I came here for drinks one night with my best friend and we just so happened to come during a volleyball league's bar crawl, but despite that we still got our drinks relatively quickly and even got to talk with one of the bartenders for a while. These bartenders are on their A-game! It is a super cool space with two spacious floors and a beautiful deck (for those summer months). From what I can remember, prices weren't too high, maybe not dirt cheap. The pizza here also looked reminiscent of Buffalo pizza and that's always a good thing to find outside of Buffalo. First, the food here is typical bar fare but a few things stood out to me. Fried pickles or loaded mashed potato bites aren't usually readily available everywhere you go. We opted for the loaded fries instead though. The fries took a while to come out, but we were served a heaping portion. Lots of cheese, bacon, and sautéed onions topped off our mountain of fries. Perfect amount for a bigger group. The Scotch House is good for what it is - a sports bar. A fully stocked bar with plenty of selections for either the beer or liquor drinker. They have a bunch of tvs around the bar (albeit small tvs) so you'll be able to watch any team on any particular Thursday, Sunday or Monday. read more

Scotch House is GREAT, especially if you are going Thursdays or Saturdays for mug nights! $2 well drinks all night! Their food is also great, typical bar food but its always piping hot and fresh. I've seen many people complain about the length of time it takes for food to come out, but I prefer it to be very fresh and wait the extra 5 minutes. My only problem is that I wish they had a more diverse playlist, as I often feel like I am listening to the same songs over and over again. read more

I like it here and have always had a great experience. I have been here on Friday's after work for drinks and food. The bar staff is always really friendly. The food is also really good. I have had pizza and various appetizers. The French fries here are really good! I have had a ton of fun playing darts as well. There is a lot of space with a larger downstairs as well as a loft upstairs. The bathroom is also clean and in good shape which is rare in a bar. Overall, a great place to have some drinks with some friends at catch up! read more

Scotch house is a very low key bar, but has a very interesting setup that makes it different than a lot of other bars. It has 2 levels, the upstairs is very open and has lots of spaces where groups can gather. There is darts upstairs and downstairs, pool table upstairs. There is a nice outdoor deck off the 2nd level to sit outside and enjoy the weather. Hopefully this place can stick around - a few other bars have come and gone at this location, I think mostly due to the fact that is its a bit off the main stretch of bars on Monroe ave. Its a great place to go have a low key night. It has a parking lot which is unlike almost every other bar on Monroe and parking can be miserable in this area on the street. read more

This place is huge! And has two full levels. No real complaints about this place. I have not tried the food but the drinks and drink specials at night are pretty good! There are dart boards on both levels and a pool table on the top floor. There are also bars on both floors as well so the wait time is not too bad for a drink if you plan it out right. The atmosphere's awesome there, very laidback and friendly. I go somewhat frequently but however one night there were no bouncers at the front of the restaurant so one of the bartenders requested my ID after I asked for a drink. After giving my ID he then looked at it and had this "hell nah this ain't one of those real ID's, you don't even look like the guy" look, and proceeded to bend my ID to the point where it ripped the next day. I like this bar because of the friendly service, I can come on the most busiest nights and still have the staff greet you and service you almost immediately. The food is top notch unlike other Monroe pubs where they lack either food, food choices, or just lack quality in the food. They have been expanding the menu as well. They also have one of the best happy hour drink specials in the Monroe ave area. They also branch out and provide some of the best IPA's and other beers on tap that others in the area lack. The layout is great because it's enormous, they have 2 levels, with plenty of dart boards, and they have billiards (which is becoming hard to find in the Rochester night scene) I would recommend this joint if you are looking for a chill low key place to grab a bite/drinks, or show up when it's poppin' cuz this place does pack out on weekends and some weeknights. read more

Normally good drink deals and decent food but overall a dirty bar with a weird combination of people. Overall not a place I would ever suggest to go to but will go if friends want to meet there. And don't be fooled by the name. They don't even have scotch. read more

When we moved in we checked it out in mid February. Tried The Scotch House Burger & Fried Pickles yum! A tasty burger and fries. Pretty good beers on tap and lots of assorted booze if you can't find a libration to tipple as a shot or on ice or neat your silly. It's a huge place and I'm sure they outdoor space on the second floor will be a hot place to be. read more

Unfortunately this place is not what it used to be. Something changed and the kitchen service has gone way down. If you order a pizza, you will get way more crust than pizza. If you order tacos, they will take over 30 minutes to come out or not at all. Boneless wings will come cold. And if they forget the order they use the same excuse! "Ticket fell behind the printer". Or "It never printed". Used this excuse to me and then to a friend a couple of weeks later. Seems like some people do not care about the service you get. Good thing they have good bartenders. We will finish our sponsorship and go back to our original place. Goal would be to keep us there. Not lose us! read more

