    Seared Salmon Risotto

The food was very fresh and tasty. Delicious, not a single complaint about my meal. Weather was warm and the doors were opened- it was a beautiful day, However the service was terrible. I sat at the bar earlier this evening and ordered my meal - with an appetizer. The appetizer came out with my main course and I was seated at the bar. I didn't wanna occupy any tables in case it got busy.. three bartenders on and my food was delivered both at the same time, one plate was set in front of what would be the person next to me and one to the left of myself. I wasn't asked if I needed anything else or a refill on a beverage. I ate my meal and finished it and 12 minutes later. I was still waiting on somebody to check back for they never did one single time with three bartenders on and maybe five patrons sitting at the bar. After 12 minutes of sitting with my food in front of me, I was able to grab somebody else and ask her if I could obtain a container for the rest of my meal to bring home. Couldn't even rely on my bartenders/server or the other two behind the bar.. after I packed up my meal I had packed up my meal I had to ask for my check. I gave him cash left a tip and went on my merry way. Excellent food, but I definitely wouldn't go back there again.

The porkchop w grits. The most amazing meal EVER. I have Never in my life ordered porkchops at a resturant but I choose this because of the grits. Chefs kiss. Don't miss out.

Went with a couple girlfriends to celebrate my belated birthday. Waitress sat us in our own private room which was perfect for a party of 7. Waiters were attentive, drinks and food came out in decent time. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinners. Not pictured were salads that we shared and the burrata panzanella which was a great starter. After dinner we decided to go sit at the bar area which was pretty big. All in all, it was a great night. Ambiance was perfect and food was delish. Would love to return when it's a little nicer out and we can sit outside.

Cocktail was good, vibe was cool. We had the Burrata and the bread was so stale we couldn't eat it. Didn't like the texture of the hot cheese, my mistake for assuming it was served cold. The Tostones were just OK, good texture and the meat topping was good but over all flavor was very lacking. Had no idea there were specials until they read them to a table near us half hour later.

This is a great contemporary space with a large center bar surrounded by tables, booths and high top tables. I love the decor, soft lighting and music. The menu is what piqued my interest. I love how the chef uses plantains in the menu. You can tell I'm a fan. The tostones with braised beef - great idea. The braised pork with plantain gnocchi- genius. We enjoyed our meal. Our sever was nice and helpful. We were able to park on the street but had to walk two blocks - not a big deal. We will definitely return when we are back in town.

My wife and daughter and I went to dinner at Native. I have had dinner and lunch there before but I wanted a nicer restaurant to take my NYC daughter out to- so she could get a taste of downtown nowadays. She remarked that it was an "industrial and comfy" vibe there. (We sat on one of the 1/2 booths). The ladies had wine and I had a beer- they have a nice selection of both - and I could tell that they can craft a mean cocktail from that large and cool looking bar! We started with 2 apps- tostones and a candies squash salad- both were fantastic. My wife ordered the Red Pizza with pepperoni, daughter had Beet Risotto and I had the Pork Shank. We all enjoyed our meal. I took half of that tower of pig home for lunch the next day! We needed sharing some chocolate mousse for dessert and just hanging out enjoying the space. It is cool and comfy! Our server- sorry I forgot her name!- was attentive, knowledgeable and funny. Perfect night out- I looked like a hero for taking them out here. And we will definitely be back!

Native is awesome! Their cocktails are fantastic, first of all. I definitely will need to try some of the different ones they have next time. They had one of my all-time favorite appetizers - whipped feta! So delicious! And the food was amazing too! An amazing atmosphere - they open the walls up on nice days - and amazing food! Great service too! Such fantastic employees. I can't wait to go back to try more!

Upscale place right when you enter the Welcome to Rochester sign straight down on Clinton avenue. For its fancy and beautiful exterior, their food combinations were puzzling. What started out as an exciting promising new American menu, became an at loss for what to order when I scrutinized their menu better. Our table ordered a pretty large spread. Unfortunately, everyone's food came out at different times; almost 30 mins apart. The host was super nice and got us a better table so we could see each other. Their salads had too big of pieces, pizzas slightly underwhelming, and drinks slightly confusing with taste not matching name. However, they did well with their meats and crab cakes. So, I would recommend going with a meat dish at this place. Salad- 2 of us ordered a prosciutto salad that came on a bed of arugala. The peppery greens was a little strange with their baked cheddar cheese. I feel parmesan would have been a better choice with this. The prosciutto was large slabs of ham which made this dish difficult to eat. I recommend smaller chunks so that one is not stuffing a whole slice with accompanying oily arugula into the mouth. An ok salad; but it was not quite harmonious. Apple slices could have been smaller too; overall presentation of this salad was "how am I going to mix/fit into my mouth. " The cold halved potatoes were very strange. Crab cakes- A good one. It was indeed a crab cake and not a cake crab. One of their stronger dishes. I would highly recommend- soft and good flavoring. Vegetable pizza; needed a unifying flavor. This pizza was slightly bland. It was vegetables on a piece of dough- perhaps a sauce/cheese/something was forgotten on top to unify this whole dish together. It's a good choice for someone on a low sodium diet though. Their meat options were good- soft and tender with good flavoring. I would recommend calling on a meat dish if you're coming here Drinks: I heard the bachelor and SWV were good. The pineapple express tasted like a campfire; everyone thought it would be a bright pineapple sunny taste but it wound up being smoky. Staff was good and attentive. Food wasn't as impressive as I would have wanted. They had good stuff but they also had stuff that was slightly disappointing. We still thank this place for a good evening and we enjoyed our time here.

