What a gem! If this is not the best brew pub in Rochester, I need to know, because Rising Storm Brewing is one of the best breweries I've been to in 26 states. First off, the food. Wow. The Detroit style pizza is phenomenal! Perfect crispy crust. I was there on a Friday but came back the next day to try the tomato pie as it was sold out on Friday. It was delicious! Think focaccia with tomato sauce and Parmesan cheese. So tasty! But what is brilliant is that of four pizzas, one rotates each week and changes. I had one of the rotating pizzas: pepperoni, banana peppers, garlic sauce, and honey. It bears repeating, wow! So great! The beers? There's something for everyone! So many hazy/New England IPAs and sours. Great seltzers too! The space is great with room for private parties. Such friendly staff. I hope to come back again before leaving! read more

Love the history and ambience-look for the log of first snows on the wall dating back to the 1930s! I love the hang out atmosphere where kinds-and adults-can play and hang out. I am from Detroit and love the style of pizza and they have a good version. Most importantly the crispy cheese crust and topping to the end of the pie. But... the pretzels are deep fried and are slightly sweet. The cheese sauce was a little light on flavor also. The service was fantastic. read more

So first off the old mill is a really cool location. Still has some of the old millworks inside. Lots of cool spaces as opposed to one big open room. There was a youth softball team celebrating the end of the season upstairs so it was a bit loud, but fun. It's right on the creek and there's plenty of outside seating and picnic tables so if the weathers nice you can get your food and beverages and head outside. The bar tenders were all good, let us try a couple samples to make sure we were gonna like what we ordered. There's a separate spot to order food and the young girls working the food spot were unenthusiastic... We ordered the chorizo poutine, Roni Stark Pizza and Tampa Bay Bustdown burger. The pizza was good, honey drizzle was a nice touch, but the poutine and burger were the clear winners. Chorizo gravy had a good kick, and there were big chunks of cheese curd, nice. The burger had 2 smashed patties, nice crispy edges and a ton of flavor. The Gouda cheese and bacon they are using are both high quality. A lot of variety of beers on tap, not all IPAs which was nice for someone that isn't an IPA guy. Tried 2 lager, an ale and a pilsner they had on tap and I'd drink any of them again. read more

Convenient to my parent's home when I visit Rochester but not a place I would return. Pros: + Great for groups. Ample space both upstairs and downstairs. + 2 of the 4 sours I had were decent. + Great for kiddos as they have an outdoor space that's family and dog friendly. It was very busy the day we went with a fun atmosphere outside. + Historic venue with a nice restoration for the brewery. The less great: + The setup means long waits. Having to wait in line for beers in a completely packed brewery with two bartenders is not a way to run a business. They need to consider a new strategy for ensuring they can accommodate the volume they are currently doing. + Had a bite of someone's burger and found it more or less inedible. + My parents had attempted to organize a large family gathering on the day we were there and while I wasn't involved in the planning, there seemed to be missteps and miscommunications along the way that weren't met with much empathy or customer service in mind. Too many great breweries in Rochester to waste time on spots that aren't going to ensure guest satisfaction. Great location though! This place is so, so busy it's obvious the east side isn't brewery saturated (somehow) quite yet. read more

Stopped in one night for a drink on our way home from another establishment as we had moved to a close neighborhood and hadn't checked this place out yet. The building itself it really cool being at the old mill, and they had a great beer selection. We did not try the food yet, but the menu looked great so we will definitely make a return trip! read more

Food pretty good, but very casual . Orders are placed at the counter but are brought to your table. This is such a lovely old mill but the interior decor completely ignores that heritage. Too bad. read more

We've tried it a couple of times and it always seems like they are just not prepared for the number of people there Beer is good Food is good The wait time for food can be AWFUL Seating can be limited if weather is inclement and they decide not to open the upstairs Ambiance is fun in the historic daisy flour mill read more

Second visit to this location, and we couldn't be happier. Wide selection of food, plenty of seating & parking, and good beers. I had the pumpkin - oh my gourd - I believe it was called and then the sour. The ambiance and decor is exactly what we look for in a brewery. read more

This is a big space, so it's great for groups. It does get a little loud at times, but they also offer picnic tables outside. Beer was good. The food was mediocre, although my little guy really enjoyed his cheese pizza. Staff was very friendly. And on a Saturday night the line was minimal. I would definitely come back again. read more

Rising Storms second location at the Daisy Flour Mill. Very spacious seating areas. The downstairs was quite loud. There is a big bar to order beers from and a small area to order food. When you go upstairs it is like a loft area. There are king tables which can accommodate large groups but the chits are not very comfortable. The beer was good. I am hoping to see a bit more atmosphere as time goes on. Good service. Hoping to go back during the holidays. read more

Rising Storm Brewing - The Mill - three glasses of beer - Breweries Near Me - Rochester, New York

