Last night we celebrated my son's 19th birthday, and somehow this place managed to outdo both of our already sky-high expectations. From the moment we sat down at a high-top along the bar (10/10 decision upon making the reservation), everything just clicked: warm ambiance, buzzing energy, and service that was genuinely friendly without feeling scripted or rushed. The staff made us feel like they were happy we were there--not just doing their jobs. Now let's talk food, because wow. We kicked things off with the Wagyu tartare (luxurious, balanced, melt-in-your-mouth) and duck croquettes (crispy and well balanced). For mains, my son went with the 24 oz prime bone-in ribeye, and I ordered the 14 oz New York strip--both cooked exactly how steak should be cooked. Perfect temperature, beautiful sear, deeply flavorful. Sides were shared and spectacular: roasted thyme mushrooms, potatoes au gratin, and creamed spinach--which may very well be the best on the planet (I will die on this hill). In the spirit of full honesty, when we come back (and we absolutely will), the two items we'd rotate out just to try something new would be the duck croquettes and the potatoes au gratin. Both were very good, but everything else we ordered--and clearly much of what's still on the menu--has an even higher ceiling of potential, and we're eager to explore it. Dessert sealed the deal. My son demolished a crème brûlée with appropriate birthday enthusiasm, while I tackled the caramel carrot cake, which was decadent in all the right ways and not overly sweet. The food was incredibly tasty. I ordered the sea bass, and it was really fresh and tasty! My fiancé chose the Delmonico steak, and it was cooked just right. When you only get a select few days of re-exploring your hometown per year, ya gotta do it up big! Enter: Patron Saint. I've heard about this new(ish) spot from many a friend and family member, and was impressed by the level of service, style, menu, and cocktails. My girlfriend and I opted for girl dinner and drinks at the bar - this is the perfect place for such an evening. I went with a truly stellar, herbaceous cocktail with tequila to get things started. After some time, we ordered the chilled shrimp, wedge salad, and a side of fries. I really cannot recommend this course of action enough. While I look forward to going back for a proper seated dinner, I honestly would order every single one of these dishes again. I went on what the bar staff called "their quietest night since opening" and have to say, the vibes were still fun and vibrant. There's complimentary valet but I also found easy parking right out front. As someone who will always and forever go hard for ROC's food and beverage scene, it really makes me happy to see this kind of investment happening in the heart of downtown. Pros: - Beautiful ambiance--the tree and dark green velvet seating were nice touches. - Food was great. - Wine was good but pricey (cheapest bottle was around $75). Cons: Despite a 7:30 PM reservation booked a month in advance; we weren't seated until 8:20pm. Our appetizers arrived at 9:14 PM (timestamped from my pictures), and we didn't get our entrées until three hours into dinner. Meanwhile, friends at the bar (who arrived after us) had drinks and apps and finished before we even got our starters. Service was chaotic, likely because they prioritized a large private party. Given that SCN Hospitality owns this place, they should know how to staff properly, especially during the holidays. Even with comped apps and desserts, our bill for four people was over $300. The food was great, but the service was a disaster. I wouldn't return unless it's a weekday in the off-season--hopefully, they'll have things figured out by then. read more

Everything works well, the hostess was very accommodating and the wait staff was excellent. Our server made some great suggestions and was very attentive. The pace of the meal was great and the courses were very well timed. Cocktails were very well made and very elegantly served in antique glasses? The shrimp cocktail is massive and cooked to perfection. Our steaks were perfect as I was hoping for. We split a chopped salad which was a good idea since it was so big. It was my birthday dinner with my husband. Making reservations was very easy and, when I had a particular seat preference I called and they were very accommodating. We were greeted immediately by the hostess station and seated quickly. Our first server was Alexis who had an incredible smile and made you feel welcomed. She got our drinks and then we met our main server, Brandon, who brought our menus and told of the days specials. He was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I started out with the French Onion Soup which was one of the best that I have had in a while. This soup was very nice. My husband is picky about fish so he had the Chilean Sea Bass. He said it was very delicious and wished there was a larger portion. I had the 6 oz Filet Mignon, medium well. It was tender and seasoned well. We shared the nights side special which was the Roasted Acorn Squash with cinnamon and a butter sauce. For dessert, I had the White Chocolate Budino, an Italian Mousse. It is a beautiful restaurant decorated with a dark green interior. You might think it's dark but surprisingly it is not. It is a thoughtfully well lit and accessorized restaurant. It has a large main dining room with a tree in the middle! I loved that. There's also a second dining area separated by a glass wine room. While looking for a place to have a celebratory dinner, I stumbled upon Patron Saint. A new steakhouse located in Downtown Rochester in the Tower 280 at Midtown complex. This upscale location was the perfect setting for this art-deco inspired steakhouse. Upon entering you are greeted by a warm, dim atmosphere with sumptuous greens and accents of brass. This theme continues throughout the entire restaurant with a truly cohesive design and beautiful tile work throughout. However, the ambience is just one part of the dining experience, so, how was the food? Well, to reduce the culinary aspects to one word would not do Patron Saint justice. The culinary team works magic in the kitchen to create rich flavors that exceed the standards of an upscale dining experience. The steak was cooked exactly as ordered, had a ton of marbled flavor without large fatty pieces, and was sealed in the perfect crust. The Mac and cheese used a modified radiatori noodle to create a texture to match the sharp flavors of the cheddar. The wedge salad was fresh and crisp, and had that classic flavor you expect. I will say, the culinary team is a little heavy handed on the aromatics, but not to a point that the food was bad. This is just something I wanted to note, despite the fact that no one in my party