Asked for medium burger, it was RAW! BBQ chicken pizza tasted like straight curry and no pineapple came on it as it states on the menu. Dine elsewhere and you won't regret it.

Never again will I sleep on Native! I had a really lovely experience here celebrating my Sister in Law's recent birthday. The space, which I had been in before only for drinks during the pre-Rona times, is impeccable. Every light fixture, every chair, the bar, the booths, the vibe - is really cohesive and transportative. Every staff member I interacted with was such a gem, with a special shout out to the host who dealt with our large party, plus a two year old, in the most friendly and kind way. Our server, Austin, was also friendly and quick and made the evening seamless. Cocktails really shine here, my SWV (something with vodka) was one of my favorite basic cocktails I've had in town. Syrups are all made in house and the candied lime garnish made for a lovely photo and drinking experience. In the normal times, I will order this before every Geva show and every time I am in the neighborhood. I really like the menu here, with mains, pizzas, apps, and salads. In the future, I will forever just order a smattering of apps and pizzas here, and stay away from mains. We tried the charcuterie board, crab cakes, country bread (you MUST order tis bread), and wings as apps. These were all delicious and well priced. I ordered the burrata and half chicken cutlet for dinner, to make delicious burrata chicken sammies, and this was the right call. My partner found his pork chop pretty bland and the steaks didn't pack the kind of punch you'd expect for a special, according to my fellow diners. I also grabbed a bite of the funghi pizza, and would love to take a bath in the truffle honey on top of this! Overall, an awesome experience at Native and a real gem for this neighborhood. Enjoy a cocktail and apps in the outdoor space in the warmer months, and cozy up in a booth for the cold winter. Looking forward to my next trip!

First time visiting was on Valentine's Day. Seating was a little tight, but we were seated on time and service was timely and courteous. Some elevated sharables and interesting variations on classics, we loved the food. Started with the tostones since we don't find them on menus ever and they were delicious. Girlfriend got the Surf and Turf meaning I got most of a steak as leftovers and I got the chicken and biscuit which was well done. Delicious food, looking forward to going back for drinks and apps soon.

Impressive atmosphere and design of the place with open indoor/outdoor seating across from Washington Square. We tried each of the smoked drinks, all where fun (who doesn't like smoke in a glass) and well crafted. We enjoyed the beet dip, Cajun Pasta with chicken and New York strip with potatoes and asparagus. All were delicious. Wonderful service provided by Taylor. Recommend you ask for her. We already plan out return. Parking downtown is dicey. Recommend after 6p when garages are free and availability of on street spaces are easily accessible.

If you aren't a Tiki connoisseur you should still check it out for their unique take at South Asian and East Asian cuisine. The drinks are stellar. Very refreshing and smooth. Gotta remind yourself to go easy on them or you might find yourself very drunk very soon. The food is good. I wish some of the dishes came with the option to have a side of rice instead of ordering it separately. The mood, aesthetic and vibes hit you right including the decor and lighting. Take a moment to look around and above you to appreciate the art and craft mounted on the walls. Even the wallpapers contribute to the Tiki vibe. It's well done. Sean took care of us the whole time we were there. He is so warm, welcoming, patient and ready to give you suggestions from the menu based on what you need. Importantly Sean is attentive and makes sure your specific needs are taken care of. As for Drinks, Mai Tai- 4/5 It was a pretty well balanced Mai Tai. It is a strong smooth drink. Sherrykiller- 4/5 I liked the balance of flavors and how the sours managed to hold their own in this drink. Boomslang Fang- 4.5/5 Another smooth yummy drink. The flavors complement each other. Boozy Shipless- 4/5 Well presented. Tropical flavors through and through which I loved. I was not a fan of the garnish on top at first but it grew on me eventually. Now the food, We started with Sesame Garlic Brussels sprouts. 4/5 for that dish. Beautiful flavor. Well roasted sprouts. Coconut Sticky Rice- 5/5 Perfect rice. Well made. Well presented. The salty and the sweet flavors have wonderful chemistry. The rice was the right amount of fluffy and soft. Mandarin Tea Chicken- 4/5 Very yummy. Chicken was wonderful. I wish it came with rice and had more lean white meat as it seemed that it had more fatty dark meat. Jaffna Shrimp Curry- 4/5 Wonderful dish. The shrimp was well made. Perfectly cooked. The lentils could be more softer. The sauce was beautiful and combined all aspects of this dish perfectly. I'm not sure what leaves they used for garnish. I hoped to see curry leaves in there given the South Asian roots of this dish but alas they weren't there. Nonetheless it was a wonderful meal.

