Capri restaurant no longer exists. If only we knew prior to seeing the rebrand (to a sports bar) posted on Instagram! They failed to notify those of us who had the restaurant reserved for our wedding rehearsal dinner. They ignored multiple attempts to reclaim our lost $500 deposit, ignored multiple email messages, calls, and Instagram DMs. I cannot recommend this place any less. If I could give 0 stars, I would! Believe it or not, this has nothing to do with the cob webs that were all over the place and questionable cleanliness when we went! I had booked my rehearsal dinner with Capri when they were a wine bar. Imagine my surprise when I randomly see on Instagram that they have completely rebranded and redesigned the restaurant to be a sports bar. Painted the interior black, changed the menu, even completed the space with some dart boards, a pool table, and beer decor. Not ONCE did they let me know about this change. I felt it was completely warranted that I get my $500 deposit back as this was far from the appropriate vibe for a rehearsal dinner and never was I even given the courtesy of letting me know their restaurant was changing. I have since reached out via email multiple times and left multiple voicemails without reply. I then messaged them on instagram asking for their contact, which they very promptly replied to because they weren't aware who I was. I confirmed the event coordinator was the same woman and email was the same. She has just been ignoring me. I then replied and told them to reply and asked they give me my deposit back and (shocker) they went MIA. Horrible business practices, I bet that if I didn't reach out to them and never saw about this change on Instagram, I would have showed up for my rehearsal dinner to discover this mess. Don't give them a cent of your money, they have plenty more than they deserve from holding my hundreds of dollars hostage :) read more

I went to Capri for dinner with a friend. The arancini were nice and crispy on the outside, but the rice was a tad overcooked and was mushy. The bolognese was very good, as was the truffle carbonara. The space is nice and everyone we interacted with was very friendly. I would go back again. read more

I highly recommend Capri for the food, service and ambience. Capri is nestled between the busy east ave shops. It's decorated with simple modern esthetics. The night we visited there was a birthday party going on in a side room which is a perfect small venue space for your events. There's a very small bar and next to that was a small room that displayed their wine beautifully. The staff was attentive and food arrived promptly. For apps we ordered the fish tacos and the artichokes. The fish tacos was a small plate but the tacos were huge! I'm not sure if the tacos originally comes in threes and the chef just split it into twos for our table of two, but the tacos were too big to eat comfortably. Despite the size, the taco itself was delicious. The tortilla was soft and chewy, the cod was light and its flavor still broke thru the many other elements of the taco. The harissa sauce was not too spicy but gave the taco a great kick. The artichokes was our favorite app. The batter was sooooo light and yummy. The artichoke was soft and the aioli was a great savory balance to the whole dish. Definitely a recommended dish for me. For entree I had the lamb shank and the bf had the pappardelle bolognese. My lamb shank was awesome! The lamb was tender but not in a mushy way. The outer part was almost jerky-ed but it was a nice kind of jerky. The meat is not too gamy and was so savory. The rice was a great blend of basmati and sweet raisins. It was seasoned so well and was not too salty. I loved the periodic crunch you get with the almond slivers. The bolognese was also delicious. I took a couple bites from the bf's plate and I usually only take 1 or two. The bolognese had such rich flavor and the whole dish was just delicious! I am very excited to come back to Capri! read more

I had a dish I don't normally order- pork tenderloin. It was served over this delicious butternut squash purée and was absolutely fabulous. My husband ordered a pasta Alfredo dish that was not particularly flavorful. The atmosphere was nice and service was great. We found this gem when we were walking in the neighborhood. The waitress was so nice. She checked on us often to make sure we have what we need. We tried fried shrimp, which was crispy and paired well with the sweet sauce. The fried artichoke heart was a little greasy but good seasoning. The salmon sandwich was good. I went to Capri with two of my friends at Saturday night. The waiters were all nice. We shared chicken cutlet and pork steak. The cutlet was amazingly juicy. For the steak, the sauce with surprisingly sweet apple flavor was really amazing. I had Italian coffee following the dishes, and it was really authentic. First of all, I went to this place twice. Friday by myself and Tuesday with my daughter. The steak on Friday was amazing and thats why I came back on Tuesday. To my disappointment, it was not the same steak and did not have the same flavor. I ordered medium and the steak was well done. I ordered the Tuesday special, grilled octopus, and it was extremely salty. I have to say that the waitress is very friendly, but she has yet to tell me her name. My daughter's ravioli was good at first taste, but after a few it became too salty. Although, the charcuterie board and barrata were simple but delicious. The lavendar creme brulee was creamy and good, but the sugar top was a little too thick for my liking. Despite the busy location, this restaurant never seems all that busy, probably because it's more expensive than most other East Ave restaurants. I was with a group for drinks/snacks, so just had the polenta parmesan small plate. It quite good--polenta was cooked appropriately (though not fried in a way to make it as "crispy" as promised), the tomato sauce tasted fresh, and the fresh mozzarella combined with each polenta rectangle had the perfect amount of chewiness and warmth. Very expensive for what it is (probably twice the price of any other restaurant nearby [except Max's] for a comparable amount of food?), but if you want to pay for the ambiance, then why not? read more

We had the best meal here last night! Everything was fresh and delicious! We started with the arancini, lightly fried artichokes, and caprese salad. Finishing up with the shrimp scampi special. Which came with perfectly cooked pasta and the perfect amount of sauce. The shrimp were also cooked perfectly. The staff was attentive and personable. We made a last minute reservation for our daughter's graduation and the restaurant was not only able to accommodate us, but after originally seating outside, they were accommodating enough to fit us inside (it was particularly noisy outside that evening). Although the wine selection isn't huge, there were enough options for everyone and the food was all delicious. Most impressive were the waitstaff, I wish I remembered our servers name, she was so attentive and pleasant, as were all of the others. Great experience and meal. read more

This place has a nice atmosphere, lounge music , attentive service, really great food, and really great desserts. Highly recommend the roasted beets with fried goat cheese and the squash blossom crostini, the Paparadelli, Bolognese was delicious, and the pistachio cream dessert was outstanding. We were very disappointed with our meal. First, to give credit where credit is due, the eggplant dish was fantastic as well the sauce for the bolognese. However, the bolognese was served with a ball of ice-cold burrata in the middle of the bowl (and rigatoni instead of pappardelle). If the burrata had been shredded around the dish and the top broiled, it would have been a fantastic dish. Cod croquettes were served at a tepid temperature (were they made ahead and reheated?) and generally lacked in flavor; the dipping sauce was very good though! The biggest fail was the chicken milanese--honestly not a tough dish to do right! The chicken was tough and the breading falling off. The "arugula and tomato salad" was a handful of undressed arugula thrown on the plate. I could go on to talk about other appetizers and dessert, but you get the idea--we were underwhelmed and I regretted choosing this restaurant for our dinner out with friends. read more
