Stopped here twice recently. Specific to both experiences, the staff are friendly and attentive. There is a nice selection of beer with Guinness and Rohrbachs Scotch Ale is also available. My first visit I went with the Cottage Pie. It was decent but it lacked depth of flavor. My second visit I went with the goat cheese salad. I really enjoyed it. We went to McColley's in Spencerport last Friday the 13th for dinner. The place was packed and we got 1 of the last tables in the back and to the side of the restaurant. It was nice there very rustic. So our waitress came to the table shortly after we sat down and took our drink and food order. He got fish he was happy with it and I got the veggie burger and tater tots everything was really good. And it was a nice night out. If you're in the area it's a good place to go. read more

I don't really know anything about Irish food but I have enjoyed this place all three times that I've gone there. However, there is always something on the menu that they don't have. Tonight's disappointment was the shepherds cake. However I loved my boxty burger which is a bacon cheeseburger with cheesy potato pancake on top. Burger was juicy (needed a wee salt shake). I asked for the garlic aioli subbed in for plain mayo. Sheppard's pie potato skins were tasty and an interesting take on my usual favorite. The taste of beef stew I had before Hubbo gobbled it up had a very tender piece of meat on it. Hubbo's Mac and cheese was not great. He never picks the right thing. read more

We thoroughly enjoy this bar/restaurant. It's a little out of our way, but it's always a go too for family, friends and my husband and I enjoying a nice night out. The atmosphere is amazing and truly a replica of Ireland. The waitress we typically have during the day (I apologize for not knowing her name) is usually the bartender, waitress and anything that is needed. She is FABULOUS!! Tonight we had a lovely server- Alissa who was over the top delightful, friendly, attentive and just the sweetest person. She was running around the back room all on her own and she was spot on with all the tables, guests and coworkers she was interacting with. Better than 5 stars. Excellent service, atmosphere and food. All four people of our party were beyond satisfies, we had such a good time and everyone loved their food. You can taste the love that goes into their cooking. We had the French onion soup which was delicious! Shepard's pie and the special hamburger of the day, a quesadilla hamburger with pepper jack cheese and guac using a jalapenio tortilla. Omg their sweet potato fries were some of the best I've had and I've tried a lot. They're thicker cut, crispy out side, tender inside, just perfectly fried not too greasy and served with their own honey mustard dip. I love the set up inside, each booth is separated by a fake window which really makes you feel like your in your own little cove. Service was so friendly, food served fast. 1st trip to Mc Colley's with friends upon their suggestion. Very diverse menu. We all had several options on what looks good to us. Food was very good, especially the French Onion Soup & Pizza. Probably a dozen beers on tap with something for everyone. I was happy to see a tap list that isn't 90% IPAs. Beer was nice & COLD. Our waitress Gail was very agreeable, efficient, entertaining & pretty busy. I think she was the only person running the bar & all tables, plus hostess. Prices were average & fair. Our daughter likes poutine so we got an order to go for her. She gave it 2 thumbs up. Needless to say, we plan to make a 2nd visit sometime soon. read more

Absolutely love this place. By far the best restaurant in Spencerport. The food options are unique and always cooked to perfection. The fish fry's are great, especially the salt-n-vinegar chip version. Prices are very reasonable, serving sizes are spot-on, seating is spacious, and the beer/drink selections are great. We had the best night out the other day! A delicious dinner and then an acoustic guitar player in a room I didn't even know existed! Their new room is gorgeous! It made social distancing easier. I had a special shepards pie with turkey and sweet potatoes. It was very light yet filling and delicious. My husband had the chef burger and a side of French onion soup. Went on a Friday. I had there Fish fry and my wife had Sheppards Pie. The fish was just "ok", it was a little over greasy and have had much better fish at other restaurants. My wife said the Sheppards Pies was not good at all, that is unless you want just potatoes with a little meat, carrots, and peas. I don't know if it was just that days service, so we will give McColley's another try, but we will not be ordering the same thing. read more

