When my brother-in-law sent me a photo of Hickory Hollow's bottles, we had to stop! They have a line of "Nathan K" wines, and since my husband is Nathan K, we immediately made this part of our trip to FLX. The winery is slightly confusing because it is named Hickory Hollow as the Yelp page suggests, but they serve Nathan K wines in addition to Hickory Hollow wines. It can be confusing for those looking for one or the other! But with some searching, we ultimately found the location we were looking for. We stopped on a pretty overcast and rainy day, and we found ourselves to be the only ones in the tasting room. The room is large indoors and with ample seating on the patio outside for nicer days. The interior features a lot of wood themes with low tables as well as bar seating / standing for the actual tastings. Lots of open space, so it would be conducive to a group of folks or even a party! Upon arrival, we decided to do a tasting. We did a tasting with the only employee on the ground, who we learned is the daughter of the owner and brother to Nathan K. She was really lovely to talk with (loved chatting about city vs FLX life and the food scene in all parts of NY and PA with her), but she didn't provide the *most* detail and explanation for each of our wines. No big deal, but having a server or sommelier walk us through our tasting is our preference to really make the experience shine. The wine was solid - not our favorite that we went to, but their reds definitely stood out from the rest. We had a nice time chatting with our server, and we were happy that Nathan K himself walked through the room during our tasting so we could introduce Nathan K to Nathan K! We wound up leaving with a bottle of Cab Franc, which was one of our faves from the tasting and of course, bore the Nathan K label, which my husband adored. I would definitely like to make it back and enjoy the outdoor area with a more informed wine tasting in the future! But thank you for indulging my husband with his own labeled wine! read more

This was most definitely an outstanding tasting experience. Don't be fooled by the simplicity of The Tasting Room. Jenny took care of us and started us with their incredible sparkling wine as we moved forward through the rieslings and Chardonnay grapes. All were excellent. We then tried a few Cabernet Franc ones that were also quite excellent. This is a first-class tasting experience along with excellent wines from the Finger Lakes Region make sure you don't miss this gem, 1 of the best, top of the food chain! read more

This place was a little surprise a little jewel box of a tasting room. The wines which are now blended by Nathan K or the owners son are some you should seriously try. He's trained at the best of the best and it shows. The family owned this place with a group but as time went on they went their separate ways and the family kept it for themselves but needed a winemaker and they would have one in their son. Mom and dad were there and Mom did our tasting. She was lovely and warm and we talked about a lot of wines and how things evolved. The wines are perfectly nuanced and for a serious wine drinker you can appreciate them. Wonderful winery and great customer service. This winery is a true gem and not pretentious or snobby. We had a wonderful tasting experience and bought several wines from them. Interesting winery, one of many stops we made... this place didn't require a reservation... big plus since a few others in the area were all booked up for the day. The place is small, walking in there's a small tasting area with a gift shop ( really just a few items spread out to buy) We had the place all to ourselves, only one lady working so she greeted us and sat us outside for a tasting. The patio was nice but a lot of bees were out... and it took awhile to get through the wines since the lady had to keep going on and out to get wines and answer the phone. Overall nothing special here and nothing really stood out. Lady was nice. read more

I think it's going to get even better. My previous visit may be 3 years ago left me wishing better from the wines we bought and we haven't been there since but have visited the winery since Nathan Kendall is set to take over wine making there. We visited there specifically for his signature line but I am sure we will stop by again in a year or 2 just to see where his passion and experience has taken the winery. Hickory Hollow had some great Rose and enjoyable staff, we were glad we stopped here on a Sunday afternoon before heading out of town. Their tasting room was cute and there were nice views of Seneca lake but nothing in terms of a back porch or deck to walk out onto and sit with some wine. There was nobody in this place at the time we were in here, which was awesome because we had it to ourselves and were able to make small talk with the people working, which is one of our favorite things about bouncing around from vineyard to vineyard. We drank through seven or so wines and there were many we enjoyed and took home with us. Highly recommend their Rose, believe there were two on their list, one was straight Pinot Noir and the color was insane. Definitely worth a stop. read more

This is a great little winery located on Seneca Lake. It's a bit smaller than some of there other well known wineries in the area, but the wines that I tasted here are top notch. Specifically, I recommend trying anything and everything made with Nathan K. Apparently, he's a local wine maker and is very well known throughout the Fingerlakes. His dry rosé is the best rosé I've had. Aside from his wines, Hickory Hollow also makes a fantastic Cabernet Franc that I couldn't help but take some home with me. This has been a staple in our yearly trips to the Finger Lakes. The wines are all pretty solid although they may be a little too sweet if you are looking for dryer wines. The place is small and quaint but laid out well with super friendly staff every time we have been here. The price is unbeatable on the lake and they are also putting out some new wines that we were pleasantly surprised with! If you are on Seneca lake make sure you stop by! read more

Tried to do a wine tasting for a birthday celebration. We were a group of 8 and due to COVID-19 restrictions only 4 people can be in a group. We politely offered to split into two groups and immediately the man hostilely responded with a no and told us to leave. Additionally, he told us there was a reservation at 11AM and it was only 10:15 AM, so there wasn't enough time. I've been to plenty of wineries around the Seneca wine trail and I've never had a wine tasting last 45 minutes. As we were leaving, another group pulled up and the man gave them no issues. I will not be back and would not recommend. Terrible terrible customer service. read more

One of the more established locations on Seneca Lake (lesson learned----the older the winery, the lower the prices). As the case with most wineries along this trail, they had ample sweets, but a few stand out drys: a dry Riesling from their sister vineyard (Highland Cellars) was my favorite. I had come to the Finger Lakes to acquire multiple bottles of pinot noir, but the trip turned out to be a dry Riesling buying blitz. The tasting room has a view of the lake - this is not a very large place, so it probably gets tight when it's busy. But it's a good reliable winery with fine prices and something for every palate. read more
