Diner coffee in 40s diner mug

Just remodel ' Ah, old-fashioned diners! There's something so charming about the red and silver and vinyl booths, gray floors, and neon signs. The smell of freshly brewed coffee and sizzling bacon, the clink of dishes, and the warm, inviting atmosphere make diners such a nostalgic experience. Picture this: You're sitting in a cozy booth, flipping through the menu filled with comfort food classics like burgers, milkshakes, and hearty breakfasts. The friendly waitress takes your order with a smile. Diners really capture the essence of a bygone era.

1st time after Reno. Still great box car feeling inside. Brighter, cleaner but still The same Highland diner. Food was the same as last review but an updated photo of the interior. Get there around 8 (opening) and you won't have to wait.

I enjoy this diner and have for about 35 years. Their seafood omelette is worth traveling from Buffalo for, and really all of their food is quite good. The waitresses and waiters work hard. Parking is tight, but the capacity of the diner is pretty small so if you can't find a spot to park, chances are you won't find a seat either. They keep the coffee cups refilled, and the coffee mugs are the heavy ones with the thick rims that I like. Portions are ample. Prices have gone up quite a bit, but they still get five stars and I will continue to come back.

A truly amazing restaurant. This place should be a landmark for Rochester. The place is a beehive but the food is the draw. This place is a must if you're ever in the Rochester area it's every meal is unique Services fast and the food is full of flavor. Coming here makes your day

My family has been here many times before and had always spoke highly of it. I tried it for the first time this morning and had a lovely experience! Our waitress was very friendly and checked on us multiple times during our visit. I had the banana walnut pancakes and they were filled with lots of banana & walnuts. My family had the Gouda and asparagus omelet and the cali omelet. All the omelets were very good and filling! We really enjoyed our breakfast and will be back again soon!

Lovely little diner, definitely will be coming back again. It's a cozy little spot with a big menu -- tons of breakfast and lunch items, seasonal specialties, and milkshakes. The servers were super friendly and the food came out so quick! The ambiance was great, it gave old-school classy diner. Looking forward to trying out more things on their menu!

Over the years, I've been coming to eat here. The food has been consistently good, the staff is always very friendly. They used to be open all day, but post-pandemic everything changed. Now they are only open until 3:00 pm every day of the week. Only breakfast and lunch are available. Today I came for lunch: Avocado BLT, a delicious mixture of flavors and consistencies on Multigrain Texas Toast. Green Hot Tea completed my meal on a chilly day. The planters outside are blooming with spring flowers.

The service is relatively fast compared to how packed the place is. The wait for Sunday brunch was about 30minutes so be ready for a wait. The food is decent, i highly recommend the greek skillet since the gyro and feta cheese is pretty delicious. The decoration is also pretty cute

Highland Park Diner is cool enough as it's built out of an old train car and has a retro vibe, but the food is really good too. I love coming here for a leisurely breakfast at the counter on mornings I don't have to rush into work. They offer French vanilla flavored coffee in addition to the standard stuff, and a big breakfast menu. I usually go for something simple like grits and eggs, and it's always tasty. It does tend to get busy here as the diner is not huge and it's a popular place. The parking lot is often frantic (it's at a busy South Wedge intersection after all), so take care when backing out.

Great diner.. huge menu, great food, and the service is friendly and fast. So many choices, and even when they're very busy, which is often, service is always friendly and prompt.

I swear I've written one before. I appreciate that they give you a buzzer and ask you to wait outside because the place is small. I wish they would reinforce it, though. Tables get turned over quickly, and the menu is a classic great diner menu.

Came to Highland Park Diner on Mother's Day and they never disappoint! Georgia was a fantastic server and the food was absolutely delicious as always! The servers mentioned that it was hopping since they unlocked the doors at 8am and we were happy to be one of the last two families to help close them down and hear the buzz about their busy day. Well done, HPD!

