We called a few days before and got 7pm reservations for 4 on a Friday night. We were told upon arrival that there would be a short wait but after a half hour at the bar, we asked again and were finally seated but then we had another wait before our server came over to verify our cocktails were still good and said he'd be back shortly. Nico was very busy, maybe too much so, to give prompt service. Same goes for the hostess who could even get to us as she was tasked with a big take-out order. Once Nico finally caught up he was entertaining and responsive. I think staffing needs improvement or reservations need to be spaced out better if they can't staff! They stretched themselves too thin having parties going in the back room at the expense of the main dining room. Once we got going, food and service was excellent. We had chicken parm, crab filled haddock, gnocchi, and shrimp. All were delicious. But the actual highlight for my wife and me was a shared wedge salad. The dressing was fantastic. The food for the Mothers Day brunch was great. Good selection ! However we had to serve ourselves including drinks & coffee. Then to top it off we were charged $75 per person for a group of 8. Plus a 22%gratuity charged on the bill. Not sure who got the 22% gratuity when all our "server " did is give us our ticket for the mimosas and bloody Mary's which by the way we had to pay separately too. So this was just ok .food appears good, but my white wine was warm, I was solo and simply ordered a Margherita pizza. Center was undercooked.. I was hoping for better. Pretty decent food and good service. We had a bunch of appetizers for a large group. Particularly loved their bread in the beginning though and it was really good with the oil and butter. Also loved the beans and burrata cheese. I had the margarita pizza which was pretty good. I ordered a limoncello spritz which isn't on the menu. They did it really well. The tiramisu was also delicious. According to some people in my group the beet salad wasn't great and the pastas lacked some flavor. I didn't have any. I have been going here quite often. About twice a month for a while now simply because it is one of the most amazing restaurants I have been to. I hardly EVER get specials anywhere else because I'm usually disappointed. However, Pane hits it out of the ballpark every single time. Their scallop dishes are to die for. We dined here on a Wednesday night for our anniversary. First time at the restaurant and we were extremely impressed. The service was great, the food was even better. Inside the dining area it was cozy with the fireplace goung. It was busy and every table was used, that was a good sign that our meal would be good. Last night my husband and I went out to dinner with another couple for a celebration dinner. I was excited to try Pane Vino as I had never been before and had a craving for some fancy Italian food. Upon entering, the restaurant had great ambiance, decor and also a live singer. The singer was situated near the bar in jeans and a T-shirt which was interesting albeit he was talented with his singing which provided a nice backdrop and mood. We were seated promptly and quickly asked if we would like something to drink. I originally wanted the Mezcal (I have had many different mezcals before) but the waitress quickly said, "no you don't want that". I was confused and thought maybe they were out of an ingredient but the server said I wouldn't like it because it's bitter. A little odd because she didn't really ask what types of drinks I like, so I was a bit pressured to go for another drink and ended up going with another cocktail, which was nicely crafted. We were welcomed with warm bread and different toppings which was a nice touch. We started with a shared calamari appetizer which was quite delicious. For the main course I had the Cannelloni that I was pleasantly surprised with! The portions were huge and mine was stuffed with seafood that was perfectly flavored in both the sauce and also the sauce on the inside for the seafood. We had to hunt down the server to get some parmesan for our dishes but other than the the service was very attentive has far as refilling water and drinks. We rounded out the night with a cheesecake for dessert. Overall the drinks and food were lovely with tasty flavor and large portions. I didn't realize there was another Pane Vino outside of downtown, and I'm elated at the news! We ordered takeout (COVID-19 times, etc), and plated our own food, but it was great to be able to include fresh bread and garlic butter even at home. We ordered the penne vodka with chicken, chicken french, caesar side salads, and tiramisu. DELICIOUS. No other way to put it. The portions were amazing (enough for lunch the next day), and ordering was very easy. We were also very happy with the pick up set up, and the precautions the restaurant was taking to space people out and provide hand sanitizer. The space inside looks wonderful - including a huge bar, and we're looking forward to going back when things return to normal. read more

Lobster ravioli was over cooked lobster and gummy ravioli with a very bland sauce. Ambiance was extremely loud in the sectioned off room, I could not here my family or myself speak which defeated the purpose of dining out together. Initially, I asked the hostess to be seated near the outside patio but she said all tables were fully reserved that night, but I'm thinking I did not pick a table when I reserved so why can't you swap a 4 person table by the window with a 4 person inside? Then she said there was live music but I don't think people reserve for that either? Her answers were very inconsistent and awkward. Extremely disappointed in the service and food. I came back to Rochester to visit from Texas. Pane Vino was my favorite and I made a point to go on my first night in town. Service was slow. Food was sub par. One person in our party was brought chicken French rather than haddock French. Food was delivered at different times. Wrong food came out and waitress was told the seafood pasta wasn't ours she stated well "one of you ordered it". No apology for wrong order and please don't state you serve fresh peas.... What a nice dinner! The atmosphere is great and the staff is very accommodating. We sat on the porch are outside and the hostess turned on the heater next to us. My father has celiac and although the menu does not specify gluten free, our server was very knowledgeable about the menu items telling us most can be prepared gluten free. Atmosphere: It's cozy. Warm colors. Usually, live music but acoustics are good enough where you can still hold a conversation without screaming. We were sat by the fireplace, which was nice for V-Day and appreciated since it was a cold evening! Order: Gnocchi w/ lobster, Penne w/chicken, Salads, Moscato, Calamari Service: Ok. So, upon entering the hostess was on her cell phone. She greeted us but it was hurried. She got back on her phone, sat some other people and then sat us. She came over and basically threw them on the table, turned around, went back to the desk and