This was my first time to this microbrewery and it was on my Rochester to-do list for a long time. We tried the Hawaiian ice tea seltzer and the Chocolate Cherry Stout. The Hawaiian ice tea seltzer tasted great, not very sweet. I would give it a 4/5. The Chocolate Cherry Stout was a little underwhelming, way too sweet and somewhat off-putting. I would give it 1.5/5. They have limited seating but we didn't have any trouble getting a table on a cold Saturday night. Also, the major drawback was the lack of any kind of food or snacks. Considering that they are open till 10 pm but no food/snacks of any sort was kinda annoying. Hopefully that changes. read more

New Location: 5 stars Team: 5 stars Beer: One hundred million billion stars! How could I have slept on Iron Tug for this many years? I do not know. We have friends who live out in Greece, and each time we'd drive down Dewey, we would pass Iron Tug and say, wow why haven't we been there? Then proceed to not go. Enter Iron Tug's sexy new location on Park Ave and you can't keep me away! My partner has already been back twice to pick up cans, and I have found an additional summer sour to enjoy by the pool or truly anywhere. The beer here is underrated and outrageously good. I tried a bunch of different sours/beers and loved each one more than the last. Batten Down Kolsch? Holy crap yum. Shore Leave Black Currant Mint Sour? Honestly how DARE you with this brew! Beer is almost never my first choice beverage, but the fruited sours ROC breweries like Iron Tug and others have been coming out with lately have shook me to my CORE, people. Hot girl summer? SOUR GIRL summer. The new space is gorgeous and the team at Iron Tug will likely outgrow it again in no time. Pretty good beer with a nice relaxed atmosphere. They don't do flights, but they do tasting pours, so you can get as many as you want. I really liked the sour cherry beer and the French toast stout was pretty good too. I would definitely come here again for a drink. Not a ton of indoor seating, but a few tables outside too. read more

Great small brewery on Park Ave. Gorgeous area. Building is cool, and well done inside. Looking forward to when they get their patio seating and music configured. Personally didn't like the selections of beer this time, but have been here in the past where I enjoyed all the beers on tap. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area. Parking is a challenge. Just have to know the area to get a spot on the side streets. Owners are always friendly to speak to, and learn about their brewing process. read more

On a nice kind of warm May night, the wife and I stopped in to the new Iron Tug Brewing location on Park Avenue. What an awesome spot! I live in Greece near their old location but believe me - being on Park Avenue kicks butt over being on Ridge Road. There are three or four tables outside on the sidewalk so we managed to get one and I ordered a New England IPA and an Imperial Stout for the wife. Everyone was friendly - from the customers to the bartenders. One of the owners told us that they are going to take out the two gardens in the front of the building and put in some more patio space for more tables. They can't have enough patio space on a nice day on Park Avenue! Their beer is great - the location is superb - this is a great place to go! Had their Festbier and Black Current Mint Sour. I was really impressed with the festbier, it was so smooth and flavorful; a great medium bodied beer. The black current mint sour was also flavorful, I just wasn't a fan of the mint aspect. Would definitely go back and try their other sours. Randomly decided to stop here while walking on Park. Got a tasting of three of their beers and I wish I remembered which ones I tried because they were all pretty good. One thing I wish they would of done was write down somewhere the names of the beers we got for tasting since it was hard to remember which ones we were trying. It's right on park so convenient location if you are walking around the area. There's an indoor and outdoor area to sit. I went for trivia night and there was popcorn available. dog friendly. limited options for drinks if you dont drink beer -- I think they had one cider available read more

Park ave location: great idea but not executed well. Only had capacity for minimal people outside with nothing to offer for outdoor seating. There's seats but it's cold, there's no lights. If you're in a location like this you need to know how to get to everyone. Seems like you're expanding to a smaller location, doesn't make much sense. read more

