I was a first time customer at this place tonight. Food was good, service was absolutely great and the drinks were cold. All in all a good night. All we had to do was pay the bill. They seem to have an amazing check out machine that can only be used by the apparent manager. We sat and watched while he did everything else, cleaning tables, rearranged seating and saw to other peoples needs. When he finally made time for us, after the waitress had asked him three times, he was not aware we were waiting. There was no way he could be wrong. He managed to make a nice night fairly pissy. I don't believe that we will ever be returning to this establishment. I hope his next empty table was very important because it was apparent that our money was not. read more

We went for a work dinner and it the service was great and the food was very good. The Bang Bang shimp was our favorite appetizer. The calamari was kind of a fatty softer texture, probably wouldn't order that dish again. My filet was cooked perfectly! The peanut butter pie for dessert stole the show! Nice, but simple atmosphere. We went to Michales Valley Grill with my sister and her husband last night, and as usual it was fantastic- were greeted by George and Dimitri, part owners, with their usual smiles and friendliness. Happy hour was nice, then seated at a comfy booth. Glad we had a 5:30pm reservation as the restaurant was filled as we left. We each ordered a different entree and couldn't have been more pleased. Mine was the Chicken Romano- so good. Nice presentations and absolutely delicious. We always enjoy our time and food at Michaels. We went on a Tuesday night at 5pm. We were seated immediately. Overall the food and service were both good but the bar area is so loud it distracting. When you want a nice meal and somewhat upscale that was the only real negative. My son didn't like crusty part on the filet but I found my shrimp to be very good. read more

Our experience at Michael's valley grill was pretty good. We did have a big party of 13, so things did seem to take a little longer to come out. Server was very friendly. Food was hot and delicious. I had the chicken French which was pretty good. My husband had the pork chop which he said was good other than they put too much rub on it making it a little too salty. My only complaint would be is that they gave me the kids meal chicken French vs the regular chicken French. They did end up brining out an extra piece of chicken, but not more pasta. The kids meal seemed like it did not have a ton of pasta included. I would definitely go back to try more items on the menu. This is a great place to go on a date night. read more

I live in Newburyport, MA and travel to the Buffalo/Rochester area on business at least four times a year. First of all, it's a hidden gem, in a tiny plaza! Michaels Valley Grill is always one of my stops. The food never disappoints, the owners "the brothers" do a phenomenal job at keeping things consistent. I always enjoy sitting at the bar, the locals always make me feel welcome. The ambience is warm and cozy, but not stuffy. Unexpected to find this hidden treasure in a strip mall. Our Rochester friends introduced us to their favorite dishes. The lamb lollipop appetizer was outstanding. A single wedge salad fed all 4 of us. The fall-off-the-bone bbq ribs have been on the menu 40 years. I hope they stay another 40! Perfectly prepared sautéed vegetables were the perfect side. Michael's Valley Grill is a delightful surprise. The food is superb, the service is flawless and the atmosphere is reminiscent of times gone by. One enticing yet tiny feature is the salt and pepper dispensers on every table. They are certainly throwbacks to the 50s and I was told that they are mostly unique to the table to which they are assigned. I am probably giving too much attention to such a small particular, but the attention to detail that makes this possible, is the same kind of attention that seems to permeate the restaurant as a whole. My wife had a swordfish special which she described as "spectacular". I had greens and beans with sausage and it too was extraordinary. Management does a fine job overseeing the operation while remaining unobtrusive. Everyone involved seems to know exactly what they are doing and how to do it properly. Took my daughter to dinner there last night. My husband and I have always loved this restaurant. Last night was disappointing. My daughter ordered the ahi tuna special(no price given & was not listed on menu). It looked delicious and I was sorry that I didn't order it too. Until she started eating it. She turned red and sweat beaded on her face. It was blackened and so spicy. We told the waitress and she said"awe" and walked away. We never saw her again. Someone else brought us the check. The dish was $42 and definitely NOT worth it. Chicken French was good but not exceptional. Calamari was very good. Drinks were okay but again not exceptional for the price. Being relative newcomers to the Rochester area, this was our first visit to Michael's Valley Grill. I understand that it has been here a while, but under new ownership for the last year or so. We were six people in our party ona Saturday evening. Michael's was filled and busy, but this did not detract from service. Our waitstaff was efficient, helpful, courteous and accurate. Water glasses were refilled as well as the bread basket. The chef came out during the meal and stopped at each table. Very nice touch and an opportunity to give feedback. Having 6 in our party, we were able to sample a variety of dishes - some from the regular menu and two from the night's specials. We also ordered two apps to share - the Bam Bam Shrimp and Calamari. One of our party ordered the Lollipop Lamb Chops as an entry. The swordfish special was fresh and a standout! We all raved about our dishes - not a dog in the group. I will be going back to Michael's as often as possible and highly recommend. read more

I would suggest to make a reservation, especially if its a big crowd. Per yelps review this is something I must try. But it was kinda disappointing. I got chicken French with escarole, I have to say the chicken was ok and the sauce. The escarole not so much. It wasn't washed properly, it was grainy and I felt like I was eating dirt.
