Definitely not as good as when it opened a few years ago. I was disappointed they no longer have the Mortedella sando, it as amazing. I asked if they had it ever again, just got a nope! Had the salad with the artichokes, it used to be delicious, this time it was mostly spinach and a bad oily dressing. It has now turned into a doughnut counter when you walk in at 2 pm on a Sunday. Very disappointed! Used to be one of our favorite local spots. We probably won't be back. The vibe is off now and no energy in the open kitchen like prior visits. read more

Solid place. You order at a counter and then grab the food yourself when it's ready. I had the creste di gallo with walnuts and fried sage. It was pretty good but definitely needed a protein source. My friend had the seafood diavolo which she enjoyed a lot. Olive oil cake was good. It seems they use really fresh ingredients which I love! They've got a lot of parking which is a plus. Obsessed is an understatement! Just what the neighborhood needed: a casual counter Italian spot with a good wine list and friendly staff. Wildflour clearly does an amazing takeout game but getting to eat in and catch up with a bestie was just what the doctor ordered on a hot Rochester day. I so enjoyed my gnocchi but after tasting a bite of my friend's bolognese, that's the route I would go next time I head to this spot. Cannot say enough about the kitchen staff and team. Everything on the menu is super fresh and the concept itself is excellent. Excited to return for takeout or dine in the next time I am in Rochester! This is my second visit but first time trying any food. It was worth coming back. You can do to-go orders or sit inside. The menu is just big enough and everything looked delicious. I settled on two items and a Mexican Coke.. cause why not. Basically you order, they take your name and call when it's ready. It may have taken less than fifteen minutes. If you can't finish anything you can ask for to-go boxes. The inside is clean and tidy light wood tables and chairs and whitewashed walls. Staff is pleasant and accommodating. This is what I got and I got the descriptions from their website. Farmer's Lettuce Salad artichokes, garlic breadcrumbs, condimento all'uovo, tarragon, lemon. I got the half order and it was a lot for me. It was refreshing and had plenty of salty umami without it being a salt bomb. The half order two people could enjoy it easily I took half of it home. I'd get it again. Than I got Meatball Cutlet pancetta, agrodolce, arugula, lemon mayo Now this was on house made focaccia it was lovely. It was not that's mut just right for the meatball cutlet. It was savory and a touch sweet and the lemon mayo tied it all together. I could eat both of these together or separately. This too I would get again., I'm glad North Winton Village has this and what's nice is I really think it's a hidden gem. Everything is house made a plus and you can also buy pasta and other things that they have available in the small pantry area. When you are done with your food you take your plate and utensils and put them in the proper places. Unfortunately the first time I came here I drove by it cause no signage. They do have one now which is a plus. Will I come back for sure. It was a little pricey for lunch but considering it was all was house made I was just fine with it. I am in love. Their focaccia bread topped with flakes of salt, an absolute perfection. The Italian sammich is great as well. Rotating desserts, I'm obsessed with everything we've gotten, from ice cream (chocolate sea salt, orange creamsicle, olive oil, etc.) to banana pudding. This place is outstanding and I'm so happy to have it in the N Winton neighborhood. They moved into the building that used to have Bay & Goodman pizza and there is ample parking. They serve pizza, pasta, and other Italian grocery and sides. I tried the rigatoni bolognese and focaccia to go and both were so delicious. The only thing that would have made the rigatoni better was some sharp freshly shaved parm (wouldn't be surprised if they sell some, I'll have to check next time). I only waited about 10 minutes for my food. They also have a seating area if you want to dine in. Loved the food here and I will be back regularly to try more! read more