I've been twice and the brews rocked it both times. Thanks to Rising Storm for supporting the community by letting local rescues hold adoption events outside. The service is order drinks n take em, at a different location order food and you'll get messaged (wherever you happen to be hanging out) when it's ready. The burger was perfectly cooked and messy, just how I like em. The pizza is like a pizza cooked in an old pizza pan that was owned by generations of Italian grandmothers. read more

Love the place Turn the house lights down we stop there all the times Wine is very good read more

In spite of starting out with the coolest building in the county for a restaurant or brewery, someone still managed to install a bathroom tile style floor and add a concrete bar to this genuine 150 year old rustic mill. It still beats the heck out of most venues built in a steel building, but sell those nasty steel tables and chairs to Mortalis, and stick with something cooler and more along the theme of the building. The beer is good, and the staff ok. This place has the potential to be one of the coolest micro breweries around....I just get the feeling no one wants to step up and make it happen. Even though I think they've done the building a disservice and are selling themselves short, I'll be back. read more

Family friendly. Good amount of parking. Love the location, right in the park. I really like that they have artifacts around from the original mill. They have a viewing area to see the brewing process. The service was quick. I was looking for a gift for a craft beer lover and they helped me make choices, which he loved. read more

First time checking out this location. Have been to the Avon location a handful of times. Love that they always have lots of sour beer choices. The bartenders were super friendly and quick. It's a nice place to meet up with friends. The blue metal chairs are not the most comfortable but get the job done. read more

This brewery is the second location nestled inside the retired Daisy Flower Mill. The parking lot was packed Friday at 2pm and its very muddy! Inside is very spacious with low tops high tops and two levels. There were only two bartenders working so lines were long. We sampled a sour ipa NE ipa and a strawberry seltzer. I loved the sour. The seltzer tasted like a yummy strawberry lemonade but had little bubbles. Theres food too that you order at a small stand inside too, but we didnt drink. The brewery had a happy energy and staff waa friendly. No complaints! read more

I was looking forward to checking out this location, but it did not live up to the hype. When we went to order food, most of the items were out of stock. We had a wait for them to make new dough for pizza at 1 pm and share it amongst 4 people. The servers were nice and the beer was the best part. It was odd that you had to keep opening new tabs for food or if you got beer. I did love the look and feel of the location, but the parking lot was pretty flooded from the rain and it was hard to find a spot without a muddy puddle. read more

Very good beer and a nice selection of different varieties. The building is an old mill which is a cool environment. Nice outdoor space and very good food too. read more

Huge building, inside and outside seating. Great selection. Friendly helpful people behind the bar. We made no food inquiry. Friday st 3PM was a beer focused group. read more

Pizza is bomb and the beer is obviously very good. They're old school rap enthusiasts which makes them very cool and distinguished. Service is great, a small but very efficient menu for giving you a solid base to bury some good brews with your buddies. read more

Amazing renovation of the space and great addition to the community. Came here with a party of three last night and split the roni pizza square and the Mill salad - the food was great and filled us all up. We tried several flights and enjoyed it all. I like how the food and beer ordering counters are separate. Looking forward to returning! read more

We eat pizza everywhere, thin crust and traditional, and I'm not overstating it when I say that this might be the best pizza in Rochester. Detroit pan-style pizza with an amazing crispy crust. Each pizza is 4 large slices, so each one is a corner piece. The Roni Starks is some of the best pizza I've ever had. The crispy chicken sandwiches are also incredibly good, and huge. You'll leave with some containers of leftovers, believe me. Great beer and fast service, in a fascinating old mill. There's no place like it. One is the best kept secrets in Rochester. read more

First visit to this newly opened Brewery in the Daisy Flour Mill. Much of the old mill is still visible and part of what placed this old mill on the National Resister of Historic Places. Plenty of space to sit, gather inside or out. Two stories let you sit amongst the old mill works equipment, view the First Snow hand written notes on the wall dating back to the 1920's. Brewing operations are open to view and a wonderful outdoor deck overlooks Irondequoit Creek and Ellison Park. Ample tap list. My favorite was # 7, "Things Done Changed". Refreshing New England IPA. Hops: Citra, Ella, & Columbus. They have selections of Lager, IPA's, Sours & Fruit Ales as well as Stouts. Limited but delicious food menu. We sampled the Chips & Dip that featured house made potato chips and a very creamy and tasty sour cream & chive dip. Mac Salad a must. Large portion enough for 4. The GZA 4 corner Pizza with garlic sauce, shrooms, Italian Salsa Verde, Mozzarella, and Pecorino. Perfectly done, crispy crust, seasoned and garlic flavors. Again 4 people could each have a corner. We brought half home. Highly recommend. Staff super friendly and helpful. Great destination for small or large parties. read more

Friendly staff, good beer selection, but could use a west coast (non hazy) IPA on the board. Had a pizza and a burger, both were great! Guy playing music, great job on restoring the mill. Worth a visit! read more

Great drinks and friendly bar service staff. Food looks amazing but haven't tried it yet.

Food is very average but the ambiance and variety of drinks makes this a fun place to visit on occasion. The service is okay. It's quite new and much of the draw is its location in an old mill! read more
