The only thing that would prevent us from returning is; a glass of ordinary wine is quite overpriced IMO (and the bartender literally poured it into a measuring cup first, so for sure you're not getting one drop more...no "generous pours" here). I don't drink beer so wine was my only option and at $15 a glass I only had one. If it was more like $8-$10 I'd have had a second. Not to be cheap but I get paying that at an upscale lounge or a nice restaurant. But not a casual brewery. And I am surprised they don't sell ANY snacks of any kind. Not even a bag of chips. So it's 100% liquid diet here with nothing to absorb the alcohol and nothing to make you thirsty for more. Interesting choice.

Lock 32 serves a nice variety of craft beer from local breweries which can be enjoyed while sitting in or near the bar area or outside on the patio, if you order from their outside pouring station. They do not allow beer ordered inside to be taken outside as they serve in beer glass while outside they use plastic cups. I received good service on my visit. Their beer listing on the menu had the variety that I was looking for to get a flight. I enjoy beer flights (wherever available as long as the place has a good variety of beers). If you look at one of my photos of 'The Brews' (menu) for reference, I ordered their #5 (Yankee Leaper), #6 (Berm Side), #7 (Leap 'n Lime), and #9 (No Wake). They were all good in taste and to my liking. My most favorites were the Yankee Leaper and No Wake. The beer flight was reasonably priced. The atmosphere was nice. People were chill and friendly. They had some snacks available for purchase but I think you could bring some food from outside to enjoy with your beer (I saw someone with a box of pizza). I would highly recommend checking out Lock 32 if you happen to be in Erie Canal/ Penfield area. It's enjoyable and relaxing to be there while soaking in nice views (especially during warm weather months).

Ample space both upstairs and downstairs. + 2 of the 4 sours I had were decent. + Great for kiddos as they have an outdoor space that's family and dog friendly. It was very busy the day we went with a fun atmosphere outside. + Historic venue with a nice restoration for the brewery. The less great: + The setup means long waits. Having to wait in line for beers in a completely packed brewery with two bartenders is not a way to run a business. They need to consider a new strategy for ensuring they can accommodate the volume they are currently doing. + Had a bite of someone's burger and found it more or less inedible. + My parents had attempted to organize a large family gathering on the day we were there and while I wasn't involved in the planning, there seemed to be missteps and miscommunications along the way that weren't met with much empathy or customer service in mind. Too many great breweries in Rochester to waste time on spots that aren't going to ensure guest satisfaction. Great location though! This place is so, so busy it's obvious the east side isn't brewery saturated (somehow) quite yet.

A heads-up on the wings: they're not pre-sauced--they come with sauce on the side. I'd recommend asking for extra, along with a side of what I think was house-made blue cheese. Both were solid picks, and between the three of us, we only had two slices left by the end. Ordering is easy--you can scan a QR code or just walk up to the counter.
