For a celebratory dinner, four of us sat near the kitchen door. Servers was trying to move us along like it was a Friday night, inappropriately fast. The place was half seated. From the get-go small bugs flew around us all at the table. Possible fruit flies problem. I was able to kill one. I presented it on a napkin to the young man who was cleaning tables. I asked him to give this to the manager stating there was a bug problem that annoyed our dinner. Crickets! Spaghetti sauce is too thick like a paste. Not good. The stuffed mushrooms appetizer was drop dead delicious. I wouldn't be bothered writing this if not for the bug problem with no managerial comment. read more

Went out for a fish fry on a recent Friday night. Ambiance was pleasant. Service was excellent. New England Clam Chowder was delicious. The house salad was fresh and crisp. All great so far! Unfortunately the fish fry itself was on the bland side. It took a few good shakes of salt to bring out the flavor. The tartar sauce was a little too sweet for my taste. The mashed potatoes were smooth and creamy but also bland and lacking flavor. So, here we are with some positives and some negatives. I wouldn't even have bothered to write a review except for this - normally the mashed potatoes don't come with gravy so I asked for some. It wasn't the best gravy, but it was okay. I fully expected there to be an upcharge for it, probably $.75 or maybe $1.00 at most. The upcharge for the gravy (a tiny dish of 2 or 3 tablespoons) was $2.00!!! Unbelievable. Only one visit with me and my other half. We had bruschetta app, I had chicken parm w/ salad, she had gnocchi w/ salad (both with Italian dressing). Mozzarella was homemade, Italian dressing I think was house made, croutons even looked fresh made. Everything was VERY good. Service was pretty good, they did initially forget our salads but offered to bring them out or give us a free dessert for our trouble. We were checked on a bit throughout but not too much. I would've like to see drinks offered to be refilled at some point, but not a big deal. Dirty dishes were removed from the table quickly. Biggest downside to me is the atmosphere, we sat inside and it was very loud. They also have a "sport bar" type area and NFL ticket so I'm sure game days get crazy! Outside seating looked nice but we were worried about it getting cold. All in all a good experience and I would go back. Prices went way up. Ordered a cheeseburger little pricey. The waitress asked me what kind of cheese I would like named them all Picked mozzarella. When we got the bill it was a 2.00 up charge. Also up charged my wife 2.00 for blue cheese on her salad. Ended up with a 62.00 bill for a cheeseburger and she had a salad and we had a a beer and a glass of wine. A classic Main St dining room indeed. Unpretentious, warm, and inviting. I have eaten in the dining area and yesterday settled in at the bar for drinks and a meal. Blair the bartender ... simply awesome. Attentive, conversational just the right amount, and pours a mean drink. The Arlington is a great place to eat. The lunch menu has a lot of options, and my group ordered a variety of meals and each one was very good. Their salads are a good way to start off, or order one as the main dish. The staff is attentive, and provides personal service. One of my favorites for years, many great meals until recently. Our table of four had a 50% success at receiving a decent meal. My fish was over cooked this time and my sides were cold. I have been here several times with my fiancee and her family. This place is situated in the small town of Hilton, NY. We don't frequent Hilton very often but when we do, we usually end up here for food. The outside is quaint and simple. It is a standalone building amidst several others surrounding a parking area, which can become quite crowded especially on Friday and Saturday nights. Upon entering, you will see the coat area and a few tables for those who are waiting. A dart board is to the right and the full bar is straight ahead. You go slightly to the left and the dining room approaches. The decor is simple with a rustic farm country type of style. The menu is not a typical family restaurant where you have pages and pages of everything. There is a soup and salad section, a specials section, a burger section, and an entree section. The clam chowder is quite good. I also got the beer battered fish fry with fries and coleslaw. It was very nicely done with a crisp outer layer surrounding the moist fish. The fries are very crispy and the coleslaw went well with the whole ensemble. I have also had the chicken pot pie, which is decent, and the shepherd's pie, which is decent. Their dinner rolls (when they remember) are delicious. Bready and yeasty, the crust gives a touch of crunch, yet gives easily to expose the warm, soft, and chewy interior. The service is decent. Nothing really spectacular. The waitresses do a good basic job. Overall, a nice change of pace from a typical family restaurant. 3.5 stars. read more

Until tonight, it'd been more than 5 years since I'd been to the Arlington. It was my uncle's favorite restaurant, and we'd go at least once when my parents and I were here visiting. Sometime within the past 5 years they got new owners-something my aunt told us. I don't really care for it now that they have new owners and a new menu. My uncle (RIP) would be quite sad to learn they don't have his favorite Steak Diane anymore. It was pretty delicious. Anyway, on to the present. I ordered a Caesar salad. It was okay, but I was really glad that I ordered the dressing on the side, because as it turned out- it was actually a mix of oil, vinegar, and spices. It wasn't a traditional caesar at all, and with my intestinal probs and the fact that oil has 14g of fat/tablespoon, it was a darn good thing I didn't add any. It was totally annoying to not have a real caesar dressing, but I ate the salad anyway. The rest of the fam seemed to like their food, so that was good at least, but I wasn't really impressed. This is my favorite local restaurant, and for good reason! The food is fresh, scratch made, homestyle cooking in an intimate setting perfect for families or for sharing laughs with friends. You can't beat the quality or the prices, and you certainly won't find a place with more heart. This is a jewel in Hilton and we are lucky to have it! Chicken French is a Rochester staple and you won't find a better version anywhere. We also love the meatloaf (and it isn't easy to get excited about meatloaf, haha!), the crispy pork cutlets with country gravy, the fish fry, and the burger. We've also never had a miss with the soup special, their award winning chili, or the creative gourmet specials they surprise us with nightly. If you're on the West side, I can't recommend the Arlington enough. Give yourself a break from the dishes and let them do your home cooking tonight. read more

I have been here before but tonight I was in a hurry and stopped by with my wife for a quick drink. They have a great selection of craft draft beers and tonight they had the latest from Thin Man Brewery. It was delicious. So we decided to get a bite to eat at the bar. We ordered the clam chowder which didn't disappoint and at the recommendation of the bartender we split the Prime Rib sandwich. All I can say is OMG. The sauce and caramelized onion were just the right touch and the soft roll with a touch of salt exceeded my expectations. I wasn't expecting to be impressed by the fries but we ordered extra crispy and they arrived as a thin steak cut style with some potato skin. All I will say is once again OMG. Cute little restaurant in Hilton, the prices here are really good. I got the chicken parm and it was very tasty. It was quiet when we went on a weeknight so service was quick and friendly. The decor could use a little updating but still wasn't horrible. The bar was pretty crowded when we got there but the dining room is on the other side and there is a wall between the two so you can't hear or see it when dining. read more
