The Coterie is a cute restaurant with whimsical decor. A little bar area that serves great cocktails if one only wants to come for drinks. This is my second visit. The first was lunch. I ordered a cup of the Creamy Tomato Basil Soup, the Fried Green Tomato BLT, and a Mocktail. The soup was so delicious, I wanted more, but then I could not eat the sandwich. I love FGT & BLT. What a nice Mocktail: Pom & Happenstance Blueberry Syrup, Org eat, Pomegranate juice. Divine. The second time at dinner. The day Steak special with a rich creamy sauce of caramelized onions Bacon bits. Mashed Potatoes and Asparagus. A glass of Red Blends Dessert was an Apple Crisp Pie. Wonderful dinner. Great place. I will start this as I always do by saying I don't give out five stars unless I am really blown away. I was not sure what to expect when I chose this place for lunch. It looked good and close to where my customers work place was. It turned out to be a good choice. I called for a lunch reservation but turned out it wasn't needed. There were a few tables filled but there was plenty of room. The tables were nice as we got a high top that reminded me of a bowling lane it was kinda cool. The chairs were mismatched on purpose and I loved it. They had a sitting area with a big soft looking couch. The menu was a good size and I liked a bunch of options. I went with the rice bowl with portobello. It was delicious. It had picked vegetables, rice, pico and some sort of wasabi drizzle. I would have eaten another. We got an app that was pita, veggies and pita. The hummus was good and the pesto was very good the only down side is it could have had more pita as there was a lot of pesto hummus and roasted red pepper dip left. Staff was quick and chef was on top of her game I would suggest for anyone that is in the area. Stop in give it a try. I will come back and try some other meals. What a great little place! The drinks are unique and taste great, and the food was wonderful. Everyone is very nice.

I ordered the Cali black bean burger to go about 50 minutes before close. I'm still trying to get used to the closing times of area restaurants. Most stay open later in my old state. The bartender here was friendly. My food was amazing! The online ordering asked me to choose a sauce. I chose chipotle ranch. I didn't realize it would be in a little cup and was already on the burger. This meant l had awesome dipping sauce for my fries. And the fries needed no sauce because they were seasoned well. And nice and crisp! The burger was a work of art with the avocado, pico, and sauce arranged beautifully on the patty. Will need to get a table next time, but I didn't want to burden them with that this late. It's a drive from where I live on the Western part of Rochester, but I will make the trip back! read more

We happened upon The Coterie by absolute chance. This is truly a hidden gem in the suburbs of Rochester! Such a great ambiance with eclectic vibes. The menu had something for everything. Cocktails were incredible as well. I wish I had taken pictures of the food, but we were too excited. The 777 Seafood Spinach Dip and Chicken Cordon Bleu Egg Rolls are an absolute must try. Great restaurant, delicious food, delightful staff, very relaxing and comfortable. we had a party of 11, early on a Saturday night. Some of the dishes we tried were, Naan pizza, sweet potato fries, fish fries, pasta and the fried green tomato BLT. Wow, everyone loved their food. Portion size was perfect. But the headliner has to be the desserts! Deconstructed carrot cake, Grand Mariner custard served in beautiful stemmed dessert glasses, and s'mores dip and deep fried Oreos! Topped off with great coffee. And, I have to say, one of my most favorite things about this very cool place are the actual wood dinning room tables and chairs for larger parties, just like Sunday dinner at Grandmas house! with (maybe) better food! This was the 1st time we have been to this restaurant, which happens to be within walking distance of our house. So we went in and we were promptly seated by our waitress with our menus & place settings. It took a minute for our waters and for the waitress to come back and take our food order. So when she did come back and we ordered I also ordered a strawberry lemonade which was very good I had 2 of them throughout the course of the meal. And my significant other ordered the tomato basil soup which he said was good but it took a very long time to get it. And we waited and waited for our dinners. And finally we got them they were hot which was a plus and I ordered the Cali burger & fries mine was good and the portion size was also perfect for me. And my significant other got the shredded beef quesadilla at least that's what I think it was so he said his was good too. The waitresses were nice and the place was cute. We stopped here after dropping off our daughter because of the YELP review to and what a treat! Do NOT be fooled by the outside because it does not have ANYTHING to do on the inside. Amanda, one of the owners greeted us with a beautiful smile and welcomed us in like she had known us for years. The food and drinks were on point and their friendliness was beyond impressive. We started with the Taste of Italy as an appetizer and it was delicious! The drinks were on par as were our main courses...the Fatso burger and the Hankibus-try it-absolutely delicious! I will start this by saying the food was excellent. I got a fried green tomato BLT, and all 7 of our meals came out hot and all together. On a different note, our service was extremely slow, we were there for an hour and 40 minutes for just a quick lunch with friends. It was also 86 degrees inside the restaurant in the back area, but much cooler up front. Server only refilled waters once and we were almost done with our meals. Not a pleasant dining experience, but could be great with an AC fix and faster service. I would try again for sure once kinks are worked out and update my review. read more

First time at The Coterie restaurant last night and was quite impressed with the transformation from the previous business that occupied the space. The ambiance is now very quaint and welcoming. We appreciate a great burger (not fast food) and were pleasantly satisfied with one of the BEST BURGERS we've enjoyed in the Rochester NY area! The Plain Jane was perfect in every way! Loved the brioche bun too! And I must add a few more tidbits.... seasoned French fries were mouthwatering delicious, along with the side of homemade ranch dressing, which I personally love to pair! Compliments to Amanda in the kitchen! Service was personalized by the owner and made us feel welcome! We will be back soon! Gotta try the Naan pizza next! read more

Atmosphere is great, BUT this is my compliant, ordered the Seafood Spinach Dip and for the price of $16, we received an amount that probably equated to 2 spoonfuls. Spread out on a small cast iron skillet. If I had a tape measure with me, it probably wasn't even 1/2 inch high. To the owner: We as consumers go out to dinner to enjoy a good meal, don't rob us of our hard-earned money with this non-sense. Food was all delicious! We stayed in a hotel near the restaurant and decided to do take out. We ordered Spinach salad, Nan pizza with fig and onion and egg roll cordon blue. Spinach salad was way better than we anticipated. It came with fresh strawberries, blue cheese crumbs, caramelized walnuts. It was so refreshing and tasty. The pizza was also unique - they used Nan as pizza crust. I was worried if it's too sweet and it's got fig jam.. but it was super flavorful. The cordon blue was just ok. Party of 9 for birthday gathering on a quiet Saturday afternoon. Mostly empty bar and seating area. Daughter in law suggested it as a place they hadnt been yet on their side of town. Not sure of the claim to fame for this place but no one was impressed. Wait staff did well, food was bland. I had something called chopped parm sandwich. Had no flavor to it. Even the sauce. Came on a nice hard roll with so much sauce, it couldn't be picked up to eat so, knife and fork time. My wife and daughter in law had chicken bst quesadilla. Looked good but once again, no flavor. On the plus side, the quite small serving of French fries,were excellent. And daughter-in-law said after dinner latte was okay. I hate paying for dinner but when I can do as well at home. Relatively new restaurant in Gates. Interesting decor with like a mini-den between the bar area and dining tables. Menu is creative with many interesting offerings across different cuisines. Our group was very satisfied with their choices. One minor suggestion would be to have two sides instead of one with sandwiches. Price point was very reasonable for the quality of the meal. The staff is friendly and accommodating. For example, my request for tagliatelle pasta instead of penne for "Penne Alla Drunk" was cheerfully honored.
