Last night we celebrated my son's 19th birthday, and somehow this place managed to outdo both of our already sky-high expectations. From the moment we sat down at a high-top along the bar (10/10 decision upon making the reservation), everything just clicked: warm ambiance, buzzing energy, and service that was genuinely friendly without feeling scripted or rushed. The staff made us feel like they were happy we were there--not just doing their jobs. Now let's talk food, because wow. We kicked things off with the Wagyu tartare (luxurious, balanced, melt-in-your-mouth) and duck croquettes (crispy and well balanced). For mains, my son went with the 24 oz prime bone-in ribeye, and I ordered the 14 oz New York strip--both cooked exactly how steak should be cooked. Perfect temperature, beautiful sear, deeply flavorful. Sides were shared and spectacular: roasted thyme mushrooms, potatoes au gratin, and creamed spinach--which may very well be the best on the planet (I will die on this hill). In the spirit of full honesty, when we come back (and we absolutely will), the two items we'd rotate out just to try something new would be the duck croquettes and the potatoes au gratin. Both were very good, but everything else we ordered--and clearly much of what's still on the menu--has an even higher ceiling of potential, and we're eager to explore it. Dessert sealed the deal. My son demolished a crème brûlée with appropriate birthday enthusiasm, while I tackled the caramel carrot cake, which was decadent in all the right ways and not overly sweet. In short: food, service, and ambiance all exceeded expectations--by a lot. If you've never been here: go. If you go occasionally: go more often. This wasn't just dinner--it was a celebration done right. We'll absolutely be back. Note: while their classic steakhouse menu, with some pizzazz, is perfect... My only want for this place would be for another appetizer selection or two that does not contain any sort of fish/seafood as we have family members with sensitivity - and we were hesitant to order the famous house made chicken nuggets with caviar as we are still finding out the range of foods we need to steer away from. read more

I ordered the fresh cut for my cocktail and the steak frites for my entree. While I waited for my entree, I was served a complimentary roll. It was soft and pillowy. The fresh cut was refreshing and light, while the steak frites were good. However, my steak was cooked to medium well instead of medium, as I had ordered. I really enjoyed the fries. I had my birthday dinner here last night, and what can I say? We had an amazing time! As soon as we entered, everyone was very friendly, and the atmosphere felt just right. The food was incredibly tasty. I ordered the sea bass, and it was really fresh and tasty! My fiancé chose the Delmonico steak, and it was cooked just right. We began with some appetizers, and honestly, every bite was delicious. The best part of the night was the unexpected surprise. My fiancé bought me crème brûlée, and the waitresses were really nice, making sure to wish me a happy birthday. It's the little, caring details that make a place special. I will preface this by saying that I spent 23 years in the restaurant industry and find it very difficult to go out to eat. Typically you get either good service or good food but rarely do you get both. Patron Saint was excellent in every detail that I notice from the decor the moment we walked in to the bathroom experience, this place checks all the boxes. Servers actually replenished our silverware and not only that, but they wiped the table in between courses as well. I never had to ask for more water and the hand soap in the bathroom smelled nice without being overwhelming. These are all the little details that might typically go unnoticed. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. My steak was a true medium rare. The hericot verts were unique and the mushrooms a very elevated blend. Our server was attentive to ensure nothing I ate had gluten or dairy and they even brought me rice crackers during bread service which was a very nice touch, given I typically have to skip this altogether. Probably the best bar in Rochester. Atmosphere, service, decor and seating are all top notch. The food is excellent. The scallop and steak tartare appetizers are a must have. My only complaint I did not care for the Chateaubriand. Another member of our party got the A5 Wagyu which was excellent. The sides were also excellent. Aside from the chateaubriand not really being for me, (it was my first time ever having it so it may have been perfect and I just don't care for that cut. ) the experience was on point we will definitely go back at the first opportunity. For me and my budget this is not a middle of the week spot this is definitely a special occasion place. You are definitely going to spend north of 200 per person especially when you factor in a couple of cocktails which I would