Met up here on a Monday evening and was excited to try it since I had never been. I got the fries with preserved lemon aioli - these magical bites somehow stayed hot and crispy through the whole meal. I tried (& loved) their Belgian triple since it had just won a silver medal at the NYS Craft Brewers awards. It was well-deserving of the honor it received! Staff was friendly and attentive, and it was easy enough to get a bartender's attention for a refill. Seating area was bright and spacious with great atmosphere. Parking situation is kinda hairy - extra tight spaces in a small lot, but it was manageable for a Monday, and there's street parking if you don't happen to get a space in the lot. Cheers! read more

Fun spot and incredibly helpful staff at the food counter and bar. Food was pretty tasty, but we also tried to be "adventurous" and order outside of our regular stuff we like, so that is on us! Really nice brewery with kitchen for hot food and dessert selections. Beautiful space with a bar the length of main room. Plenty of tables to sit at. More of an upscale vibe than your typical brewery space. Freezing Friday night, we are visiting area for 1st time. There's so many local breweries to choose from. Glad we chose Strangebird. They don't have flights, but you can sample any beer you would like. Took me 4 choices before making my selection. We were only stopping for one or 2. Settled on honey brown (4 ounce) and one of the IPAs Wish we had been hungry because the food selections looked amazing. The crafted drinks looked really good as well. It's not so strange at all here, and the strangest bird I think was the duck wings. This place has a very welcoming feel, bright, busy, and family friendly with the food options. For a brewery, the cocktail bar, and the cocktails they serve, were both quite impressive. I had heard good things about the wings here, so of course we tried them. But I think we aired on the side of mild. The dry rub wings were well made, but I thought the flavor of these particular wings should have been more adventurous. Similarly, the fried chicken tenders on the steamed buns were also well made, but all the flavor seems to have come from the sriracha mayo sauce. Gotta try the other wing flavors. But there's lots of other great food options here. The beers were also satisfying. I was a little disappointed they had no darker beers on tap (maybe in the colder months?), but the Belgian saison I ordered paired really well with our food. It's too bad their outside space is limited, it fills up quickly in nice weather. Though indoor seating is bright and comfortable. The men's room is really cramped, it feels like a football huddle in there if there's more than 2 people. Those things said, food and drink here was overall a very enjoyable experience. read more

Great spot to meet friends! Lots of indoor seating - tables can be pushed together & moved around - and some outdoor seating. They have a small parking lot, and there is street parking, and a public overflow lot on the next block. Gender-specific bathrooms were clean and easy to find. Upon entering there is a sign to seat yourself - first come, first served - and we were able to find a table for 4 on a busy Friday night. The wait staff will bring out your food but there is no table service. Go to the bar to get your drink. Go to the food counter to order your food. They have a great system which allows you to start a tab at either the bar or the food counter and just have one tab and order in both places. So some of our visit was spent standing in line, and it's quite noisy in there (no soft surfaces to absorb sound) so hard to hear at times. We had some drinks and a couple of pizzas. They food was great - very tasty and fresh - and the drinks were a good pour! We would definitely stop back! read more

