    Country fried steak
    Sarah S.

This is my go-to post-night-out diner, which I've been frequenting for years. That being said, I don't know why it only has 2.5 stars? It's a diner, not a fancy restaurant. You definitely get your bang for your buck here, and the food is good. Last Saturday, a friend and I came in around 10:30 and were seated promptly. You know how after a night out, your body craves something of substance? Well, I was in need of some warm, filling homefries, and what I got was even better. Their breakfast potatoes are moist and flavorful--I didn't know I preferred actual potatoes over homefries until now. These babies were served with a delicious country fried steak smothered in gravy, over-easy eggs, and toast. You could tell that the steak was high quality from its flavor and texture, and it had a crisp breading on it. All 4 of these things complemented each other nicely, and along with some OJ and coffee, I was a happy camper. My friend got the southwest omelette, which she enjoyed. I do believe this place is highly underrated. It may be simple, but it is yummy.

    Crab bisque

This is a nice family restaurant that I used to go to with my mom and daughter 25 years ago! We enjoyed our meals then and it's still good today. I hadn't been there since I moved back. The food was great and our waitress was fabulous! Still the nutcrackers around too. Felt so comfortable. I had leftover pork roast and stuffing to bring home. It was tender and the gravy was very good. I also had a nice salad that I chose to bring home for later. My friend had the BLT with chips which she enjoyed. The crab bisque was thick and rich with a lot of pieces of crabmeat. It was very tasty. Now I'm back I Webster I will be coming here more often!

Lentil soup with touch of Tabasco
    Paul V.

This place reminds of bygone days diners type restaurant. Service was good and lentil soup was refreshingly tasty you do not find that at many places who serve that. My associate ordered Greek salad see picture which was really mouthwatering good. My sandwich was ok . My Tabasco addition makes it spicy, It was a quite afternoon at 1 pm so we had good business meeting.

Before we went there we went to dinner and stopped into Mama Lors Nice little restaurant. Kind of a random location too, but for some reason I liked where it was. Liked the outside of it. Reminded me of like restaurants in old ass buildings down in Staten Island. Spent a lot of time down in the city as a kid (family there) and lots of time on Staten Island. We'd always go to Italian restaurants there (even tho we are all Irish lol). This place kind of reminded me of those restaurants. I know, random thoughts to share, but that's immediately what I thought when I pulled up. It's NOT an Italian restaurant tho. It's American food. Burgers, salads, chicken dinners etc. Food was actually really good. Not too crazy overpriced like majority of restaurants these days...like ones that charge $15 for a plain waffle or something and the waffle is next level basic af. At least I'm not bitter lol But yeah, food was very good. The garlic bread...delicious. I have yet to find garlic bread tho that I don't like. Waitress was suuuuuper nice. Every employee we encountered was very nice. Place is big. Plenty of seating and you're not right on top of each other either. There is outdoor seating as well...pretty sure it was closed when we were there? Could be wrong. However, knowing what the weather right now is like back there...yeah, safe to say outdoor seating closed for the season lol. Restaurant is very clean. Nice floors lol. Random again, but I noticed that the second I walked in. I had neverrrr heard of this place until my friend suggested it. She lives in Chile so she's more familiar with the Rochester area. And Williamson, honestly, I forgot that city/town even existed lol. I didn't do any exploring there tho. The restaurant which is actually in Webster and then we headed to the hayride in Williamson...like 10 mins away. Nice place. I'd 100% go again. I'd also for sure recommend it to anyone..especially if they're looking for a nice restaurant that's not insanely expensive and has a really nice atmosphere AND is in a historic building. Ok so maybe in NY, it's not classified as a "historic building" bc most places in NY are historic. I live in Boise, Idaho tho. We have historic buildings here, but NOTHING like NY has. So when I go to an old building like this....IIIIIII classify it as a historic building haha. Thanks for reading, MamaYelperLor's!!!! Check it out! Support a local business! You'll enjoy it. If you don't...you know where to find me....right here on Yelp haha. Cheers!

It was very nice; we were able to have a decent conversation with dinner and that made for a wonderful experience. The service was prompt but unobtrusive. Portions are sized well but not huge. I did see some people taking home some white boxes. We shared our starter, entrée and dessert and finished it all. We started with Smoked Trout Dip served with house made potato chips. The ratio of chips to dip looked off but it was perfect. Personally, I thought the dip was under seasoned and light on the trout. The Chef came to our table to discuss his cuisine and we both left with our own opinions intact. The Featured - Friday Fish was the best Bouillabaisse I have tasted in years. It was the Friday Special and it was indeed special. The Bourbon Apple Crisp was to die for. If I had known, it was so good we would have ordered two portions instead of splitting one. The parking lot on the property is very small, but street parking is available.

