in Summer and allow some time before or after your meal to enjoy the outside space on the shore of Lake Ontario. A number of dining tables have a nice view of the lake as well. The menu is limited and most items are expensive. Service was very good and the staff was friendly. Steaks and seafood on the menu. A unique experience, not in a good way...my wife's birthday seemed like a nice occasion to go back to Hedges, a place we haven't gone to in over 5 years. To our observation, the place looks exactly the way it did 5 years ago, just the same as the clientele, outdated and tired. We grabbed reservations months in advance and dispite being at the top of the reservation list for the day, we were sat in the worse table in the house. What we expected was a nice view of the lake, we never saw the water. We sat to a tiny table for 2 and my salad fork was dirty. Not a great start. We chose to both have a cup of the lobster bisque and a dozen clams. This was the only redeeming factor for the night. The worn out menus were as old as the style of dishes available, but we tried to keep a positive outlook. I asked for a whiskey/bourbon list, to which the server was not able to provide, so she went though the options. Fortunately one of my favorites was amung the list and chose to make an old fashioned with that spirit. My wife ordered a martini. Moments later the watress returned to tell me they didn't have that spirit. Disappointed but another option was available. Once I received the cocktail, it was clearly made wrong. Not, not to my liking but just missed a step. Still drinkable I didn't complain. We ordered our meal, my wife chose the Lobster Risottoa and I opted for the signature Tuscan Seafood Pasta. A packed full value of seafood for around $58. Looking forward to the meal, we received in a perfectly reasonable time given the surprising packed restaurant given the early reservation. My wife's risotto was good, my meal however was beyond repair. The only edible portion was the seafood that was cooked separately in the shells. The base of the dish however was unbelievably overcooked. Rubbery lobster, dry crab meat, but the worse part was the scallops, which I was unaware of the possibility to be so overcooked that it became fiberous. My belief is that the "stew" of different leftovers from the night prior were thrown into a broth to be cooked until no life was able to be found within the meat. Our waitress did everything right as far as she could. Clearly not her fault, she offered many options but at this point we were just looking to be done. I asked for another drink which also came back to be not available, this one considered to be a typical bar standard spirit to have on hand. I opted to just get another one of the first drinks. This one was a little better than the first. She still received a nice tip. I am one to never complain to this level, certainly never send my food back to the kitchen. I can only think of 2 other times in my life I chose to complain or simply not eat. We did receive compensation for my main dish. Overall, just disappointed. Would love to try them again in the future. It just wasn't their night. read more

