The exterior of Lamoreaux is in desperate need of TLC! First impressions are important! Once inside the winery you forget that the outside is in need of work. The beautiful tasting room, friendly, informed and informative staff create a wonderful experience for guests. There are beautiful views of vineyards and Lake Seneca from inside the tasting room as well as a small deck off a private room. There are too many wines to list, but you receive a complimentary tasting of wine (the wine may change based on vintage and stock), then you get 4 additional tastings from their wine list. They have several vineyards with differing terroirs and too many varietals to list. At least nine of their wines have earned 90+ points. Their 2020 vintage of 76 West is a gold medalist in the New York Wine Classic! Like most wineries they off a wine club and discounts for its members.

After coming to the Finger Lakes for almost 20 years I am always impressed by the amazing experience at Lamoreaux. This, like many other wineries is just a beautiful place to sit and lookout over the lake. It is peaceful, scenic and of course accompanied by great wine. The winery is right off the main road and there is plenty of parking, unfortunately now that is not an issue. My wife and I had a reservation and we're beautifully welcomed as we arrived. The check in process was perfect. Their COVID protocols were perfect. We were escorted to our social distanced table with our mask on and once we sat down we were told they could be removed. The tent setup and the way the wines were selected and delivered were just perfect. The level of safety here was great. I asked our guide through the process if she liked the way this was going and gave me a two thumbs up. This process really works well and makes for a very orderly and comfortable experience. Personally, I think this process should continue. We made our selections from their very extensive wine menu. I am not going to go through each wine but I will say that they're all spot on. They have always been. The winemaker, Aaron Roisen truly creates a wonderful product. Make sure you try an Ice Wine. It was this particular wine that brought us here in the first place. My favorites wines are the Rieslings and Cab Franc. BUT... that's my preference, not yours. Try what you can and enjoy the experience. Make sure you schedule Lamoreaux on your next visit. Sit back, relax and enjoy the wine and views.

This winery is beautiful and the staff was very friendly and super knowledgeable about the wine. We stopped in without a reservation just after opening at 10am and they seated us at the bar for tasting. It was a great experience and the views from the tasting room were amazing.

A dog friendly winery with a beautiful view over looking Seneca Lake. Lamoreaux Landing has some wonderful wines that are very reasonably priced. Reservations are recommended, but not required and they have both indoor and outdoor seating, however they primarily use outdoor when the weather allows. The view overlooking Seneca lake is fantastic and worth the stop, but definitely enjoy some of their wines, you won't be disappointed.

Gorgeous view from small terrace outside tasting room. Two tasting rooms; when we visited, the one with the better view was being used for groups that made a reservation. Gorgeous view from the small terrace outside the tasting room, but there was only enough seating for maybe 8 people. I bought a bottle of the 2018 Riesling Ice dessert wine because I love sweet wines and it is very sweet. I also tasted the 2017 Gewurztraminer and the 2017 Vidal Ice. I liked the Gewurztraminer even a little more than the Vidal Ice. Both were sweet but also a little tart. I would recommend both wines. This is a popular winery for tastings. There was a wait for a tasting even on a Thursday afternoon. Gorgeous building with beautifully landscaped path from parking lot to entrance.

Lamoreaux Landing is certainly top tier when it comes to wineries in NY's Finger Lakes region! Their vineyard is beautiful, especially at sunset, and their tasting room building is bright, open, and has many windows that showcase the great scenery outdoors. But the wine...oh the vino...its really special! Their Riesling is their showcase feature by far as they have numerous different types. Their dry & Round Rock are very good year after year! I cant get out of the place without at least spending $200 in purchases. Their wine keeps well in my home cellar for at least two years. My last visit really struck me as I bought a bottle of their 2010 76 West wine which was immaculate as its Cabernet Franc grape shown through brilliantly! It was definitely worth the price of $45 for a special wine!

Moments after arriving he introduced himself by telling us how tremendously educated he is regarding wine. He told us he was an author and an expert on the region and much much more. And no doubt he is and provided a lot of facts and interesting anecdotes. But welcoming he wasn't, quite the opposite. He introduced the tasting experience by telling us that we would be able to taste five wines. I chose most of the ones he recommended but not all of them and commented that I was sure he'd let me taste the 6th if I wanted as every other place certainly does that. Not john, John was insulted that I didn't leverage his brilliance. Not only did I not get a sixth to taste, but the pours I got were half of everybody else's. A wine host should be friendly and accommodating and do everything they can to help you enjoy the experience, and recommend it to others, and come back, and purchase wine. Because of John's pompous attitude he failed on every one of those. We will not be back.

Turns out it was their first day open for the 2026 season and they had a tasting spot open for their first tasting, so we got lucky on both accounts. Tastings are offered "on the hour" in the afternoons during business hours and I highly recommend making a reservation. This is the type of tasting where you sit, savor, and listen to the presentations on each wine. No rushing customers through, no large groups, and the employees do a great job of connecting with their customers. Shalestone is a small family run boutique style winery that only does red wine. The wine and the atmosphere reminds me of our favorite boutique winery in the Napa Valley. I believe we tasted 7 wines, all of which had their own specific profile and nuances. Too often at other wineries the reds all taste the same, but not at Shalestone. While we purchased a variety of their wines, our favorite is their Syrah! Absolutely delicious with all characteristics one would want in this full bodied red. I highly recommend making a visit to Shalestone when in the Finger Lakes if you want to enjoy mouth watering red wines.