back on her phone. My boyfriend was very put off by this. It was his first time here. The waitress came over and the hostess was momentarily forgotten. Our waitress was very good! She did come around a bit too much, but she was just so nice and accommodating that I didn't mind. There was live music playing which added to the experience. The Yumminess: The bread they bring is very good. There is some sun-dried tomato oil that is divine!!! The calamari was decent. Not the best I've had but good. The portion was big so we didn't eat much of it. The Caesar salad I received with anchovy was lacking in flavor. The anchovy helped but the actual dressing was very bland. I didn't eat much of that either. My gnocchi was divine! Wasn't the prettiest dish but the taste was on point. Very large portion and very filling! Boyfriends penne was good however he said the chicken in it was over cooked and not seasoned. He just ate the pasta. Our Moscato's were average. Not as chilled as I would have liked it but ok. Check Please!: Pricey - $120 ish for two Bottom Line: Pleasant experience overall. The hostess took away from that experience at first but the waitress made up for it. For the amount paid, I almost feel like it should have been better. The ambiance and the holiday we went for was worth it but the food was ok. The gnocchi did save it for me. I cannot lie, it was flavorful and I enjoyed it. I started going to the original Pane Vino years ago. I used to like it, wasn't impressed but it was a perfectly fine average Italian restaurant that happened to be downtown. I used to have a feeling they were having trouble because they ALWAYS had GROUPON's. Good popular restaurants generally do not have to give discounts. Nonetheless I am always happy to see yet another Italian restaurant on the east side. Everything at this new Pane Vino I expected was different. Somethings were better many were worse. First of all it took an incredibly long time just to receive our salad that we ordered. What do I mean by a long time? We were at the table for almost 90 minutes before the salad came. We had a table of six people 4 people ordered salad one person ordered soup and one person ordered an appetizer of clams. The soup as well as the clam took even longer. Then there was the actual salad, it was wonderful. I ordered the wedge there was nothing wrong with the wedge in fact it was as good as you would hoped to be. $12 in Rochester New York is a lot of money for a salad. I'm not saying that I haven't had salad more expensive but generally I expect to have incredible service for that price. No matter how sweet the waitress was 90 minutes is all that I could think about. To make it even worse the problem continued, once again it seemed to take once again an incredibly long time between the time we finished our salad and the time we received our entrée. We ended up sitting at the table for at least 2 1/2 hours. Now I have stayed at a tables many times for 2 2/2 hours and have a great time. In this particular case it was AWFUL and I will explain why. As we were waiting forever for our food The restaurant was so extremely LOUD that we could not talk. A good conversation can make time go fast. In this particular case two and one hours were similar to watching paint dry. Now I have to be honest everybody's entrée was great. Nat five star great, but wonderful. You should expect food to be great because it was very pricey. None the less I have nothing to complain about the actual food nor the amount. The waitress was aware that we were not thrilled with the long time. As a result the waitress told us that we were given some free desserts. The The waitress seem to understand and told us that the desserts could be given to go. Helped a little, and a lot of little. The trouble was it still seemed forever just to get the desert. And when I paid even that took a long time. Finally when I did receive the bill the restaurant made it very easy for me to give the tip. I was automatically charged an extra 20% for the tip. I more often and not to give 20% tip, I would not of given 20% this time given the two and half hours it took to have dinner. Bottom line good service WHEN I could actually see the waitress. The food was excellent WHEN I finally got it. The price was pricey if not expensive given a combination of not just the time wasted but also the loud sound. I probably will never go back. I certainly will avoid until MANY MANY people tell me it's great. read more

Took advantage of another beautiful April Sat. evening to have dinner on the patio at Pane Vino on the Avenue. Thanks made a reso a few days earlier when I saw the weather forecast. I asked for an outdoor table but not in a pod since the weather was so nice. They had just set up about 10 tables near and under the pergola - I addition to about 6 or so under pods. Haven't tried a pod but eating in a plastic igloo just doesn't sound that great! Out service was fantastic- my 2 dates (!) split 2 bottles of wine and I had a couple of brews. They ordered salads and a had the special gazpacho with lump crabmeat (that was a first). There was a band - a duo- that wasn't too loud and enhanced the relaxed laid back atmosphere. One of my companions ordered the grilled salmon- the other had stuffed cannelloni with crab and spinach. I had the Rigatoni Bolognese- all were excellent! I am out of practice taking pics of all the food- so I just got the salad and gazpacho. They are seating at 50% indoors but the inside is huge so they can handle a pretty good crowd. One tip- they had changed to an"spring" menu so some of their dishes like Chicken or Veal Anthony are not on the menu now. All in all- a beautiful night- a great dinner and atmosphere. I had been wanting to check this place out for awhile and was finally able to go this past Wednesday. We had a reservation for 6:30 and arrived promptly at 6:30. Upon entering the restaurant, the hostess was very friendly and immediately took us to our table. The restaurant was very busy for a Wednesday evening (must be a good sign!) Once we were seated, our server immediately came over, introduced herself and took our drink orders (I wish I remembered her name, because she was awesome!). She was very attentive and friendly. Even the busser was super attentive.. I was never out of water and our empty dishes were swiftly taken away. Once we got our drinks, we placed our food orders. We shared the spicy calamari and I had the chicken french with linguine and spinach. My friend had the chicken parmesan. I guess there was some confusion in the kitchen about my order, so one of the guys came out to clarify it with me, so that was very nice! The food was delicious (huge portions, but who doesn't love leftovers right?!). We were both very very full after this, so unfortunately we didn't have dessert, but next time I will for sure (it looked so good, they have a dessert tray!). Anyways, I was very very impressed with everything. Fantastic service and great food. My only issue was I didn't like the way my spinach was cooked, but that's just my opinion, so not a big deal.