This place is EXPENSIVE. Couple surf and turfs, couple icecreams, glass of wine and a diet coke. 420$ That is a weeks pay for some people. So what are you paying for? The food was satisfying but it isn't why people come here. I will probably go back some other time, primarily because it is so beautiful there. No complaints with the food, I just feel like they should either have some exotic edge on their food or lower the price/ lower the portions. We don't need to eat so much we feel sick (and believe me we can pack it). But I tell you what if I lived in Webster I might hit that spot a lot more just for drinks or icecream. There is absolutely huge willowtree in the back and you can see a large part of the coast of Rochester from that location with the sun setting over Greece. The green beans were blanched but had no seasoning on them. My partner had the wabashi tuna which was also okay but didn't have the spiciness he'd have liked & was on a bed of (uncooked?) cabbage. Our salads were extremely pathetic with iceberg lettuce and one thick slice of cucumber. The decor looked like it hadn't updated since the '70's. The tables & chairs were too close together making it hard to get up. The live music started as we were finishing dinner. It terribly loud & we were as far away from it could've been. We took my mom for her birthday tonight as we wanted to celebrate with a more upscale dinner. We haven't been to Hedges in many years, but had fond memories of past visits and that it had great food. Unfortunately, it seems that standard has drastically changed. The french onion soup was good and had a tasty broth, however the cheese was fairly burnt on top. Two of us ordered the $50 Filet Mignon and we couldn't get past two bites of it. The flavor was similar to the smell of an elephants cage at the zoo. It was a poor cut of beef and definitely not the prime cut that the menus states it is. My mom and brother both ordered the Surf and Turf that cost over $130 each. Her filet was gray and not edible and he stated that his had a very bad flavor and left it on the plate. The lobster was tasteless and also not up to the price they are charging for market value. My husband's Prime Rib was the only meal that was actually enjoyed. The waitress did come over just after delivery to ask how everything was, but we hadn't tried it yet and were still cutting so we weren't able to tell her it wasn't good. We did not see her for the rest of the meal. When the busser came over to clear out plates, we let her know that we didn't want to keep the uneaten food and that they should let the chef know to check the meat as it may be spoiled. The waitress came back at the end to ask if we wanted dessert, and we did let her know that the chef should make a steak to try themselves because there may be something wrong. She was very apologetic and said we should have let her know sooner, however we also thought it would look like we were just trying to get free meals and we didn't want it to appear that way since 4 of the 6 of us had the steak. We did not request anything off of the bill and they didn't offer, so we paid our over $500 bill + tip and know this is a place we won't go back to. My favorite dish is their lobster risotto. 4 of the 6 people in my party ordered it. The portion size is very large. You will have leftovers or it's a great size to share with 1-2 other people! Topped with two large lobster claws and multiple chunks of lobster throughout the dish! Just about every bite has lobster. For $45, it is worth every penny! Once our dinners hit the table we were never looked at again until it was time to get us moving... everyone at the table wanted to order another drink along with some Dinner accompaniments but Our server never came back to the table. loved the old school vibe.. hostess was sweet... waitress and assistant were nice... but overall felt underwhelmed for the price and felt like their goal was to get us out for next group coming in. One of the best pork chops I've ever had. The atmosphere here was awesome. My girlfriend and I stopped in and got a booth seat by the bar and they so happened to have live music that night. The music wasn't too loud, but really provided a wonderful atmosphere. I ordered a moscow mule and for the price of the drink I absolutely think it was worth the money as it was a great pour and not diluted by ginger beer. I had the French onion soup and it was AMAZING. Most of the time soups have the soggiest of bread, but somehow the bread was crisp and it was quite delightful. The best part was the pork chops. Holy moly. Probably one of the best pork chops I've ever had partly because of the onion straws and apples. Our server was spot on. It was cooked just perfectly and I'm happy I ordered two so that I had leftovers. Would absolutely recommend coming here if you're in the area! read more

what happened to this place?? Been going here for years but was so disappointed! Forget the outrageous prices which wouldn't be so bad if the food was good! Terrible. Ordered scallops and expected seafood but what I got were scallops covered in what I can only describe as pepper flakes! They were so hot that I could only eat a few before my mouth started to burn. waitress was no where to be found even though we were practically the only ones there. Expressed my dissatisfaction with the girl who took my plate away and asked her to express to someone in charge. Not a word. On my way out I caught the owner and expressed my feelings in a quiet way so as not to draw attention. He gave me some vague answer and walked away. after years of supporting this restaurant, I will not be going back again. Not worth the money. read more

I grew up in Webster and this was a go to for special occasions and was always good. It's been about 30 years since I've been, and still a great special occasion spot. You must have a reservation for a Saturday dinner ! I called on Thursday and was lucky to get the very last spot for Saturday at 5pm for 2. The bar is open for walk in drinks, and I can see why they don't serve at the bar, outside, or takeaway on Fridays and Saturdays. It's very very busy. I read many reviews that were negative because of this and saw golfers turned away last night. Now, it's pricey but absolutely worth the price. As someone who was paying for sit down service, it was great to have the attention and food we deserved for the money. Our food was great. The garlic bread was delicious ( although it didn't look as good as it tasted) an rolls fresh. The homemade French and blue cheese dressing on the generous salads also outstanding. First time I ever had to take home an appetizer! No way I could eat it and eat my special of chicken artichoke french that was delicious. ( almost as good as mine) my partner also ordered that and we ended up taking 3/4 each of that home. Next time I'll know so we can share one of the yummy looking butterscotch sundaes. Those that say the decor is outdated, well maybe but it's all in good shape. (Only criticism is the chairs are slight uncomfortable as they lean way back.
