The exterior of Lamoreaux is in desperate need of TLC! First impressions are important! Once inside the winery you forget that the outside is in need of work. The beautiful tasting room, friendly, informed and informative staff create a wonderful experience for guests. There are beautiful views of vineyards and Lake Seneca from inside the tasting room as well as a small deck off a private room. There are too many wines to list, but you receive a complimentary tasting of wine (the wine may change based on vintage and stock), then you get 4 additional tastings from their wine list. They have several vineyards with differing terroirs and too many varietals to list. At least nine of their wines have earned 90+ points. Their 2020 vintage of 76 West is a gold medalist in the New York Wine Classic! Like most wineries they off a wine club and discounts for its members. read more

came here on a tuesday afternoon around 4pm with my friends. they had 4 for $12 tasting (only at the bar at the time)-a bit pricier than other places but you're here for the atmosphere. the view and venue is absolutely gorgeous (can totally see weddings being held here). the staff are welcoming but a bit standoff-ish in my opinion (you can tell that they have their favorites because i feel like depending on who they were talking with/pouring for, the vibe was different-along w/ the pour). regardless this was a much calmer tasting, felt more 'elegant' than your typical winery so if that is the type of pace you want (rather than bouncing from one wine to another to another) this is definitely the place to go. i loved their moscato and ice wine selection. can easily spend an hour here. they had $3 off one wine if you did the tasting so i got the moscato for $15 instead of $18 which i thought wasn't a bad price as they priced it $10/glass read more

This winery makes amongst the highest quality, if not the highest quality wines in the finger lakes. There are others that also make excellent wines but Lamoreaux Landing wines have been consistently excellent since there opening in the early 90's. They really rocketed to fame in around '97 when they won double Gold for their chardonnay in San Francisco. Their wines are well made and never turn yellow within a normal life expectancy. There best Rieslings are on par with the better rieslings from Bernkastle Germany, there sparkling wines on par with Cremants and Champagnes and their chardonnay, Gruner veltliner and reds /rose are light and refreshing. Don't come here if you're looking for sweet wine. read more