highly recommend the flight to Japan is the best drink I have had in this city hands down. When you only get a select few days of re-exploring your hometown per year, ya gotta do it up big! Enter: Patron Saint. I've heard about this new(ish) spot from many a friend and family member, and was impressed by the level of service, style, menu, and cocktails. My girlfriend and I opted for girl dinner and drinks at the bar - this is the perfect place for such an evening. I went with a truly stellar, herbaceous cocktail with tequila to get things started. After some time, we ordered the chilled shrimp, wedge salad, and a side of fries. I really cannot recommend this course of action enough. While I look forward to going back for a proper seated dinner, I honestly would order every single one of these dishes again. I went on what the bar staff called "their quietest night since opening" and have to say, the vibes were still fun and vibrant. There's complimentary valet but I also found easy parking right out front. As someone who will always and forever go hard for ROC's food and beverage scene, it really makes me happy to see this kind of investment happening in the heart of downtown. Let me start off by saying I was expecting a different type of crowd given the dress code that this restaurant posted. I meet better dressed people on the golf course. Beautiful atmosphere, great lighting, wonderful and attentive staff. I look around and see tee shirts, baggy shorts, people who looked like they just stepped out of bed. I looked around-I was the only one who had on a sport jacket and the place was crowded. I am not judging these people on whether or not they can afford this place-I am judging them whether they care about how they look or how they dress. I'm sorry, but if I'm going to pay upwards of $120 for a steak, can I at least put on a dress shirt and slacks so I don't have to show off my boney knees. As to the food-not bad, not great-I ordered their special pat lafreida steak, they could have put some melted butter on it-not an ounce of juice-just a steak on a plate. Not sizzling, a little tough to cut-felt like Texas Road House with a $100 up charge. i do want to emphasize that all of the staff were excellent-we did have to wait for 30 minutes after we ordered our main meal-but that was not a big issue-the biggest issue was trying to find this place in the middle of the Puerto Rico Festival-drove around several blocks because of traffic restrictions-their valet parking wasn't available because of the festival-very difficult to locate-we almost cancelled but called them to ask where they were and where to park. To top it off, we had the pleasure of not only listening to loud groups of people in the restaurant as they were eating their hamburgers we also got serenaded by the festival music-sorry, but this my experience and I know some have had better-but the cost did not meet the experience. Pros: - Beautiful ambiance--the tree and dark green velvet seating were nice touches. - Food was great. - Wine was good but pricey (cheapest bottle was around $75). Cons: Despite a 7:30 PM reservation booked a month in advance; we weren't seated until 8:20pm. Our appetizers arrived at 9:14 PM (timestamped from my pictures), and we didn't get our entrées until three hours into dinner. Meanwhile, friends at the bar (who arrived after us) had drinks and apps and finished before we even got our starters. Service was chaotic, likely because they prioritized a large private party. Given that SCN Hospitality owns this place, they should know how to staff properly, especially during the holidays. Even with comped apps and desserts, our bill for four people was over $300. My companion ordered the shrimp cocktail and a sandwich although I don't remember what kind. I enjoyed the sparkling rose very much. The filet was just OK. It was cooked to order but not warm enough. The shoestring French Fries were crispy but frankly, rather greasy. My companion enjoyed his shrimp cocktail but not his sandwich. Good news first: GORGEOUSLY designed interior. I felt like I was in some big city, where competition matters. And the service, from the second we (three elderly gay men) walked in was excellent - quiet and attentive. But, while our food was above good, not excellent: The bread was good, but more like a dinner roll than anything interesting, although they actually serve an adequate amount of butter (why are so many other restaurants so stingy with butter?!). The salads were big and very tasty. The pork chops were delicious, but the accompanying fritters were so salty they were unpleasant. My burger was thick, but not flavorful, and while I ordered it medium-rare, was slightly more done. The onion rings were super crispy and the side of sauce was delicious. The green beans were yummy, and cooked just less than crunchy, which I liked. Now, I read the "dress code" beforehand, and was impressed and looking forward to finally dining in an