As our last day of visiting wineries along Seneca Lake unfolded, we found ourselves reflecting on…read morehow much the region is evolving. Earlier in the day, when we were at Penguin Bay, our server Sharon had shared some fascinating updates about wineries in the area changing hands. One of the biggest surprises? Bagley Winery, one of the oldest wineries along Seneca Lake, which had been operating since 1980, had sold their 40-acre farm in Hector. We had visited Bagley Winery in the past, but at the time, the wines just weren't quite to our liking--a reminder that every harvest is different, and winemaking is always evolving. But as we were driving to our next stop, we suddenly spotted the sign and had a moment of realization: "Hold on, that used to be Bagley's. Let's stop!" That spontaneous decision turned out to be one of the best surprises of the trip. Exploring the New Offerings Walking into the tasting room, there was an immediate sense of something fresh and different. While the space felt familiar, the wines had taken on a completely new personality under the new ownership. Instead of diving straight into full pours, we sampled a small tasting of different wines to get a feel for their style and direction before deciding on what we wanted. Here's what they had to offer: White & Rosé Wines 1 2023 Sunny Side White Blend - Bright and lively, featuring notes of tangerine, apricot, and grapefruit. 2 2023 Grace Riesling - A classic Finger Lakes Riesling with flavors of red apple, lime, and bright acidity. 3 2023 Viva Riesling - An intriguing take on Riesling, infused with ginger, lavender, and lime zest for a more aromatic and complex profile. 4 2023 Chardonnay - Pear, floral, and mineral-driven, offering a beautiful balance between fruit and structure. 5 2023 Rosé of Cabernet Franc - Fresh and vibrant, with flavors of strawberries and a medium body that made for an easy-drinking, summer-friendly wine. Red Wines 6 2023 Cabernet Franc - Classic red cherry, raspberry, and cedar notes, capturing the signature earthy and fruit-forward character of Finger Lakes Cabernet Franc. 7 2023 Sunny Side Red Blend - A soft yet structured blend with red plum, cigar box, and soft tannins, offering depth and an incredibly smooth finish. Sparkling Wines & Pet-Nat 8 2023 Pet-Nat - A naturally sparkling wine that was fresh, fizzy, and bursting with crisp apple flavors. 9 N/V Sparkling Chardonnay - A slightly sweeter sparkling option with notes of pear, vanilla, and a creamy mouthfeel. What Stood Out & What We Took Home As we worked through the tasting, we were really impressed. The wines were refreshing, crisp, and perfectly dry--just the way we like them. Each one felt thoughtfully crafted, capturing the best qualities of the grapes while maintaining a clean, balanced profile. While all the wines were well-made and enjoyable, one in particular stood out: 2023 Sunny Side Red Blend - This was my absolute favorite, with its rich red plum notes, subtle spice from the cigar box aroma, and velvety-soft tannins. It had that perfect combination of depth and drinkability, making it a wine I knew I wanted to open and enjoy at home. So, naturally, we purchased a bottle to go! A Deeper Connection to Their Story After the visit, I took some time to read more about the new owners--and I was truly impressed with how quickly they got the winery up and running with their own lineup of wines. Ria and Michael, the new owners, bring a wealth of experience and industry knowledge, which was evident in the quality of the wines. One fun personal discovery? Ria and I actually have something in common! She teaches Viticulture and Enology, while I teach Computer Science--very different fields, yet we both share a deep appreciation for winemaking. I've always had a passion for enology, so it was great to learn about someone who is both an educator and deeply involved in the winemaking world. Final Thoughts - A Winery Worth Revisiting This stop turned out to be a terrific experience, and I'm already looking forward to coming back in the warmer months. I'd love to see how the winery continues to evolve under its new ownership, and of course, enjoy another glass of Sunny Side Red Blend while sitting outside, soaking in the lake views. If you're visiting Seneca Lake, make sure to stop here--especially if you love dry, crisp wines with fresh, balanced flavors. It's exciting to see a historic property get a fresh new start, and based on what we tasted, the future is looking very bright for this winery. Cheers to unexpected stops and discovering something new!

His deep knowledge and passion shone through as he shared the rich history of the winery. The owners originally purchased land in Bucks County for farming but later moved to the Finger Lakes region, where they expanded into winemaking, a bakery, and a deli--a true craft-driven endeavor. Tabora was offering a special deal: buy one tasting flight, get the second free. Normally, I gravitate toward the drier the better, but the Winemaker's Jam caught my eye. My flight included: 1. 2021 Pinot Noir 2. 2021 Cabernet Franc 3. N.V. Heritage Noir 4. 2021 Maréchal Foch I started with the Pinot Noir, a light-bodied wine with aromas of cherry blossoms, strawberries, and dried fruit--absolutely sensational. Keith explained that all of Tabora's wines age in used French oak barrels but never for more than 18 months. Instead of prolonged oak aging, they transition the wine to stainless steel, preserving freshness while imparting just a touch of oak influence. Next up was the Cabernet Franc, which had soft tannins, a light body, and notes of raspberry and green bell pepper, with a slight oak finish--and wow, it was good. Then came my hands-down favorite: the Heritage Noir, a blend of different wines that was dry yet bursting with layered fruit flavors. It was truly an incredible experience on the palate. Finally, I sampled the Maréchal Foch, a sensational, jammy wine with hints of blackberry and pomegranate and a beautifully smooth finish. But Keith wasn't done yet--he had me try a few more, including an unoaked Cabernet Franc, which became another favorite. Aged 100% in stainless steel, it was bright with red fruit, hints of cherry, vanilla, and a touch of chocolate on the finish. Beyond the wines, Keith himself was a standout. As we sipped, he shared his life journey--from New York to Hawaii, a path shaped by his mother and sister. His stories were captivating, and if he ever writes a book, I'd be the first in line to read it. Cheers to Keith and Tabora for an unforgettable experience! #fingerlakes