A few years ago, I went here and the atmosphere was very welcoming, I was craving something hearty and greasy as I went out the night before with friends someplace else, I asked what was the recommended items that the waitress at the time loved, she suggested a garbage plate crunch wrap as the chef was trying something out, the wrap itself cured my need for something greasy, and I hoped they would keep it on the menu as a permanent thing but I guess they decided to not keep it because the next time I went back, it was off the menu. :( I hope they bring it back someday. read more

Smaller narrow bar in Spencerport, located right on Union street with limited street parking. There is a parking lot available near by the canal, just a short walk to the bar. As you enter the decor is very interesting, lots of dark wood and a cool pew converted into a roomy table. An old cabinet has been refurbished into storage for the bar. The bar itself is small, limited seating. We were meeting a few people for happy hour, as we waited for everyone to arrive we had a drink at the bar. They had signs up advertising four different can's of beers, I tried to order one...but was told they haven't' had that for a few weeks, then I attempted to order a different one on the sign but that had also been out for a few weeks.... might want to take the signs down. I then ordered a bud light... was shocked at how the beer wasn't really cold. The bartenders had some odd theory that bud lights don't have to be at a cold temperature only craft beers do...I switched to sierra nevada pale ales...thankfully they believe those should be cold. Once all of our group arrived we decided to grab a table, we found a spot in the way back of the bar.. where they have another small bar but it wasn't open. They have a garage door that opens up to a patio area with a few tables. I ordered a corned beef Ruben with fries, it was just ok Nothing that I would rush back for. read more

I decided to try McColley's for my weekly Friday Fish 'n' Chips and it was pretty good! The location is nice, just a short walk from the bridge and the canal in Spencerport, and the atmosphere is that of a friendly Irish Pub. I ordered the Rohrbach beer battered haddock which comes with coleslaw and a side. For my side I chose the sweet potato wedges which have an additional upcharge of $2.25 but they were worth it. The fish was well-done and crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. I wouldn't say it was the best fish that I've ever had but it was good (and if you come in Friday or Saturday between 1130am and 600pm they have an early bird special which saves you a dollar). I have never been disappointed with McColley's be it food or drink or service. They do a great job with their menu and come on, Guinness poured correctly and served beautifully, how can you not enjoy the moment. My golf crew are always there thru out the spring and summer and we always look forward to a great time, great service and atmosphere. I really enjoyed this spot. My friends and I went here on a Thursday night. They had a beer special (brewery of the month) and if you got a beer from that certain brewery you got a free pint glass. When we first walked in, we weren't sure if it was seat yourself or if someone would seat us. Service was kinda slow. He left us alone for the most part, and had to wave him down for our bill, and for refills. Three of my friends ordered wings. They were very crispy, large sized, and the sauces were unique, and definetly house made. The most well liked sauce was the Guinness BBQ and toasted sesame. I ordered a Reuben, and the meat was really tender. Also, we ordered the loaded fries and they were SO good. The meat hot sauce had quite a bit of allspice / clove flavor to it, but it was a really nice surprise. Everyone in my group was raving about the food & beer. The bar is also pretty big. Arrived in Spencerport on our boat during a torrential downpour. We were extremely happy that we chose this canal town to stay overnight. After we set up we ordered take out from McColley's and they did a superb job fixing our delicious dinners. 4 hungry , tired and wet boaters ordered the stuffed mushrooms , baked haddock , cottage pie and chicken pot pie. WOW what a yummy feast we had bacon in our vessel. Thank you Gail for the smiling welcome, laughs and drink as we waited for our food. I used to live in Spencerport.. and now that I no longer live there, this awesome bar opens up. I only have Yelp to thank as I have not noticed this bar, though I've driven by it several times in the last 2 years of its existence. After seeing some of the photos on Yelp I knew it was a place I needed to check out and immediately book marked it! Several other fellow Yelpers have described this place as "Classy" and I will certainly agree, but I would like to add that it offers a hint of a Rustic Country feel as well. (But not the type where you think OLD- It is done so tastefully) Upon entering there is a small patio with tables and chairs for you to sit and people watch. You take a step up and you enter this establishment. We did not notice a door, it was just wide open. There is a large table with re-purposed church pews for benches. Along the left wall there is also some re-purposed benches for a standing wall bar. To the right is a small but somehow perfect sized bar for this type of establishment. Drinks are a bit expensive, but that's ok because this place is worth the trip. As I tried to grab some drinks, one of the patrons at the bar informed me there is another bar in the back. I was not really sure what he was talking about. When I peer into the next room all you see is a small dining room. By the way, the dining room has a beautiful fireplace with re-purposed coat rack and newly added deer antlers. I knew from Yelper photos that this would interest my husband! We took our drinks anyway and followed the hallway to find this other bar. Again, we passed and re-purposed pew for a standing wall bar and then you are in the new bar area. What catches your attention immediately is the piece of drift wood that is fashioned to the bar. Its hard to miss. It actually became a conversation piece for us. We asked the bartender about it and he told us that it came from the owners backyard. Then had us turn around to look at some large tree roots that were also re-purposed and bolted into the walls and decorate with lights etc. Defiantly a must see. While are the bar we started to look around and realized this place really does re-purpose everything.. but not in a tacky yard sale way. The back bar where all of the high end liquors are kept is an old re-purposed china cabinet, glass removed. The bartender confirmed this and also said the front bar was similar. I missed that, but made sure to look on the way out. There are more pews and doors etc that have been put to good use through this facility. Lastly there is a back patio with tables and chairs. I have to say that I am shocked by how interesting this place is with all of its different rooms and its overall feel. On to the important stuff.....food and drinks. As I mentioned before, the drinks were a tad pricey, but worth it. Both bars have different beers on fancy draft, so make sure you made note. Also, their selection does change. The food- I posted some photos of the menu. Our Reuben Fritters appatizer were over-fried. My husband loved them. I was not as thrilled. We ended up splitting a large Friday Fish fry and added an extra order of fries. We had to take some of our dinner home because it is sooo large. We didn't care for the tarragon tartar sauce or their vinegar based coleslaw though. We will certainly be back. Looking forward to trying some other items on the menu and capturing some photos of decor. read more