The staff was welcoming, everything was very fresh, the flavors were on point, and our overall experience was great. We had the farmers salad, meatball cutlet sandwich, italian sandwich, and a slice of pepperoni pizza. The farmers salad was their take on a cesar salad, and everyone loved it. Both sandwiches were on delicious fresh bread and the toppings went perfectly together. The pizza was good too, however we though it was second to the sandwiches. Wildflour is another amazing, high-quality food purveyor, just like the rest of the 'related' restaurants in the group: Good Luck, Lucky's, Radio Social, etc. From the fresh ingredients to the artisanal-level craftsmanship, each item on the menu is both beautiful and delicious. AND, their fresh made and dried pastas are also fantastic. Now, full disclosure, I try to avoid gluten (though I am not celiac). But I make exceptions when I know the provider uses fresh and local grains, hand mills the grains, or takes extra care to ensure everything that goes into the food is FRESH (as opposed to coming out of boxes and bags that could have been sitting around for weeks, months or even 'shelf stable' years). Wildflour and Flour City Bakery in Public Market are the two gluten-based bakeries I trust when I'm feeling cravings, and so far I have not been disappointed. On my first visit, I went in to review the fresh pizza selection and every single one of their thick-crust pizzas is a true thing of beauty. It was hard to choose, but knowing my aim was to 'qualify the basics', I just went with plain cheese. The crust was delicious all on it's own, and the sauce and cheese both really good - not too greasy, not too salty, not too sweet - just a great balance. On my second visit, I decided to get a sandwich and pizza, so ordered the mortadella on focaccia with the ricotta salata, pistachio and orange mostarda, and a slice of the seasonal roasted mushroom pizza. Of the two I preferred the pizza, as the combo of pine nuts, arugula and pesto was savory and complex. The mortadella sandwich was OK - there was enough mortadella, the focaccia was great, but I didn't love the orange mostarda - for me it was just too sweet, almost like a marmalade - and the other ingredients (the ricotta salata is very mild, and the pistachio was not detectable) were not strong enough flavors to balance the sandwich. Nonetheless, I will be back to try the other sandwiches! Finally, during that second visit I noticed the fresh pastas, dried pastas and other grocery items on the shelves (olive oils, honeys) and in the cooler (olives, artichokes, etc), and so decided to make a trip back and stock up. I got some fresh gnocchi, which I cooked that night (they were delicious and a little tangy - possibly from the ricotta cheese), some fresh rigatoni (which we ate later that week), and some dried spaghetti and rotini both made with spelt flower. The fresh pastas can be frozen, or they last in the fridge for a week or so. When cooked, the texture of the fresh pasta is perfection, and they only take a few minutes to boil. I haven't cooked the dried pasta yet, but will report back to update this when I've eaten a few more sandwiches. Couple additional notes: the hours at Wildflour are limited as they close at 3 pm and are only open a few days a week. I was disappointed the first couple times I went, going on days they were closed or after closing hours...so much for being spontaneous! Also, there is a parking lot and some seating inside, though the days I visited, I observed a large number of to-go orders with constant traffic picking up orders or coming in, ordering and standing around waiting. This did not diminish my dining experience (I sat at a table and ate), but just worth noting as the atmosphere is almost 'fast food'. Also, at night, when they are closed, the lot doubles as parking for Lucky's which is right next door. read more

This place just opened up and is adorable. The smells when you enter the restaurant are just incredible. I ordered the Meatball cutlet and the Rigatoni Bolognese to go. The order took about ten minutes to come out. The meatball cutlet was incredible. The fresh focaccia bread was so delicious and soft (no roof of the mouth cuts here!) The rigatoni was perfectly Al dente. Unfortunately the sauce was so darn salty! Hopefully it was just a one off thing. I will definitely return to try the pizza next. Of all of the restaurants that I've eaten at in Rochester this year so far there is absolutely no question that my lunch today was the best bite I've had all year, hands down, by miles. In a single dining experience here on a lazy Sunday afternoon, Wildflour has immediately catapulted themselves to my top 5 restaurants in the entire city. Truly masterwork and a showcase of culinary genius executed in a building so unimposing you might even miss it, right on the corner of Browncroft and North Winton Road. Since this was a fairly new establishment for me I wanted to try more than 1 of their dishes for lunch, and so I ordered their meatball cutlet sammy and a slice of their rotating seasonal pizza. Both were unbelievably phenomenal. The meatball cutlet sammy was a flattened meatball patty, pane'd and shallow fried, served on top of rosemary focaccia with lemon aioli and arugula. All I can say about this sandwich is simply wow - what an explosion of flavors. The rosemary focaccia, housemade, was frankly insane. Incredibly full-bodied with flavor from the spelt used to make it, extremely soft and tender in its interior, and yet also brilliant crispy and bursting of rosemary and flaked sea salt scattered atop its surface. The lemon aioli was not just lemon zest mixed into store-bought mayonnaise as you'll find at so many restaurants in town, but a true aioli made from scratch with delicious lemon juice and the gentlest touch of sweetness to balance out the savoriness of the meatball patty and the light bitterness from the arugula. This was easily one of the best sandwiches I've ever had probably in my entire existence to date. The pizza too, my God, what an absolutely wonderful take in a city that's been bombarded with pizza restaurants on what feels like every corner. Really rather than calling what they serve a pizza, I'd sooner be tempted to call it a seasonal open-faced sandwich, or tartine in actuality. What you would classically think of as a pizza crust is not what you'll get here - instead seemingly you're getting something closer to a focaccia again much like the sandwich, but instead of having the crisp top, you're getting a load of flavorful ingredients masterfully placed on top. Roasted wild mushrooms (seemingly oyster?), herb puree, parm, and pine nuts all intermixed together? Heaven. So in short, if you're just reading the bottom of this review - please do yourself a favor and come to Wildflour for a visit! This is a restaurant unlike so many across all of Rochester, and one that I hope continues to last for years to come. If this restaurant were in any major city across the world, they would be thriving from San Francisco to New York to Lisbon to London. So please, come and thrive with them!
