Dr. Konstantin Frank Winery was one of the highlights of our Finger Lakes wine era (hands down!!). We came with a group and enjoyed a peaceful, relaxed tasting out on the patio with sweeping views of Keuka Lake. It's a stunning location, and the vibe felt elevated yet unpretentious. The 2023 Muscat Ottonel was my personal favorite - bright, lightly sweet, and super easy to sip. A perfect wine for summer. Beyond the wine itself, there's something special about visiting a place with this much history. Dr. Konstantin Frank is actually considered one of the most influential figures in American winemaking. He's the one who introduced vinifera grapes (like Riesling and Chardonnay) to the Eastern U.S. back when everyone thought they couldn't survive here. So this isn't just a winery - it's part of the legacy that helped put the Finger Lakes on the wine map. Great wines, great people, and an even better view. If you're in the area, this place is a must.

I took my mother to celebrate her birthday at the 1886 House adjacent to the primary tasting facility. Allen greeted us with the choice of two champagnes and we toured three separate portions of the vineyard. Allen provided so much knowledge about the grape varietals, the history of the growing technology and the Champagne program at the winery. After heading back to the 1886 house we took a trip to the upper patio for pictures with Keuka Lake as the backdrop. Next was a wine and food pairing provided by Lake Life. The tablescape was elegant adorned with Reidel stemware and fresh flowers. The dining room was filled with local art depicting the nature of Keuka Lake. We finished the tour in the lower level of the house with a hearty Port and dark chocolate pairing . I highly recommended booking one of the 1886 experiences.

I tagged along on a group tasting experience even though I don't drink, and I had a great time! The location was beautiful, so we had an amazing view during the tasting. Service was great! We were treated well and got to hear a bit of history about the winery as well as the selections we were offered. The charcuterie was wonderful. The combinations were very thoughtful and all options were delicious. My favorites were the Harpersfield Lapsang Suchong, Chardonnay butter, and the Rkatsiteli Hip Jam. All of the offerings were sold inside, along with other merchandise such as shirts and dog toys.

The service was amazing! The gentleman who executed our wine tasting was friendly, funny, and extremely knowledgeable! The atmosphere was welcoming, quaint, and perfect for a day out with my husband!

Took my husband to the Finger Lakes for his birthday. We were staying near Keuka Lake so we decided to stop here for wine and snacks. This place did not disappoint. The wine was very good, as was the cheese plate and flatbread we had. The views were also incredible and the grounds were lovely. Would definitely come back.

We had the most amazing sparking wine experience today with Lauren as our guide. We had no idea that Dr. Frank had sparkling wines and if you haven't tried them, they are a must!!! Lauren made the experience all that much better!

My fiancé and I really enjoyed our time here. The hostess was very friendly and inviting. We ordered a charcuterie board and wine and had the option to sit anywhere outside. The food was delicious as well as the wine. Very peaceful, quiet & relaxing. Would definitely recommend!

Easily the best winery we visited in the Finger Lakes! While it was a bit further away from where we were staying in Hector, Dr Frank's winery came so highly recommended to us by multiple people, we had to try it out. This was our first stop on our drive in from Philadelphia, so we didn't explore too much else around Hammondsport but definitely will need to on our next visit. We made reservations for tasting in advance, but since we arrived a bit earlier, we hung out in Eugenia's Garden (it had just opened for the season) and enjoyed a glass of wine there. Our server was helpful in recommending us a wine that would not be featured on our tasting later in the afternoon - the sav blanc was perfect for the warm day. The Garden was lovely, with lots of seating underneath a canopy but also some more exposed seating (including a gazebo area, where we sat); in addition to wine, they also serve some food and other drinks, so a great variety (we just stuck to wine). When it was time for our tasting, we were seated in the covered front patio and met our wonderful server. She beautifully walked us through each wine, providing us helpful background and tasting notes for each one but also giving us space and time to enjoy each sip while forming our own opinions. All the wines were so crisp and clean and quite memorable. The tasting focused on whites, and my personal favorite was the rose (surprisingly not sweet and actually a bit tart and incredibly easy to drink), but every one was fantastic. We shared with her that we were celebrating our 2nd wedding anniversary, and she brought over an extra tasting and a cheesecake for us to share which was so thoughtful. She truly was passionate about what she did, and she made our experience truly stellar. Dr. Frank's tasting room was a 10/10 experience. The servers are so kind and have passion for their work, and we appreciated being walked through each wine (not the same case for other wineries we visited). The space is beautiful, particularly the garden, and the wine is top notch. For only $15, we tried some spectacular wines that spanned a number of varietals, and the price point for bottles for home was incredibly reasonable (~$20-30ish). I highly recommend Dr. Frank to anyone visiting the Finger Lakes - we cannot wait to revisit!

We visited this beautifully situated winery one afternoon while on vacation choosing to forego the tasting. Instead we bought a pair of bottles, a 2023 semi-dry Riesling and a 2023 Gewurztraminer. Though we enjoyed both, the Riesling was considered by each of us to be better.