McColley's was such a needed addition in Spencerport. I really enjoy coming to this pub to catch up with old friends, or if I decide that I was going for a walk to get fit and then just kidding I want to ruin the canal walk with a beer. Wednesday is pint night, and if you get the draft special, they give you the glass it comes in. They have live music every week, and it is really awesome when the weather is nice to sit on their back patio. They also have cute outdoor seating in the entryway of the pub. The woodwork is super homey and warm. They normally have really good music playing too, and the bartenders are very friendly and attentive. There are always people relaxing and having real conversations, instead of people glued to screens. They do have a dart board in the back, but it isn't a very divvy place. I always find myself getting the Franziskiner Spaten Hefeweizen when I come here, and it always comes in the right glass. I love it when a place puts the right beer in the right glass. I haven't eaten much here except for a cheese plate, but everything that comes out of the kitchen has looked pretty good. Super friendly staff, the restaurant is clean with the expected Irish vibes. Lots of delicious menu options, including Burger of the Week the Chef comes up with. That's what I usually order, my favorite being the Quesadilla burger. Chipotle Mayo, Avocado, Caramelized Onions, Juicy Burger all wrapped in a Jalapeno Tortilla. The menu looked very good so we tried it out, I haven't been since they opened and remember it being amazing! The server never asked how our food was, the appetizer was to salty to eat. Again never was asked how food was! Our glasses were empty and the server walked by three times and looked at the table, never asked if we wanted anything Else until the meal came out. The entrees came out and while they were at best okay mine was very dry. I would have sent it back but again I never saw the server til They walked by and placed the check on the table and kept walking. It was VERY over priced for the portion sizes and quality. We have given this place a couple tries to redeem themselves. The waitresses and General Manager have always been short and curt if you are not a regular bar fly. The food was overpriced for the portion size. The Irish staple Colcannan was cold and tasted like a boiled potato. No flavor. When you use the same glass to refill your Guinness is a big no no and they never switch out the glass. Does the owner not read these comments?
