We have given this place a couple tries to redeem themselves. The waitresses and General Manager have always been short and curt if you are not a regular bar fly. The food was overpriced for the portion size. The Irish staple Colcannan was cold and tasted like a boiled potato. No flavor. When you use the same glass to refill your Guinness is a big no no and they never switch out the glass. Does the owner not read these comments? Terrible experience. Sit down at the bar and I knew we were in trouble when the bartender said that she was pissed about something. She went on to stack the bar never gave us a menu never acknowledged our presents and after sitting there for a good 7 minutes finally sauce and said Oh I'm sorry I didn't see you because we took it upon ourselves to grab our menus from a waitress leaning on the bar. It just went downhill from there. The woman brought us the wrong beer and the wrong size glass never asking us what size we wanted. She screwed up our food order misunderstanding where where we were coming from with our request obviously because she brought too much food. When we are when we approached her about it she got defensive just like she got defensive when somebody else at the bar asked for a drink and she said I'm sorry I can't do it right now I've got something else to do to which the polite man like us said that's okay. Well after the 4th or 5th mistake it wasn't okay anymore. This woman was loud She screamed to other people while we were sitting at the bar that were standing behind us totally unprofessional. My friend used to teach bartending school and she would have not passed this woman at all. When we tried to explain to her about the mix-up she didn't care about it she didn't want to hear it and while my friend was still talking not yelling but my friend was lively but she was not yelling She was just trying to explain her way the bartender just takes off without even saying excuse me coming back after 5 minutes making my friends say gee it would have been nice if you said you know excuse me or you know you just leave me in mid sentence like that to which she says Oh I'm sorry again. So the manager comes out the manager asks us what's wrong My friend exclaims that the bartender is a b****. My friend is not one to name call like that she enjoys people likes people and we are very well received when we go to bars. This woman even tried to tell us we were wrong when we told her we visited many years ago when they there was a different chef Well we weren't lying about that we didn't go back because the food was horrible it was good that night with a bad bartender but we tried to tell her that the food is tasting like it used to but that when we were here many years ago the staff did tell us that there was a different cook so she was just one faux pot after another and it was just too hard to take and my friend did vent it's not always good to name call for sure but after you've been working in your yard all day in the heat it was a holiday and you're working hard all week You just want to go out and have a nice meal and you can't do it anymore because there's no professionalism and nobody gives a crap anymore about anything but themselves. Nice for a manager to come out with no smile on her face asking us what's wrong and because I say that the bartender is a b**** she says that I need to leave. I'm sorry but psychology says otherwise. Definitely a local favorite of mine in the Spencerport area, and now, the only place that I want to get a fish fry from. I was given a gift card to the bar/restaurant for Christmas and heard that they had Fish & Chips on Fridays, and man, am I happy I tried that fish fry! I have to agree that this is a fantastic new Irish pub and restaurant, especially since it offers an angle not found at many places around Rochester. My husband and I always said that if we owned an Irish pub one day, it would combine the traditions of outstanding Guinness (short travel from keg to glass, clean lines, correct pours), traditional music, great craic and home-cooked food with the selection of nicely curated craft beers. Well damn. McColley's just did that. So sneaky. The pub is on the Main Street in Spencerport - another one of those cute canal "port" towns - and because of its location, really takes on the traditional meaning of a pub or "public house." There are no televisions and the entryway is marked by a hewn dry thatch ceiling that the owner imported and assembled himself to create a cottage-like feel. It works. A massive painting of verdant pastures and an old mill covers the far wall. A gas-lit fireplace flickers cozily across from the bar. It's a place of gathering, of convivial chatter, of sharing ideas and life experiences. It's clear that the emphasis here is on a form of socialization that has suffered a decline in the busy American life. A place like this is sorely needed. While