Our table got free shots because one member of the party was celebrating her birthday at Easy Sailor (she also received leis around her neck). Cons: Expensive. Small portions. Food is OK, but not worth the cost. Drinks are VERY expensive. The vegan appetizers are coconut sticky rice, sesame garlic vegetables, and kung pao cucumbers. There is one vegan entrée: Spamfu fried rice. The coconut sticky rice was decent, but not filling. And it's hard to eat it without making a big mess, because they foolishly serve it to you in a small, overstuffed dish with no plate under it. So when you dig into the ball of rice with your fork, you end up dislodging bits of it all over the table. They really need to figure out a better way to serve it. The sesame garlic vegetables were quite good (better than the rice), but also not filling. My wife had the Spamfu, which was a surprisingly small portion given that it's billed as an entrée. The vegan bits of "Spam" were cubes of marinated tofu, and there wasn't much of it. Given that tofu and rice are both cheap, the cost of that dish was pretty outrageous. And speaking of outrageous costs, the fancy drinks were priced astronomically high. The menu is written in a small font and is hard to read, especially given the dim lighting in the restaurant. I had to use my iPhone to take pictures of it, so I could magnify the photos on my screen. The water carafes are impractical. They have very long, thin necks, which means you can't put ice in them -- and they tend to block your view of other people sitting at the table. They don't hold much water, so you have to keep asking the server to refill them. And the water glasses are too small. The restaurant really needs to get bigger (but squatter) carafes that hold ice, and they need better water glasses. If you're not especially hungry and money is no object, then maybe Easy Sailor is right for you. Otherwise, I'd skip it.

This is the best for folks who like to bring their pups everywhere and I wish I had known sooner. I also heard they have a rockin' weeknight karaoke, and I know my partner and I will be hitting that up at some point in the near future. This is your standard Monroe Ave dive (not the diviest there is but divey nevertheless) and it fits in great with the rest of the Monroe scene. I went with a raspberry vodka soda and it was perfectly strong, made by a super friendly bartender who was attentive to everyone seated. Turcotts Taproom got more than a face lift from the days it was Lola's. It got a soul transplant…read more Or maybe a soul merge. Lola's had a great run, and the well known corner real estate on Monroe Ave ( a major conduit to downtown Rochester) has had several past lives. Today's reincarnation is that of Turcotts. Turcotts belong to the same family of tap houses as Oxfords, Magpie's, Murphy's law, and Brass (check out the Yelp reviews). Bye bye to craft martinis and burlesque nights with the scantily dressed and goth-ish lady staff. Enter stage left: mixologists with that gritty-Monroe Ave-Dude! Where have you been my whole life-being. Instant liquid compadre and confidant. Maybe because of the heavy pours, but I'm sticking to my stance of good people good drinks. Prove me wrong. And now a brief history... This multigenerational-"family"-owned network of bars lost a dear and close "family" member when the longtime manager of Oxford's passed away. As an homage to this veteran bar manager the owners approached his family and asked if they could honor the fallen by renaming Lola's after him....or more exactly his family name: Turncott! Hence, Turcotts. Cheers to this! The physical layout of this watering hole has always been a challenge. Not only for the staff but for the patrons as well. It's narrow and doesn't accommodate groups greater than two. So if you're on date night or rocking lower Monroe Ave solo; then be sure give Turcotts some play. The makeover this establishment received is a huge upgrade. Goodbye great dive bar and hello jump off spot. Generous accents of red leather trim with matte black wood trip gives the place a good attempt at being not divvy- almost reminiscent of the British turncoats!...A good checkpoint on any Monroe Ave adventure. The drinks at Turncotts are definitely on par with the neighborhood. Depending on your relationship with the mixologist behind the bar, you're gonna have that off menu specialty or you're ordering one of the staples on the cocktail menu. You'll get a good drink with any choice. Don't look for the craft beverage on tap, as they offer little that's not bottled. Bottom line: tip your bartender and enjoy life. You're either gonna kick off at Turncotts or splashdown here. That's what makes the patron mix oh so good. If you hit the magic hours between 10 and midnight, you'll definitely have a story to tell at the water cooler. Overall: great homage to a fallen friend. Decent atmosphere with decent drinks. Either we start here or end here... Either way: Tip your bartender and party on Wayne.