While planning our dinner party months in advance, the communication from Janine was excellent. She helped us develop a 4-course menu that was sure to have something for everyone, including vegan and allergy friendly options. Amy was our server for the evening, and she ensured we had everything we needed to enjoy our evening. The chairs in the Meyer's Den are wide and comfortable, the decor is dark and classy, and being in the basement away from the dining room made it very quiet and easy to converse with family. The room is rather spacious for 12 guests, but could also accommodate a few more people without feeling cramped. Out of the appetizers we selected, the Charred Octopus was very popular and everyone enjoyed it...even those that had never previously eaten octopus. The baby cauliflower dish was also a beautiful presentation, and quite large and enjoyable. The salads, particularly the Charred Hurricane salad, were nice light courses before the entree was served. As for the entrees, the filet mignon was a little on the dry side, but we really enjoyed the light and crispy spinach fritters that accompanied the beef. The salmon was a generous portion of medium rare fish, and there was lot going on with that dish - spicy cauliflower and za'atar potatoes that had some mixed reviews. Folks who ordered the duck breast seemed to enjoy the complex preparation, which had asparagus, green beans, and two pureed sauces - cauliflower ginger and cherry-rhubarb. The doughnut bread pudding with apple pieces and vanilla ice cream was a delicious, decadent way to end the meal. We left rather stuffed, and delighted with the overall experience that allowed our family to celebrate together.

The duck was succulent and roasted just enough. The Brussel sprouts that came on the side were a disappointment though. For dessert, I ordered ricotta pine nut tart with lemon sorbet. The tart was very subtle in flavor but good. My friends ordered the bread pudding which was great as well. Overall, very satisfied with the food and service. Can be back!

My husband and I have been to Ravines Wine Cellars several times since 'discovering them' during a special farm-to-table dinner and wine pairing at Good Luck a few years back. That night we enjoyed a 5-course meal and each course was paired with a different wine. It was the first time we ever experienced drinking finger lakes wines that we really enjoyed and could see ourselves buying for private consumption! Shortly after that, we made the trip out to the wine cellar in Geneva to do a tasting. On our first trip, we did the wine and cheese tasting - loved everything and went home with a bottle of Meritage. On the second trip, we did the wine and chocolate tasting (which features chocolates from Hedonist) and came home with a bottle of the Vignoles. Fast forward another couple of years and we took advantage of a holiday event which featured food pairing tastings from Brown Hound Bistro at the Ravines location in Hammondsport. We left with several bottles of wine for holiday gifts. Every experience was great, with friendly and knowledgeable people, enjoyable atmospheres and yummy goodness. Most recently, I was lucky to attend a special dinner at the Ravinous Kitchen as part of a company event. There were 12 of us for a 6-course meal on a Sunday evening (usually they are closed at this time). Included was a tour of the winery and wine cellar, with time spent with the owner and the head chef. It was amazing. The chef prepared really, really delicious dishes for each wine: --We started with glasses of their 2009 sparkling Brut Rose which was delicious. Paired with a bacon puff and served with herbed crème fresh, this was a lovely little bite. --Next, while we were in the cellar, we were served a parsnip bisque with caramelized cheese. We ate that while tasting their 'new' 2015 Meritage right out of the barrel. It was cool in the cellar and the bisque and wine was a perfect little warm up. --First of the 'mains' was a large serving of local Lively Run chevre, with a side of kale and some pomegranate drizzle, served with their 2015 dry Riesling. They also gave each of us a fresh baked roll, and mine was gluten free - the most perfect gluten free roll I've ever had - truly crusty and 'French-bread-like'. I could have died happy after eating this course. --Second 'main' was a stuffed squash with some kind of spinach or creamed green inside. This was doused in brown butter and served with a smear of red miso. The dish was served with their 2013 Pinot Noir. Holy deliciousness. Unlike any squash dish I've ever had, this was definitely the table favorite. Super savory and umami, great depth. Super yum. --Final 'main' was braised beef short rib served with shaved brussels sprouts and a mushroom 'cream' made by roasting a medley of mushrooms and pureeing them with cream. This dish was served with au jus and the 2013 Maximilian red. A rich, delicious combination. I have to admit at this point I was over the top stuffed, but even so, when the chef brought out extra servings of the short ribs, I forced myself to have a bit more. The au jus was delicious and the meat was totally fall-apart tender. So good. --For dessert, we were served a butterscotch 'risotto' - basically a rice pudding with white chocolate, apricots and toasted oats. This was served with the Vignoles. Take a bite and a swig and swirl them in your mouth - flavor explosion! I really love the Vignoles. Even those at the table who are not fans of dessert wines/ports/ice wines drank every drop! (Too bad because I was offering to finish whatever anyone wasn't going to drink, but no takers....) Ravines is definitely at the tippy top of my list of favorite wineries and experiences in the finger lakes. And with all the new awesome eateries in Geneva and the focus on making the little college town a foodie destination, I highly recommend you join the Ravinous club, rent an Airbnb and go there to spend a weekend of eating, drinking and merriment!
