Stop #3 of our wine tour on a Sunday. Felt like a more upscale place. I had made reservations for a tasting a week in advance mainly spitballing what kind of a timeframe we would be on. It would figure that they don't take as long and we were about an hour ahead of schedule. They allowed us to go earlier than our booked time which was nice. We tried several wines - Riesling and others and left with a couple bottles. Overall I liked it. The design of the place was cool, with indoor and outdoor seating.

It's easy to see why this place made the Top 100 Wineries list of 2023 - the space is elegant, peaceful, and full of Finger Lakes magic. They've shifted from custom flights to a set tasting lineup, which during our visit included Flower Day, HJW Vineyard Riesling, Dry Rosé, and Cabernet Franc. Thanks to the very chill and helpful staff guy, we got to sneak in the HJW Bio Riesling too - and I'm so glad we did. That one ended up being my favorite: bright, expressive, and super well-balanced! Gf loved the Flower Day Riesling, while the 2022 Cabernet Franc was easy to sip and rounded out the tasting beautifully. Also (important detail!!), there's a cat, and it made the whole experience feel that much more majestic and magical. 5/5.

Hermann Wiemer has one of the best wineries on lake Seneca in my opinion. They consistently make a beautiful Riesling among other options. We came in a Saturday in the fall and had reservations for a tasting. Victor was informative and warm. He helped us decide on our tasting flight. Very beautiful winery and fantastic service. The product is also top notch.

Pretty good and cheap tasting experience. Staff was really nice and the interior was very open and clean. Their wines were definitely interesting and different than what I've tried before.

One of the must stops if you are doing wineries in the Finger Lakes (FL). This gent put FL wines and specifically Rieslings. Huge operation. You may need reservations. Tastings and some small snacks available. And of course the wine shop. Enjoy!

We enjoyed this unique tasting experience with excellent views of their vineyard. We chose 5 to start and were generously given a couple extra to compare different vintages and vineyard. We were able to bring some food which we needed after all this wine! Our server was attentive and very knowledgeable. We enjoyed learning about the history of the Lemberger grape. Our favorite ended up being the 2023 rose- we took a bottle home with us!

This was our first winery we stopped at on a Saturday celebrating my birthday. The ambiance is traditional farm style and was decorated for Fall with many pumpkins, gourds, and topiary. The gentleman that took care of us was friendly, very informative, and curated our wine tastings to our preferred palate. No other winery we stopped at was so personal, pours were generous and the wines smooth and ranged from semi dry to dry with our tasting. They do not offer pairings with food or any charcuterie boards that we saw. This definitely topped the list for best tasting of our afternoon!

My friend brought me here for a private tasting for my birthday. It was held in the library I believe (I think some of the vineyards around here still want a reservation thanks covid they are keeping it, some you can still roll in but check if possible) The place is really nice, I get the feeling they did an update and it's light and bright and airy. When you walk in it's all warm woods and tables and huge metal vessels for the wines. We saw some people having a tasting here and they have tables and etc. The other room we were I what light and bright. The light coming in was glorious. We were given a glass of wine that was gratis a nice touch. I believe the tasting is for four 2.5 pours and they have other pours as well. I don't know the cost off hand but check the website. You can mix and match what you want to try. So I got some white and a Pinot. Everything I tried was either stellar or something I'd need to try again. Our guide today was warm & knowledgeable and casual. Just an fyi they have a sister vineyard called Standing Stone (I believe it's called) and they make good wines as well. I enjoyed my visit here. I bought a bottle of the Field White (white table wine) and the Pinot Noir 4.5/5 a gem of a place They have parking

My recent visit to Hermann J. Wiemer Winery in the Finger Lakes was an absolute delight. From the moment I stepped onto the property, I was captivated by the stunning scenery and the inviting atmosphere. The tasting room itself is warm and welcoming, and the staff were incredibly knowledgeable and hospitable. But the true star of the show was, of course, the wine. Their Rieslings are simply exceptional. I was blown away by the complexity and balance of each varietal, showcasing the unique terroir of the Finger Lakes region. I truly believe they produce some of the finest Rieslings in the area. Whether you're a seasoned wine enthusiast or simply looking to explore the beauty of the Finger Lakes, a visit to Hermann J. Wiemer Winery is an absolute must. You can see a video about this winery here so you know what to expect if you get to visit: https://youtu.be/rRkZ6lOF4cY?si=s_0D_yeJYOwrCFgy

This was one of our favorite experiences while visiting the finger lakes. The inside of the facility is really nice, and it was a nice day when we visited so we actually got to sit outside near some of their stainless steel barrels. The wine were all fabulous, and our server was so sweet and informative. They didn't mind that we had our own snacks during the tasting. I learned a lot of the area and their wines during this tasting. They offer a cool concept as well, where you can buy single tastings or larger pours to share, which saves a little money and is fun to go through the tasting with your group. Our server wanted to share another wine with us and brought us that for free! You can also buy wine by the glass or bottle as well. I highly recommend this awesome spot!