All of the others who didn't measure up." But take heart! All it takes is taking off the glasses and letting its hair down, and suddenly you realize just how attractive and special Railway Station Diner really is! It's the quintessential reliable diner. Above average food. Below average prices. Regulars. A counter. Good service. Quick service. The Mediterranean frittata was wholesome and filling. The ingredients, fresh. It came with roast (up charge for raisin toast, but worth it!). The breakfast sandwich with shred, too, was perfectly proportioned; the crunch of the English muffin and the squish of the sausage balanced each other exactly equally, like Neo and Smith in that third Matrix movie. But the true hidden gem was the muffin. Cut in half and grilled. With sugar crystals! Not too big. Not too small. Not so sweet as to be dessert-like. Just perfectly sweet enough to make you not regret "going savory" by getting the frittata as your main course. Next time you're asked about the best diners around, make sure Railway Station Diner is part of the pantheon.

There is someone just circling constantly with a pot. This is a cash only establishment, so be advised. There is an ATM. We did go at slightly off peak times, since we weren't working those days, but at those times, the restaurant seems to be a favorite of retired men, which is a good sign for a diner! They have a set menu and a specials board that I think changes daily. There's 2 full pages of breakfast, and at least 2 pages of lunch, plus the board. I'm sure you'll find something you like. I had the same thing both visits - a cheese omelet with hashbrowns and wheat toast. It was really cheesy, and I liked that it was a 2 egg omelet rather than 3, for me it was just the right size. We also split a piece of the rotating coffee cake, cinnamon walnut that day, and it was good - not too sweet, plenty of cinnamon. The guy had their 2-2-2 combo and was happy with that choice. For both of us, breakfast ran about $35, for 2 entrees and coffee, plus the cake.

Their breakfast selections are extensive, generously portioned and our choices were delicious. Again, we came here 2 days in a row. First day, we had omelettes. Western & greek. I had hashbrowns, hubby had home fries. Both were cooked perfectly. Crispy edges, soft & seasoned nicely. The next day, we came with our daughter. She has eggs benedict with side fresh fruit. Platter was huge with so much ham and potatoes with the eggs and Hollandaise, she couldn't finish it. Husband had an amazing special: a fried breakfast wrap with powdered sugar. Inside was everything! Pancake, eggs, sausage, cheese and hashbrowns. I had a bite, it was to die for. I chose the bacon cheeseburger omelette which i also loved. Our waitresses both times were attentive and so nice. Prices are good, portions are large! For breakfast, come here! And if there is a wait, I promise it's worth it!

Unfortunately, it turned into one of the worst restaurant experiences. We spent 2.5 hours total at the restaurant. After waiting an excessive amount of time, we watched two tables that arrived at least an hour after us receive their food first. When we politely asked if our ticket might have been missed, we were told those tables ordered before us, which simply wasn't true. We were then told the delay was because burgers take a long time but a nearly two-hour wait for a burger is pretty wild. It took about 25 minutes just for someone to take our drink order, and we were never asked if we wanted additional drinks. We had to flag staff down for everything. No ketchup, no hot sauce, nothing offered. The $30 mimosa flight served in tiny glasses also felt like a complete scam. When the food finally came, two people in our party were served 15-20 minutes before the other two, and the food was cold. One dish had completely raw eggs. When I let the server know I couldn't eat it, she came back and removed the meal from the bill, which was appreciated. However, the interaction itself felt tense and dismissive, which made an already frustrating experience worse. They did give us a round of breakfast shots to try to help pass the time which was appreciated. The food itself was disappointing overall. The breakfast burrito was basically all eggs with raw, bitter avocado, and my husband's burger was missing requested toppings. We also noticed food sitting in the service window while we continued waiting. The only person who was happy with their meal got the biggie fries an it was hot when it arrived. To make matters worse, the bathroom was unheated on an 18° day (feels like 2°) and not clean. We're a pretty chill, patient group and understand that kitchens get backed up but man, this experience completely missed the mark. Ironically, the cooks thanked us for our patience and servers said goodbye pleasantly on the way out. We honestly may have let a lot of this go if the service hadn't felt so dismissive when we calmly raised concerns.