the bar space here is quite limited and narrow, the place does open up in the back to charming dining room complete with its own fireplace. There's even a small event room in the back called the Guinness Room, complete with a darts board, benches and large flat-screen TV. Nice! So you can have a private party back here and still have a taste of the Irish-American sports bar, Guinness paraphernalia and all. As for the products, their tap lines change frequently, but are certainly chosen by someone with a keen eye for taste and popularity amongst the microbrew market. Think Founders, Smuttynose, Otter Creek, Goose Island. They even had the bourbon county stout on draft awhile back! And their Guinness is FRESH with excellent pours each time. The food menu is simple but well-executed. It's rather small for a "bar" because they don't have a fryer and made that decision purposely. They bake and hand-fry everything instead. The oxtail pot pie is not to be missed, and their daily specials ranging from stuffed meatloaf to salmon wellington look creative and delicious. I almost didn't want to write this review because I've been there several times now and want the place to myself because it's so small. My parents always rave about McColley's (they go every weekend) so when I was up this past weekend, of course we had to go! My dad has always raved about their Shepherds Pie, and my mom loves their soup! It's very easy to park at the canal and just walk right over. It was a beautiful day on Friday so there were a lot of people sitting on the patio. It was so cute inside with the straw ceiling just like authentic Irish homes. We only got a drink and appetizer. The waiter was very nice and friendly. We got a few orders of the Reuben Fritters. Oh sweet Molly Malone, they were delicious!!! I don't really know what I was expecting, but I could easily eat all 4. Unfortunately though, I had to share with my greedy family. Really enjoyed the overall ambiance here, very warm and casual. Super crowded on a Friday, but we were quickly seated in the Guinness Room, in the back which I believe is available to reserve for functions. We could have waited on a table in the main area, but we took this option. The hostess and our waiter both excellent and friendly...could not have been more pleasant. Interesting and unusual beers on tap, and a decent selection available on bottle. Good news: there is a wide selection of brews on tap. One that I ordered tasted a little flat and lacked the flavor I'd tasted in a bottle of the same variety. I've lived in Spencerport my entire life so it's nice to see there is finally a respectable bar that locals can go and hang out. They have a great menu here with several Irish dishes (including bangers and mash of course) and some not so Irish dishes like the burger. The cool thing about the burger is it changes regularly. I got it straight up plain this time and honestly it was one of the better burgers I've ever had. Which says a lot because I'm a huge burger critic. The bar itself is quite small but it's very quaint. It's dim lit with seating towards the back, which makes for an interesting atmosphere. The beer taps change periodically which is great. If you're into always trying new beers, this is the place to go. The selection is amazing. This is exactly the kind of bar that Spencerport needs and I think it would do very well in any other town or the city. This place has good food. The Decour is authentic Irish, but it is quite small inside. There is more seating downstairs. The people are always friendly and lively. The waitresses are nice and they get the job done. The menu it's small but it changes frequently. There are not many options for vegetarians or vegans. If you love Irish Food / Irish Pub Food: THIS IS A MUST FOR YOU. This was my third trip here, and every visit has been at lunch, though I would love to try their dinner menu. It is quaint and cozy. Intimate enough for a quiet meal with a loved one, yet cozy enough to visit with friends. On this last visit I had the Small Goat Cheese Salad (which was fresh and delicious) and the Irish Poutine. I'll say that I was not overly happy with the Poutine, but this is a "It's not YOU, it's ME food moment." I prefer more traditional Poutine that I am used to getting in Canada (eh?). This was served over crunchy homefries (not my personal favorite) and it wasn't with cheese curds and gravy - it was with swiss and cheddar cheese and banger gravy. It just didn't work for me. If you like all of those ingredients, you will love it - but again, it's not you, it's me. My husband had the Guinness Beef Stew (which I tried and it was thick, full of flavor, and delicious) and a traditional Corned Beef Reuben. It was huge, and he loved it. I am a huge creme brulee fan, and they have seasonal favors, but I was just too full this trip. Maybe next time! I can't describe the coziness