First off- dress warmly! I've been here twice and both times I had wished for a coat and blanket! Second- seating can be very close to other tables which can make conversation difficult as there's fairly loud music playing, and then if the other table is right next to you having loud conversation, it can be difficult to talk to your own table Food - not bad, but the pizza was tiny. Look at the picture of the person's hands next to the pizza for a better reference point. Calamari salad had very little in the way of salad, mostly a pile of calamari Steak salad looked good, but I didn't taste it Staff was not super attentive, had to wait for water to be refilled a while and once food was served, they didn't really check back to see if you needed anything else. We needed a last minute dinner on the patio during graduation weekend, and ROAM really came through. The patio was very nice, with a larger number of tables than most park ave restaurants. Visited ROAM cafe with 3 other friends. We were there by 5:30 and it was a perfect time to dine in. We were seated right away and our server was very polite and attentive. She let us know the specials and when we asked her opinion she was able to share it. The restaurant isn't very big but it didn't feel crowded or noisy. We were able to have conversations without the struggle of noise. We decided to get the crispy artichokes as an appetizer. They were out of this world! I feel like this is a place for boozy brunch--not a place where you go when you want to be "wow-ed" with excellent food. I had the eggs benny, which was about average. A bit on the bland side, but not horrible. They do have $3 mimosas which I think is their best selling point. For this reason, as well as its location, I do think it tends to attract a younger crowd. We had about a 30 minute wait for a group of 6 on a Sunday afternoon with no reservation, which was pretty good. read more

This was my second time at ROAM, again with family, and I can absolutely say that this is a great place to bring folks from out of town, where conversation can be kept flowing easily. They capture the spirit of Rochester's local food scene: eclectic, unique, and filling. The service was good, if a little brusque, but our drinks were kept full and anything we needed was brought. We shared a Peanut Butter Cup Martini among us, and it was balanced and positively delicious. The chicken Parmesan sandwich was a little dense, and beware the ROAM pizza's spice levels (the pepperoni has a big kick!), but the duck wings had, in my dad's words, "definite duck flavor," and were covered with a sweet and spicy glaze. All in all, ROAM remains a reasonably-priced, consistent restaurant in the heart of Park that hasn't disappointed me yet. read more

Want to start this by saying we went to both ROAM and the classic (across the street and I believe owned by the same people?) on the same day and had very different experiences, so I'll probably write a review for the classic as well. For Roam we went for brunch, at noon, and we'd called ahead that morning and made a reservation. The host was very nice and we were sat immediately. The mimosas were also good, and the fruit yogurt parfait was very tasty and big. The pizzas were just okay, fairly heavy and bready for the price. The biggest issue we had was the service, which was Very slow, and the waitress even had a little bit of attitude with us at the end after not checking in very much. It was an okay experience but not great and given how many places do a good brunch nearby we probably wouldn't be back. read more

Only one of my lettuce chunks were grilled, which I'm not sure if both were but either way it tasted good. The service was quick and the servers were friendly and accommodating. I love going here! The winter months tends to be drafty in the establishment. But the food is GREAT and the proportions are large, however, there can be some inconsistencies with the ingredients/portions from my experience. The waitresses are so kind and attentive as well. I never learned the name of my bartender but this person was a definite rock star and made some of the best and refreshing dry drinks I have ever had. As for my salmon, besides being a generous portion that had been cooked perfectly, the flavors made me swoon. The balance of flavors on the plate was simply amazing and only added to one phenomenal dining experience. Second time coming here and thoroughly impressed AGAIN! This time I popped in for a quick lunch before brining my friend to the Airport. We were sat at the window at my request because i wanted to watch my car which was parked a little close, but not at all blocking the fire hydrant out front. The owner "Drew" introduced himself, and assured me it would be fine, then asked if he could take my keys and personally valet park my car which he did. He said he just wanted us to relax and enjoy our meal without any worrying. We sure did! Thank you Drew! Our waiter was amazing and I wish I could recall his name. We left him a 30% tip on the after tip amount as a result. The menu was outstanding! We had the prime rib sandwich which we split, with the Garlic Parm Fries as our side pick. We also ordered the Crispy Artichoke appetizer with the Cajun dip (I had it last time and it haunted me). Wow, so YUMMY, all of it!!! I will definitely be back. I honestly can't recall the last time I felt so at home, relaxed, and comfortable like I was a special guest like this before. Calling this one: "I still dream about this pesto chicken" I came here with a friend one evening for dinner. We had been before but not for some time so I wanted to check it out again. The staff was eh, but the food was great. we ordered the fried artichokes for an app and I got the pesto and chicken for dinner which really was the star of the show. Best chicken pesto dish I've ever had. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the pesto cream sauce was outstanding. I can't recall what my friend got but I remember him saying it was really good as well. I'd have likely given this a 5 star review if the fried artichoke app was a bit better and if the staff was friendlier. The artichokes were a bit over done making them kind of mushy and it felt like the dipping sauce was missing something. As for the staff, they weren't all out rude but they also weren't friendly. A bit more of a welcoming vibe i think would go a long way in complimenting the already great entrees. We will be back! read more