Iron Tug Brewing is not really much for atmosphere, unfortunately. It's very small and I like the concept of four long picnic tables to fill the space. However, the old brown brick walls, bars on the windows, and clearly visible mops and ladders toward the back just make you feel uncomfortable. The location isn't much to be desired either. I totally understand that things run out, but when they're out of their only sour, and almost everything else on draft is a stout (in the summer) it's especially disappointing. All around, the place seems really hastily thrown together, uncared for, and kind of boring. read more

So nice to have a brewery on this side of town! A wide variety of beers are available. I chose a flight of four of the darker beers. Everything, including the flights, is very reasonably priced. As expected, there were a few brews I really liked (the red ale was my favorite) and a few I didn't like quite as much. But my least favorite was one my boyfriend loved. To each their own. The service was good. The old firehouse (a building I'm partial to) has a great atmosphere. We didn't get any food, but the pizzas smelled delicious. I really only withheld a star because the bathroom could have been a bit cleaner (seat of the toilet was clean, bowl was dirty. Floor needed mopping. Hair in the sink). read more

This place is really tiny! Great utilization of space. There are four large picnic type style tables, with benches. You have to go up to the bar area to get your drinks and then sit down. My husband and I didn't try any food for our first visit, but definitely will when we return! The different selections were great, and the flight was a really good value and price! Decor was ok, nothing too much to look at in there! No TVs or anything. You actually have to talk to your friends :-) read more

I love to support local! Small, but very well crafted menu of microbrews. Owned and operated by 2 brothers. Definitely worth checking out. No food prepared on site, but there is a good empanada and sandwich shop (Bomberos) right next door that you can bring food in from. read more

Very small place. Love the atmosphere and decor. Has 4-6 picnic tables. With no TVs? Come on! Tvs are like $10 these days get a couple. I would be more apt to come back more often. Oh yeah for the beer... it all was pretty tasty. I'd have to admit our stay was cut short due to my allergies. For some reason decided to act up as soon as I walked in the door. Will come back and enjoy some tasty brews read more

A wonderful addition to the Maplewood neighborhood, Iron Tug Brewing is a small microbrewery that offers a limited food selection. Their NE IPAs were outstanding, and their beer flights were very popular. The Guinness inspired stout was also impressive. Unfortunately, their "artisan" pizza left much to be desired, as the dough was bland. However, the charcuterie board more than made up for it with sausages from Swan Market. It is definitely worth visiting. read more

Asked about the serving size was told 14 oz cup looked small. Others also commented today about the size. Took the cup home, measured 14 oz in a measuring cup. The cup only took 12oz. Bad bait and switch charge for 14 and get 12. read more

Beer is great...customer service needs work, "bro" at the bar was busy playing with audio cables and forgot our food. We ordered, payed for it and never received it. After waiting 30 minutes for our pizza we were told it takes 5 minutes for a pizza. When the pizza arrived we ordered a 3 cheese and pancetta it was covered in onions, NO mention there are onions on this. Would not have ordered a pizza with onions on it. Shame they are ruining such good beer with terrible service. read more

Dare I say pleasantly surprised? Most beer offerings were solid; the NE style IPAs give any other local brewery a run for their money. Pizza is delicious, you can tell a lot of thought and craft goes into those...chewy crust & great toppings. (Had the 3 cheese panchetta.) Small size can make service challenging, but overall nice evening. We will be back... love seeing this in the Westside area! read more

This brewery carries beers to appease both hop & non-hop lovers alike. I would recommend for you to try the Irish Stout and the Summer Ale. The complexity of flavor in the stout is unique and the balance of hops in the summer ale make both of these brews crowd pleasers to say the least. read more

There used to be an old copper beech tree in the village next to Thirsty's .. that was removed a few years ago. They were able to get the wood from the tree to create the custom bar. The design company who did radio social and ugly duck coffee designed the interior of the brewery. It's a light bright relaxing place to enjoy some delicious beer. The beer we sampled was delicious although a flight could run you as much as $20. They charge by the pour. Depending on the beer style you order it could range from 3 to 5 dollars per pour for a 4 ounce tasting
