My new favorite spot to hit up the next time we're in Rochester. The food, the service, and the ambiance were all top notch with no complaints. The bread was fantastic and boy, they don't skip! They gave us a very generous basket of bread that our large party of 9 crushed, and then brought us ANOTHER complimentary when we raved about how good it was. I got the broccoli and macaroni for my entree and it was amazing. Nothing too fancy, mostly plain, but so flavorful and delicious. We have been to the Brook House many times and it gets better as we explore the menu. Tonight I tried the Chicken Diquatro for the first time. I usually have the Saltimbocca, but the waitress said this was good and it was. I enjoy anything over escarole! My wife had the Veal ala Fedele that includes eggplant and is her favorite. We recommend both these dishes. The portions are generous and packed well to avoid leakage if you have leftovers. We had reservation on a busy, early Saturday evening. The hostess found us, as promised, at the bar after only a short wait. If you are rushed for dinner or just plain impatient then go to a fast food joint. Expect a leisurely meal here and you won't be disappointed. To those who pretend to be Italian gourmets and complain about the sauce, we have never had anything but tasty, well-prepared food. One of my favorite restaurants in Rochester. I remembered that we needed reservations so quickly made them for 4. To my pleasant surprise we were seated in the room off the main dining room. In the room was Fedele's family memorabilia. It decorated the walls. It was so nostalgic and brought back so many beautiful memories. I went to the Brooke house with my family as a child. Our waitress was attentive, efficient, friendly, and patient with us. The food as always was delicious. We ordered one of the specials of the day which was stuffed rigatoni with a meat sauce. Saturday night the 8th we went to Red Fedele's for dinner without reservations. it was kind of early so we sat at the bar for about 30 minutes and the hostess came and got us. We sat at a booth by the east side windows. So off to a great start for dinner. Our waitress came over and took our drink order and appetizer order. To which I didn't eat because it was Clams Casino- not a fan and I'm a vegetarian. He enjoyed it though. And he got the fish & shrimp,clams dish with a side of rigatoni to which he said it was delicious. I got the Ziti Cianciola my favorite thing when we dine at the Brook house. We are starting to really love coming to Red Fedele's Brook House. The people are friendly, the food is great and the decor cracks me up. They have statues of lots of famous people, pictures of them as well. It was Halloween season when we went and they had witches hats on the little statuettes. But about our dinner- it starts off with some yummy Italian bread and a decent salad. We both ordered the Chicken Saltimbocca this time - it's very tasty with the prosciutto and peppers on top. A side dish of ziti compliments the meat. We both enjoyed our meal- our server Danielle is prolly and ultra- friendly! The place was packed on a regular Tuesday night. This restaurant was highly recommended by some folks we met while in town for a ballgame. We were told the calamari was the best available. The restaurant was busy, but not at full capacity. We tried the calamari appetizer and it was really good. The salads were also good. The bread that came to the table looked like something purchased from the grocery store. Do not believe it was prepared onsite or fresh. The main courses we ordered were a variety of seafood and pasta dishes that were recommended by the wait staff. None of the 5 members of our party were impressed with the food. Mostly overcooked and canned ingredients. Maybe this was an off night, or maybe this is normal for the area. I joined my friends, who were celebrating their 47th wedding anniversary, for dinner. For a Tuesday it was very, very busy but after a short wait our table was ready. We ordered drinks and dinner which came in short time even though the kitchen must have been under a great deal of pressure by the sheer number of patrons. Sadly, this restaurant has gone terribly downhill. The food is poor to mediocre at best. One of my friends said, 'The sauce tastes like creamy tomato soup'. As an Italian, I will never spend my money to eat here again. The service was quite poor. The waitress was very inattentive and made several mistakes with our orders. People's food came out at all different times. One person didn't get hers until everyone else was almost finished. The decor hasn't been updated in many years and resembles 1960's old cheap, fake Italian party houses. This place was good twenty five years ago; perhaps it's time to retire. read more