atmosphere that seemed more genteel, but the man at the table behind my companion, which I had to look at, had on a hoodie and baseball cap, as well as jeans; I would have forgiven the hoodie if either the hosts or manager or server would have asked him to remove his cap. If he made it to the table, it's the restaurant's fault, and I say "why have a code that isn't enforced?" All-in-all, it was an experience that I wouldn't mind repeating, and one I recommend. I wonder if the several bad reviews I read afterwards that I echoed about "too much salt" can be attributed to a specific chef? Everything works well, the hostess was very accommodating and the wait staff was excellent. Our server made some great suggestions and was very attentive. After less than 90 minutes at the table (for which we had a resy for) we were asked to immediately move our seats to make room for other guests because they incorrectly booked their reservations. I've been to Patron Saint twice, and unfortunately, neither time were the meat temperatures correct. The last time we ordered three filets all med-rare; two arrived med-well, and mine was completely well-done. I showed the server who took it back to the kitchen. The next attempt came out with a nice sear, but was so rare it was still cold in the middle. That same filet came back to the table and was pretty far into med-well territory, but I was done trying and ate it. We ordered some baked potatoes which came out with cheese that had once been melted, but had cooled and congealed, while the potatoes were ok, they looked kind of gross with the solidified cheese on them. For a steakhouse at this price point, there's no excuse to not be able to deliver meat at perfect temps. Patron Saint's Rochester competition does deliver on this steakhouse requirement, and Patron Saint absolutely must. The service and ambiance are great, just need to fix the kitchen. read more

Claimed to be out of burgers just to up sale and had the worst atmosphere of any "nice" restaurant I've been in. We were greeted immediately by the hostess station and seated quickly. Our first server was Alexis who had an incredible smile and made you feel welcomed. She got our drinks and then we met our main server, Brandon, who brought our menus and told of the days specials. He was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I started out with the French Onion Soup which was one of the best that I have had in a while. This soup was very nice. My husband is picky about fish so he had the Chilean Sea Bass. He said it was very delicious and wished there was a larger portion. I had the 6 oz Filet Mignon, medium well. It was tender and seasoned well. We shared the nights side special which was the Roasted Acorn Squash with cinnamon and a butter sauce. For dessert, I had the White Chocolate Budino, an Italian Mousse. It is a beautiful restaurant decorated with a dark green interior. You might think it's dark but surprisingly it is not. It is a thoughtfully well lit and accessorized restaurant. It has a large main dining room with a tree in the middle! I loved that. There's also a second dining area separated by a glass wine room. The bar area is large with bar seating or table seating along the wall of the bar. I loved the floral wall in the bar area as well. I had an amazing birthday because of this restaurant. While looking for a place to have a celebratory dinner, I stumbled upon Patron Saint. A new steakhouse located in Downtown Rochester in the Tower 280 at Midtown complex. This upscale location was the perfect setting for this art-deco inspired steakhouse. Upon entering you are greeted by a warm, dim atmosphere with sumptuous greens and accents of brass. This theme continues throughout the entire restaurant with a truly cohesive design and beautiful tile work throughout. However, the ambience is just one part of the dining experience, so, how was the food? Well, to reduce the culinary aspects to one word would not do Patron Saint justice. The culinary team works magic in the kitchen to create rich flavors that exceed the standards of an upscale dining experience. The steak was cooked exactly as ordered, had a ton of marbled flavor without large fatty pieces, and was sealed in the perfect crust. The Mac and cheese used a modified radiatori noodle to create a texture to match the sharp flavors of the cheddar. The wedge salad was fresh and crisp, and had that classic flavor you expect. I will say, the culinary team is a little heavy handed on the aromatics, but not to a point that the food was bad. This is just something I wanted to note, despite the fact that no one in my party saw it as a negative. Amongst the eight of us dining that evening, I never heard a single complaint. Our waitress (Laura) was incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and accommodating. Went on a busy night before a comedy show at the nearby arena. Food was excellent and I'm still dreaming of the Mac and cheese