Smash burgers, garbage plate tacos, crab Rangoon pizza, mozzarella sticks, mac and cheese
    Samantha D.

The menu here is so fun! We've tried a lot of different things - the smash burgers, garbage plate tacos, crab Rangoon pizza (my favorite), mozzarella sticks, mac and cheese, and more! This is a typically busy and loud restaurant/bar. The food is generally fantastic but I find it more pleasant to order take out from here. Both times I've eaten in restaurant I had the same experience of waiting for ages by the door to be seated. One time it was busy, one time is was not. Once we were seated, service was okay, but the first time we waited it was for an unacceptable amount of time without acknowledgement. It is also extremely loud inside when it's busy and you will find yourself yelling across the table to talk with your friends. I would rate them 5/5 based on the food alone, but because of my restaurant experiences, I'm going with 3.

Kinda disappointing I've been there twice now before I decided to write a review. 1st time I got their 'Kevin Bacon' burger and I ordered it 'medium' with the mac salad for a side. The taste was good but overcooked and dry and it had no bacon. I waited 45 minutes to get my food on a workday and being in a rush with 15 minutes left to eat and return to work, I didn't bring this to anyone's attention. Went back last night, ordered a fish fry with Mac salad and another Kevin Bacon burger for my wife along with their Flight of Wings. The burger was cooked medium this time. The fish is frozen, not fresh. The wings were frozen as well. I ordered Buffalo hot sauce and it was mild...no kick whatsoever. The mac salad this time had way too much mayonnaise. The food here is 'average' and based on my experience, it is also inconsistent. The owner/servers are friendly. This is an average " bite to eat" place, not a food experience place.

    Teriyaki Grilled Chicken Tacos.

Of all the bar-style restaurants in Rochester, The Old Stone Tavern is by far my favorite. Water is served iced in a big pitcher, which was exactly what we needed after taking a long walk in the summer heat. The menu is extensive, and everything we've had there has been well-made, hearty, and absolutely delicious. Old Stone's chef puts effort into raising the bar for bar food (ha!). I don't have a picture of the fried cauliflower bites because we simply dove in and started munching, but trust that they're the best I've ever had. Everything is well-constructed and thoroughly thought out as a menu item. The grilled teriyaki chicken tacos were great (if a little more coleslaw than my personal taste), and my dad raved about his Big Plate (Old Stone's version of the famous garbage plate) and called it "the best he's ever had." My mom has ordered the same thing every time she's come--the honey butter chicken and biscuits--and has always taken home half of it to eat for breakfast the next day. The chicken is AMAZINGLY crunchy! It's fried with the same technique as their chicken strips and all the chicken in their sandwiches, and is the real showstopper. I'm still waiting to get together a big group of friends to come here for trivia on a Wednesday, but The Old Stone Tavern's cozy atmosphere and delicious food is absolutely worth your time.

Stumbled upon this place! The vibe is okay but the food is great! I was struggling to tackle this sandwich and left half of it. Bread was a little soggy so it didn't feel like "burger" but overall I would eat here again!

    Garbage plate

While we were visiting upstate NY we knew we had to drive over to Rochester and get ourselves a garbage plate. Never had specifically a garbage plate before, as it is a local thing, but with a cheeseburger, chili, mustard, onions, and mac and cheese over a bed of fries, you can't go wrong (unless you're describing this to your cardiologist)! All of the elements mixed together in one satisfying bite is so delicious and perfect comfort/drunk food. As for this tavern, the place was clean with nice ambiance and the staff were so friendly. One of the staff took extra time to chat with us even after we had already paid the bill. That shows genuine care when a conversation is had after the transaction has been completed. They also have a rather expansive menu of burgers, fried fish, and other pub fare.

Really great food and service! We will definitely be back. I can't say enough about how nice the waitress was. She made recommendations of places for us to go. My son had the buffalo boneless chicken bites and they melted in your mouth.

Always a great time with amazing food, but the best part is the crew! Super cool, friendly, and fun.

This was our second visit! Great atmosphere. Super friendly staff. Always a great selection of drinks, and I can never decide what to order. We both went for their version of the garbage plates today. Way too much food and way too delicious. The fries are incredible and so is the mac salad!

