South Ave has another charming establishment! I had wonderful dinners at Angelina's, I've been there twice now and am very impressed by the ambiance, wait staff, and most importantly the food! It's also well priced and very shareable I would highly recommend trying their specials, and their menu also updates some items frequently so making a return visit is highly encouraged I share everything with my table. The focaccia with dip was excellent, the sticky ribs is Korean inspired and delicious, the gnuddi were big, juicy and the pesto sauce was lovely. The other favorite item for me is the burger with friends! It's HUGE and it has some pork belly in there which provides that Asian flare. Finally their drinks are thoughtful and also Asian inspired. I recommend trying something new every time! I especially recommend the Banana Flip which was like a dessert itself and the Soju Martini is a good option if you've wanted to try a martini for the first time :) All in all so glad to have Angelina's as a local spot in South Ave!

Overall a very lovely experience, nice space with natural light, a mix of normal and high top tables, and very attentive staff. Busy plating with an attempt at high-end new American. Everything was tasty and cooked well, however it's hard to stand out against all the other new American restaurants in the area. There was also an over abundance of heavy creams and sauces that overpower the food quality.

Love this place for a date night, ambiance is cozy and romantic at the same time. Plenty of seating but would recommend reservations. When you walk in the bar is first with a couple seating spots, but move further into the building there is a dining room. Bathrooms are away from seating next to the bar which is a good location in my opinion. They change the menu up per season I believe so I experienced the winter one and was delicious. Got the arancini's for an app with a cocktail and the gnudi which is like gnocchi. This dish was very flavorful. Service was great and didn't feel like we waited long at all. Will return again

***4.5 Stars*** I was excited to learn about Angelinas in South Wedge, an area I have not visited lately and frankly needs a revival in terms of the food scene. Many small businesses have closed over the past few years pre- and post-Covid. Angelinas occupies the space where the Beale (and Toasted Bear Tavern?) used to be. The interior is casual and intimate. Classy but not too upscale. They also have an expansive bar that serves up decent cocktails. The food is excellent at Angelinas. A lot of dishes (appetizers and mains) are designed for sharing and are generously portioned. My wife and I shared the Castelvetrano olives, focaccia with feta and also the beet and radicchio salad. The olives were surprisingly sweet and paired well with the savory shaved pecorino cheese and acid from lemon juice. The focaccia was probably my favorite dish of the night, accompanied by a delicious bowl of warm cheese (mozzarella vs feta?), tomatoes and garlic. The salad was just okay, as the beet to radicchio ratio was off (too much radicchio and not enough beets). For our mains, we ordered the cavatelli and gnudi. Both very good. The cavatelli was served with a nicely balanced red vodka sauce that had just the right amount of spiciness from the chili flakes and richness from the cheese. The gnudi was also good, but very rich and buttery with their velouté white sauce. The gnudi themselves were very dense and filling. Again good for sharing as, I think anyone trying to eat 6 pieces themselves would be too much. As good as the food was, the service was just okay. We went on a Wednesday night, but it was still fairly busy. It took a little while for our orders to be taken and the waitress acknowledged the delay, but I think service could still be more prompt and friendlier. It could have been just an off night. We really enjoyed the food and drinks (5 stars), but I would only give the service and ambiance 4 stars. Definitely coming back though...

The cocktails are great, definitely some unique and fun drinks. Service was a bit out of sorts, but overall fine. The food was ok as well, nothing really stood out as particularly memorable. Really, the sound may keep me from coming back. It's super echoey and tables get louder and louder trying to cut over the sound of each other. A little bit of sound treatment would go a long way. I'd consider coming back for a cocktail alone, when I'm not trying to talk to a date.

This is a new favorite of mine!! We had the scallops (special), the short rib, and the focaccia with feta and roasted garlic and tomatoes. Every dish was spectacular!! The corn grits and caramelized onion was amazing with the short rib, the scallops were buttery soft, the focaccia was baked to perfection. The service was incredible and one of the owners even came out to say hello to us. 10/10, will be coming back!