We heard the pizza here was quite good, so decided to stop by on the weekend. There were plenty of people soaking up the sun in their patio, but also ample seating on the inside. You go up to the counter to order, and food came out fairly quickly Fries: solid. I liked the frieds herbs and the lemon aioli Chicken wings: we got the garlic parmesan wings, but it had a sweet sauce on top of it. If you're a sweet/savory type of person this might be your thing, but I wasn't the biggest fan. Mushroom pizza: meh. The garlic aioli was too rich and overpowered the flavor of the mushrooms Mortadella pizza: this one was surprisingly good! The mortadella is oven-baked so it becomes crispy and loses that weird smooth texture it normally has. It was dressed in green pesto and was definitely my favorite out of all the pizzas Sausage: It was a sausage pizza. Nothing that stood out too much. Pepperoni pizza: I liked the contrast on this pizza, between the sweetness from the truffle honey, the mild spice, and the acidity of the pickled peppers. If I can leave no stars I would but Yelp needs a star to submit your review. Okay. I went here a few months after dinner at other place and hear for drinks. It was loud and very bright on Sunday night very sterile and lacks personality. Now, last night my husband and I ventured out for something different and a place we never tired. So. We decided on this place. He said, "this place is going deep fried vegetables." But we continued on way. Had to order from the kitchen had no problems with that. We made in the nick of time at 8:30 pm when the kitchen closes at nine. Again, no problem. The problem was lack of choices. It was a standard of bar food updated for millennials and older zoomers. Hence the lunch room feel of picking out your silverware and extra plates. Once again, no problem there. The only choice that seemed reasonable was the chicken caesar salad sandwich which we are kinda doing a "dirty" keto and my husband has gastrointestinal issues he assumed that was safe choice. Went to the bar to sit down where once we told to bar tender we are only having club soda with limes she rolled her eyes. As we were cheating her out tips for not ordering alcoholic drinks. Once, we received the food we amazed how it was presented it looked chicken salad mixed with Caesar salad ingredients. With fries which I haven't ate a fry in months. I know I could choose not to eat the fries but no substitute was offered to us when we ordered the sandwiches. The pork buns were good but NOT $11 good! I know the sandwiches were specials but nothing special about them. The bar tender didn't offer us more club soda she was busy with her friends. Knowing she getting a tip with us. The music was good retro music which I love but it was a wee bit loud for my taste where I m shouting at my husband only a foot a way at the bar. Again, the sterile void of any personality. It's has a 1950s Soviet factory cafeteria energy to it. I mean nowadays you are going to pay a tad more for dinner but for two pork buns and two sandwiches that were handily edible with no alcoholic and having the bill being $46.45 that is a little too extra for my taste. This place is awesome! I met up with some friends, you seat yourself and since there's no wait staff, you go up to the counters and order your drinks or food yourself. This means you can relax and have a great time for as long as you want. No pressure to get out fast, which I totally appreciate! Every single food we ordered was for the table to share and everyone loved everything. I particularly loved the mixed drink "fact or fig-tion" which my friends did not think was going to be so tasty. Turns out all 5 of us agreed it was the best drink anyone at the table ordered! I highly recommend this place and despite not living in Rochester, I will most definitely be going back! read more

Perfected pizza dough, perfectly cooked, awesome sauce, outstanding vegan cheese!! Now for the fries!!!! Food choices are very eclectic for your typical brewery but every time I have visited food is interesting and very tasty. Our service was sterling. Everyone is very friendly and efficient. Nice mix of ages and very pleasant surroundings. I had the chicken taquito special which was fabulous. My friend ordered the wings and fries. The wings were huge and tasty and the rosemary fries need to be shared as it is a very large bowl and the are great!!! Ironically, neither of us are big fans of beer but enjoyed the crafted cocktail I had (chamomile crusher) and my friend a cider Only problem I had was watching a very brave and speedy mouse run from behind the bar and all along the stools of people seated at the bar. Awesome place to stop in and grab some food. Not a beer person but the bar is a full bar unlike lots of breweries in the area. The food is spectacular. My only reason for the lack of 5-stars is that there's consistently no where to order a drink if you aren't seated at the bar and you have to wrangle your way around patrons. We've been 5 or 6 times in the last two months. The food is very good, the service is friendly and efficient and the atmosphere is loud and welcoming. Not the place you want to choose for an intimate conversation, but definitely great for friendly chatter and relaxation. I have been stuck on pizza and the mac & cheese, both of which are excellent. I understand that Strangebird is famous for their chicken sandwich but so far I haven't been able to pass up my favorites. I dont understand why I had not been here sooner. We can here on an early Friday evening around 5:30pm or so. To give you an idea it's off Monroe you take a turn down one of the side streets and you arrive in an area I in all honesty had not seen before. Some nice houses, a park and a decent view of downtown. They have their own parking lot but it was already filled up. Just be advised you may need to park on the street. They have a deck outside for dining/drinking. While here some were sitting outside. We went inside it's large and slightly industrial the color scheme is white and bright. The best thing you can do is first is find a seat, than order your beers/cocktails at the bar than order food. There are two different places for this. You order your food and they give you a number and they bring it to you and you wait at the bar for your drinks. Luckily I went online to get an idea of good a drinks prior. But they do have a menu at the bar and when you order your food they have a menu above the register so you can order. These are the food items we go both excellent and here's a better description from the website. I got: FRIED CHICKEN SANDWICH (e without bun) sichuan chili oil, cabbage slaw, comeback sauce, sesame roll served with fries. My friend got: BBQ CAULIFLOWER V SANDWICH (@without bun & onions) cherry bba, braised greens, crispy onion, cheddar, sesame roll, served with fries We recommend both and the fries were tasty as well. We got a few cocktails and both delicious and interesting. Honestly they were a nice surprise as who would have thought to make an Old Fashioned with mescal and my drink I would think would be a big hit during the warmer months. I got the JUNGLEBIRD jamaican rum, campari, pineapple, lime, smoked maple And my friend got : MEZCAL OLD FASHIONED mezcal, agave, orange bitters Now they have beer of course and other things to imbibe or not. Everything was tasty and I'd for sure come back. A few things to know it's loud it is what it is but know you can hear your friends at the dinner table. The interior is very cozy and open-plan. We sat at a small table for two. We ordered smoked chicken wings in maple sauce, a cheese pizza, and macaroni and cheese with rigatoni. The food is made from scratch using local ingredients. We will definitely be back. read more