Wasn't too busy as it was a weeknight. Bartender was also server so we sat at the bar. She was great. Attentive, funny and helpful. Wife had the Honey Chipotle chicken tacos. Stuffed full of fresh ingredients. Chicken was juicy and beautifully seasoned. The chicken Sammie was amazing. The picture shows 2 pieces of pounded, buttermilk brined crispy juicy goodness. Why can't everyone make chicken like this! And adding the Japanese flavors is genius ! We will be back!!

Food is delicious. The choices are inventive, delicious and plentiful. The service left a lot to be desired, however it seemed they were seriously short staffed for a Saturday night. I ordered the Good for my Seoul burger and it did not disappoint. I also got a side of onion rings which were also delicious. We also got loaded tots for the table. They were crispy bits of goodness. Could have had a bit more toppings throughout instead of the small pile on top but still super yummy.

Stopped by for a late lunch in Rochester on our way back to Syracuse from Niagara Falls. This pub-style restaurant was the perfect place to satisfy our cravings. We were greeted with a friendly smile and served immediately. We ordered an onion smash burger, a garlic butter burger and a veggie burger with fries and tater tots on the side, respectively. My blueberry peach cider hit the spot. Food--5/5 seasoned fries and tater tots perfectly crispy, burgers well seasoned and savory. Condiments at every table. Ambience--4/5 I prefer restaurants without tv sets but at least the volume was off. 80s music playing medium loud. Clean and fresh smelling bathrooms which gave an extra point! Street parking, lots of seating, attentive staff.

Decent little bar with some lovely buffalo cauliflower. Not going to reinvent the gastropub or anything here, but a solid local option.

On my first visit I had the wings, which are the same they make for JD Oxford's...but this time with the house sauce, which is the same tangy-smoky bbq meets hot sauce mix that has been adapted by many restaurants. And naturally they cooked them to my specifications :-) I paired them with genny's salted caramel vanilla porter...or w/e it's called. On my second visit, my buddy and I shared the Turcott's poutine and instantly became my fave. Hardly greasy and hardly salty without sacrificing the good balance of flavors As you have guessed by now, I've been back twice under the new name. The first time was on Turkey day eve. They had yet to have the new menu available, but their beer list was good to go. The place underwent a hell of a face lift -- inside and out! Remember the wobbling tables? NO MORE! All the wood benches/booths are now nice and cushioned. The rear top half level is now carpeted and as great for group as it once used to be.. The bar is very shiny and beauteous. Other additions to the bar is a second flat screen, a juke box and a dart board machine. They new improvements is much more like a bar while maintaining the coziness and low key socializing vibe that its predecessor built a reputation for. Monroe is full of rowdy joints. Just this weekend, two black women tried to get a drink, but instead of getting them a beer, Gabby got aggressive because she mistakenly thought one of them was hitting on her boyfriend. It initially opened in September 2015, closed during the COVID-19 pandemic, and reopened by new management company, SCN Hospitalty. The venue is known for its capacity of around 1,000 people and its ability to accommodate diverse musical genres. Recently went to my first concert here. Nice space, nicely decorated up top. Great sound quality, lighting was great. However, I'd probably never come here again during the summer months. It was 96 degrees outside, this is an indoor venue, it was a sold out show of over 700 people, and there is no A/C in the venue. People were absolutely miserable, I watched multiple people leave the show early because they passed out or were having some other medical issue from the intense heat. It was difficult to even breathe during the event. 3 bands went on stage and every one of them mentioned how ridiculously hot it was. How this is even allowed and not a health risk is crazy to me. Wasn't enough bar staff to keep up with the amount of people, especially cause everyone wanted/needed water, merch stands were set up in spots that made it even more difficult to move around the space. Just poorly set up. Only a few tables and chairs, so people who were having issues with the heat either needed to go downstairs to where the bathrooms were or leave the venue just to get some relief. This is a very warm venue with seemingly no central air and minimal ventilation, so it gets hot quickly and I can't imagine how much worse it must feel in the summer.
