This is a new concept for Rochester (I have a feeling it might be a chain?) Basically when you arrive you are asked if you have been before we said no, so see more info below from the website. Pours are 2oz,4oz and I believe 6 or 8 oz You scan your little card and you get to try different wines. To give you a better idea this is from the website "1. Start with your unique wine card Our self-pour system at Unwine'd starts with a simple scan of your SmartCard. Meet one of our friendly staff when you walk in, get set up, and you'll be trying your new favorite wine with minutes!" "2. Explore wine variety and selections Every day you'll have the opportunity to try something new! Our self-pour system features a rotating selection of over 40 wines to try before you buy. Don't know much about wine, no sweat, our unique technology allows you to try a sip or a taste to get your journey started off right." "3. Self-pour and enjoy the night! With our self-pour system you can spend less time worrying about what to drink and spend more time making your night the best one ever!" The inside is light and bright, it's not very big you can have groups here as we saw some people for events sitting at a table or six or eight people. Also they have a place where you can purchase wines and things. The wines are a mix of local FLX Wines, Old World & New World Wines. Also for friends who don't drink wine they have cider in cans. If you are interested in some bites/apps they have a limited menu of cheese and charcuterie & a tasty Hot Artichoke Dip. You will be given an order sheet, you mark what you want and bring it up front. Everyone was helpful and pleasant. My only issue is when you check out what do you do if you have a lot of people who wanna check out at the same time? The way you check out is pretty simple and when you do go in you need to give them a credit card. Basically this spot is by Tower280 or across from Branca. I wonder when the weather is nice if you can sit outside? The price point is reasonable and what's nice is you can try different wines without having to take a large pour. If you're in the area give it a go. It's a nice addition to the area. Parking is street, parking lots or the like. 4.5 out of 5

Had the best experience at Unwine'd on 1/26/24. Between the atmosphere Unwine'd offers, excellent service, and array of over 40 wines rotating on tap, this is the place to be. As a beer drinker sampling new wines I appreciated that each wine came with a card detailing it. The option to sample 2oz, 4oz, and 6oz was nice as I found which wines I was into. An added benefit is this business is family and owned and operated. Highly recommend coming for a girls night, celebration, date night, or just because. I can't wait to return!

Had a delightful ladies night at Unwine'd! The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and the decor charming. Upon entering & checking in, you'll receive an Unwine'd card in exchange for holding a credit card. Prices depend both on the size pour you choose, as well as the wine. If you have never had a "wine on tap" experience, I highly recommend it! (Road/plaza parking or in the garage)

Amazing atmosphere and staff. For time in a self pour restaurant. Would definitely go back for the charcuterie. Wine selections were perfect.

    Appetizers and wine!

I had booked my rehearsal dinner with Capri when they were a wine bar. Imagine my surprise when I randomly see on Instagram that they have completely rebranded and redesigned the restaurant to be a sports bar. Painted the interior black, changed the menu, even completed the space with some dart boards, a pool table, and beer decor. Not ONCE did they let me know about this change. I felt it was completely warranted that I get my $500 deposit back as this was far from the appropriate vibe for a rehearsal dinner and never was I even given the courtesy of letting me know their restaurant was changing. I have since reached out via email multiple times and left multiple voicemails without reply. I then messaged them on instagram asking for their contact, which they very promptly replied to because they weren't aware who I was. I confirmed the event coordinator was the same woman and email was the same. She has just been ignoring me. I then replied and told them to reply and asked they give me my deposit back and (shocker) they went MIA. Horrible business practices, I bet that if I didn't reach out to them and never saw about this change on Instagram, I would have showed up for my rehearsal dinner to discover this mess. Don't give them a cent of your money, they have plenty more than they deserve from holding my hundreds of dollars hostage :)

It feels like a hidden locals-only joint where you can grab a glass of your fave from a thoughtfully curated list of delicious options, and settle in with your better half, besties or a group of friends and just chill. We've been to Apogee a number of times before and 'after' covid, in colder months when we've been lucky to snag a window table, and in warmer times, like tonight, when we can sit outside and enjoy the flickering fireflies along with our sparkling rosè. Besides the pleasant atmosphere, Apogee has a beautifully appointed interior space, clean bathrooms, and a menu with cheese plates, cake, and more wines than you could taste in a summer. All of that plus super knowledgable 'bar tenders' (more like wine sommeliers) who can take your possibly clumsy description of what you think you want and offer up several perfect options, and you have the makings of a very pleasant evening. Book mark this place and plan to spend at least an hour enjoying an outside table!

As a special events venue, Apogee was flexible with outside food and also with decorations. There was no additional venue rental/site fee, just a minimum spend amount (which we were confident that we would exceed). The venue is cozy and intimate, but has high ceilings so it did not feel claustrophobic at all, even with 30+ guests at one point. I'm a wine snob myself, so I was a bit skeptical initially when I saw their wine list. Most of the wines they serve retail for $10-20. They do have some bottles that are more expensive (retail ~$30). However, after tasting some of their entry level wines (Ancient Peaks Zinfandel & Gouguenheim Malbec), my worries vanished. Everything I tasted was excellent and drank better than their actual price point. Steve was a great host. He was laid back, but still friendly and attentive to all of our guests. He made sure everybody's drink needs were satisfied. He was also flexible with letting us in the venue early to set up and also staying late to clean up. I also liked the fact that they allowed us to bring our own wine, for a $15 per bottle corkage fee, which is fair. Anyways, Apogee is a great venue for a small party. They are flexible and reasonable. I would definitely recommend them as a wine bar and for hosting a private event (especially on a Sunday).

The menu is different than other places, it goes from small to large plates and you order what you want and if you want more- keep ordering. My daughter got a flight of white wines and I got one of their beers, which was an interesting hazy IPA called Baby Kittens. Our waiter Philip was very knowledgeable on the wine selection and helped with the food order. We started out with the Flour City bread, which was toasted and had a dip of whipped ricotta with butternut squash - excellent! Next, we had the salt and pepper squid - their version of a fried calamari appetizer - also excellent with a nice little spice that snuck up on you a little bit. We followed that with the farm salad, which had a great cranberry vinaigrette. Then we had mussels which were over a jasmine rice that had a great sauce with it. The last dinner item we had was the butternut squash ravioli - so tasty! The table next to us got the fries, which was a huge mound of french fries with Parmesan cheese and I think something else on it. It was a lot of food. The waiter suggested their desserts, which was a choice of a huge slice of carrot cake or a skillet baked chocolate chip cookie or brownie topped with vanilla ice cream. We got the latter and it was excellent. The atmosphere was very subdued and great for a date or just a fun night out. I highly recommend visiting Carnegie Cellars!

Dan and I shared some wine flights with red wines from France, Canada, and Italy. They were all delicious. Then our awesome attentive waiter Richard told us we could order some small bites. They also gave us some high quality aged balsamic and baguette. There's a local chocolatier - so we had to get the few pieces to pair with the red wine (orange peal chocolate, sesame chocolate, and truffle) and all were a treat.
