Staff is always friendly and efficient. I met one of my friends for breakfast and Ann Marie took great care of us. My friend had a big bowl of oatmeal with a side of raisins and brown sugar. I had 2 blueberry pancakes with real blueberries inside and on top, real butter and a side of real maple syrup (upon request and an extra charge), and a side of scrambled eggs (gotta have some protein). My husband and I ordered 2 fish fries for takeout last Friday. I red my receipt the next day and noticed there was. 20 percent tip on my receipt. When I called Parkside they said they automatically add a 20 percent tip on takeout. If you don't notice it I was told it goes through. Hello I was very disappointed with this diner! The food was fine, no better or worse than 90% of diners in town. Except the price is about 50% higher than most other diners of the same quality. The worst part though is that they add an extra surcharge on your bill for each item with eggs. There was a small sign in the restaurant claiming that they added this price because of the "historic rise in egg prices" and that the fee will be removed once prices go back to normal. It is August 2025. Look it up, egg prices in the US have been normal since March! This is obviously a dishonest tactics by the owners to scrape a little bit more money from their hardworking customers. For shame! I won't be returning. read more

This may be a locals hangout, but we locals didn't have much fun. The server was very nice, but it ended there. My omelette was ok, mostly tasteless and covered with squares of "American Cheese". The hash browns were limp and tasteless too. While the corned beef has was decent (my husband had a corned beef omelette) the omelette itself was dull. The home fries were good, but again there was an odd taste, like a strange oil. To top it all off, Fox "News" was being shown on two of the three televisions. Let me start saying the food was very good! They have tables outside so we could eat with our dog. Flipside... It took a long time for the food and the service was poor. We had to go inside to get our check because the waitress never came back. Another item to note is that there was a $.50 surcharge for each plate with eggs. I ordered an extra egg with my dish for the puppy, which should have been $1.69. We were charged $3.59 plus a .50 surcharge! I could've bought a whole dozen eggs for that!! This is the first diner that I've visited in this area (since moving here 18 years ago) that reminded me of the diners in the NYC/NJ Metro area. This is a very good thing. The menu was on point with what I expect from a diner. A wide selection of breakfast, sandwiches, and a few Greek items. We went with some of the classics and the food did not disappoint. This was always our go to diner for breakfast. Now, it is under new ownership, and unfortunately, it shows. And not in a good way! Prices are higher, serving size is MUCH smaller, and the taste......just not the same. And who I assume must be the new owner, just hovers;sitting in a booth on his cell phone. Cashier was rude stating that the server would need to fix it. Server did not fix bill and we were forced to pay the higher bill because of some problem with their system. I want to like Parkside SO SO SO! Badly. I have given it multiple chances to blow my socks off or even just not suck and it just...keeps.....failing. Before they shut down for a few months things were OK. They were not good, and their home fries had an odd red tint and were pretty but besides that I could enjoy a meal here. At least it had that whole small town vibe going on. Wife and I went this weekend after they re opened and it was just so much worse than ever before. The hostess was not walking people to their tables, it was clear she was reluctant to move from her seat at the cash register and usually she would point at where she wanted people to go. Some were escorted half way. She pointed at our table which had silverware but no menus. So we sat, and chatted with no drinks or menus for about 20 minutes. No waitress came. The hostess did eventually bring us menus but still no waitress or drinks. We decided with the poor service not to get anything but water as we'd seen no coffees warmed up in the half hour we waited. A server who was just barely not rude to us came over eventually to take the order. We were two adults and an infant, We ordered French toast and an omelet. Her reply was " that's it? Whatever" and stomped away. The service was never great but my god this was just so bad. The food was meh, they paste their toast with margarine which is gross and give you the same for the French toast. We did opt to try the Fruity Pebbles French toast which said it was battered then dipped in fruity pebbles. When it came out it was pretty clear that was a lie. Sure there was fruity pebbles IN the batter but it was not as described and was meh at best. The omelet was ok except they put "American cheese" on an Italian Sausage Omelet which is gross as it isn't even cheese. The home fries were like griddled mashed potatoes and again WHY ARE THEY RED? Toast had margarine as I said. In addition to bad food and bad service they SEVERELY jacked their prices and got rid of almost all their specials. They were charging $10 for 2 eggs meat toast and potatoes! My regular diner charges $6! SMH. AND THEY CHARGE TO USE A CC!! I live close to this place and really wish it was the awesome little diner it could be. A cute family diner nestled just a few blocks from Lake Ontario. I dined here for lunch recently and had no complaints with my experience. It is much like you would expect, a mixture of locals reading the paper and having their coffee, and families enjoying a home cooked lunch, and workers grabbing a quick bite before running out the door. I opted for a BL (BLT hold the T) and it was good- I ordered it on untoasted bread so the kitchen had to remake it when it