This my husband's family's go to for eating good Italian food. The owners know his family quite well. It is always quite busy so definitely make a reservation. Parking is ample and all the dishes are plentiful and hearty. My favorites are the gnocchi and grilled chicken platter. The big clams pasta is also great! been here a few times now, once for a private party. the family atmosphere feels nice, the staff is kind and attentive. there are 4 sections of the restaurant for available seating. two of the rooms can be for private parties. the first time we sat in the family room in one of the middle tables in the front of the restaurant. got bread and butter (would usually like olive oil with seasoning, but this is fine. the menu has many options with the classic Italian selections. the second time I went in one of the back rooms separated by doors. felt cozy. we were seated with a long table for the party family style. third time I went was in the back room where the bar and tvs. this location is nice if you want to watch any sports. the food and service all three times were great. one visit when the waitress was busy other staff stepped in to help serve us. would always choose to come here for a family celebration or just a night out for Italian food. the place isn't too loud when its busy this might be because of the high ceilings, not sure. either way its a plus. read more

One thing to know about this place - it is SUPER popular with the locals. Expect to wait 30 minutes or more for a table for dinner, if you do not have reservations. This place also seems to appeal strongly to those 60+ years old. Went here twice in the last month. The first time, the food was very mediocre, and service moved kind of slow. I tried their fish fry and it was very overcooked and lacked flavor. The baked potato was equally bland, and they would not substitute the coleslaw for anything else. The second time, I went with the chicken Alfredo. This dish was very, very packed with flavor. It was almost swimming in sauce. Could have came with more chicken for the price tag. The "garlic bread" appetizer was beyond disappointing. For an Italian joint, you'd think this place would place heavy pride in their garlic bread - and not serve tiny little bread pieces with melted cheese and little taste in the way of garlic. The worst part of the second visit - it took 2.5 hours, somehow, from sitting down to get out of there. It became excruciating how LONG the entire process took. We go here every year for our anniversary dinner it's been 42 years consecutively. We went again last night for our 42nd anniversary dinner and had an outstanding experience. The restaurant offers ample parking and easy access for those individuals with handicaps. The restaurant's always decorated for the current holiday season. It's especially beautiful during the Christmas and New Year holiday. At this time reservations are required! The restaurant is known for their Italian food and the menu offers enough choices to satisfy anyone's appetite. My wife usually gets the veal ala Fidele which is a breaded veal pattie along with a breaded eggplant Pattie with a side of rigatonis. I either get the linguine and white clam sauce or the veal parmesan. Both are outstanding. Last night we had an appetizer of fried calamari which was fantastic. Calamari was cooked to perfection. Red Fidele the original owner always comes around to the tables and greets folks and talks about the meals and their satisfaction when he's in the restaurant. This is a very welcomed touch, when having dinner at their establishment. It really makes you feel special and a part of the family. Their wine list isn't extensive but it offers something for everyone's tastes. I only wish they had more New York State wines on the list. We both had after dinner drinks and a dessert to go as an ending to a wonderful dinner. The restaurant also offers outdoor seating when the weather permits. read more

I really appreciated the abundant holiday decorations when we had a family dinner on 12/26 there. The bread was tasty, the staff were nice, and I really enjoyed the chicken parm. It was one of the best I have had in Rochester. The salad with crumbly blue cheese and house dressing was also tasty. I came here for my grandmas birthday and my family rented out the whole back room for the celebration. The space was set up very nicely with a table full of wines and coffee and a buffet line with a carving station. There were lots of options for food, including salad, bread, olives, fruit, pastas, chicken parm, eggplant parm and then the ribeye station. I tried everything and it was so delicious! Very very impressed with the service and quality of food. Everyone throughly enjoyed themselves and this was the perfect way to celebrate a milestone birthday. I give it only one star because of the ambush I got on my bill when we finished our meal! There was no mention of charging us to use our credit card. The charge was over $4.00.
