I got the biscuits and gravy and the the gravy was a strange consistency and color although it tasted okay. Eggs over medium, bacon, home fries, Italian bread toast. A great way to start the day. We were going to the Memorial Gallery of Art so needed some calories to enjoy the walk around to see exhibits. My sister ordered eggs benedict with Canadian bacon. She doesn't eat meat so the bacon was mine. Both meals were excellent. I enjoy this diner and have for about 35 years. Their seafood omelette is worth traveling from Buffalo for, and really all of their food is quite good. The waitresses and waiters work hard. Parking is tight, but the capacity of the diner is pretty small so if you can't find a spot to park, chances are you won't find a seat either. They keep the coffee cups refilled, and the coffee mugs are the heavy ones with the thick rims that I like. Portions are ample. Prices have gone up quite a bit, but they still get five stars and I will continue to come back. read more

Over the years, I've been coming to eat here. The food has been consistently good, the staff is always very friendly. They used to be open all day, but post-pandemic everything changed. Now they are only open until 3:00 pm every day of the week. Only breakfast and lunch are available. We were here just before Christmas and the decorations were amazing! We felt like the holidays arrived! The service was pretty fast. We tried their vegetable skillet and Italian skillet. Unfortunately, the food was underwhelming, under seasoned and just bland! I really wanted to like the food. The prices are nominal though. And the quantity, as good as any other diner. Both of our meals were decent, but nothing to write home about. We had to add salt, pepper, and hot sauce to both as it tasted like neither had enough spices if any. Perhaps some people like it more bland, but we needed more flavor. The service was excellent though and so was the hazelnut coffee! The atmosphere is the best part of this diner as it is built inside of an old repurposed car. Most things on the menu are delicious and they are known for doing old school milkshakes. I overwhelmingly order breakfast here, but they have a huge diner style lunch selection as well that I know people enjoy. This spot is insanely popular, and can get very busy during peak breakfast hours on the weekend. There is a small parking lot for ease of use, as this located on a pretty dense road at a busy intersection. Explore the gems of the neighborhood and settle in for a lovely experience at HPD! Highland Park Diner seems to be an icon in the Rochester area, and I completely understand why. It's been plucked straight out of the 50's and it's maintained all the charm. The inside is on the smaller side and it gets busy quick, but my friend and I were able to be seated at the bar right away. I opted for a cheese omelette with rye toast and fruit. A simple breakfast that they nailed, for a reasonable price, my grand total being $9! It kept me feel for the majority of the day, too. My friend got the half waffle breakfast with scrambled eggs and fruit instead of meat. For an extra dollar, she was able to get pure maple syrup, which made the meal for her. Our waitress was kind and the service was speedy, so even if it is seemingly busy, the turnaround is quick. If you're in the area, I highly recommend coming to give Highland Park Diner a try!