Last minute reservation on a Saturday night. Not a lot of availability, but a 7:45 worked for us. Found the restaurant on Yelp, and we're always seeking good farm-to-table options locally. Server was on top of things as soon as soon as we sat down. Wife had the pear cocktail special that she loved, and I inquired about flavored vodkas. They didn't have any, but offered to make whatever I wanted. So I asked for a cucumber vodka/soda. They muddled up some cucumber and lime, which was solid. Overall the menu is small, but diverse for all palettes. We were told the menu rotates every six weeks or so, which is great to keep things fresh when you go back. We started with the Autumn squash to start, which has the right amount of maple sugar to make it sweet, but not overly done, which allowed you to taste the squash, pumpkin seeds and golden raisins. Perfect appetizer. Wife had the mussels, which had an amazing hint of curry. The focaccia bread, which was lightly toasted, was perfect for dipping in the broth. I had the gnudi, which was recommended by the server. I've had gnocchi, but never gnudi, which is similar, but made with ricotta, instead of potato. The dish was prepared with black garlic and shallots. It was absolutely delish, and rich. In hindsight, this one is probably better shared by the nature of its richness. The best part of the meal was a table visit by the owner. It's so appreciative to have a locally owned restaurant, with a hands on proprietor. He wanted genuine feedback and loved to tell his story. He was fully invested in the neighborhood and making his restaurant an experience, not just a meal. We commented how we felt like we were in another city, and he agreed this is one of their goals. Well done Angelinas. We'll be back - with friends!

A fun venue with an unusual menu, great cocktails, and a great bar in general. The food is unique, and imagine, well prepared, and generally delightful. Wonderful service, and always an interesting and satisfying time.

It feels like a hidden locals-only joint where you can grab a glass of your fave from a thoughtfully curated list of delicious options, and settle in with your better half, besties or a group of friends and just chill. We've been to Apogee a number of times before and 'after' covid, in colder months when we've been lucky to snag a window table, and in warmer times, like tonight, when we can sit outside and enjoy the flickering fireflies along with our sparkling rosè. Besides the pleasant atmosphere, Apogee has a beautifully appointed interior space, clean bathrooms, and a menu with cheese plates, cake, and more wines than you could taste in a summer. All of that plus super knowledgable 'bar tenders' (more like wine sommeliers) who can take your possibly clumsy description of what you think you want and offer up several perfect options, and you have the makings of a very pleasant evening. Book mark this place and plan to spend at least an hour enjoying an outside table!

As a special events venue, Apogee was flexible with outside food and also with decorations. There was no additional venue rental/site fee, just a minimum spend amount (which we were confident that we would exceed). The venue is cozy and intimate, but has high ceilings so it did not feel claustrophobic at all, even with 30+ guests at one point. I'm a wine snob myself, so I was a bit skeptical initially when I saw their wine list. Most of the wines they serve retail for $10-20. They do have some bottles that are more expensive (retail ~$30). However, after tasting some of their entry level wines (Ancient Peaks Zinfandel & Gouguenheim Malbec), my worries vanished. Everything I tasted was excellent and drank better than their actual price point. Steve was a great host. He was laid back, but still friendly and attentive to all of our guests. He made sure everybody's drink needs were satisfied. He was also flexible with letting us in the venue early to set up and also staying late to clean up. I also liked the fact that they allowed us to bring our own wine, for a $15 per bottle corkage fee, which is fair. Anyways, Apogee is a great venue for a small party. They are flexible and reasonable. I would definitely recommend them as a wine bar and for hosting a private event (especially on a Sunday).

The menu is different than other places, it goes from small to large plates and you order what you want and if you want more- keep ordering. My daughter got a flight of white wines and I got one of their beers, which was an interesting hazy IPA called Baby Kittens. Our waiter Philip was very knowledgeable on the wine selection and helped with the food order. We started out with the Flour City bread, which was toasted and had a dip of whipped ricotta with butternut squash - excellent! Next, we had the salt and pepper squid - their version of a fried calamari appetizer - also excellent with a nice little spice that snuck up on you a little bit. We followed that with the farm salad, which had a great cranberry vinaigrette. Then we had mussels which were over a jasmine rice that had a great sauce with it. The last dinner item we had was the butternut squash ravioli - so tasty! The table next to us got the fries, which was a huge mound of french fries with Parmesan cheese and I think something else on it. It was a lot of food. The waiter suggested their desserts, which was a choice of a huge slice of carrot cake or a skillet baked chocolate chip cookie or brownie topped with vanilla ice cream. We got the latter and it was excellent. The atmosphere was very subdued and great for a date or just a fun night out. I highly recommend visiting Carnegie Cellars!
