Good Eats at a good price. Tuesday evening is Trivia. It starts at 7:30 PM. I don't know how it turned out but the place was full. We stopped by for dinner and a beer. The "Fish Sarnie" was excellent; fresh bun, tartar sauce and fresh deep fried cod. Special. The French fries were the best I have had in ages; crisp and salty, in a large pile on the plate. The "Coronation Chicken" served on naan could be eaten open face as a salad or as a sandwich, either way it was great. Great beer selection as well. The chicken tenders were some of the freshest juiciest chicken I've had, definitely unexpected for bar food. The special of the week was a savory puff pastry with chicken tikka. After visiting a loved one in the hospital, we wanted food to nourish our souls as well as our bellies and this was the spot! It was clean and had beautiful wood tables, booths and bar. There was football in the other room, but it was far enough away that we were able to have a quiet conversation. Our server Whitney had only been on the job for a few weeks but was very knowledgeable and was very personable. They have a QR code for their beverages with descriptions so lovely they made you want to try each one. I only had a cider, but my companion sampled a few. Whitney also shared that on her day off she was planning on reading up on the multiple kinds of EANAB (equally attractive non-alcoholic beverages). We shared a poutine- which was large, delicious and had flavorful gravy. It could have managed a few more curds but I also think everything could do with more cheese. My companion had bangers and mash and was only able to eat one of the sausages. I had an enormous piece of fish with my fish and chips and the fish was very moist and flaky. Both entrees came with minted mushy peas- not my thing but I understand they go with the theme. We were able to pack enough leftovers to feed three people for another meal. For dessert we split sticky toffee pud and it was really delicious. I am not a local, but have already recommended it to at least two people who are. read more

We were looking for a place for dinner and boy did we get lucky! The place is clean and well-furnished, and the bar is gorgeous. We wanted a little quiet so we sat on the other side - it looked like there was also outdoor seating for nicer weather. Whitney took great care of us and helped us select some delicious dinner options. The beer descriptions were also great - the QR code to a real time list is a great option and means it's always current and doesn't depend on the server to know beer. We ended up starting with a terrific plate of poutine. I might have liked a little more salt on the chips, but it was delicious. It was also huge. Two people splitting it should probably have split an entree too as we ended up taking some home. I had the bangers and mash - excellent sausages and taters, and a nice zingy mustard sauce. I can take or leave mushy peas but I have that same issue in the UK. My dinner companion had the fish and chips which were also delicious (and big). Favorite parts: - Happy hour everyday 4-6pm, which includes menu items like a happy burger (like a McD burger but 1000X better quality and much bigger), basket of fries, chicken dippies (3 piece handmade tenders). I just wish they had a printed happy hour menu (maybe they do, I just didn't see it). - Service: Nick our waiter was personable. Made sure we were well-taken care of and told a great story. Also loved the whole vibe throughout the pub/restaurant. - I highly recommend trying the Scotch egg. It's a soft boiled egg encased in a THICCKKK layer of breakfast sausage, breaded, and then deep fried. The Sheffield burger was also a favorite. The fact that the bun was spread with a garlicky butter, brought it to the next level. And I found out that I love cheese not being fully melted on the burger. The Sheffield is a place we've been meaning to check out for several years and we've just never made it there. We've been missing out! For starters we had the whipped feta and beetroot, and Tendies and Dippies. The feta and beets were fantastic. Likewise, the Tendies and Dippies were loved. The breading and fry on the chicken was so wonderfully done -- light, flavorful, and perfectly cooked such that they were juicy. Dipping sauces were also great and we should have kept them for french fry dipping later. The fries were well seasoned and crisp. For the burgers, both of them were perfectly cooked, and the toppings and sauces were thoughtful and in just the perfect quantity. "The Sheffield" might just be among of the best burgers you can get in the Rochester area. Service was attentive. We will definitely return. read more

Multiple mistakes were made though our server handled them politely and the best she could since it was a busy Friday night. Stopped in for a late dinner. Hubby ordered bangers and mash and I had the pork schnitzel sandwich. Both dishes were delicious - I would definitely order the pork sandwich again - it was so crispy. I had a glass of Cabernet but they were out of cranberry (???) so hubby did not have his usual Ketel One and cranberry. Josh took great care of us. He checked in regularly but was not obtrusive. We had a small family birthday celebration there and found the food and service both excellent. The menu is eclectic, with burgers, mains, and appetizers from all over the world. The poutine with corned beef was a great start along with some Amazing Grains bread that went well with our beers. While it has typical bar food, it also has good selections with a nod to the owner's roots in midlands of the UK. The owner knows and values beer like few others in town. Went to Sheffield's for the first time last night with a few friends. The food was great. The food came out quick and was piping hot. Wednesday is half priced wings and their wings are crispy and a nice size. They offer a few different kinds, all were good. Everything was really good. Beers were between $6 and $7 for craft pilseners and they were ice cold and also very good. The waiter was on top of everything and friendly, no complaints there. In several ways it's very much how Tap & Mallet was, but even more like an English pub, and somehow the food is even higher in quality. The rotating draft list, the vegetarian options, the art on the walls, and even the decor are all reminiscent of the other place. But the food menu says, classic English pub, elevated. I've had the shepherds pie and the fish fry, and both blew me away. They didn't seem like basic standards - even the "chips" were triple-fried so that they resembled fondant potatoes. Perfect crust and batter. Flavorful and interesting mushy peas. Generous portions. And several vegetarian versions if you're not a carnivore. To cap it all, the service is fantastic. The last fish fry I got was terrible. The fish looked large, but was burned. The crust was hard too. When I cut the fish the piece of fish was less than an inch thick. We're so glad The Sheffield is open again! Living close by, we really need a solid restaurant with a vetted beer list where we can have an easy dinner out. On this visit I enjoyed the corned beef poutine. With its creamy cheese sauce and large curds, it definitely hit the mark on cheesiness. A little too much of the creamy sauce - and a little light on the corned beef cubes. And definitely light on the fries. (Although I did wind up with leftovers). My dates had the Malek burger and the fried chicken sandwich and were both satisfied. The mashed potatoes and gravy were super creamy and delicious. They are putting out some more patio furniture, so hopefully a Sheffield summer is in the future. read more

This place is great! It's gorgeous on the inside and the staff was very friendly. The menu has many great options. They have several different side options. We went for lunch, but they have a different dinner menu. I had the Pastrami Sandwich with their potato wedges. The pastrami is made in-house. My food was delicious. This is me personally, but the wedges are big and I wish they were smaller because I like more of a French fry. 2 friends had burgers and said they were really good. One friend had the fish and chips. I tried it and I said it tasted like fish on a fried cloud! Haha! It was REALLY good and kind of light!