After coming to the Finger Lakes for almost 20 years I am always impressed by the amazing experience at Lamoreaux. This, like many other wineries is just a beautiful place to sit and lookout over the lake. It is peaceful, scenic and of course accompanied by great wine. The winery is right off the main road and there is plenty of parking, unfortunately now that is not an issue. My wife and I had a reservation and we're beautifully welcomed as we arrived. The check in process was perfect. Their COVID protocols were perfect. We were escorted to our social distanced table with our mask on and once we sat down we were told they could be removed. The tent setup and the way the wines were selected and delivered were just perfect. The level of safety here was great. I asked our guide through the process if she liked the way this was going and gave me a two thumbs up. This process really works well and makes for a very orderly and comfortable experience. Personally, I think this process should continue. We made our selections from their very extensive wine menu. I am not going to go through each wine but I will say that they're all spot on. They have always been. The winemaker, Aaron Roisen truly creates a wonderful product. Make sure you try an Ice Wine. It was this particular wine that brought us here in the first place. My favorites wines are the Rieslings and Cab Franc. BUT... that's my preference, not yours. Try what you can and enjoy the experience. Make sure you schedule Lamoreaux on your next visit. We had a beautiful tasting outside here. This winery is doing a great job with covid protocols. All tastings are currently outside. The wine host had us set our glasses on the barrel at the end of the table for filling and tables were well spaced. For $15 we received 4 samples of our choice, plus a welcome semi dry Riesling. Riesling is definitely the star grape varietal here in my opinion. We tried the Gruner Veltliner which was above average. The Unoaked Chardonnay was a bit one note to me. The Dry Gewurtztraminer was exceptional for those who enjoy the dry floral complexity of a great Gewurtztraminer. The Rieslings were really great, especially the single vineyard. My favorites were the Round Rock Riesling as the number 1. The second choice was the red oak. The yellow dog was also very good. Honestly, I don't think you could go wrong with any of the Rieslings here. The only thing that was disappointing was the sparkling, but maybe it just wasn't our style. It was 100% Chard and unlike any of the other bubblies we had in the area. It had a lot of lees contact which gave it an aroma that I was not fond of. Our hosts Jenna and Margo were awesome. Reservations are recommended, but not required and they have both indoor and outdoor seating, however they primarily use outdoor when the weather allows. I bought a bottle of the 2018 Riesling Ice dessert wine because I love sweet wines and it is very sweet. I also tasted the 2017 Gewurztraminer and the 2017 Vidal Ice. I liked the Gewurztraminer even a little more than the Vidal Ice. Both were sweet but also a little tart. I would recommend both wines. This is a popular winery for tastings. Lamoreaux Landing is certainly top tier when it comes to wineries in NY's Finger Lakes region! Their vineyard is beautiful, especially at sunset, and their tasting room building is bright, open, and has many windows that showcase the great scenery outdoors. But the wine...oh the vino...its really special! Their Riesling is their showcase feature by far as they have numerous different types. Their dry & Round Rock are very good year after year! I cant get out of the place without at least spending $200 in purchases. Their wine keeps well in my home cellar for at least two years. My last visit really struck me as I bought a bottle of their 2010 76 West wine which was immaculate as its Cabernet Franc grape shown through brilliantly! One of my good friends who lives in the Ithaca area recommended this winery as one of her favorites for both the views and the quality of the wines. I made a reservation by calling as they do not take reservations online. Although I called and left a message after hours, someone promptly called me back the next morning to confirm the reservation and take my CC information over the phone and was very personable and pleasant. When we arrived at the winery, the set up was a little confusing as they appear to be really limiting access to the indoor areas due to COVID. There were some wine barrels set up at the end of the parking lot with a rope hanging between them and a note to wait for service, but there was no one around. I walked around a big tent and just went up to someone and asked how to check in for my reservation as we were running close to our reservation time. This person was very nice and seated me quickly at one of the tables in the outdoor tent where they are doing all the tastings now due to COVID. Unfortunately, the absolutely beautiful space they have inside is not available for tastings or anything else (except to pass through on your way to the bathroom, very clean btw). The view is indeed nice and it was good to be in a shaded tent as temps were close to 90 degrees, but the shade of the tent also detracted from the view and made it impossible to take decent photos inside the tent. We also could not picnic in the tent as that was considered the tasting area and not part of the grounds, according to them. They said they'd normally let us picnic outside at their picnic tables but we were not interested in sitting in the direct sun of the picnic tables with 90 degree heat. They did concede that we could have some small snacks, but we didn't really feel comfortable breaking out our sandwiches and cheese spread. The wines for the tasting are served individually instead of in flights and our server was rather slow as she was serving several tables. Although other servers appeared to be not very busy and no one stepped into help serve the wines. Especially given the lackluster view situation due to the tent, we wanted to be on our way to other wineries in the area, but had to linger for awhile between each wine. As for the wines, they were very good. I especially enjoyed the Vidal ice wine and purchased some bottles. There is a $3 discount on bottles per paid tasting, which was a nice and unexpected bonus discovery. I will definitely come back here as the experience overall was nice, but I would wait to return when the full tasting room is open and one is better able to enjoy the view from their elevated main building. Most recently visited Lamoreaux Landing Wine Cellars as part of the Deck The Halls 2016 event. This was actually where my tour event started, and I was reminded what a delightful space Lamoreaux Landing is. The tasting room is nice and open, with cathedral ceilings and large windows. Generally, I enjoy a good Riesling...and I was delighted to be able to sample their 2014 Semi-Dry Riesling at the Deck The Halls tasting. Additionally, they had a Estate Red Cuvée, 2015 Unoaked Cabernet Franc, and a 2014 Grüner Veltliner available. I'm pickier with sampling reds, given they can give me migraines, but the two on the sampling menu for the day were enjoyable (from what I could tell with my teeny-tiny sip). Perhaps not especially unique, but enjoyable (side note: I have also had a Chardonnay from here in the past and did really enjoy it, so be sure to enjoy a nice variety during your visit). The prices for the wines also appear to be reasonable. The staff here has always, in my experience, been welcoming, organized, and knowledgeable. Also, the view of the lake from the winery adds a real sense of relaxation to the experience. I'm sure I'll be back again. read more

Lamoreaux really surprised me. Honestly, the finger lakes really surprised me. There are some REALLY good wines here! And it's not just Rieslings or Ice wine. I'm personally not a fan of a sugar bomb in my drinks and it takes a really good dry Riesling to win me over. Lamoreaux won me over. Not only because I think they have the best view of the lakes but their wines are fantastic! I would suggest trying their more rarer wines instead of the regular tastings because you will find some gems. It was my boyfriends birthday so we got a free drink that I honestly thought was champagne. It wasn't. We had their 2009 Brut with is about half Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. This wine had so many tones that champagne has like almonds and vanilla that we were surprised to learn it was Chard and Pinot. We bought a bottle on the spot after trying it. This wine would pair perfectly with any celebration or dinner. Lamoreaux was actually the place we bought the most bottles of wine. We wanted to get at most 2 bottles of wine from each place to get a good variety because trust me the amount of places we visited 2 bottles is enough to lug back into the city. We bought 5 bottles I think from Lamoreaux. Their estate red cuvee was delicious and we ended up pairing that with a paella we made but I think the wine is a great casual drink. Their chardonnay was also pretty good. I love chardonnay but usually Russian River or Sonoma Chard's. Lamoreaux chardonnay I thought was on par with Californias. I bought their 2014 Chardonnay and also their reserve Chardonnay. A lot of their wines actually get sold out pretty quickly. With some of their wines they really make small batches so it's really limited. I kinda of wish I bought more than I did. Be sure to sign up for their mailing list! read more