enough. Really fun, cosy atmosphere, definitely a low key place to come get a drink and really great food! We had the corned beef Ruben and it was delicious- perfectly toasted marble rye bread, the ratio of meat to cheese to sauerkraut to dressing was perfect- one of the best I've had in Rochester! I had the mashed potatoes with cabbage and onion and it tasted great- could have been warmer though. The service was great, relaxed but attentive, very personable & the conversation with our waiter made us want to come back- asked great questions and made us feel at home! Let's start of by saying it was OK, nothing real amazing here. I had the Reuben which is just grilled reuben innards on toast with thin cut freezer freezer fries. The gf had the weekly burger a pb, banana and bacon. She liked it minus the banana being molten from the frier. It came with the same fries as mine. Had the irish car bomb cake just a generic freezer cake in pre portioned slices. I had better hopes for this place but it's mostly freezer meals and priced above what it puts out. read more

Myself writing a review for this place has been long overdue. I have been here a bunch of times and love it! I typically come in for just drinks, but occasionally order food. The menu has definitely improved in the last year too. I have ordered the reuben fritters, burgers, speidie sandwhich and the garbage plate. All delicious... to be honest they have one of the best garbage plates in all of Rochester. They even offer a half plate for someone like me who can't eat a whole one and doesn't like to eat it leftover. The staff is friendly. My companion and I were the only diners for lunch at McColley's, which is a shame because the food was very good. I had the Shepard's Pie, which was an ample portion and delicious. My friend had an appetizer portion of Poutine which she said was very good. We finished off the meal by sharing a flourless chocolate cake which had a Guinness base and could not have been better. The service was excellent, but the Beach Boys sing-along in the kitchen was disconcerting and interfered a bit with conversation. I sincerely hope that the lack of customers for lunch was an unusual occurrence. It's hard to imagine how they can stay in business with so few lunch goers. I met an old coworker here for lunch and to grab a beer. I must say it was worth a solid 4 stars. The inside is newly renovated and absolutely beautiful. The bar is gorgeous and seems like a great place to have a good drink and conversation with a friend. We both got Reuben's and tried a southern tier IPAs. The Reuben was fantastic, with a fairly generous portion of corned beef. Also really happy to see a few interesting vegetarian selections, including a veg. Reuben made with sweet potatoes. Huge kudos for creativity and catering to vegetarians. To make my review fair and balanced, the Reuben came with chips instead of fries, which for me personally is a pet peeve. And the bar staff seemed rather unenthusiastic, which at noon on a Friday I can almost understand. All in all, good experience and great Reuben, check them out! read more

This is a great place to go in the summer for a cold drink. They are usually pretty busy but have plenty of seating inside and out to relax. My husband and I would walk here during the warmer months and have a drink or two here. They have a good selection of beer and have two bars, one in the front and the other in the back. We arrived too late to try some food, but we were super happy with the beer selection! I had heard RAVE reviews from friends about this new Irish pub in Spencerport... wow they were not kidding! My sisters and I went Saturday for lunch. We get together about once a month for lunch and we love to support local restaurants. We're always in search of places that offer unique dishes and maybe some vegetarian choices as well. ...and we love to have a cocktail or two at the same time! We all were very happy as McColley's offers a great selection of dishes, a very unique beer selection and a full range of cocktails. We got to meet the owner... it's quite an amazing story how he took this old building and with his vision and hard work, turned it into a charming little storybook cottage..and most of the materials he used are recycled. We were so happy with our meals! We started with sweet potato "fries"... Don't call yourself a bar if you close at 11pm. I was home for the holidays for Thanksgiving. The eve of Thanksgiving is the best time to go to the bar with your family and friends and hang out. Having a family member who is on the Village Planning Board of Spencerport, we decided to try the new local pub. We opened the door and was told, they were "on last call." Really?! You're a new business, and you are discouraging your customers away. We walked across the street to the local village bar that has been there for years....and we opened past 11pm.