If you visit a single winery while in the finger lakes it should be this one. Not only was the service top notch, but it's the absolute best view there is and the wines are actually so good. You have a lot of good experiences while in this area, but this place is stunning, well staffed and has good wine. I beg you, please make this a stop while in the area. We did the the traditional tasting, added a charcuterie which they did and excellent job of explaining what went with what and it did, and then we even enjoyed our favorite wine on their stunning patio. All around an excellent experience

Such a pretty place, this! They have two kinds of seatings - one is with reservation (15 pp) where you get guided tastings (I believe tasting $$ are based on what you order) The other one (that we took) was self service and you seat yourself (FCFS) in what they call Eugenia's garden. It's really amazing, the vibe. It's right overlooking the lake and tbh they don't impose a time limit on how long you can be there. You can order some food (choice between a charcuterie board and a flatbread platter). They have a large selection of wines to choose from. Highly recommend this place if you're in the region :)

This was our first visit to this winery. We traveled 90 minutes to get there and it was worth the trip. The views of keuka lake are spectacular on the drive! Although the winery was crowded on Labor Day weekend, we were able to get right up to the bar out back. We Each did a tasting of three wines. The pours were 2 ounces and the server described each one before we took them to a picnic table. They were all excellent wines that we will purchase in the future.

It was beautiful and I enjoyed meeting new people. Ravines wine is also the best I have had on Seneca Lake. Dryer and more robust. Can't wait to come back!

Wasn't sure if I should post this under Ravines Wine Cellar or under the Ravinous Kitchen, so this…read morereview might be making appearances in both.... My husband and I have been to Ravines Wine Cellars several times since 'discovering them' during a special farm-to-table dinner and wine pairing at Good Luck a few years back. That night we enjoyed a 5-course meal and each course was paired with a different wine. It was the first time we ever experienced drinking finger lakes wines that we really enjoyed and could see ourselves buying for private consumption! Shortly after that, we made the trip out to the wine cellar in Geneva to do a tasting. On our first trip, we did the wine and cheese tasting - loved everything and went home with a bottle of Meritage. On the second trip, we did the wine and chocolate tasting (which features chocolates from Hedonist) and came home with a bottle of the Vignoles. Fast forward another couple of years and we took advantage of a holiday event which featured food pairing tastings from Brown Hound Bistro at the Ravines location in Hammondsport. We left with several bottles of wine for holiday gifts. Every experience was great, with friendly and knowledgeable people, enjoyable atmospheres and yummy goodness. Most recently, I was lucky to attend a special dinner at the Ravinous Kitchen as part of a company event. There were 12 of us for a 6-course meal on a Sunday evening (usually they are closed at this time). Included was a tour of the winery and wine cellar, with time spent with the owner and the head chef. It was amazing. The chef prepared really, really delicious dishes for each wine: --We started with glasses of their 2009 sparkling Brut Rose which was delicious. Paired with a bacon puff and served with herbed crème fresh, this was a lovely little bite. --Next, while we were in the cellar, we were served a parsnip bisque with caramelized cheese. We ate that while tasting their 'new' 2015 Meritage right out of the barrel. It was cool in the cellar and the bisque and wine was a perfect little warm up. --First of the 'mains' was a large serving of local Lively Run chevre, with a side of kale and some pomegranate drizzle, served with their 2015 dry Riesling. They also gave each of us a fresh baked roll, and mine was gluten free - the most perfect gluten free roll I've ever had - truly crusty and 'French-bread-like'. I could have died happy after eating this course. --Second 'main' was a stuffed squash with some kind of spinach or creamed green inside. This was doused in brown butter and served with a smear of red miso. The dish was served with their 2013 Pinot Noir. Holy deliciousness. Unlike any squash dish I've ever had, this was definitely the table favorite. Super savory and umami, great depth. Super yum. --Final 'main' was braised beef short rib served with shaved brussels sprouts and a mushroom 'cream' made by roasting a medley of mushrooms and pureeing them with cream. This dish was served with au jus and the 2013 Maximilian red. A rich, delicious combination. I have to admit at this point I was over the top stuffed, but even so, when the chef brought out extra servings of the short ribs, I forced myself to have a bit more. The au jus was delicious and the meat was totally fall-apart tender. So good. --For dessert, we were served a butterscotch 'risotto' - basically a rice pudding with white chocolate, apricots and toasted oats. This was served with the Vignoles. Take a bite and a swig and swirl them in your mouth - flavor explosion! I really love the Vignoles. Even those at the table who are not fans of dessert wines/ports/ice wines drank every drop! (Too bad because I was offering to finish whatever anyone wasn't going to drink, but no takers....) Ravines is definitely at the tippy top of my list of favorite wineries and experiences in the finger lakes. And with all the new awesome eateries in Geneva and the focus on making the little college town a foodie destination, I highly recommend you join the Ravinous club, rent an Airbnb and go there to spend a weekend of eating, drinking and merriment!