The view of the lake from the tasting room was beautiful, and was made even better because they were dog friendly. I thoroughly enjoyed all the wines we got in the tasting and got ourselves a bottle of the Semi-Dry which was our favorite. The last piece I have to say is that our waiter (or server, never sure what their official title is) was very knowledgeable and spoke with us about where all their vines were planted for each wine and showed us maps of where they were too. We didn't have a reservation, but they allowed us to sit at the bar for a glass but not a tasting - though everyone else at the bar was tasting. We bought cheese from a fridge but told we had to eat it on a paper towel - no napkins or dishes - just paper towels? We asked someone else and she brought us a tray. The wineries along Seneca Lake in the Finger Lakes are all drastically different. This one I would put at the top of the list for best ambiance.... It's housed in a gorgeous barn type building with extremely high ceilings and stunning views of the lake. We visited in fall when it was especially gorgeous out back! Tastings were very inexpensive, informative and you could tell the employees really cared about the wines. We visited mid week, mid day and had the entire place to ourselves. We tasted the Gewurztraminer, a dry Riesling and a sparkling which we appreciated being an option in the tasting as they usually aren't. We really loved their brut! It was crisp and dry but still smooth, just the way we like our champs. We purchased quite a few bottles including their easy drinking Red Estate we chose to put away as our annual anniversary wine purchase and their Riesling Ice which has wine several awards. It's notably higher pricier for a much thinner bottle, but a tiny bit goes a long way. It's a very sweet dessert wine and won't be for everyone. We thought the idea of ice wine which is what this is and what's indigenous to this region was something we wanted to bring home to share with family because it's so rare and unique. It's definitely a bottle I would recommend purchasing here because it's one of the only wineries to carry ice wine. Overall, we had a great time here. Awesome views and a few gems! read more

This is one of the best wineries on the east side of Seneca. The tasting area is pretty free of decor and gift shop items, just wine for purchase. You get six tastes for $5 and $3 can be taken off if you buy a bottle. Make a reservation for eight or more people though. They do have a tasting room on the side and will open if it gets crowded. I like the staff and we're treated well when there. The person who took care of us had her husband there working too and was fun and thought she was awesome! I enjoy dry wine and recommend: 2016 Dry Rose, Cab Franc and most dry Rieslings. I went before Thanksgiving and just recently. Both experiences were great. read more

Excellent!! This was the only vineyard we went to with guided tastings and it was one of the most distant as well! The check in was easy and we went to our designated table where there was a barrel to put our wine glasses after we were done with each tasting of wine. As soon as our glasses were on the barrel, the person doing our tasting would come over for the next glass. We were always distant which makes it save for both the employees and the guests. All of the whites I tried were very enjoyable. If I were living locally, I would have bought bottles of the Gewürztraminer, the Grüner, and the Riesling. I was also a fan of the unoaked Chardonnay. Our pourer was both friendly and very informative. He kept us entertained with funny anecdotes, wine puns, and generous pours. Being used to California wine country prices, $4 for 6 wines per tasting is an amazing deal, especially when the wine is so good. The Finger Lakes region was surprisingly beautiful, so no complaints at all on the scenery. When I come back to the Finger Lakes region, I'll make a note of stopping at Lamoreaux Landing once again. This space has a lovely open tasting room with high ceilings and cathedral windows. You get six tastings for $4. Again we were on the prowl for tasty reds, but also sampled a few whites since there were some award winners among them. I'd say it's more of a solid 3.5 in my book. Overall, the reds I tried weren't out of this world, rather the Gewurtztraminer and the Riesling were my preferred pours! I did enjoy the cab franc, but that's typical of my visits to FLX wineries so I'd say this is what you'd expect from this area. Nothing unique or unusual stood out, but that's ok -- they have their shining stars on their wine list for sure. I also felt like the tasting experience wasn't super engaging. I would have loved to talk more with her about pairings and the history of the winery, but she wasn't giving us much to work with. It was a busy day so perhaps that's why. The view is wonderful so spend a little time on their small balcony. This would be a good spot to stop on a wine tour with friends where you're going to actually savor the wine -- the staff is quick, they have space, and you get your tasting in. Then enjoy a brief moment of relaxation before hopping back on the road. read more