saw it as a negative. Amongst the eight of us dining that evening, I never heard a single complaint. Service was great - we got someone else's drinks but it was quickly rectified and given how busy it's easily overlooked. The ambience in the restaurant was very modern and sophisticated. It would be a great place for a date night or a celebration dinner / drinks with friends. The only downfall was the fire alarm went off for at least 15 minutes until the firefighters showed up and it was unbelievably loud so we had to step outside for a bit. We ended up staying for dinner at the bar because we were having such a fabulous time. The acoustics were still intimate and romantic which was excellent as some bars are too noisy with chatter and music. We were served drinks and food by Darien & Greg who were incredible! Both attentive, charming, and knowledgeable about the restaurant , origins, and food/drinks. I ordered oysters, beef tartare, caviar (my first time trying!), and live maine lobster. Everything was top tier. My boyfriend ordered the special Kansas City strip steak with a side of potatoes au gratin and the heirloom carrots. We finished with crème brûlée and a key lime dessert. I was apprehensive to try a new restaurant out for such a big date night, but would HIGHLY recommend to those like me who research and Yelp prior to jumping in. It is expensive, but well worth it. The perfect, if pricey, fusion of excellent and meticulously prepared food, warm and engaging service, and gorgeous and elegant, if boisterous, ambiance. Went there for the first time with my wife on the recommendation of a good friend. This is a typical hot new restaurant, we could tell when we called for reservations that it was 'jumping' as the background noise was so loud we could barely make a reservation, which is absolutely mandatory. We had Wagyu strip steak, Dover sole, and risotto, which we split as a side. Everything is a la carte here. The Wagyu was well prepared and a nice portion size for the price. I got fancy and ordered black truffle shavings for the top, which added nothing to the meal except $10. I'm not a truffle guy I guess. My wife's Dover sole was exquisitely prepared, served table-side with surgical precision. Somehow this fish surgeon extracted the endoskeleton with such skill that my wife could enjoy freshly prepared whole fish (nice portion) minus any bones. We split the squash risotto, which was delicious, a symphony of ingredients. The overall palate of these dishes was sophisticated over spicy. Since my wife isn't a big fan of spicy, this suited her well. In the drinks department, we enjoyed a pleasant enough glass of rose and I sampled some Nc'nean single malt, which was delicious. Scotch lovers, beyond this treat, the single malt selection is quite banal; standard Macallan, Glenfiddich, a Benriach, and the aforementioned Mc'nean. If they're hiding other bottles, it's a mystery to me. Dessert, because we had to, was an airy slice of mousse cake with various accoutrements that was light and a delicious way to end what was really a wonderful meal. Ali, our server, was warm and engaging and extremely helpful, as was her assistant and everyone else who helped out (including our fish surgeon). The ambiance was sophisticated but boisterous. This is not a place for a quiet dinner. It is a place to get caught up in a swirl of happy energy while vicariously enjoying the pleasure others experience being here. Well done and we have a new downtown Rochester destination which is superior to our previous excuse to venture from the suburbs, the departed Morton's, which, on its best night, was not as good as Patron Saint. My husband and I had an amazing night at Patron Saint with friends. First of all, let me say this restaurant is absolutely beautiful inside and the staff we encountered at the host/hostess desk were very pleasant. Myself and two girlfriends made a Vday reservation over a month in advance; we had been looking forward to checking them out since they opened. Although we ate somewhere else that night, we booked a table in the lounge intending on having drinks and dessert there after dinner. We arrived a couple mins early and were told our table would be ready soon, that they were essentially waiting for a table to leave. We stood around and were apologized to a couple times, but ultimately ended up waiting about 30 mins to finally be seated. Again, staff was nice and one of the ladies offered us a menu to look at while we waited. (Also there are only two little benches in the front area and while cute, they are hard and uncomfortable so that also made for a not so fun wait). I understand it was a holiday so it was a busy night, but I'm not sure if waiting that long for a reservation was a one-off for them or a sign of a system that needs some tweaking. Although we waited longer than we liked, we still decided to sit down and order. Only we never got the chance, because we sat at our table for about 10 mins and no one came over. I would think that after already waiting 30 mins to be seated there would be some small sense of urgency to serve us, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. At that point we decided to just leave - who knows how long it even took staff to realize we had left, because there was no one around the front of the restaurant when we walked out. Overall disappointed that we didn't get to experience a better side of this restaurant. I'm always leery of places full of trendy decor but lacking in service and customer experience. This restaurant literally made my girlfriend and I eat our words. I was expecting a subpar meal in a very cute restaurant, but I was pleasantly surprised! The food is even better than the ambiance. Obviously the monochrome velvet green going on here is very sleek! Although I had my back facing it, the tree is also a nice focal point. For an appetizer we had the crabcake, we joked about hoping that it didn't have bones in it (we had another local spot that had BONES in their crabcakes) however, these were delicious! They came with a sauce and pickled red onions which elevated the crabcake. It was big enough to share, tasty enough to finish yourself! For dinner I had a 6oz filet mignon that had a nice seared crust, with a hollandaise sauce and a side of their golden Yukon potato purée. My girlfriend had the honeynut squash risotto. I'm really particular about texture and I have to say I really enjoyed this dish! For drinks we had the Queens Cup that had everyone watching it be constructed. We also tried The Show Pony and House Old Fashion. I definitely recommend checking this place out. I went on a Tuesday night, for my 27th birthday- which happened to be on Mardi Gras, it was pretty busy, but we had people coming to our table checking in pretty frequently.