Excellent wines, a beautiful setting and very knowledgeable staff made for a great visit. We sat among the steel tanks and enjoyed our flight of wine while we chatted with the server and another visiting couple. A great visit.

Beautiful location! A girls weekend in the off-season in the Finger Lakes and this amazing spot was 500 feet from our house! We opted for the self-guided wine tasting on the side of the building overlooking the vineyard. We enjoyed the dry Rieslings. Would recommend if you have had lots of wine tastings and would like to pick a couple and enjoy and talk amongst your group. (Our only concern- The gnats! We were there in an unseasonably warm day in November, so the temperature could have caused the issue. I'm sure it's not all the time)

We were fortunate to have Keith as our…read moreserver, and he may have been one of the most remarkable people I've met in quite some time. His deep knowledge and passion shone through as he shared the rich history of the winery. The owners originally purchased land in Bucks County for farming but later moved to the Finger Lakes region, where they expanded into winemaking, a bakery, and a deli--a true craft-driven endeavor. Tabora was offering a special deal: buy one tasting flight, get the second free. Normally, I gravitate toward the drier the better, but the Winemaker's Jam caught my eye. My flight included: 1. 2021 Pinot Noir 2. 2021 Cabernet Franc 3. N.V. Heritage Noir 4. 2021 Maréchal Foch I started with the Pinot Noir, a light-bodied wine with aromas of cherry blossoms, strawberries, and dried fruit--absolutely sensational. Keith explained that all of Tabora's wines age in used French oak barrels but never for more than 18 months. Instead of prolonged oak aging, they transition the wine to stainless steel, preserving freshness while imparting just a touch of oak influence. Next up was the Cabernet Franc, which had soft tannins, a light body, and notes of raspberry and green bell pepper, with a slight oak finish--and wow, it was good. Then came my hands-down favorite: the Heritage Noir, a blend of different wines that was dry yet bursting with layered fruit flavors. It was truly an incredible experience on the palate. Finally, I sampled the Maréchal Foch, a sensational, jammy wine with hints of blackberry and pomegranate and a beautifully smooth finish. But Keith wasn't done yet--he had me try a few more, including an unoaked Cabernet Franc, which became another favorite. Aged 100% in stainless steel, it was bright with red fruit, hints of cherry, vanilla, and a touch of chocolate on the finish. Beyond the wines, Keith himself was a standout. As we sipped, he shared his life journey--from New York to Hawaii, a path shaped by his mother and sister. His stories were captivating, and if he ever writes a book, I'd be the first in line to read it. Cheers to Keith and Tabora for an unforgettable experience! #fingerlakes

We did not have a reservation, but easily found ourselves a spot at the bar. It was a pretty rainy and crummy day, but even though a few other couples had the same idea as us to hit a winery to avoid the rain, we did not feel crowded in the space at all. The winery is certainly one of the most well decorated spots we visited. They really lean into the barnstormer and plane vibes, with appropriate decor in every facet of the interior. It was very tastefully done and gave the winery a certain fun and unique vibe. We were seated at the bar for our tasting. The bar was quite large, holding a number of different couples but giving us all adequate space to spread out, have a few glasses in front of us, and not cloud the others' conversations. You could chose from a few different preselected tastings, and I opted for a mixed red and white tasting while my husband opted for the all red tasting. My husband enjoyed all of his, particularly liking the merlot. I enjoyed the whites in my tasting more than the red (I had a weird after taste from one of them which tainted the red experience for me), favoring the chardonnay of all things (I am not a chard gal). We appreciated how our server engaged with us, telling us a bit about each wine but also navigating hte entire bar without lingering too long in one place. She answered our many questions about the wine, being knowledgable but also approachable. We had a great time and enjoyed our wines. Barnstormer was a great rec from our various servers etc while in the Finger Lakes - while the wines themselves may not be at my top, the vibe and service did stand out. That being said, we did take a bottle home with us, so I'm looking forward to enjoying that on a special occasion!

It can be confusing for those looking for one or the other! But with some searching, we ultimately found the location we were looking for. We stopped on a pretty overcast and rainy day, and we found ourselves to be the only ones in the tasting room. The room is large indoors and with ample seating on the patio outside for nicer days. The interior features a lot of wood themes with low tables as well as bar seating / standing for the actual tastings. Lots of open space, so it would be conducive to a group of folks or even a party! Upon arrival, we decided to do a tasting. We did a tasting with the only employee on the ground, who we learned is the daughter of the owner and brother to Nathan K. She was really lovely to talk with (loved chatting about city vs FLX life and the food scene in all parts of NY and PA with her), but she didn't provide the *most* detail and explanation for each of our wines. We had a nice time chatting with our server, and we were happy that Nathan K himself walked through the room during our tasting so we could introduce Nathan K to Nathan K! We wound up leaving with a bottle of Cab Franc, which was one of our faves from the tasting and of course, bore the Nathan K label, which my husband adored.