got to the service window and they had missed that detail. We love breakfast at the Parkside. We've never had a bad meal. The service is prompt and transactional, but appropriate for a diner. We had our dog with us, so we sat outside. Right away they offered our dog water, which is just another reminder that Parkside is pet friendly and welcoming. We had coffee and pancakes. The coffee was good for diner quality coffee. I have been here twice. Once was quiet awhile back, and the most recent time was the Yelp Diner Series event that I was so happy to attend. :) They have jazzed up the place since I'd been there last. They had a tv with the specials on it, and several other screens around the restaurant. There were a lot of items on the menu that sounded good. I decided to try the cheesecake pancakes and they were very good! It was a lot of food so I wasn't able to finish it, so I had leftover pancakes the next day, too. Yum! Every dish at our table, and every dish in the restaurant looked yummy to me. There's lots more dishes that I want to try! My husband and I aren't early risers, so we're more breakfast for dinner type people. If the diner was open later (they close at 3pm) we'd probably get here more. But the next time we're looking for breakfast, I will remember to come here again. I also just noticed on their website that they are open until 8:30pm on Fridays. read more

The diner regulars sat in the tables around the counter-top, complaining about Democrats. The place was still quiet on a Friday morning. A little sign showed the blue plate specials of the day. There it was. At the bottom of the menu page. Something unheard-of, inconceivable. To think about it too much is to go mad. If you're lucky, your head will then explode. Otherwise, you'll be in a permanent state of delirium, with only the thin, monotonous piping of an unseen flute to accompany your dizzying, maniacal "thoughts," thoughts of: Cap'n Crunch French Toast. That Horatio Hornblower homage; commander of the S.S. Guppy.; Horatio Magellan Crunch's breakfast has got corn for crunch, oats for punch, and it stays crunchy, even in milk. This opportunity could not be passed up. Bo asked the waitress what she would recommend as a savory option to balance out the cereal. She was right on point. The #4 breakfast special, or something, was eggs, meat, and french toast. She substituted the Captain Crunch variety for a small upcharge. Also, CLUTCH, real maple syrup. For a small upcharge. Dave ordered the breakfast special that included two eggs, potatoes (shred, obvi.), and toast. The Captain Crunch French Toast was a pleasant surprise. It was not overly-sweet. It was "adult sweet," mature, and sweet/savory. The flavor was, if you will, complex and sophisticated. The texture was creamy and smooth. When top-tier, white-tie intelligencers must coax their prey into a false sense of security before poisoning (or incepting) them, but it's too early for alcoholic drink, they take them to the Parkside Diner and order them the Captain Crunch French Toast. It appears from the above photo that I was not given an exorbitant amount of maple syrup. True. But it turns out I didn't really need much. The crisp outer shell of the french toast prevented absorption, so only a small amount was called for, atop. The Canadian bacon and eggs were the right choice. They balanced out the exotic with the familiar. Dave's eggs, sunny side up, as per yooshz, were fantastic. They were prepared precisely to the point just before the yolk congeals, creating a thick yolk that still runs smoothly. Diner enthusiasts universally agree that fewer than 0.01% of diner cooks dare toe that line, yet the Parkside Diner is fearless with their eggs. The English muffins (pro-tip: always upgrade to English muffins. Or don't. I'm not your mom) were good, but the expert butter distribution elevated them to greatness. The potatoes (spike on an oval!) looked cheesy, but were not. Conversely, they looked bereft of seasoning but the visual lack of spices betrayed their remarkable flavor. All for $3.99! The whole tab was about $21 (mostly due to Bo's endless upcharges). As we left the place, we noted that there was beer at the counter. So, there's that. "Some Labatt on your eggs, sir?" The morning sun had risen over the yachting rope. It was going to be a beautiful day. It's always a beautiful day when then Cap'n had crunchatized you. Generous portions and homemade love make their dishes completely worth it. A great classic American diner. The restaurant also owns the miniature golf course in the same lot. They do have a modest putt-putt here that's open in the warmer season..but I've never played it and I've been getting food here since I was a kid in the 90s. I'm just about the food lol..I love their brown gravy..love to order it on the side for my French fries...and order extra to drink it..mm mm! Their meatloaf is the bomb and it's my go-to at most diners. Parksides Meatloaf is the best and you must try it. Another must try is the corned beef hash...wowwie! Always enjoyed delicious breakfast after a morning run in the area. It is only a few minutes from the Eastman Durand beach park, and it has a pretty cute mini golf area next door. It is a mom and pop diner, and you just feel like being at home. The food is well sized and cooked appropriately. The banana foster waffle is delicious. Crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside! We had dinner at the Parkside - which is just over the Rochester line in Irondequoit - on a Saturday in 7/05. The Parkside opened in 1990 and it's owned by two brothers, one of whom is the cook. They also own the adjacent Parkside Whispering Pines Miniature Golf, which opened in *1930* and is still quite popular. Getting back to our meal: the food was delicious (we each had the turkey dinner), the portions were generous, the prices were a bargain and our server was quite friendly. read more