side. Service was great - we got someone else's drinks but it was quickly rectified and given how busy it's easily overlooked. The ambience in the restaurant was very modern and sophisticated. The only downfall was the fire alarm went off for at least 15 minutes until the firefighters showed up and it was unbelievably loud so we had to step outside for a bit. I was unable to get a table reservation but still figured we'd stop by for a drink and appetizer at the bar to check out the ambience before going somewhere else for dinner. We ended up staying for dinner at the bar because we were having such a fabulous time. The acoustics were still intimate and romantic which was excellent as some bars are too noisy with chatter and music. We were served drinks and food by Darien & Greg who were incredible! Both attentive, charming, and knowledgeable about the restaurant , origins, and food/drinks. I ordered oysters, beef tartare, caviar (my first time trying!), and live maine lobster. Everything was top tier. My boyfriend ordered the special Kansas City strip steak with a side of potatoes au gratin and the heirloom carrots. We finished with crème brûlée and a key lime dessert. I was apprehensive to try a new restaurant out for such a big date night, but would HIGHLY recommend to those like me who research and Yelp prior to jumping in. It is expensive, but well worth it. We cannot stop raving about our time here. My boyfriend travels for work and eats out a lot at steakhouses, he said his steak was top #1 or #2 he has EVER had. The service and quality of the food were absolutely horrible. We ordered a bottle of wine, and the server never once came back to refill our glasses or even check on us. It took forever to get our drinks and dinner, and when my medium-well steak finally arrived, it was cooked rare. I sent it back, and it didn't come out again until everyone else was finished eating. The perfect, if pricey, fusion of excellent and meticulously prepared food, warm and engaging service, and gorgeous and elegant, if boisterous, ambiance. Went there for the first time with my wife on the recommendation of a good friend. This is a typical hot new restaurant, we could tell when we called for reservations that it was 'jumping' as the background noise was so loud we could barely make a reservation, which is absolutely mandatory. We had Wagyu strip steak, Dover sole, and risotto, which we split as a side. Everything is a la carte here. The Wagyu was well prepared and a nice portion size for the price. I got fancy and ordered black truffle shavings for the top, which added nothing to the meal except $10. I'm not a truffle guy I guess. My wife's Dover sole was exquisitely prepared, served table-side with surgical precision. Somehow this fish surgeon extracted the endoskeleton with such skill that my wife could enjoy freshly prepared whole fish (nice portion) minus any bones. We split the squash risotto, which was delicious, a symphony of ingredients. The overall palate of these dishes was sophisticated over spicy. Since my wife isn't a big fan of spicy, this suited her well. In the drinks department, we enjoyed a pleasant enough glass of rose and I sampled some Nc'nean single malt, which was delicious. Scotch lovers, beyond this treat, the single malt selection is quite banal; standard Macallan, Glenfiddich, a Benriach, and the aforementioned Mc'nean. If they're hiding other bottles, it's a mystery to me. Dessert, because we had to, was an airy slice of mousse cake with various accoutrements that was light and a delicious way to end what was really a wonderful meal. Ali, our server, was warm and engaging and extremely helpful, as was her assistant and everyone else who helped out (including our fish surgeon). The ambiance was sophisticated but boisterous. This is not a place for a quiet dinner. It is a place to get caught up in a swirl of happy energy while vicariously enjoying the pleasure others experience being here. Well done and we have a new downtown Rochester destination which is superior to our previous excuse to venture from the suburbs, the departed Morton's, which, on its best night, was not as good as Patron Saint. Finally, in all this praise, I would be remiss if I didn't mention that all this came at a substantial price, almost $300 with tip for dinner for two. That said, you get what you pay for. read more

My husband and I had an amazing night at Patron Saint with friends. We got seated immediately and was greeted by a hostess with water and then our server to give us history of the restaurant and specials of the night. The food was amazing. We all got different cuts of beef, all wonderful. We got sides of brussell sprouts, mac n cheese and onion rings to share. We also shared a salad, scallop appetizer and crab cakes to start. Cocktails were creative and delicious as well. Our server was wonderful as well and did not feel rushed at all. I highly recommend for a special night out. read more