Very tasty. We happened to hit the Brunch menu on Sunday, and it was quite good. Bloody Mary order to your spiciness. Friendly staff. We did see an odd "transition" between brunch and dinner where a couple guests left because they had quit serving Brunch but weren't going to take dinner orders yet. Kinda like the kitchen closed down, maybe to prep or something? Just seemed odd to have a "we are not serving right now" period instead of being able to move smoothly from one to the other. We tried ROAM on Park Ave. for lunch today. There were so many interesting things to try that we got a bunch of stuff to split. The Tomato Artichoke Soup was heavenly to each start with. We then shared Arancini in the most delicious blush sauce; Fried Artichokes which were super light with crispy leaves; and finally a Calamari Salad with avocado and tomatoes. The fry on everything was impeccable -- crisp exterior, not greasy at all, and perfectly seasoned. Service was also friendly and attentive. We will definitely return. I had a really nice time at roam cafe! I would suggest making a reservation as it gets quite busy especially on the weekends (the Sunday special is $2 mimosas!). They do have both outdoor and indoor seating for whatever your preference is. The menu items were on the more limited side but I still think there was a decent variety that could fit most people's taste. The portion sizes for the food were on the larger size but the prices were also a little higher so they matched what I would expect! I personally got the smothered Chicken with the garlic parm fries and cucumber and tomato salad and I was overall pretty happy with my meal. The one negative that I had was that my fries didn't really have a strong garlic parm flavor and were a little greasy. The chicken and salad were very nice and fresh! I also go the Samosa which was on the stronger side and a little more tart as it's made with grapefruit juice. My friends got the gnocchi and calamari salad and both said they were very good and flavorful. My friend did note that the gnocchi was a little heavy with all the cream and cheese. Visited this restaurant with my daughte for mother's dayr. Mainly because they have an outside sitting area and dogs are allowed, so we could bring our puppy. The environment was casual/clean. Everything we ordered was delicious, fresh and worth the price. Their drinks are wonderful (specially the martinis). They lost one star because the waitress was too busy and didn't check on us/they forgot the mashed potatoes/they brought the soup and entrée at the same time. 3.5 stars total. Came here with a large group on a weekend evening. Plenty of seating to accommodate us. The one thing that was very unsavory when we first walked in was the smell. For some reason, it smelled like wet seafood (though it was raining that day so maybe it wasn't the fault of the restaurant). We were seated quickly and the menu is very varied (something for everyone, even our vegan friends). Things are a little pricey here though for a cafe ($15 per personal pizza, $20 for pasta). Good selection of drinks overall. I had a sip of the sangria which was tasty. Otherwise tried the white pizza and the pesto chicken. Both dishes were very heavy/very filling. I thought the pesto chicken pasta was just alright and the pizza would have been better after a long night out. I did appreciate that there was something for everyone on the menu though. Looked up and back down. A few minutes later she came by, said one word, with a frown, brought us outside and then walked away for 5 without another word. Fellow yelper Jen O introduced me to this place on Park Ave. Great location, wonderful staff that knows how to take care of you. The place is a little small but cozy. We sat at the bar with a few other people- nice mix of locals and newbies. Everyone joined in with lot's of group conversations. Great variety of drinks available, I went with a southern tier IPA, ice cold. We didn't try any food, so I will have to be back to check that out. We were actually originally trying to get brunch at mad hatter, but the wait was kind of insane, and we ended up having a lovely chat with the bartender and decided to stay at Rome instead. I'm going to come out and say that the menu was somewhat lackluster, but the execution was pretty good, the service is awesome, and the atmosphere is really quite lovely whether you are sitting inside at a more intimate table setting or outside on the sidewalk cafe setup or the patio around the side. Rare for me to dole out a four or five star review if I don't think the food is great, so let me say that I think it has a lot of potential! The eggs benedict was quite respectable. The breakfast pizza was perhaps dubious. It was a lot of cheese and egg on the rare side for my taste, but didn't really feel like it was quite where we wanted it to be. I enjoyed my cinnamon French toast, but again, if you are going to provide any sort of topping for it, you could opt for something like whipped cream or real maple syrup, but instead they opted for the corn syrup fake stuff. Coffee was good but was a little bit cold. Again, I think this place is putting in the work, it just needs a little more oomph to take it over the top for the five-star rating I think it can easily manage! read more