Its too cold here. Talked with manager but he refused to turn off A/C after we complained about it being too cold. Its December 19th and its about 27 degrees outside. I dont understand why A/C has to be on. One of us ordered nacho and it doesn't look edible. Bad food and took us 30 minutes to talk with manager since he is too busy cooking. read more

I've been here a few times now. Drinks are reasonably priced. There are quite a few dartboards between upstairs and down so if that's your thing one is usually free to play on. The few times I've ordered food it's been okay. The "Scotch Plate" is served with mac and cheese and fries but only one burger (without cheese unless you ask for it) and sprinkled with bacon. The food is inconsistent depending on who's cooking and whether or not that cook is also trying to run the bar. I'd say they needed some dedicated staff but overall my experience here has been pretty good. read more

I love coming here on Sundays. They have free pool and darts. It was a great way to enjoy decently priced drinks and have affordable fun with my friends. This is the perfect bar to hit if you want cheaper drinks and to play some pool and darts. The place is huge, with two floors, each with their own bar. There are two dart boards on each floor, and the pool table is up on the second, so you should never have a hard time finding something open. They have some cool daily drink specials, like Tuesdays was 2 for 1 well drinks. I have basically given up on trying to have a good experience at scotch house. I Used to love coming here. Great food, great people, great music, and great service. But the past I want to say 6 or 7 times( over the past year) I have came, and I have had to wait 20 minutes for a drink on not so busy nights, watching the bartender go Down the line. I'll be the next person to be served and he will go right back to the people who walked up 10 minutes after me. So you just sit there and watch him serve pepole within minutes while you sit there for almost 25 30 minutes, waiting. It seems he goes to the people he knows and makes sure all the people he knows are set before he takes care of any unfamiliar faces. Then once you get his attention, he doesn't try To hide the fact he's annoyed That he has to take your order. It makes you feel like an inconvenience for trying to spend money in this establishment . Not once but twice when I've asked to close my tab, he doesn't ask for names he just hands you whatever card he feels like . Even if it's not yours. I used To love going there but now it Feels like a completely different bar. It feels like if the bartender doesn't know you, your not welcome. After serveral several several attempts of giving you guys the benefit of the doubt, I continue to get the same service every single time. Either need to hire more staff or get staff that knows what customer service is. read more

Heightened security. Feel safe and plenty of dart boards. There's a pool table upstairs which is slightly crowded but it's ok. Good staff. Never a long wait to get a drink. Usually my go-to spot. Only 1 bartender on during a preseason football game, which is a horrible idea. Stood at the bar waiting for her to come over to me. She made eye contact many times and didnt even say hello, and continued to serve another party. They were there first, I get it. Finished serving them but continued to chat with them as a line of people waiting to be served had formed around me. I called my SO over to stand in my place, thinking that the typical sexist bartender attitude would work. He waited about 5 minutes and she still hadn't moved. We left and went to Acme instead, where we were seated, drinking and eating in about 5 minutes. read more

Worst bartenders in any bar on or near monroe ave. Listened to a bartender, with the owner/manager next to him, yell at a guy for trying to get water for someone he didn't even know who was highly intoxicated. Bartenders only response was to "get the drunk girl out of here." Bartenders work with their heads down, can't make a drink while taking an order and also serve their friends first no matter how long others were waiting. I personally worked in bars and restaurants for more than a decade and I would fire the whole staff if it was my place. Staff is rude, inefficient and costing the owners money. I would classify the Scotch House as a Sports bar (lots of tvs, always shows the NFL games) that has the Best Friday Happy Hour in the city...4-11 pm includes $5 blue light pitchers, $5 martinis and $6 large cheese pizzas (I think its like an extra 2 dollars for pepperoni). Also their Friday night staff is awesome, very friendly and love having conversations with patrons. They have specials literally everyday that are super affordable and patron friendly. The outdoor patio is a hot spot when it gets nice out. They also have a ton of dart-boards and a pool table (both which are free on Sundays!). Security Thursday-Saturday and a pretty good sized parking lot. The only "knock" is the upstairs bar doesn't have draft beer (just bottles and liquor), also the floor downstairs has a lot of cracked tiles but I mean I'm kinda nit-picking at this point. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED in the discrimination at the scotch house pub. Went to a going away party for my friend tonight, and my friend who is black and Puerto Rican was not allowed into the bar because of "his ripped jeans" . We were absolutely astonished and went it after he got turned away just to find out the there was over 8 people that we counted men and women with ripped jeans . When we proceeded to bring this up to the bouncer he said the owner lets them let women in with ripped jeans but not men. Then when we brought up there was men in there with ripped jeans he said "he was just trying to do is job " extremely upset at the racism and sexism going on from the owner and bouncer. Will never go back and will tell all friends about this experience. read more

Honestly Scotch house was the absolute worst time I've had in Rochester in a long time. Their staff is incompetent and lack any customer service. I wish I could erase the memory of ever going there as it is a disgrace of a "bar". I could not imagine having a good time there, even if they gave away their terrible quality beer.