Finally made it over to Strangebird and had an average first experience. It seems like every time we have wanted to go in the past, it's been with a group, and it's always so packed inside, that we have never tried to wait. This time we decided to go right at opening time (noon) on a Saturday. I could not believe the parking lot was already full at 11:50 am when we arrived!! Despite several other groups having the same idea, we were able to get a table, and within an hour the place was 90% full! We were a group of 5 and ordered all veggie options, and got a few made vegan. We were a little disappointed that they gave us a specials menu, but most of the specials were already finished - so I took off a star for that because I think it shows a lack of attention to detail. Food quality was very good for the things we ordered, but most everything was overly seasoned and too salty; another slightly disappointing thing was their lack of gluten free options...to make a sandwich gluten free you just leave off the bread...no options for the mac and cheese or pizza... but maybe in the future. Also, although I liked the interior space, the serve-yourself water station, the big windows and great light, the overall vibe with the staff was like they were all tired and just going through the motions; folks were not very friendly or forthcoming with info when asked questions, and it kind of felt unwelcoming. Could just be that the night before was slammed, or that the particular staff had all also been out too late ...not sure, but it was noticeable and everyone at our table remarked about it. Anyway, they are obviously very popular, and probably have good and bad days like most places these days, so we will most likely try them again another time. read more

I loved the bbq dry rub wings. I kid you not, they are the BEST wings I have ever had. Service is quick and efficient and the food is fresh, hot and delicious. The fries were also very good. It's nice how much space there is indoors and outdoors, that they're able to accommodate a big group of people. The drink options are plenty and my favorite was the lychee cocktail. Fun Sunday afternoon watching football and having a few cold ones and later dinner. One of the larger beer menus I've seen before for what I think is a single location - easily had 15+ of their own craft brews on tap. Big fan of the Kings County Birding Club - a fresh hop IPA. Shared a BBQ chix pizza and a reuben special which were really tasty. Not a ton of TVs - in fact use a projector to cast on a large wall, but the screen is bigger than a normal large format TV. Didn't buy, but they have beer that you can take home, and a small outdoor seating area. read more

Ok, I've been to Strangebird before - I think I had the burger to go - it was delicious! This time I opted for the fried chicken sandwich to go, which has received rave Yelp reviews. I have to say, the fries that accompanied the sandwich were perfection! The perfect amount of crispness and seasoning. The sandwich however, was a bit disappointing. Everyone raves about the crisp coating, but too me it was oddly hard. There was no discernable seasoning on the outer coating, which was so crisp that it was hard to bite. It was not a classic fried chicken coating and was almost unpleasant. Note - it was not burnt or overcooked. The chicken inside was thin and tough. When in Rochester this brewery is a must visit. The space is large to accommodate many. Beer selection is probably one of the most rounded you find anywhere. They have stouts, IPAs, lagers, ales and just your typical light beer. Plenty to choose from which is really unheard of in the brewery business. Glad they had things beyond IPAs. While you sipping on some great brews grab some food. They have great pizzas and burgers that compliment your libations. The staff was on top of things and quickly made sure to take of you always.
